Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Fantastic Trip

Thank-you to Yanis, Loyda, Lester & Carlos for making this trip a memorable one. Beautiful beaches, lots of food and drinks. Clean. Loved the variety of food and the a-la-carte dinning was great! Great service. Exactly what we were looking for.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice Resort /However

The resort was lovely,grounds,lots of greenery,the pools were amazing. However the staff were not as friendly as I thought they should be.I realize they are going into there slow season and was told alot of the staff are gone ,but a few smiles would go along way. We had a day where we didn't have any water at all,so there was no flushing of toilets and all the public washrooms were gross.They did however provide extra drinking water for the day. The food was th [... read more]e worst.I have been to 3 other resorts in Cuba in the past year and this place had to be the worst, stale bread,not much selection of anything.The alacart were always out of alot of there main items. I will not be returning!! Time to try a different island.

Grand Memories Varadero: Very dated resort

This resort is very big if you like the beach more go for the superior rooms they are closer to the beach. The rooms are very dated nothing special the pictures on the web site look better than they are but the cleaning staff do a great job cleaning. The grounds at this resort are very nice but the smell of sewer is bad at different spots for they take sewer lids off during the day and the smell is terrible. The food is good and the bathrooms though out the resort are kept clean. Beach is beautiful but the pools need a good cleaning i was at both pools and both have the walls full of algae. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would rate this resort as a 3 star no more.

Sol Turquesa Beach: A Relaxing Vacation

The beach had a bit of seaweed and some hard rocks but we made due. Great service, friendly staff. Power flickered a few times, had a few bugs in our room but it was fine. The food wasn't amazing but it was okay, lots of fresh fruit and great service in the dining hall.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Fantastic Experience!!!

So many different areas within the resort to explore! The pools (4) were a perfect temperature and very clear. The hotel rooms were also very impressive... Newly renovated and very clean! The beach had an amazing view with fun entertainment everywhere you turned!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Great for families

We visited Memories Splash in April 2018. The resort was clean as well as the rooms and the staff were friendly. Resort is large. There is a trolley to take you to different stops as well as the sister resort which has beach access. Lots of stuff to keep you busy. Water slides/park was our favourite part. Con would be check in and out are extremely slow. Not enough staff to run the front desk.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great place!

Food was great with lots of options everyday. Room was very clean with a comfy king bed. There was a leak in the wall but only because we experienced some heavy thunder showers at night. Beautiful beach and great people working there!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Ok resort

Overall the resort was ok. Pretty run down and staff did not seem overly friendly which was surprising because of all the great reviews. Room was fine, did not get separate beds as requested but it was clean and cleaning staff was good. Food not the best at the buffet but a la cartes were great. Beach was beautiful! Had a great time but found the resort quite pricey for what you get.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: All in all great stay!

In few words: great value for the money. The resort itself is on a smaller side, everything is close, not a lot of walking required. We stayed in building #1, which is right between the entrance to the beach and the pool on the other side. Room was clean, good customer service upon request. Food was ok, never went hungry. Snack bar "Bites" was not too good in my opinion (food and service), so we opted for buffet. Entertainment was good, both during day and night. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort!

This was one of the nicest resorts I have been to. It was clean, the people were welcoming and friendly, the food was good and the beach was breathtaking! The lake and channels were also beautiful to walk around. It was pretty quiet since everything except the snack bar shut down at 11pm. There was no disco on the resort, but there was a bus to take you to one at 11pm and bring you back.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Felt unwanted

On arrival to the hotel we encountered a nice staff at the front desk who signed us in. Unfortunately, he was only one of a handful of nice staff as the rest of the people we encountered were rude and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. In addition to the mostly rude staff, the grounds of the resort were often littered with plastic refuse including cups and straws. Even the ocean floor at the beach had straws and cups in it that I saw while snorkeling. The best part of this vacation was seeing the wildlife, including the little toads, tree frogs, lizards, and wide variety of water birds. I loved the beach and the water was calm and warm and lovely to swim and snorkel in. Heck, even the food was decent and I was always able to find something tasty to eat. However, because of the unclean surrounds and rude staff I will not recommend this hotel or return to it for any reason. What a sore disappointment.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Another week in paradise

Visited this resort from April 20-2 2018. It was amazing to see how well this resort has recovered and improved since the hurricane last year. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure everyone has an enjoyable vacation. The selection of food and drinks is great, I am very picky and had no problem finding something yummy everyday. i would absolutely recommend this hotel for families, couples or friends.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Garbage Hotel

