Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Relaxing vacation

The grounds of the hotel are still lovely despite what they went through almost 2 years ago. We were here 3 years ago and We noticed a lot of the trees were gone from around the spa side pool. There is a definite need for palapa, pergolas for people who want shade which is pretty much everyone. It was next to impossible to find shaded areas. There was apparently a problem with laundry and the towels in our room were never changed and we had the same bath towels the whole week. No hand towels [... read more] either they were taken away on our first day and didn’t get any new ones. The food is definitely not the same as it was 3 years ago, that was a bit of a disappointment. Plus they need to be consistent with labelling the food. I have a seafood allergy and I never knew what was in some of the dishes that were offered. Other than those minor issues we still had a great time and we love Cuba! Warning: WATCH FOR FALLING COCONUTS!!!

Melia Las Dunas: Horrible

This hotel is as worse as it gets. Very old and dirty. ALWAYS out of everything. Food, such as fries. Calamari, buns for hot dogs and hamburgers ( which they still actually still serve you the hot dog and hamburgers with NOOOOO BREAD) no utensils left. No plates for cereal, No tables clean to sit down and eat. No towels at the pool. They said every single day that the machine is broken. No nothing. Dirty beach too. And forget about asking for another. You will never get it. I asked for a bed cod for my 3 year old, and they gave me one bed spring box on top of another. I requested the second floor and got the main floor which the room had lots of insects, (really big thick spiders too)I have two kids, so by 5ish they are hungry. The buffet only opens at 7 pm. Ridiculous. At least open it at 6:00. I am extremely disappointed and it was lost vacation time and money. Very sad!!!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Beautiful resort

Staff were really nice, beach was amazing though hidden coral was treacherous. Lobby bar was 24/7 and night life was amazing! Everything was walking distance with multiple pool bars to choose from. As for food options- breakfast was your best meal of the day. All in all great resort

Memories Paraiso: Dirty, bad food, overpriced and not as advertised.

There were issues with our vacation package surrounding the airline and the resort. We Travelled March 18-25 2019. The staff with Sunwing are polite and friendly but the aircraft was absolutely filthy. Our flight down was the first flight of the day and the bathrooms had no soap, overflowing garbage containers and urine on the seat, walls and floor of the bathroom. The flight back was no better where all of the same issues were present but there was also blood and feces in the bathroom. The [... read more] aircraft is obviously not properly turned around for these flights. The resort booked us into a dirty room. We had to ask 4 times and it took 9 hours for them to come and clean the room. There was urine on the toilet and floor, dirty towels in the tub and body fluids of some kind on the bedding. We feel like the first day was a loss because of so much time spent trying to hunt down and convince someone we needed a clean room. We couldn't unwind, have a shower or get comfortable until the room and bathroom was sorted out. Water is only stocked in the fridge on a random days. We had to ask the reluctant bartenders to fill our portable containers brought from home to drink. The public bathrooms at the resort were unacceptable. If the weren’t locked completely- there was feces on the toilets, floors and walls, no toilet paper, many without toilet seats and sinks without running water. The result is that we spent a lot of our time walking back to our hotel room (not an ocean view as requested) to use the toilet. The food was barely a passing grade. The buffet was filthy. There were spills behind the grill stations, dirty plates and cutlery that weren’t cleaned up the entire week we were there. The grills were dirty and plates and glassware were often greasy, used or had finger prints on them. (This is a food Safety Concern) The selection was minimal with the buffet offering the exact same food every day. No accompaniments like sauces, dressings, jams etc to put on meats or breads. The Restaurants were a step up but only two restaurants were included in the price. Better food cost more money. The best place for food was the Pizza place but wait times were easily over an hour for one pizza. Snack bar only offered hot dogs, hamburgers or pork, but not all at the same time. Pork one day, not available the next for example. Things were not as advertised. Specifically the VIP Lounge in the airport for our departing flight. We were told that there was wifi, open bar, a place to go outside and snacks including pizza and fruit. Wifi had to be purchased, you were not allowed to go outside, there was no fruit for snacks (we are gluten intolerant).The bar was open but the room was completely oversold and understaffed. (One bartender, and one cook for 70+ people) This meant you were lucky to get once drink at the bar and some people didn’t even have a chair to sit in. The VIP felt like a definite rip off. For all of this I found the price to be very expensive. We spent most of our time walking to bathrooms or waiting in lines to pay for upgraded service that should have been included. We met a couple from Ontario who paid less than $1000 each and their kids were free. We paid over $1400 each and our kids weren’t free so we had to leave them at home. Truly we felt ripped off with a dirty room, dirty bathrooms, poor food, having to pay for upgraded service and knowing that other people were on the same package for almost $500 less per person. We will not be choosing Sunwing or Memories paraiso again in the future unless we can be persuaded otherwise.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Amazing

