The grounds were well maintained and the rooms were fantastic - very large. Our family of 4 had plenty of room. Food could have been better - lack of variety and the food was very bland. The best a-la carte was the Japanese Steakhouse. The entertainment was horrible - we always look forward to an evening drink and catch the show at other resorts, but we did not spend more than 5 minutes before we determined it was time to leave. Other than the main show there is not much else to do. The Gym was [... read more]nice, but it was in the furthest end of the resort. My kids did love the pool and the ice cream bar. Overall I would give the resort a 7 out of 10. If you can get a great deal on this resort - you wont be disappointed.

Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos: Amazing Birthday!
I give the Staff a 5 Star! They were just incredible...they made my Birthday celebration perfect! I would most definitely recommend this resort for couples.
The only negative is that if you love to swim in the ocean this Resort is NOT for you as no swimming is permitted.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Excellent choice
We stayed at EPM the first week of this April 2013 and had a great time. We requested a quiet room in the non-EC section and were placed in building 5 which suited us perfectly. We also contacted the hotel to ask them to reduce the use of scented products/cleaners in our room as my wife has multiple chemical sensitivities. They were responsive and while not perfect, we did receive a call from the Manager of Concierge during the first few days asking how they were doing, and if there was any more[... read more] that could be done. As has been noted by others, the lobby is heavily scented and this made entering or passing through it very difficult for my wife. Consequently we did not make as much use of the restaurants and shops within it.
For the first time, we decided to go with a swim-up room, and this was the best decision we made. EPM has a very comfortable patio, and add to this your own stretch of grass up to the pool edge and you have heaven. It can be difficult to get back out of the lazy river once in, as there are only steps in the area near the Revive Juice Bar (mmmm!). The location of building 5 in early April gave us shade in the morning and then sun from about 11:30 on. So, after breakfast it was an unobstructed beach walk north, then time to sit in the sun near one of the other pools, and back to our swim-up for after lunch with a cooling off float around the lazy river from time to time.
We had an amazing time at EPM and would recommend it to anyone. Great hotel, great service, great food and great location

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Over Rated for Sure
This hotel was very pretty but way way way to BIG!! There were a pile of kids and it wasnt March break anywhere in the world. There were piles of teenagers smoking by the side of the pool, some were in the pool smoking, some were just sitting beside the pool, when they were done their cigarettes, they just butted them right on the pool deck and left them, so when the wind blew (which it did) the butts went flying into the pool. The golf cart to take you everywhere had great timing, however, I am[... read more] not crazy about a resort that Im forced to use the golf carts. I would prefer the walk but that walk was way to far. They told us we had "pool view"- ummmm - if i could see around the trees I might have been ok to have the "pool view". The food is ok at best, it is definetly always the same, no theme nights at the buffet. Wasnt crazy about the Al la Carte's - ok, but poor service. For anything you wanted you needed to go to the front desk and wait in line never a line shorter then 10 people in it and only 2 people working the counter. Be careful of the "time share" people, they say it isnt time share, but tomato/tomatoe? They say you can eat at the "Sports Bar" 24 hours? The only thing we found to eat at the sports bar was croissant and jam at anytime of the day/night. Any hotel i have gone to the "sports bar" offers burgers/nachos/french fries/pizza- didnt find any of that there. The rooms were clean-no bugs.I would like to say for the money it was good - But NO!! For a few dollars more we could have gone to the resort down the street that I know very well but thought i would give a try to something new. If you want to hear kids crying/screaming/kicking/fighting with parents at all hours of the day, in the pool, in the restaurants then thats the resort for you. Dont pay the extra for the "swim up", that too is a joke for a "swim up". I would NEVER go back there!!

Grand Palladium Kantenah: 3rd visit to Grand Palladium
This was my 5th time to the Riveria Maya and my third time staying at the Grand Paladium. I would go back in a heart beat! The newly constructed water park for the kids was an excellent addition to this already beautiful resort. I love nature and did not want to be surrounded by cement and skyscrapers buildings so I really appreciated the iguanas, flamingos, lush vegetation and well maintained walkways and boardwalks. This resort had everything and more. A wide variety of yummy restaurants and b[... read more]uffets to choose from depending on your mood. The only thing I would change would be the pillows! Also, if you have mobility issues the layout of this resort is not ideal.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort
To start off, the best thing about this place was the service. The way people catered to us was outstanding (thanks to all but in particular to Amado)! My wife's glutan allergy was not a problem here as staff went out of their way to accommodate. The rooms were also very nice. We were on our honeymoon so our room was always prepared in a fancy way. The food was awesome. I thought it would be good but not that good. We love the fact it was unlimited a la carte and no reservations. The best part w[... read more]as complimentary 24 hour room service. The beach while a tad small was also very nice. Great for kids as well! The only thing we really didn't like was the misleading way they tried to get us to join their "rewards" program. We were told we were going for a romantic honeymoon breakfast and would take only 90 minutes at their sister resort. It ended up being the same breakfast buffet as ours and sitting with a salesman for 3 hours trying to get us to join. Regardless of this we will be going back.
The grounds were very well kept. Huge resort, pools were wonderful and they had entertainment every afternoon. The people were very helpful and friendly. It was close to the airport which helps and the food was excellent. My husband and I loved this resort and would definitely go back.

