Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful resort

Everything was clean, efficient, and very friendly. The food was very good. The beach was excellent. The grounds were landscaped perfectly. The shuttle service to the Bavaro Palace was always available which was especially nice for seniors. The pool, buffet, and bar were centrally located around the rooms so there was not much walking.

Allegro Cozumel: Nice resort except for the rooms

The rooms at this resort are terrible. They're small, dated, not the cleanest, and our upper-floor room had a leaky roof (so did our friends'). Staff aren't quick to repair the roof, they just ask whether it's leaking on the bed (if not I guess it's not a priority), and tell you to move all electronics away from the leak. Beyond that, they attend to it when they see fit. There was a distinct smell of raw sewage in our bathroom all week. You either get a king-size bed or two double beds, and it b [... read more]ecomes very difficult to switch if you don't like what you initially get. The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbours conversing at normal volume even with your door and windows closed. In the evenings, the show/entertainment can be heard from almost every spot on the resort, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. If the quality of the room makes or breaks your vacation, do not stay here. Nice beach and pool areas, very clean, easy to get a chair in the morning, bars and washrooms are well-located. Service is good (except for front desk). The food is great, lots of variety and good quality. I have several food-related sensitivities and I had no problem finding adequate meal items. The meal times are great - they don't hem you into a two-hour lunch window, etc. Drinks are served in reusable (not disposable) plastic cups, and there are no straws. So if this type of thing bothers you, bring your own. There's no lobby bar which is a bit odd. This resort is geared towards families with small children- there is a pool dedicated exclusively to kids (play structures, water slides, etc). It looks like a great place to bring kids. The resort is small and easy to navigate.

Barcelo Huatulco: Nice resort

Enjoyed this resort..very clean and friendly. Comfortable beds, food is good. Long lineups to book a la carte. Had the Italian a la carte, it was terrible..was fried mozzarella with tomato sauce, chicken parmesan and dessert..the fried mozzarella was cold and sits on tomato slices (no sauce), the chicken was so tough you couldn't cut it and the dessert was so hard it was like a rock. If you want a lounge chair you have to get up real early to put your towels out to save your chair. This resort is fairly quiet..had a good time.

Barcelo Huatulco: Good Resort

The grounds are very well maintained. The beach was good but hard to walk due to the slope and sand you sink in pretty much up to your ankles. Staff are very good and very clean rooms. Downsides were you need to get up at 5:30 a.m. to put your towel out on a chair or you are not getting a spot. Also, line ups to book an a la carte restaurant are ridiculously long.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Third Time's the Charm!

This is the third time for us at this venue. We stayed twice before (2001 and 2003) and were surprised at the many upgrades since those long ago vacations. The grounds were groomed to the nth degree; the guest rooms are roomy and clean; maid service was excellent, and while we normally prefer not to dine at buffets, this one was a surprise because the menu selections were plenty, varied, and interesting, so we found ourselves drawn to the Carib buffet. However, the servers were so accommodating and polite in the Carib that we found ourselves drawn to it. Unfortunately, for some reason, we could never find "snacking" venues at the resort to tide us over between scheduled dining times, and for later in the evenings--we prefer to dine lighter and more often rather than three large meals. Clean large beach towels were always available, pool areas were spotless and pools were temperate and pristine. We particularly enjoyed seeing a beautiful peacock strutting about here and there with his more drab harem of peahens following. All in all, a wonderful venue. My husband enjoyed it as much as I did.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Very impressed with this resort

The grounds were very clean, the people were very helpful. The food was very good. the weather was fantastic. I loved that we could visit the Palace. Lots of variety in the drinks at the bar. Loved that bottled water was available at any bar and you did not have to stand in line for it.Would go back to this resort

Occidental Punta Cana: Amazing resort

Staff is friendly rooms are great common areas are breathtaking food is good swimming pool is nice I say overall it was a nice experience there Santos at the pool bar was amazing back yard of the ground floor room is amazing thanks everyone .

Occidental Punta Cana: Just ok

Grounds hotel and beach very nice service was not consistent at all and for most part poor. Did not matter wether you tipped or not,we found that hotel staff not friendly not willing to help.We totally felt uncomfortable and not welcome for the most part, promises were made and never delivered. This is not a hotel I would recommend or ever return to.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: The place is amazing!

BTW, this is our first time giving a review and the reason is because we had one of the best times ever. We went to this resort the 2nd week of Jan 2019. The place is as it appears on the pictures, fantastic; the location is great, the beach is long and beautiful although the water a little choppy, the staff were warm and helpful, the rooms and our experience was fantastic. The food quality the best we've had at any all inclusive resort. I recommend the resort to all who are looking for quality at the cost advertised, worth every penny. Our assessment of this resort is no exaggeration. We look forward to returning.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Wonderful West Mexico!

