The hotel it is around two years old. The hotel and grounds are very clean staff are very friendly . When a person gets a room or before they book it make sure there is a stand up shower , because some may have hand held ones DO NOT work . Food is quite good knowing where you are. Because when I fell they said oh sorry ( I was a little worry about my hip for a while ) all I got was sorry .
We booked with a person named Karol in the Burlington office on Fairview I never in all my years in travelling come across a person in this business who can make so many mistakes on booking a trip . On the first email we got ELEVEN wrong things, he spelled our names and email address he still sent it out wrong. He got one persons email right .You would ask him a question about the hotel he would tell you something total different .THERE ARE NO ELEVATORS in this hotel we where told by Karol yes there was . I spoke to another person they said NO there was not

Playa Vista Azul: Lovely resort
This is a lovely resort with a beautiful layout, clean and modern rooms, and friendly staff.
The bigger beach is a bit of a walk and it would have been nice to have a snack bar there.
There are a few small issues that need taking care of and this would make it much better.
For example the coffee at the buffet in the morning was terrible, cold and undrinkable.
Some more entertainment in the lobby area would have been nice as it was quite quiet.
A sign, with info about the evening shows was n[... read more]owhere to be seen, so we didn't know what kind of entertainment was planned for that evening.
The food was alright but I have eaten much better recently at the Pullman in Cayo Coco.
This property is located on a cliff so the scenery is beautiful.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful, clean and exeletnt
Hotel looks exactly as it is on the pictures. Beautiful and big rooms, excellent pools, beautiful beach and very friendly staff. What else do you need on vacations? Food is ok, no bad for Cuba. I believe that everyone can find something to eat. We do not have such choices of different meal at home and we survive so if we go for vacation I do not care too much about it. Restaurants are clean and the staff is friendly. The only thing that I believe the should improve is that they should have more [... read more]waitress and waitresses in the buffet. Lots of guests but there is not enough stuff to clean and make everything fast. The best shows I have ever seen in the Caribbean country. The hotel is very close to Varadero, so you can spend evenings walking on the streets in real Cuba. Taxi costs 15 CUC, but bargain. We were going there as a group of 6(two 3-person families) and they once charged us 20. But there we bargain and had prices 10-13 CUC. Lots of small restaurants are open right now so you can try something outside the hotel. We took Havana tour but not from hotel. We rented Taxi Nacho Cuba and it was cheaper for our group. He was not from the hotel but I know you can find him on the TripAdvisor. He suggested what we should see and include our wishes as well. They took us to buy coffee and rum and the first time I bought something cheaper than it was in the store. I took some stuff to leave for the staff in the hotel and I am really glad I did. Lots of happened since I was in Varadero 10 years ago. You can see lots of new stores and so on but the prices there were not even for me. I will definitely come back there.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful Resort
We loved the beauty and cleanliness of the sprawling grounds, the majestic views, the pools, beaches, the friendly staff, the buffet dining room's food and the outstanding shows--the best we've ever seen! The à la carte restaurants, however, were disappointing (we didn't always get what was described on the menu i.e.: lettuce instead of spinach in the "canelloni", breaded chicken instead of roasted with garlic, mushrooms and olive oil, as was the morning coffee in the dining room...lukewarm, wa[... read more]tered-down and undrinkable. Thank goodness for Mike's coffee shop and the coffees served at the bar which were very good. Our room was fine but had a bad odor, at times, when the air conditionner was off. The pillows were not very comfortable and the shower either froze or scalded us. When calling the front desk for noise coming from the fan and to help with the shower, we got service immediately. Disappointedly we were not permitted to dine at restaurant Neptuno as we were not of the "privileged" group, and we had to pay for Wifi which didn't function or was down. All in all, a very trendy and enjoyable resort.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Would not go back
5-star rating should not be taken literally in this case (not an isolated problem in Cuba or some other countries). Front desk staff were useless and disinterested in solving any problems. These are supposed to be your 'go to' staff and they could not be bothered. Occasionally very good service, but overall adequate to poor (e.g., one day one of the beds was made with no sheets or pillow cases ... who does that?!? ... no toilet paper and 2 towels left for a family of 4). Beds are TINY(2 adults[... read more] in a double is not 5 star). Food in Cuba is problematic and has not improved. Even access to snacks for kids is lacking, so to have to BYO snacks to a 5 star all inclusive is ridiculous. Grounds need some TLC in many areas. 'Nature walk' was being used as an outdoor bathroom by staff it seems. Natural beach and pool areas are only redeeming assets this resort has. Never again.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: not recommended
Casa del mar is not suitable and I would encourage not recommend it.
The lights in the room didn’t work, not because the bulbs were burned out, but because there were no bulbs.