We arrived around 1030pm to no staff that was able to answer questions or help us in any way. We finally found our room. We could not get a golf cart ride as we were too close but it was dark and we couldn't navigate. We finally went to the 24 hr snack bar that was dirty and unhygienic beyond anything I have ever seen. We were there for a solid 20 minutes before we saw any staff. That food seemed to be the food we were served 45 minutes later. Garbage all over the pool, the resort. I picked up garbage daily. Golf cart drivers: all except one were rude and obnoxious and never wanted to give us a ride. Our phone and balcony door never worked so I had to go to the lobby and wait in line for the littlest of things. I finally cracked and complained about a staff member who refused to help me. They offered me late check out and to sign a waiver that I was compensated. I have never experienced anything like this hotel. No water all over he resort the day my son finally reacted to the poor food hygiene. Other vacationers advocated for us to have a room with water. Sure enough there was water in block of buildings that houses the suites. I can go on but it upsets me. I don't think tripadvisor should sell this hotel personally.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nightmare resort

If there were a lower rating, I would choose that. Our first room was dirty, second room was across from the disco and listened to people yelling until 5am. We then moved closer to the beach which was a nice location, but the pool is flithy, you cant see hair and straws and cups floating because nobody cleans anything. I hope you like mould! And dont expect those hand carts to give you a ride, youre walking. The icing on the cake for me was the Hospitality room at the end of the stay. Because we had to check out at 12pm and our bus didnt come til 5, they provided us a room at 4pm to take a shower and freshen up. We walked in and it was filthy and had someones dirty towels laying all over the floor. Nice! We just returned home this morning and I am in bed hoping to get to a clinic for diarrhea and dehydration and I am a handwasher and am very selective of what I eat and drink. So thats my review. I will try to post pics but if I cant, message me and I will send them I totally forgot the worst part! Theres a known infestation of bed bugs in building 24, where they were supposed to move us. Luckily fellow Canadians gave us the heads up Lastly, there is almost always no toilet paper and the doors do not close property and there is always a stench of sewage as you walk the grounds.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Truely Disappointed!

I would like to start by telling you this is our 15th time in Cuba and probably our last because of this resort! We were really shocked but more so very disappointed on how poorly this resort deals with issues. As soon as we arrived we had an issue with the room, we asked Colleen for a higher floor due to my environmental allergies but unfortunately the request was never sent. Maria at the reception desk did not try to accommodate the error but instead insisted she could not change the ro [... read more]om until Monday. She was very rude and never once looked at her computer to see what was available all she kept on saying was that the resort was over booked. I asked to speak to a manager but apparently no one was available, which I find hard to believe because people arrive 24 hours a day. She told us we could take up our grievance with Luz who is the director in the morning. So we had no chose but to sleep in the room on lower floor that was damp and had a musky odour. The following morning we went to speak to Luz but she had gone to Havana! But when we went to the reception desk again the new person there said that they were moving us to a higher floor even though Maria was a adamant there wasn’t an other room available until Monday. The next day we had lunch at the a la carte restaurant at the Sanctuary. We ordered chicken and grilled fish, but an 1 1/2 hours later our meals hadn’t arrived so I asked to speak to the manager. Gonzales came over and I asked why it was taking so long and he said it was really busy but he will personally take care of your orders. 15 minuets later still no food but people who had arrived 20 minutes prior were receiving their orders! I asked to speak to him again and when he came over he said he could do anything about the delay so we got up and left and went straight to Luz’s office (who we have meet by this time and had told us to come and see her if we needed anything). Luz had also instructed Maria to apologize to us about the room mixup and that they were going to change our room the next day. We explained to her what just occurred and the three of us walked over to speak to manager. She spoke to the manager who she also told to apologize which he never did, if anything during the vacation he never spoke to us or even say good morning good morning all he would do is avoid us. At that point the Italian chef as well as the food and beverage manager Yonnis came out to apologize and asked if we wanted lobster for the delay with the orders. I still wanted my fish but my wife wanted the lobster. The meals finally came out a 1/2 hour later my fish fine but my wife’s lobster was raw in the middle so she never ate. Yonnis apologized again but at that point my wife was so upset with the situation we just left. The next day we planned to go Havana. So we went to the a la carte early and ordered our food by 7:05. There were 2 other couples there before us but again we still did not receive our food until 30 minutes later. Seriously 30 minutes for 2 omelettes, that the server (Roxanna) got wrong but that’s because she was too busy socializing and taking yogourt and hiding it in the cupboard! So we asked to speak the manager and chef came out as well, but again nothing was done. My wife had a terrible experience with the washroom that was located just before the path to the beach it shared the same building as the towel exchange. She went to use the washroom at 9:15 but the doors were locked. She spoke to one of the butlers at the building nearby but he said they had to look for the chambermaid who had the key. 10 minutes later no one showed up so my wife spoke to another butler (Gretchal) who told her it was not her job. At this point my wife was so annoyed she asked why the washrooms weren’t open in the first place? These washrooms are meant for people on the beach who are wet and sandy in our case on the beach by 8am but all she did was argue with my wife instead of trying to find the key to open the doors. She finally came back with key and when wife went to use washroom there wasn’t an toilet paper or paper towel in the woman’s or the man’s washroom. My wife went back out to find Gretchal (of course socializing) and asked why there wasn’t toilet paper in any of the stalls or paper towel but her response was that she didn’t know and it wasn’t her job. So my wife lost it on her told she needs to do her her job and that this was going to be another conversation with Luz but she said didn’t care! On the positive side of things... The food was very good we were pleasantly surprised! We were in building 31, we had 2 butters Jorge who was fantastic! But Danyelle was terrible and just didn’t care! Jorge went out of his way to try to resolve any issues and to make sure our stay there was pleasant and uneventful. Our chambermaid Jenny was the best! The room so clean and always made sure we had everything we needed. All staff at the grill were fantastic! Always smiling and polite and making sure you had everything you needed. The greeter at a la carte (I can’t remember her name) was amazing she alway greeted you with a hand shake and a smile and came around the tables to make sure you had everything you needed. Now thats probably because of what occurred a few days ago. I believe Luz read everyone the rights which made the service so much better. Over all 80% of the staff were very nice but unfortunately the 20% of the ones that weren’t leave the bad impression. And even though Luz has the making of a good manager she still has a long road ahead of her to have this resort operate and present itself as 4.5 star resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great time :)

