Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan Beach Resort: Travelled March 7-14

Resort is small but very nice, all rooms have ocean view! Beach is beautiful however water was very cold and hard to get into! Restaurants were very good, too bad the Asian/ snack bar was outside, it was windy all week and cool in the evenings so made it hard to sit outside. Staff at the restaurants and bars were fantastic and friendly, quiet resort as bar does not open until 10am and closes by 1030pm, no swim up bar either contrary to what is on line. All in all a nice place. This is the first  [... read more]resort we have stayed where there were also time share rooms, this made it awkward as you had to scan your "room" wrist band for everything...as all inclusive there was never a charge but scanning had to happen before leaving any restaurant. Our last day was ridiculous as the band stopped working at 12 and if we wanted food or drinks we had to pay out of pocket... It should be "all inclusive" until pick up to the airport...pretty sure the band could be programmed to reflect this! The resort is a bit far from the Malecon and the old downtown, but the "green bus" will get you there for 13 peso's. Would we stay here again, maybe not as there are many other places to stay closer to city centre and we felt a little pricy for what was there, but it was a great first trip to Mazatlan!

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Just okay

Grounds were nice. Rooms are very outdated, pictures online are not what you're getting. Need more food options, buffet was the same thing on repeat and only 2 other restaurants. Expected more. Area was nice, short walk to the marina.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: March 2025 - had a lovely time!

We were the last to get off our airport shuttle bus, making for a long day of travel (numerous drop-off stops along the way). Thankful at least for the 11pm-7am Truck restaurant, as we came in late and hungry! Check-in was relatively painless, as we were the only people coming in at that time. Front desk staff was cordial, although things sometimes took a while to get resolved. We were given a room with two double beds and asked to be switched to one with a king-size bed. After a soft sel [... read more]l on a room upgrade (we politely declined) they agreed they could accommodate if we came back in the morning. Well, it actually took a couple days, but they did eventually come through ... so we had a king-size bed for the last seven nights of our stay. Zuriel was courteous and understanding, and did his best to follow through on our behalf whenever on duty. The buffet had lots of variety, including fish and vegetarian options - overall very good to excellent. We booked all four a la carte restaurants right away, no problem. In our opinion Thali Indian was the best. (Tequila Mexican seemed to be an extension of the Mexican section of the buffet.) Resort is huge and with all the action being focused in the central main pool area, we didn't stray too far most days. Worth noting that it was much more peaceful at the pool/beach near Andale burger joint and no trouble finding a lounge chair there. Recreation staff started volleyball twice daily, 11am and 3pm - excellent! Never had a problem getting a game going. Wind was a challenge most days, but affected everyone equally. Good fun! Overall the resort is well maintained, with a friendly staff. Beach was a bit of a construction zone, with their ongoing attempts to clear the weeds. Not a resort issue, but we felt a little cheated by our 10:30pm arrival time and 5:15am departure time. Nine days was more like 8.25 really. I will look more closely at this the next time I consider Air Transat vacations.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: a big deception for us

Many issues : -Base sewage odors inside the room, bathroom and outside the patio I couldnt sit down there and I can't put my clothes to dry. -My face and son's completely changed . (iritation and pimples) I never had any skin problems. We both came with clear skin.We had stomach aches and diarhee. -My son's eyes got burned -I falled down due to negligence the roof was leaking and there was no signage. Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Will never go again

I will premise this review by saying in general the resort was decent. Rooms are in need of some love but to be expected in an older resort. Food was decent. My biggest problem was the the fact that this resort was over run with spring breakers. The RIU policy says specifically that it does not allow spring breakers. Very untrue. I would say approximatley 70% were and they were obnoxious and drunk and rude. Spoke to the resort customer service and they basically said too bad. You  [... read more]could not even get into the adult pool or the bar associated with it. If RIU is not going to honor their own policy take it off the website. We would have chosen differently if we had known.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Awesome location

Beautiful grounds, excellent pools. Rooms are "tired" but clean. Food needs improvement, most items seam recycled, and all lacking flavour. Even the specialty restaurants, are lacking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Frustrated by signs all over stating no reserving pool side loungers, yet all have towels, bags, etc on them by 8am, and folks often don't show up to use them for 3 or 4 hours.

Riu Palace Baja California: Amazing time in Cabo!

The staff was amazing, especially Fernando at the Gold Bar, and Emmanuel and Itzel at the buffet. The Asian and Mexican restaurants, and the buffet were excellent… housekeeping staff did a great job, everyone was so friendly. The guest room showers could’ve been hotter, but the bathtub water was piping hot so maybe just an issue in our room.

Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta Hotel: Lovely Hotel

This was a lovely location and hotel. The staff were excellent! Service was great! Food we loved. We only did one ali carte as we enjoyed the food at the pool (ordering from a menu) as well as the dining room. Mexican night on Thursday nights was fabulous! For improvement: More entertainment would be appreciated. Also the lobby bar could use some improvement. The music that they play is far from welcoming or relaxing. Not inviting at all. I would of liked more calm relaxing music. The [... read more] decor could use lift to make it more inviting. The staff at the bar were good, service was good. Just not a place to relax and visit over a nice drink. Music way to loud and not relaxing! I gave the beach/pool a 4 for the pool, the beach is rocking would only be a 2 to me. Lovely listening to the ocean though.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great weather and Food

We were at the resort from Feb 25 to March 7 2025. It was very busy due to US march break but the staff did well. Room -Initially we did not get the room we booked but, after escalating to the manager we got into the right room. -The room was very nice big shower, nice bed, good A.C and view of the ocean. -We were suppose to have daily minibar replenishment but on several days this did not happen We avoided having to go to the almost standard timeshare presentation but were asked a few  [... read more]times and provided incentives to attend Food -There is no separate buffet for adults only but a separate section in the main buffet. -There are only 2 restaurants on the hideaway section so you will need to eat in the none adult area if you want variety -also book the restaurants early in the am as they fill up fast. Beach/Pool - Next to impossible to find chairs at the pool if you dont get up real early, they do have bali beds that cost a fortune. Best option is to ask a pool boy for assistance as they do 'reserve' chairs that they can give you. Beach is nice with long area to walk but warning signs about crocodiles and their where some sightings when we where there

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Wonderful family vacation spot

Exceptional resort with professional and friendly staff. Excellent selection at the buffets which were always stocked with fresh food. Was able to book all the a la cart restaurants but must do so as soon as you check in because they fill up fast and ideal times were limited. Only issue with the room was the patio glass door, very hard to open and would slip off its tracks.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great spit

This place was very good. Staff are excellent and very kind. Servers were amazing and very attentive. Food was excellent!! Beach was ok and snorkeling was very good. My only complaint was that our bed was awful. Squeaky and very worn.