The food was poor; the wait staff seemed to feel we were a nuisance.
The whole place is under repair and construction. There are active pits in the ground with “do not cross†tape around them. Imagine sitting for a quiet dinner beside a construction pit.
The whole area between the room buildings and the beach[... read more] is like a parking lot – a big wide open sand area with a few dead trees. I think this area will be phase B eventually with more rooms when they are built.
The vegetation throughout the complex is dead or absent.
Worst is the huge noise. The Latin music from the one speaker on the beach was so loud I could not hear to talk on the phone in my room with the balcony door shut.
I think there is a fundamental management problem here.
We got a cab and toured other resorts and chose another resort after a day and a night.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Construction Zone!
Having been to Cuba several times before, I was really looking forward to this resort - supposedly new and with "better food". However, it was a disappointment right off the hop. Everywhere I looked it seemed something was broken - I went to the pool and the lounge chair had a big hole in it and right next to it was a pile of cement rubble. We ate at a table that overlooked a giant construction hole with pilons and rocks strewn about. The most striking thing for me was the fact that there was n[... read more]o landscaping or gardening it seemed. The beach music was so loud we could hear it in our room and could not block it out even with the door closed. Between our room and the beach was a large wide stretch of deserted land with no plants or anything but hot dry earth. Luckily we were able to move to another hotel (at a cost to us) and ended up at a much better location.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Short Review
Nice resort, large comfortable rooms, good food, friendly people. Traveled in March break – resort was full but there was always enough chairs and room in buffet. Stayed in building 18. All building s are the same.
FOOD: Buffet food is very good for Cuban resort. Freshly made pasta, sea food and pizza stations are excellent. Beef and pork station meat is hard (avoid). A la carte restaurants are good with exception of sea food restaurant (food was bad there). Buffet is the best choice. 24 hrs [... read more]pool bar serves decent food as well (ham sandwiches are best) but choice changes depending on time of the day.
ROOMS: Large and comfortable with all necessities provided.
LOBBY: Large, comfortable sofas, excellent coffee bar.
INTERNET: Not reliable but inexpensive (1.5 CUC per hr). Rarely works.
PHONE SERVICE: Canadian networks (KOODO and BELL) worked very well. Buy prepaid package if you can, otherwise it is expensive (KOODO $ 2.5 per minute and $0.65 per text. Data charge is ridiculous. Bell was even more).
SWIMMING POOL: There are two same size pools. Pool between building 1 and 9 has all the activities. Other pool between building 10 and 18 is quite.
BEACH: There is high and low tide. At high tide there is no beach but typically it lasts only ½ day. You may need to go to beach in the morning or afternoon depending on tides. Beach on side closer to the market (right side of resort) has no rocks. There are always free chairs everywhere but afternoon less busy.
MONEY EXCHANGE: Rate in hotel is almost the same as in the bank (70 CUC for 100 CAD at the resort or 71 CUC for 100 CAD at the bank located in small shopping complex next to the resort). Tips can be given in any currency (CUC, CAD, USD, EURO).
GIFTS: If you have used clothes, shoes take it and give to staff – remember landscape workers. Unwanted old cell phones are also well received (if they are unlocked).
DUTY FREE: Limited to cigars and Rum.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Resort!!
We had a wonderful vacation here. The Resort was very clean and up to date. The beach was amazing. The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful blue/turquoise color of the water. The water and the sand were very clean. There were lots of chairs at the pool and the beach. We had no trouble finding a spot to sit even when we went out at 12:00 noon. Trying the food from the grill at the beach is a must. It was amazing. At the buffet, the food was very good. There was lots of choic[... read more]e. The workers at the resort aimed to please. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Excellent family vacation
The resort is very large and well taken care of. The rooms are excellent and new and clean . There are many food choices. The beach needs some grooming but the ocean is fabulous. Comfortable chairs and lots of towels are available. They could use a bit more staff at the bars but we had no complaints and had a lovely family holiday and we would recommend this as an all inclusive hotel in Mexico 🇲🇽

Ocean Maya Royale: Mixed feelings
Okay, this is going to be fairly long review but I have a lot to cover so bear with me. I traveled with my sister and we arrived on March 6th. We had requested a room with double beds, near the beach and NOT on the first floor as we don't feel safe on the first. So what do we find out at our check in...double beds, yes but on the first floor and the furthest building back from the beach you could get. I have traveled a lot, especially the Mayan Riviera and Dominican Republic. This was our first [... read more]time at an H10 hotel.
They showed us three other rooms, closer to the beach and we decided on the room in building 33 on the second floor. Back at the front desk we are told it would cost us an extra $90 per night for any of those rooms as they were considered "premium". We were not impressed. They finally brought it down to $45 per night. We really had no choice as our original room was totally unsuitable.
