Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Standard Resort

Check in: disorganized as usual. Rooms: clean, little to no hot water pressure, some out dated, some are better then others. Grounds: well maintained, however they need to spray more for bugs though, 3 times a week is NOT enough. Staff: some better then others, but I have had way better service elsewhere. Food: AMAZING no complaints. Medeteranian al a cart is the only one worth your while, other two just serve the same things as the buffet. Beach/Pool: honestly the main pool could be maintained better, but the other two were just fine. Beach, lots of sand flees... I am still itching. They really need to spray more. Very little seaweed on the beach, beach was well maintained. Only complaint: I have stayed at almost all of the Grand Bahia’s and some of them multiple times and usually I get something extra like a bottle of champagne or even a comment like “thanks for returning” I don’t know how many people I told that I was a returning guest and it was like they didn’t care. No one did anything. Overall I would give it a 3.5-4/5 nothing horrible, but also nothing amazing. If I had paid about $150-$200 less (under $1000) I feel like it would have been a better price. Or even $1000 flat. I did get a deal but some people were paying upwards of $1500 and it is definitely not worth that or more. This resort has lots of potential but they need someone in there to step up their game. A manager who pushes the staff to do better and wants to renovate some of the rooms.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great resort

I really enjoyed my time at Cofresi. The pools were clean, there was a ton of space available. I went with my husband and two year old daughter. The people there were very accommodating of my young daughter. My only issue was that I had booked the VIP access. Turns out that only gives you access to the VIP beach. This is the only VIP access. This does not include the VIP restaurants. That is for VIP MEMBERS OR SHAREHOLDERS only. I wish that was made clear before. Most likely will stay at more lifestyle holidays resorts in other countries.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

Nice hotel, well kept grounds. Welcoming to room was beautiful, lots of floral decorations & great housekeeping. Rooms, overall were adequate. Paid for Premium Level, a few more options/explanations of services offered for Premium level would’ve been appreciated. Booking a la carte restaurants was easy, efficient & always accommodating, service at a la carte & Vintage room was exceptional. Food was really good. Wine in a la carte restaurants is sub par. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Customer Service Lacking

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. The grounds, the beach, everything but the customer service. We had to go to the reception desk a number of times during our stay and each time we were treated very rudely. There were room mix ups, empty bar fridges, late check out miscommunications and all inquiries were treated the same, "sorry we can't help you". For the price that is paid for a vacation, I would think the staff should be a little more accommodating. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: great resort

The grounds were well kept, the food was amazing with lots of variety. The staff was very friendly. We had a issue in our room first thing but was fixed within 15 min...We do wish there was some music playing on the beach. We didn't get too much time at the pool as towels were always put on chairs before 7 am, but we preferred the beach anyways ..The resort was very nice and would go again..

Puerto Plata Village: Crap place scheduled to be demolished in 3 months

This is not even a resort! No one spoke English food sucked bugs in room. Doors had been kicked in and locks had been replaced with small chains, no security in the middle of a village not a safe place to stay! Shame on sunwing to even rate this place a 3 star as I would not rate it a 1 star. Had to pay to be moved wasted 2 days of vacation time!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good resort

The place was beautiful and very friendly staff a couple of minor things is no hot water.We stayed in the renovated side the store on the resort is very very expensive a bottle of copper tone lotion was 38 dollars US .Also no 24 hour snack bar and never really changed up the menu.Room service was great clean grounds lots of if you can ignore them if’s all good

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Beautiful Resort

Loved the fun vibe of this resort. Ages varied from 20z to 80z. Very interactive with games around the pool and the evening shows were hilarious. Appropriate for all age groups.Beautiful walk to the beach every day that was filled with lots of nature. Great staff and really appreciated the top 40 music that was played poolside.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi Palm Beach Resort Puerto Plata

Number 1: If you have mobility issues this place is not for you. It is a giant maze with many many stairs to climb to get anywhere. While the room was clean and quaint the a/c unit was so load you could barely have a conversation while it is running. We were without hot water one evening and without hydro briefly. This is largely a time share organization which you are not told until after you are sucked into a tour. I found that very deceitful. The level of service is poor unless you are a me [... read more]mber. The buffet was sketchy as many items were not served at the required temperature making a host for bacteria. Only eat what is cooked and prepared in front of you. The reception desk were very impersonal. The only 2 genuine people were our cleaning lady Maura and another large lady who worked at the main bar. Otherwise most were not enthusiastic unless you flash cash. Booking al a carte was so frustrating we just stuck with buffet things we know to be safe to eat. We kept being told come back at such and such a time to book dinners. Not accommodating AT ALL. If you are not a time share member be prepared to be treated second rate. 2 tiered system going on here. The beach is small and water rough most days. The same people took the premium canopy beds EVERY DAY! Beer fridge stocked only once with 2 beer. Ridiculous when this is all inclusive resort. Premium alcohol only available for time share . Even ginger-ale could not be found. Didn't take on any tours as have been to Puerto Plata before and too sick to take in the entertainment what ever that may have been. Most disappointing trip. No wifi available unless you pay an extra fee of 80.00 for the week. Not even available in lobby. CRAZY! Had Options Plus was to include priority baggage handling. Arriving back at Pearson was a night mare. When luggage finally arrived and definitely not priory they were filthy and damaged.Customs was a nite mare. Maybe think of flying out of Hamilton in future. Definitely would not recommend this place.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Lovely friendly Resort