It was more thank great I will be going back pool great service great food great ocean beautiful water was.perfect temperature did alot of a activities on the beach and we took the paddle boats out almost every day. Air Canada rouge was great we had two fantastic flights the plane was on time and we arrived early. Check in was fast even at 10pm and the room was clean and luxurious.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort, with awesome Beach

Great resort getting a little dated, mattresses are very firm and a little lumpy. Signage to get to your room , beach and so on are there just don't really help giving directions, you could wander in circles for awhile. Food was good for Cuba . French fries were a hit although these were available only a couple days and then no more, where as the White wine, you would get a glass and 10 minutes later they were out, but 10 more minutes later they might have more wine for 30 minutes then run out  [... read more]again. Rooms were cleaned daily , fridges stocked daily, all the hired help were friendly and pleasant, for the money a very good choice, a great week.

Melia Las Dunas: Old Friend

Just returned home from my 6th visit to Melia Las Dunas a little teary eyed. Leaving this old friend is never easy. Our room was more than adequate for our needs. We left it by approximately 8:30am each day, returned to change for evening dinner, arrived back by 10pm or so to sleep. This place has no problem keeping two 70 year olds on the go all day long. The beach is AMAZING. The grounds are meticulously kept and full of colour. The main buffet and specialty restaurants ensure that no on [... read more]e ever goes hungry. The main lobby offers a somewhat tranquil spot by day and a fun filled, high energy meeting place at night. The best part? Without a doubt it’s the people that work there. We consider some of them family. Any employee you encounter makes it their mission to make every day a special one for you. My daughter and her family who first introduced us to Melia Las Dunas have been to this resort 26 times. I’d say that plus my review above speaks well for the ongoing commitment to our comfort and satisfaction while staying there. Already planning a return trip for next year.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Loved the adult only aspect!

Thank you to Kevin Dupuis for upgrading us we really appreciated the 9 hours free Wifi. The hotel employees are the best! We had great service with smiles and some special treatment by these incredible people. This resort is huge, so a lot of walking and lineups at the buffet. Because of the line ups at the buffet by the time we received the fresh cooked entres the other hot items were cold. They didn't always have the food on the menu and ran out of bread a few times. Access to the beach is [... read more] a fair walk from the resort. I had quite a few insects bites which I believe were sand flies at the beach. The Air Transat personnel at the resort were very friendly and helpful...big thank you to them. We were not aware of the dress code for the a la carte as laid out in the resort pamphlet we received on arrival. There are many areas that would cause concern for anyone with a disability, not accessible to all! Overall though we enjoyed our 10 day stay and came back refreshed and ready for reality!

Melia Las Dunas: Meliã Las Dunas - April 2019

Honest review: We had an amazing time. The room was dated, but clean, and the cleaning staff was incredible. The food was, well, okay. There was always something to eat at the buffet, though the à la carte restaurants left a lot to be desired. The Columbus was delicious! The poolside bar was great, but be sure to get there in time to claim chairs or you’ll be hard pressed to find some shade. The beach was the same. Get there early. But what a beach! Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Vacation

We had a great stay here. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Grounds were very well kept. Booked the Japanese a la carte and we highly recommend this. The food was so good. The beach was absolutely beautiful and the pools were also nice. Lots of activities on the beach. Nighttime entertainment was great as well.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: First Time to Cayo Santa Maria and the Melia

