Excellence Riviera Cancun: Another outstanding visit.

Our 5th visit to Excellence Riviera Cancun, November 22 – December 6th, was excellent. We were delighted to find the road from the highway to the resort has been paved; what a difference. We received a warm welcome from Gustavo, our favourite former waiter in Barcelona who is now with the bellboy team. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch each day at The Barcelona and there was something to please every taste. A friendly greeting from Gabriela, Armando to ensure everything was running smoothly and Isac, Jose and Martin to look after us made for a pleasant experience each day. The addition of the Mexican specialties at lunch was a treat for the taste buds; poblano chili turkey breast, chicken in guajillo pepper sauce, chicken chimichanga, chicken tinga, chicken wings with pasilla pepper sauce, marinated beef, beef meatballs in guajillo chilli sauce and beef tacos were some of our favourites. The ice cream, as always, was outstanding and I loved the breads and pineapple filled berlines at breakfast and the Paris Brest at lunch. We ate at Chez Isabelle six times, Spice and Toscana three nights each and twice at The Grill. With the exception of one dinner in Chez Isabelle, all meals were excellent. There is a daily menu at Chez Isabelle that runs on a 30 day cycle which is the reason we ate there so often. Juan oversees the restaurant and the excellent staff and the renovations last year has resulted in a larger but still intimate setting. It was wonderful to see Ramon moving up from his former position in The Barcelona. The Grill and Lobster House menu has been combined and offerings reduced while the restaurant is being renovated. Santiago is a great Manager and always provides a warm welcome. The tenderloin I had was exceptional, my husband’s lobster a bit chewy. We look forward to a return of the regular menu next year and the newly renovated restaurant. Ramon oversees Toscana and was always willing to provide special requests. We were delighted to have Guillermo serve us again this year. Dio, our favourite waiter from Chez Isabelle, is now providing excellent service at Spice. Isabel at Revive prepared excellent smoothies each day and our mini bar was restocked daily. The renovations underway had no effect on us but, that being said, we stayed at one of the quiet pools. If you prefer to be where the noise/action is, I would suggest the end of February as an ideal time to visit to ensure the renovations are completed. The ONLY negatives were the shower temperature/water pressure fluctuation, and the bolsters and pillows on the huge, comfy pool beds getting soaked by the rain or blown into the water. I realize it would create more work but, for 5 stars, I would expect these items to be collected and stored indoors overnight as they were in the past. We are looking forward to our return next year already!!!

Seadust Cancun Beach Resort: Awesome Resort

The first thing I noticed was how clean it was, the staff were very professional and everyone right down to cleaning staff were extremely friendly, my favorite retaurant was the french restaurant. This was my first trip to Mexico and I really enjoyed it, we didn't leave the resort very often, there is always something going on, the entertainment staff were awesome

Excellence Playa Mujeres: The Best Again

WE have stayed at this resort twice now. I wanted something special for our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff went above and WAY beyond to make this the most enjoyable week imaginable. As usual the food, drinks, and grounds were 10 out of 10.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Best Vacation Yet

I will start with the service as I feel the service needs to be mentioned first. TOP NOTCH service, as we were treated as Royals. The staff is very well organized and they work well as a team to please the guests. The resort is clean, quiet and small. The pools are large and have a variety of themes/atmosphere (quiet/music or shade) You need to save lounge chairs by 8 am poolside by throwing a towel on each chair. The price was great and the resort was just what we looked for for our December vacation! Thanks for the memories. We recommend the all day excursion to cenote/ruins!!

Riu Santa Fe: Mexico's New Hot Spot for sure.

Our fifth 2 week vacation here and will be back next year. Absolutely love this resort and area. One $ US. will get you to downtown to check out Cabo Wabo Canteena. The hurricane did a lot of damage in this area but it was not really noticeable at the resort.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: A five star resort in every way!

My daughter booked the Iberostar Playa Mita to celebrate my 70th birthday. The personal service we received daily was truly appreciated. As well, the many activities offered, found us on the go whenever we decided to participate. The layout of the compound was especially appreciated; ocean frontage, immaculate grounds and centrally located pools. Accommodations were superb. The resort was five star in every way!

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Great resort

I visited the resort with my wife, at the beginning of December. We received good service throughout our stay and would consider visiting again. Our room was an ocean view room with a king size bed and a huge shower.House keeping did a great job, they came in twice a day to make up our room and fill the mini fridge! There were a lot of options for food and we really enjoyed eating at the Pacific Express restaurant!! There was a coffee shop on the resort which made the best cappuccino! My wife and I really liked walking on the beach !! There were lots of smooth colourful rocks and the ocean was warm and fairly calm!! Overall I could say that we had a great time at Iberostar!

Riu Santa Fe: Review of Riu Santa Fe

My friends and I had an amazing time at the resort. It was generally clean, staff was friendly, had a variety of food. You could hardly tell that it was effected by the hurricane a couple months ago. I did, however, find there was a lack of problem skills for some of the staff we dealt with. Otherwise, we definitely felt like it was a good pick.

Las Hadas by Brisas: Brilliant facility, but......