Had a really nice time. Beach is amazing . Staff was great. Food was pretty good, always found something to eat. Could be a little better selection and some of the prep food lines where a little long. Maintence could use improvements. All in all for Cuba a great place

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awful

Public washrooms awful! No toilet paper, no running water just grosss!!Pool was not cleaned all week!! Not enough staff for such a large place! Not enough food ! We upgraded to diamond club and payed more and did not have beer most of the time in our room, not a superior room, no ac in the dining, no running hot water/ hardy any water !! We made due as we are adults but very upset sunwing would even have this resort on there list!! It needs some tlc big time!

Grand Memories Varadero: My review of Grand Memories Varadero

Front desk: Quality service, fast check in. Technical bifficulties with our room. Change room the next day and I was given a free Diamond Club upgrade. Room: Well kept by house keeping. We had to climb in and out of the bathtub, too high. Grounds: Well kept, too far to walk for all enmities. I have knees and back injuries and I am a senior citizen. (I suggest making gulf carts available on the main walkway from the beach to pass the theatre to the pool). Restaurants: Excellent service at the  [... read more]main buffet from Karl, Indira, Frank and Jesus. Bars: Very professional, main lobby always crowded. Pool: Clean and well staffed with lifeguard and entainers. Pool swim up bar: Good compliment of bartenders, lots people sat at the bar for hours, where bid they pee?

Grand Memories Varadero: Great vacation

Our stay at the grand memories was great. Good food, entertainment and people! The trip into veradero was great and would recommend an old classic car taxi to get there and back. Or the double decker bus for only five dollars all day. Would definitely come back at some point!

Resonance Blu Varadero: this resort was more of a 3 star than a 4 star

Our check in was fast and the staff very nice and friendly. With that being said there were a few problems. I was given a superior room with a few of one of the swimming pools. I had specifically said with 2 double beds and was given a king bed. This made me uncomfortable because I did not want to sleep with this friend of mine. Had a problem with the [... read more] safe. on Sat the 14th. We were able to get into the safe that morning but when we returned we couldn't. It was fixed on the 17th. The room was very nice all in all. Cafeteria food was definitely substandard. For breakfast they had a good array of choices but when lunch came along it was the same sausage wieners and dried potatoes that was served for breakfast. The same green beans and sliced tomatoes also. The cold cuts were mainly sliced ham and chunky pieces. Dinner they had fish and pork chops as well as your pasta station. Fresh fruit was non existent. Water melon and guava. It was definitely better to eat at the outdoor restos. Lobby bathroom for women (no toilet seats) go figure. Lobby was nice and staff very nice. Pools I have been to Cuba 6 times and this was the first time that I refused to use them. I went into the pool on the 14th and the bottom of the pool was soooo slimy and I mean slimy enough that it was hard not to slip. During the seven days that I was there the POOLs were never chlorinated nor were the decks around washed down. There were drink spills you name it. they were FILTHY all of them.. I went to the ocean because it was clean. Garbage pick up on beach slack but cleaner than pool area. This resort should be cleaned up because it is a nice place to go to This review is an honest review from an honest person.