Stayed at this resort from March 29/19 to April 5/19. We went for the beach, which was outstanding, many kilometers of walking, lots of palapas and chairs, no need to rush out in the morning to save chairs. No rocks in the beach, all sand for swimming, but some waves on some days. Stayed in room 1915 which was in very good shape, everything worked and had a very private garden patio. The room was close to everything, just a few minute walk to the front lobby and the restaurants and pool. Grounds were beautiful, well kept and nice to walk through. Food was OK, favorite place to eat was the BBQ at the beach restaurant and the pool grill. Tried two a la carte restaurants, the Bistro, which was good and the Tex Mex, which I think would have been good, but they were out of some things. Ride out to the resort was 1 hr 45 minutes, with the bus stopping at four resorts. Very interesting however, passing through the small towns and countryside for the first time. So PRO's: Beach for sure, BBQ at the beach restaurant, the Cuban musicians and the rock band on Thursday night (very good), watching the Pelicans on the beach, and of course the people who work at the resort, all very nice people and the resorts greatest asset. CON's, don't really have much to mention, the buffet was a bit disappointing for us but we always found something to eat, the airport at Santa Clara was very busy so listing this as a con also. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing Resort

This is a very large resort with a lot of things to do and see. We had an awesome time and got spoiled by the employees. I highly recommend this resort to families. The buffet has a large select of food for all types of eater.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Beautiful resort

My daughter and I went Ocean Casa Del Mar March 29th until April 5th. We had an amazing time. We were in building 12 and had an ocean view which we didn't request. It was right beside the walkway to the beach. Near the pool and a short walk to the main building. Room was clean everyday. We did not starve but by the end of week we were tired of the same buffet food. Beach was beautiful. The seaweed was left on the beach for environmental reasons. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fabulous large clean resort!!!

The resort was very clean. The staff did their best to fix anything that was broken on a daily basis. Our room was very large, same with the bathroom. The groundskeepers were T outside every morning and would say hi (Hola!) with a huge smile to us every morning when we walked by. The beaches(Mégano and Ensenachos) were both amazing: one had a bit more coral and rock on one side so it was amazing to go snorkeling in, with tons of tropical fish. The food was also very good with a pretty good variety on a daily basis. There were 4 À la carte restaurants(we tried every single one) and they were very different from one another and each had great tasting food, different from the buffet. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great location to stay at

Public areas are beautiful, restaurants are decent quality - good for what you would expect in the area. Staff were quite friendly. Internet connection was poor, however you get several hours included whereas I have paid for internet by the hour previously.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Unorganized reception

The hotel was nice clean and staff is friendly. Unfortunately they are still working the kinks out and the reception desk was chaos both checking in and checking out. I have been to Cuba many times and always greeted with a drink and the keys to your room are ready and waiting for you. We checked in at 4 in the afternoon and could not get a room till almost 9pm. We had several small children with us and you can imagine the exhaustion by the time we were allowed a room. Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Sad how things change

Been here before. Enjoyed it immensely. This time not so much. I think the hurricane took a large toll on this resort. Every thing is tired and worn. Out of straws, coffee liquor bacon, jam, potatoes, tomatoes, French fries, king bed sheets and probably more that I'm not aware of. All the food that was available had enough salt to kill a person. Beef was rock hard in Buffett and the three a'la cartes. Sad really.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: The beach was breathtaking

We loved our trip to Melia Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba. We expected beautiful beaches and weather and we got that and more. From flight to arrival to hotel, our stay and departure, all went very well. Would go back in a heartbeat. No mosquitoes, there was always something good to eat, the staff are amazing and the grounds are so beautiful. This is a wonderful hotel to stay at.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Great resort!

Great spot to enjoy the sun! We had an amazing time. Definately will return next year Friendly staff, clean premises, beautiful gardens, and a short distrance to 3 amazing beaches!! The food was alright, however it would of been nice to have a better supply of orange juice!