While we were impressed with the hotel, it's general upkeep and the quality and care of the landscaping and outside areas, we felt the dining staff in all the dining areas were unfocused and undertrained. It is as easy to give excellent service as it is to give poor, and at no extra cost! We were led to dirty tables, staff hovered to take our plates before we had finished and tables were inadequately laid. The staff were charming and eager to please but seemed undirected. We felt that with appropriate and participatory management from the very top this hotel could regain its standing as an impressive and exciting venue for world travellers and without this push, it will gradually drift into anonymity.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Grand

No kids...friendly hard work staff... Clean hotel a bit noise coming through the rooms from hall ways Spa way too expensive!!! You need a ten package 7 too short and 14 too long!! Change up the evening shows tried of the same!! Show a new release movie!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Excellent Resort!

Rooms were clean, food was good, staff were very friendly. I would definitely go back! The beach wasn't as "pretty" as other beaches in the area, but the pools were clean and refreshing. The staff were awesome!!!

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Great Value

If your looking for a resort on property this is a great place to be If you want off resort activity's you might want to look else were As this property is located a long ways from any were With that being said this is a year old resort that is totally taken the mistakes of older resorts & done them right Rooms are great basic but great Staff as all mexico are fantastic ( as tips are appreciated there not expected ) The food was above standard The shows although the state of the art theater in m [... read more]y opinion sub standard Although I do not have kids it looks amazing for children I am not a big fan of screaming kids but in all honesty even though they were plenty full they were not an issue . The property is amazing as is all the infrastructure . I have been to Mexico 20 or so times and was pleasantly surprised by this resort I would put it in the top 5 of all the resorts I have stayed (3.5 stars to 5 stars ) If you want to stay in your resort do not miss out on this one It is differently top shelf

Riu Tequila: Outstanding Hotel

Having stayed in many resort hotels over the years, this is the best that we have come across so far. The rooms were spotless, the facilities were excellent, and the food was phenomenal. The variety and quality were outstanding. The nightly entertainment too was excellent. When we stayed there, the occupancy rate was 100%. The maximum number of guests is 1,800,. The staff total was 335. If there is one drawback, it is located a 10 minutes walk from the beach, but this is made up for by the many  [... read more]pluses. The hotel does provide a shuttle service. This hotel is scheduled to be renovated in about three years. Some of the nearby other Rius have already had a makeover, and the results are terrible.All metal and glass. This hotel has thus far retained its Mexican spirit. MAY IT NEVER LOSE THAT SPIRIT!

Excellence Riviera Cancun: A wonderful relaxing holiday resort

Beautiful resort---grounds well kept and attractive. Food in every restaurant is excellent. Enjoyed having lunch at the Oregano outdoor restaurant and Luis, a very pleasant waiter. Bar waiters are amazing how they can prepare any drink so quickly and with a smile. All staff always had a Hola which makes one want to keep coming back.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good value

This resort is still great value for your dollar, we had great weather, good food and the people were very friendly. On the down side, Akumal is no longer assessable and this was the best area and best beaches. 5 of the 6 times we previously stayed at this resort was at Akumal. You can use the beach but no drinks or food. They are selling this off as time shares. If we had known that when we booked, we may have gone elsewhere. The second thing is there is a real lack of chairs (lounging chairs)  [... read more]around all the pools. They need 50% more, many people could not find a place. Beyond that we had a good time.

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Nice Relaxing Resort

The salt water pool are was great! A nice spot to relax and enjoy the sounds of the ocean. The food was above expectations, something for everyone. They catered very well to a Gluten / Dairy free diet! Would return

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: NOW Amber - GO NOW

4th time at this property. The service, food and amenities keep drawing me back. Whenever you say thank you to a hotel employee, their response is "it was my pleasure" and they mean it. Hotel rooms are superb. You will really enjoy this hotel, shared with the Secret hotel next door.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Service was better than a Sandals Resort!

The most exceptional thing about this resort is the staff and their level of service. I have travelled to many 5 star resorts over the last 20 years, including Sandals, and the service here was unparalled. Every single staff is friendly, helpful, attentive, and makes you feel like a VIP. They are really focused on ensuring you enjoy your well-deserved vacation. Rooms were quite nice and well appointed. They were roomy and we had no issues whatsoever. Excellence Club is really worth it: Private  [... read more]heated pools, bars and beach area; Concierge service at each pool; upgraded room service. When we asked them to stock our fridge with only a particular brand of beer, it was done that day. Several requests were executed well and they even followed up with a call to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Food was also excellent (comparable to a Sandals really). Lots of options and love the "no reservations" policy (except for the Hibachi dinners in Spice). We only had to wait once for 10 minutes... all other times, we were seated immediately. Favourite restaurant was Basmati (best indian cuisine I've ever had!) and Chez Elisabeth (French restaurant). Lunch place on the beach (Lobster House and Steak House) were also really wonderful with lots of a la carte choices (I mean lots) and never a bad meal! Grounds are very clean, well manicured. The only negative was the state of the beach... which wasn't the resorts fault. There is a lot of algae in this area due to proximity to Isla Mujeres. You could not go swimming without being wrapped with weeds. Very few people were swimming in the ocean. In 20 years, I have never returned to the same place twice. This is my first exception. I would actually go back here again and strongly recommend it to all my family and friends. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Barcelo Karmina: Amazing

Food wasn't the greatest but the pools are ok I also liked the service the people that work there are very pleasant. The room was perfect. And yes I would recommend this resort to friends.and yes I would return if the price was right.

Barcelo Maya Palace: nice resort

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? The hotel was clean and well maintained. The sinage around the property - indicating the resturants and buldings - and shopping and other ammenities was lacking. Front staff did not clearly explain where all the resturants were that were available to us.