The room was really large with two bathrooms and two king sized beds. Great view of the ocean. The pools are great, and so are the hot tubs. The grounds were nice. The food was very good (especially the a la cart restaurants. Service was good and the staff are very attentive. I would consider returning for sure.

Occidental Papagayo: A resort with opportunity

The location of the resort is great with a short commute from the airport. The check in process was very confusing and we didnt recieve all of the welcome package.The resort is clean and the staff are friendly. However the room always carried an odour with limited space to unpack your suitcase. The food is just standard with a few moments of brilliance. Barcelo Maya Caribe: Barcelo Maya Caribe January 19 – 26, 2019 Best Trip Ever!!!

So not sure what went on with this trip, but all the planets sun and moon must have been in alignment as everything went just perfect for us. It all started for us on Sunday morning at 1.00am when we got to our hotel. We were served by David at front desk who was very friendly despite the hour. We inquired if our room was on the top level as requested and David told us unfortunately, they didn’t have anything higher up but he asked us to give him a minute and then said he was going to upgrad [... read more]e us to a VIP swimout suite because he wanted us to enjoy our vacation. We were of course blown away by this special service. David also arranged for Isaac (bell boy) to take our luggage to our room. Isaac got a golf cart loaded our luggage and drove us to the room and got us settled quickly. He showed us our room and our incredible swim out pool and Jacuzzi, what a room!!! Isaac was so nice and helpful and this in early morning hours. Because we got in so late we ordered room service the next morning. It was amazing, we ate out on our patio beside our swim out pool in total relaxation. Just heavenly. On Wednesday night the front desk manager Christian Romero called us to inquire about our stay and see if everything was satisfactory. He then suggested we should try the Premium Level for the last few days of our vacation. We went to the front desk to talk to him and he then told us he was going to upgrade us to the Privilege Level status and for the rest of our trip and we enjoyed amazing perks. Free Wi-Fi, 24 Hour room service, top shelf liquor etc. etc. Christian was so kind in doing this for us. This was our 3rd visit to the Caribe and our 9th to the Barcelo Maya resort complex. We have never been disappointed. And the friends we have recommended the Barcelo Resort to have enjoyed the same wonderful holiday. We really can’t say enough about the hotel and staff as they they’re all so friendly and accommodating. So many to thank such as Fernando and Mario at the Brasserie restaurant. Their service and attention is impeccable. Also, Jose at La Fuentes, so friendly and helpful and many, many more. This was our best trip ever all because of the wonderful staff at the Maya Caribe. We would highly recommend this resort and would go back in a heart beat.

Barcelo Huatulco: Beaufiful but some challenges

Huatulco is a beautiful area, safe with amazing people. The Barcelo is clean with wonderful people who work there. The challenges were lining up every morning at 8 am, as hotel services opened at 9am to book an a la carte dinner for that night. Reservations are only made day of for the a la cartes. This is really a waste of your morning as sometimes the line up ran through the lobby. The second challenge is there are no towel cards. You can take as many towels as you want. So people cover mul [... read more]tiple chairs around the pool and beach area with many towels. If you come down at 8 am to find a chair they are all taken with a towel. Sometimes nobody even shows up all day. This is very frustrating and should be monitored by the resort. The food was ok at the resort. Not great but ok. Sometimes items ran out like, butter, cream for coffee, jam and guacamole etc.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Quality Resort

Our stay there was great. The staff ( all staff) were so friendly and accommodating. Food was good. They have a huge selection. With that being said, there wasn't a 24 hour "burger pit" so to say because we were always hungry at dinner times and if you didn't eat then you were starving later. Other than that it was a great resort, fun activities, and lots to do.

Barcelo Maya Palace: A great family vacation place!

We went with our one-year-old and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! The grounds were easy to navigate, the dining was exceptional, and the staff took great care of all our needs (Thanks, Juan Carlos, Carlos Santiz, Leyli Gomez, and Esmeralda Jimenez!). We loved the intimacy and privacy that the Palace offered and the dining options kept us entertained and full every night! Our little guy loved the kids park and the adult pool which he floated around in every day!

Occidental Cozumel: Amazing Resort!

We stayed at the Occidental Royal Level mid January for 1 week. We loved it. The grounds are immaculate, and sooo lush. The food was average to very good. The ala cartes were excellent. The rooms very spacious and clean. Staff always very friendly. Would highly recommend, and would definitely return.