Decameron Isla Coral: Basic but Satisfactory

We are from Canada and booked this resort very last minute (just a week before we left) for our “babymoon.” We paid $2,200 each for the week which was a bit pricey for what you get, but maybe you can find cheaper pricing if you book far enough in advance. I would say this resort is probably worth spending around $1,800 for the week. The hotel is about an hour and a half ride on the bus from the airport in PVR and is mostly on a windy road. We were torn between which of the three resorts to choose from, and I’m glad we went with Isla Coral as it was the smallest resort and the beach area was the quietest. The Marina had the exact same layout. Los Cocos seems to be a different style/layout but is not on the beach (you have to walk across the street). Arrival: We didn’t realize that there was a time change from Puerto Vallarta - the time is an hour behind. Not a huge deal but good to know! Most of the staff don’t speak English, so there is a language barrier. We got checked in but nothing was explained to us. We were simply provided our ID, got our room keys and a brochure and were left to our own devices. Food: We checked out the buffets at all 3 locations and everything was the same. The only difference between the food at the different resorts (aside from the speciality restaurants) was that Los Cocos had an official snack bar - but you can get the same burgers etc at the buffets. Buffets were good, but pretty basic. The food was good quality and we didn’t get sick, it was just repetitive. We did have two Mexican themed nights which were the best. We tried to get into the steakhouse speciality restaurant but it seemed to be closed everyday. We now think that it was only opened on Fridays, maybe Saturdays? The problems were that 1) we weren’t advised at check in of the dates the speciality restaurants were open - it seems they weren’t all open everyday 2) you have to go to the front desk at 9am in the morning to reserve a speciality restaurant, which we weren’t told about. We just got lucky one day when I went to ask about the restaurant booking procedure as the Marina was open that evening and still had a spot open for the evening and they let us book it. We aren’t big seafood fans, so we only ended up trying one speciality restaurant at the Marina called the El Dorado (Mediterranean), which was decent enough. You get access to an app where you are supposed to be able to book the seafood restaurant at Los Isla but it didn’t work for us. I would venture out for some food as the buffet gets repetitive and boring. Also, the drip coffee at the buffet was pretty weak, and there is a cappuccino machine hiding in the back of the speciality restaurant area but was pretty nasty tasting coffee. Here are some off resort recommendations, all within 10 minutes walking distance from the resort: #1 Juan's Place - actually so good. You must go here. On the beach. Cash only. #2 Tonita - right beside the resort on the beach. Most authentic Mexican restaurant and also the guac is the best we’ve ever had. Cash only. #3 The Albatross - decent food, we had steak and salmon. It’s not a must go, but it’s another nice location on the beach. They accept credit cards. Coffee: #1 Cafe Nay - about 5 minutes from the resort. Great coffee. They accept credit cards. They aren’t consistently open though so check the hours on google. #2 - Coffee House - about a 10 minute walk from the resort. You have to cross the highway by the gas station. This is a modern/Mexican chain. Coffee is good and they also have sandwiches and pastries etc. They accept credit cards. There is also a convenience store a few steps away from the hotel for snacks/coffee etc. Rooms: You are technically getting an ocean view room, but the balconies are all facing the pool side so it’s noisy/uncomfortable sitting on your balcony because you don’t have any real privacy - we unfortunately didn’t use our balcony as a result. I’m not sure how you score the few rooms that are actually directly facing the ocean, but it may just be luck of the draw. Rooms are very basic. Beds and pillows are rock hard. I would suggest bringing your own pillow if you can (I slept with my airplane pillow). Sheets/linens are nice, although very thin - but it was hot so didn’t need anything more. We didn’t have face cloths on the first day but then they consistently brought us fresh ones everyday which was nice. They also provided us with fresh towels everyday, and one day when we needed extras we went to the front desk and they gave us some more no problem. It was also hit or miss when we would get a shower mat (hence we needed more towels). They have a mini split in the room so you can control the air conditioning which is great. They supply you with a big 1L of bottled water everyday, and you can ask the front desk if you need more. They also have a water cooler in the buffet area to fill up your water if needed. Beach/Pool: As all the reviews reflect, the beach is amazing and the resort is on the beach. It’s really nice because it’s easy to run back and forth to your hotel room. There was never an issue getting a chair on the beach, no matter what the time was. For some reason it was a common occurrence for many different groups of people to be blaring their own music which was frustrating when trying to relax/read. The buskers were very consistent on the beach and a bit annoying when you were trying to relax but they were nice and typically left when you said no without further pushing. The pool was decent, and even though it was shaded during the day, it was nice to escape the heat and go into for a quick cool down. In terms of the pool towels, do not panic about bringing your towel back before 6pm. You can just keep it in your room and exchange for a new towel whenever you would like. You can also exchange for your pool towel card at any point. We just turned in our towels at check out instead of our pool towel cards and we didn’t have any issues. Other: 1. There were bathrooms pool side/beside the buffet and a few steps up from the beach was great 2. We found the resort to be clean 4. Cash - this may be new, but US cash is not really accepted (we read that US cash was widely accepted in Puerto Vallarta area and because we booked last minute, we didn’t have time to get Pesos). The resort will only exchange Canadian currency and there are no banks within walking distance. 5. Market - there is a local market right by the resort on Monday. The town is also really close by and has lots of shops to explore. 6. The resort isn’t filled with your typical North American crowd. You have a lot of different cultures and locals which to us was a nice change. Overall, we enjoyed our stay although this resort wouldn’t have been a typical choice for us.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Beautiful resort

We stayed at the Quetzal for 10 days in early March. We were very pleasantly surprised at the beautiful grounds. It is literally a jungle with numerous waterfalls, an abundance of vegetation as well as different animals. The reception was very quick and we were given a nice room in an excellent location; building 26. The buildings and the grounds were kept in exceptional condition...very clean and well maintained. The resort is a nice size, not too big so easy to get from one end to the other. The pools are beautiful and kept very clean; lots of loungers and palapas. The main pool is very close to the beach so it's nice to be able to see the ocean. The beach is huge...very wide with beautifl white sand and again lots of loungers and palapas. The water here is tourquoise blue and very clear. The food was excellent, very tasty with lots of variety. It was very convenient to have the option of a full lunch or quick burger/hot dog in the restaurant by the beach. We enjoyed participating in the aqua fit in the morning and the entertainment every night. All in all, this is a very nice, clean and well maintained resort and we would highly recommend it.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: The best holiday ever!

The grounds are well manicured and so green. I love watching the the little critters roaming around. Our room was clean and comfortable. When our fridge wasn’t working properly, staff quickly replaced it for a new one. When our toilet was plugged, staff came in right away to fix it. The food was so good and tasty. A la carte meals were fabulous, except for Mediterranean restaurant. It was terrible. Food and service. Beach was water was amazing. Beautiful clear, turquoise water, and could could e [... read more]ven see all the colourful fish very close to the shore. Did not have to rush and place a towel down to safe a chair. There were lots of shelter chairs to choose from. Staff are extremely friendly, and funny. Enjoyed the gym every morning. Loved the store at Coba where 1/3 of merchandise is 70% off. Such a great deal! I cannot say enough about this resort. I would highly recommend it!???The location is the only negative thing about it. It’s a 1 hr. and 45 minute drive from airport to resort.They have to drop off people along the way too.