We were told the room would be freshened up while we had lunch. My sister is a bit of a germophobe but even I had to agree that there was no way our room had been "freshened". Stains on the floor, dust on the dresser and the sheets and pillows were damp. However, after our call to the lobby, housekeeping was there within 10-15 minutes. They recleaned and put fresh linens on the bed. Anna, our maid, was an absolute sweetheart all week.
Because we do a lot of traveling, my sister and I decided to listen to their pitch for their "Premium" service, etc...On our arrival, Caleb, the one who set up our breakfast meeting with a representative kept insisting it wasn't a timeshare. Guess what, it's a timeshare with slight variations. Isaac, our rep., was very, very nice. He would tell us the costs in Canadian dollars and my sister and I made the wrong assumption when we were getting down to the final details with the manager, Bobby.
We were very interested but still had a few doubts. Of course the pressure is on because this price is only offered now and is off the table once you leave. If you're ever in a similar situation, please be aware that, legally, you have up to five days, I believe, to cancel with no penalties. BUT, be aware of the difference in exchange rates. We had decided to go for it, it was going to require a deposit of $3,675 which I was going to put on my credit card. When we went in the office to sign the agreement the amounts were stated in US dollars. We had been talking Canadian and assumed the final price negotiated was in Canadian dollars. That changed everything and we said no, we wouldn't take it. They had already processed the payment to my credit card BEFORE I signed the agreement.
The amount was recredited to my visa but when I checked my account on line I was shocked to discover that because the banks have a different rate for buying and selling US dollars, I lost over $250 due to the exchange rates!!! When I spoke to the Premium office about this they said they recredited the same amount they had debited, which they had. The difference in the rates was not their problem. I was leaving today when I noticed this and its on the plane that I remembered them processing the payment BEFORE I signed the contract. Not sure that is legal but I will be looking into it further.
The hotel is quite a long distance to the main road and I wanted to take the Collectivo to Playa del Carmen. The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle to the main gate, you either walk or they call a taxi for you. It costs 50 pesos or approx. $3.50 for a 5 minute ride. The collectivo was 20 pesos or approx. $1.50 for a 15-20 minute drive. You shouldn't have to take a taxi. It's ridiculous.
Food: wasn't bad. Was always able to find something I liked at the buffet. Their selection of salads are pretty limited. The Smoothie station in the main buffet and at the bar by the Mexican grill was very, very good. Brazilian night was my favorite. Someone complained in another review about not being able to order from a menu. Of course you can't at the buffet but if you went to the à la carte restaurants, they had menus. We ate at the Blue Moon one night and it was fabulous. My sister had the clam chowder and salmon for her main course. She raved about both. I had the ginger, carrot soup and warm beef/beet salad and the beef tenderloin with wild rice, also very good.
Grounds are well kept. They have deer that come out at dusk and these funny creatures that look like raccoons but with long noses, along with your ignuanas.
There are two pools, right next to each other. One is for the "rowdy" crowd, the otI her end for those who like things a more sedate. The beach was not the greatest. Very wavy and the water was dirty, full of seeweed. They tried very hard to keep up with the seaweed. The pool bars do close early, 5:30 p. m. but the bar in the lobby is opened 24 hours.
All in all we did enjoy our stay despite the setbacks, annoyances, etc. The weather was great.
The staff are all friendly and very nice. Shout out to Manuel and Selena at the main buffet who were awesome.
Would I go again? Yes, I would consider it depending on the price. We paid, including the upgrade cost, almost $2,000 cdn for the week, which was not worth it. $1,500 to $1,700 is the most I would pay, and that would be for a premium room by the beach. Otherwise, there are many other resorts I'd rather return to visit.
Hope this helps!

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Great week
Everything was great pools food and especially the staff they all worked so hard to make our vacation a good on. The only compliant our good had was the beach wasn't very nice it was a disappointment but everything else was just wonderful .
Myself and 3 other ladies just returned from a 5 night stay at this very new resort. I'm happy to report, it was everything we expected and even more! The food and service was exceptional for an all inclusive resort, the rooms were beautiful and clean and the vino very cold!! We spent a lot of time at the beach where there is also a pool which is awesome. The music at the El Beso and Eden pools is fun and upbeat as well.
My only non positive comments would be, there are no bars open at n[... read more]ight outdoors. Only the lobby bar and sports bar are open after 6pm and both are enclosed spaces. I would recommend they utilize the big space outside of the lobby for some sort of open air lounge with music of course.
Also, not enough garbage cans around the resort ( don't give people an excuse to litter )!!
We would recommend this resort without question and I hope to go back with my hubby someday!!