Barcelo Huatulco: OK RESORT

The resort was ok .. It didn't really meet our expectations . My wife and I have used the Barcelo hotels for the past 5 years and we both agree that this hotel didn't stand up to the Barcelo standards . It was disappointing to stand in line every morning at 8 am with half the guests to book an a la cart only to find out at 9 am when the desk opened that there were no more spots available for that evening. This is the way we have done it at the other hotels. The other issue we had was trying to find a chair at the pool or beach in the morning .. People were going down at 5 or 6 in the morning and putting towels on 4 to 6 chairs then not showing up till noon to claim them ? Sometimes not till the afternoon when they returned from there day excursions . Apparently from talking to other guests the management was aware of these two important issues and were reluctant to do anything about it . I guess the rooms were full so they were happy !!! With the exception of the wonderful staff we were overall disappointed . We would defiantly return to the area but would choose a different hotel for sure

Barcelo Ixtapa: Fantastic Resort. Best entertainment I've seen in Mexico

Very good good. Standard accomodation. Very good service. Nice friendly staff. Nice beach, big waves for two weeks but fun. The hardest working band I have ever seen. 7 piece. They play in the show at night and then do a solid 1.5 hours in the bar. Fantastic Latino music, spot on and very tight. Think salsa music at its best. I would go back just for the music.

Barcelo Huatulco: A charmed visit in a stunning setting

A great choice for those who like a more moderate sized and intimate resort as opposed to the 1000 room plus mega properties. Standard room was very comfortable and view was great. The buffets and a la carts very well done. Service was very efficient, friendly and personal overall. The beach service really had to work hard... to our great appreciation. Catamaran sailboats are well looked after and I got in lots of sail time. Saw a turtle while sailing and watched the pelicans diving for fish a [... read more]ll day. Full moon, total lunar eclipse and even a 6 am minor wake up earthquake that gave us all lots to talk about the next day. Competition for palapa shade and chairs was a bit over the top week 2 when it got busier. This should be fixed along with busier weeks a la cart booking system as mentioned in other reviews. One thing I'd like to mention is the acoustics of the property was very well done! Water fountains, water walls, foliage and thick concrete stucco finish on the building walls, along with the birds, really helped break up the harsh echo you so often get from all the flat surfaces at even the most expensive resorts. This really helped the atmosphere.

We were quite disappointed to be honest... -We had to change rooms the day after check in (they had nothing available at check-in). The rooms are dated and somewhat clean. -We should have been made aware that there was NO WIFI, ALL GUESTS HAD TO PURCHASE WIFI, which made for many very upset guests… its 2019, how can it be that there is no WIFI as part of the hotel booking?!!!! It cost us $90.00 US = $120.00 CAD over and above the cost of our vacation package … customers should all be [... read more] made aware and reimbursed this cost and the travel agencies should have that cost covered as part of the package … this was not fair and should be changed/revised moving forward. -The adults only (where we stayed and paid extra for) had no adult offerings, the casino, disco, lounges, coffee houses, shops, various restaurants and cigar lounge and bar, were all at the family property … how does that make sense?! In our humble opinion, the properties should be reversed, adults only should be moved to where the family property is, it would read so much better ad provide the adults with all adult offerings (including the swim up bar). The adults only property, provided little to no options day or night. The 1 bar was substandard, uninviting and had ongoing walk through traffic for guests to get to the theater, to the front desk, to the 1 restaurant, to the shop, rooms, etc. The theater had constant walk through traffic between the seating and the stage ~ how does that make for a unobstructed view of the shows? The bar/theater/front desk lounge area, was constantly smoke filled as the peaked roof and ceiling fans, pushed the copious amount of cigarette smoke right back to ground level. -So much vacation time was spent in customer service, booking dinner reservations, the website made no mention of having to do this. There was, at any given time, 1-2 customer service people to hundreds of guests (lineups), not a good ratio...and takes up so much of the guests time. PLEASE advise your future customers of this. -Extra charges were expected for over half the restaurants and all in US (as expected), how can there be costs for restaurants when, this was a all inclusive resort and sold to us as a all inclusive vacation package? -The positives are : the beach was simply spectacular, the hotel staff were kind and helpful and the weather was nothing like we are experiencing here in Ottawa. We ask that YOU PLEASE be clear with your clients on the facts of this property … IT IS "NOT" A 5 STAR property and should not be sold as one. We met many lovely guests from all over the world and they all echo our sentiments and will also be proactive, in contacting their travel agent to ensure that this not be sold as a 5 star, free WIFI, full amenity property … it most definitely is not! We will not recommend this property and we will not be returning. Hope this does not fall on deaf ears and that Tripcentral, take all reviews seriously and take steps to updating this properties description.