This resort is one of the cleanest resorts we have ever been too, the grounds are beautiful. There are two adult swimming pools, we were at both, our favourite was the quiet pool, Great area to relax, swim, enjoy conversation with others. The bigger pool is a great place to have some water fun. The food at this resort is very good, everything on the buffet was fresh, loads of salads to choose from, many varieties of fresh fruits, there was always fresh meats of the grill, pasta bar was awesome [... read more]. Drinks were good, beer was nice and cold. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. We had a great holiday and we will go back.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Resort

We had a very good time, very happy we choose this Resort. Would highly recommend this Place. The Food was awesome, the rooms great, no complains at all. Thank you for the great time, and awesome experience.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: nice new resort!

The hotel was very nice, room had nice king size bed that was very comfortable. The beach was beautiful and kept clean, Pools were kept clean. We liked the fact that the resort was not too big. Great vacation. We will be back soon :)

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Nice resort

The rooms are very spacious, clean,& beds comfortable. The resort staff were friendly and hard working, and eager to please. Food was plentiful and decent something for everyone! Beach is beautiful. However the resort need to get more lounge chairs for beach as well as more beach towels! The resort is quite large so there is a lot of walking if in the far complex ! Our vacation was great, really have no complaints!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Very Nice Resort

Hotel is very clean, spacious,excellent very from patio. We up graded to Select Flex, very happy we made that decision to up grade. We had our own pool, own bar, v.i.p. check in and the beach was own the properly next to the bar. Nice Location Short distance from the airport 15 to 20 minutes bus ride. Food was 7 out of 10 Staff very friendly and at your service. Security staff was interested in watching beach lounge chairs inside of monoriting daily operations.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Wonderful trip. Beautiful resort. Taylor was great! Highly recommended

Absolutely awesome!! Enjoyed every minute. This place has my best recommendations! Great people. Clean, fun and entertaining. Great place for a much needed holiday. You won’t be disappointed by the amenities or the excellent staff.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good resort

The resort was great. Staff was friendly and kind. Always smiling 😊 the only problem was there was not enough for the kids to do. We had 2 10 year olds and an 8 year old. They still had a great time. The food choices were great no one complained ever of being hungry. During meals you could go to the buffet style restaurant above the pool to eat. Kids even went there a couple times by themselves. However if you need to visit medical they are very very pushy and really want to just send you to  [... read more]the hospital. Make sure you purchase health insurance! My daughter had an allergic reaction to something while we were there and they did treat her onsite and told us to come back the next day so she could check on her. The next day we went back and my daughter was better however the doctor said she was not and really wanted her to go to the hospital. I refused and then she told me there could be something wrong with her kidneys. Crazy thing to say just to get me to go!! We did not go and my daughter was 100% better the next day. Took her to the doctors when we got home and she is fine! Overall I would rate this experience at 8/10! We would definitely go to the Dominican Republic again!

Overall, we were very impressed with the resort. The pool, beach and the food serving facility were impressive. We were extremely impressed with the staff to keep the entire facility clean. The food courts were kept very clean with immediate attention to any spills. The most important things important to a Caribbean vacation were covered. Don't forget to bring your tip money for all meals, because you will get the cold shoulder by the waiters at your next meal. Recommend taking some excursions as it is an awesome opportunity to see Dominican way of life. Very amazing to see traffic flow with all the mopeds especially to see how many people can fit on one. Despite everybody cutting everybody off, no one seems to get upset and continue on their merry way. The Dominican way of life, despite the poverty, appears to love life as they figured out how to eliminate stress from their life!! Something we all need to learn!!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Definately Going Back

Loved this resort. Would highly recomemd. Rooms very comfortable, food was great, pool and beach were perfect. Very clean resort. Employees very polite, helpful, and obliging. Definately going to holiday here again soon

Paradise Playa Dorada: Extra ordinary trip the resort was better looking than the picture on the internet

The hotel rooms were very specious and clean the bathroom was Very big and place to put your stuff . My room was a loft which it even more extraordinary .it was like really different for Me and my family. The dining was well kept at all time. The food was delicious and there was a variety. The grounds was much better looking in person than the picture on the internet clean up to date and decorated the best was valentines. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great spot for a rest

This resort has a lot going for it with only a few negatives: Plus Side- Food is excellent, staff are wonderful and beach is beautiful.