Tropicana Hotel: Loved the Tropicana!

The Tropicana is located in the Romantic Zone, amid the cobblestone streets and directly on the beach. The rooms all have a balcony overlooking the grounds and the beach. The room is large and spotless; housekeeping cleans it and replaces the towels daily. The tv has Canadian, American and Spanish stations. The restaurant is clean with very attentive wait staff. We had breakfast included in our fee but it wasn’t a great idea because there was little choice. We basically ate the same thing every  [... read more]day. No matter, the hotel is close to literally hundreds of restaurants. The hotel had two lovely pools but not a lot of room around them for chairs. People lined up before 9 when the chairs were put out and threw their towels on them to reserve them and sometimes didn’t come back for hours. Although this is against the hotel rules, they didn’t enforce it. Before 8 am, people lined up to get the best chairs on the beach. No matter though as the staff brought out as many as needed, and they were under regular or palm umbrellas. The scenery and sunsets from our balcony were spectacular. I really loved this hotel and Puerto Vallarta, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. I should mention also that it is evident that PV is very gay friendly. I was happy to see our lgbt+ brothers and sisters enjoy themselves in a beautiful, safe place where they are catered to.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Loved it!

The resort had everything I was looking for. The beach was long for walks. The swimming areas in the ocean were super. I snorkelled right off the shore. Very good food in the alacarte restaurants. Entertainment was wonderful. Would recommend this resort.

All areas of resort clean. Availability of transport from rooms to locations was excellent by very courteous staff. Of course restaurant staff where welcoming and efficient.The only issue I had was the abundance of the long tailed animals and racoons. I believe they are starting to overwhelm the resort.

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Some changes required

We have been going to Buenaventura for 20 years, we love the staff, the location and the vibe from this resort Each year we go and meet up with our many friends and reconnect and explore what new updates the resort has completed, each time we go there is always something new A concern from this trip was the food choices at the Buffet and the one and only a la carte restaurant Breakfast at the Buffet was delicious although it was noticed that the fruit selection was limited and the bacon wa [... read more]s hit or miss The hotel needs to embrace the coffee and tea drinkers of todays generation I had to go searching each day for a cup of tea Why don’t you set up a coffee bistro The menus have changed at the sunset restaurant since the last time we were there they eliminated the soup and salad bar at lunch and several of the staples , the club house sandwich the shrimp screwers We actually didn’t go to for dinner because there wasn’t anything that interested us on the menu several other guests said they were disappointed as well Our room was perfect and always clean One negative regarding the pool side The hotel needs to purchase more chairs and umbrellas The solution of “the pool cop” isn’t working People weren’t allowed to be away from their lounger for more then 15 mins or your stuff was removed We had to stagger our time away or notify that we would be going to breakfast where we were told we had 20 mins Not a relaxing trip Other then that we had a great time as always

Secrets Playa Mujeres: great resort

Everything was exelent staff is amazing polite always asking if everything is ok. The food is very good, The gym is well equiped when there evryday. The only thing they try to sell you upgrade when you arrived. bed at the beach at 200$ US per day is a non sense at the price you pay.to go at this resort.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Worst resort I have ever stayed at. Run even if the price is cheap. This place is a 1 or 2 star at best.

Rooms rundown. TVs not working in the entire resort all week. Hot water slow to come out. Food not good no taste overcooked few choices. Only 2 resturants lineups at peak dining hours. The Secrets and Dream hotel guests could come over and use our one pool take our chairs and eat in the 2 small restaurants and we could not use their amenities. Staff wanted us to move to Dreams for 300 US dollars and kept asking us daily to sign up for preferred membership. From what we saw it didn't really look  [... read more]much better at the Dreams and Secret hotels. Our pool was family friendly and the beach was nice. Only one bar and alcohol was watered down not tastey . When you are on holidays you hope for good food and drinks not at this resort. I am not a picky person. If you don't mind overcooked greasy food not Mexican then this is the place. If you wanted a beach chair you had to get up at 7am to put your towels down. One morning our towel and chairs were taken while we were at breakfast. Every man for himself. I would not go to this resort even if it was offered for free. I have travelled to many all inclusive resorts and this was the worst. Nothing to do in the evening only one show all week.