Ocean Maya Royale: Bright, Sunny & HOT !!
a friend & I stayed at Ocean Maya Royale in Oct 2013. The weather was unusually hot -- approx 40C+. The resort is conveniently located for travel to Playa Del Carmen or Cancun.
PROS
- all staff were extremely fast, friendly & efficient. service was excellent -- the staff made the vacation more enjoyable.
- the rooms were nice / air-conditioning was wonderful, especially with the extreme heat.
- grounds well maintained & included signs identifying rooms / all the local wildlife.
- upgraded to 'P[... read more]riviledge' after 2 days -- well worth the extra expense.
CONS
- there is little or no shade around the the small beach & pools.
- * NOT ENOUGH BEACH CHAIRS * for everyone -- yet chairs/beds in 'Priviledge section were vacant.
- ocean not easily accessible.
- the theatre not air-conditioned -- TOO HOT to watch performances
- food was fair, but, is repeated every few days.

Tesoro Ixtapa: Superb Service
What stands out most is the beach - a beautiful long stretch of fine golden sand - and the efficient drink service from the staff on the beach. Although the waves were big, as strong swimmers we enjoyed the exercise. The buffet, while not as expansive as a 5-star resort, nevertheless provided a nice variety of flavourful food including some authentic Mexican cuisine, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Furthermore, the Tesoro is conveniently located close to restaurants/shopping and a short, inexpensiv[... read more]e public bus ride to Zihuatanejo. It's our favourite vacation spot!

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Amazing beautiful resort!!!
I travelled here with my hubby .... January 18 - 25th. I won it through our local radio station! What a great place to win a trip!!! So much variety to see and do and just relax.
This resort was awesome. Smaller intimate resort, very easy to find your way around.
At Check In...welcome drinks... after a long day...someone took our luggage and showed us to our room. Nice touch.
Loved the couches/sunbeds all around the resort as well as on the beach. Always able to find shade or sun and never ha[... read more]d a problem finding a lounger. No chair hogs here. All the resort areas were new and beautiful.
Only about 3 vendors on our beach, were not a bother at all.
Beautiful very long beach , we walked it every morning. Walk about 20 minutes down one end and you will come upon Zippers Restaurant, and a cold corona waiting for you. Loved it, popular spot.
It is a shame though that this beautiful beach is basically unswimmable due to undertows... if you keep walking the beach there is areas where people do enter the water with caution...which we did.
Pools were awesome, heated... which was very nice, and all pools had swim up bars
Loved the pool on the upper level, where you could be having a drink and watching whales, this is also the quieter pool, when you are wanting that.
The 2 other main pools on lower level had fun entertainment going on during some times of the day.
Buffet was excellent..loved all the food, no sickness what so ever!
Snack bar near main pools had really yummy burgers nachos mozza sticks hotdogs pizza tacos wings...yummy!!!
Main center bar/entertainment area had a fire pit and heat lamps all around, with comfy round couches, very nice to sit by at night while watching the variety of entertainment.
One night they had a rock band, it was great, a real party.
Room was super nice, plush new beds, tons of plush pillows and duvet... never had that luxury at any other resort.
And towels replenished constantly and again plush and soft. Free safe in room and plenty of space and closets/drawers. Free wi-fi ... and I had no problem accessing it during my stay.
Room cleaned regularly every day, fridge stocked, our maid was very nice, we had a main floor with patio... steps from the main entertainment/bar and the pools, perfect!
1 a la carte, went for welcome and farewell party with our group..I liked the buffet food better but just my opinion...many enjoyed the food at a la carte.
All drinks were great and loved their beer, dark or light.
Was told over and over again how very safe Los Cabos is...we walked a few nights after dark down the strip past all the resorts and stumbled upon nice cafes/bars/restaurants/shops...enjoyed getting out there exploring..never felt comfortable with just the 2 of us doing that anywhere else we have travelled.
Resort is very close to San Jose del Cabo... bus or cab...very cheap or about half hour walk in ... we went a few times...nice little town...nice souvenir shops...and bars/restaurants galore...we went to Shooters Sports Bar there...loved it...even went in town a second time and went again...sit at the bar ... you will get to know the owners..Canadian family...very nice people...we loved this place...and cheap cheap beer/food....music and tv's all over for sport watching...highly recommend going there ... fun times!
Can cab or bus into Cabos San Lucas...again we went a few times...a must place to visit ... more busy than San Jose...lots to see and do ... have to visit Cabo Wabo Cantina while there and take advantage of all the excursions out of the Marina.
Lover's Beach ... a must do... so beautiful for swimming as well as the famous Arch...pics do it no justice...see it in person.
Take advantage of free admission for Royal Decameron guests to watch dolphins at the Dolphin Discovery right across street from resort.
Best touch of all ... the night we were all in the lobby waiting to leave by bus to airport..late flight....entertainment staff guys came around giving some of us hugs goodbye, joking with each of us, very nice touch, so sincere, stands out with me ... thank you to them...they were the best.... I have never experienced that at any other resort ... made a hard time leaving a little easier!
I agree this is a solid 4 star and I would even give it a 4.5/5 star! Will definitely do a repeat of this vacation again in the future.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Good Value
We stayed at this resort in January 2014. This was ouir first stay at on the Cancun Strip but have been to the Caribbean 10 previous times. Good things about this resort is that there is lots to do for kids (we aer a family of 5) and that the quality of everything is pretty good. Decent entertainment. Accomodates a family of 5 without breaking the bank. Food was OK. Overall, generally meets 4 star expectations. Bad things - If you don't have kids, this is not the resort for you. There are kids e[... read more]verywhere. The buffet can be difficult to find a seat in the mornings when it is most busiest. The pool was very cool during our trip because it is shaded by the resort from about 4PM on each day.
This resort is set back into the Mayan jungle with luscious vegetation and well kept grounds. It is a pleasant walk from the main lobby and breakfast buffet back to the pools and the beach with lots of coati to entertain you along the way. We upgraded to VIP as soon as we checked in and were glad to receive a room closer to the restaurants and the beach. The VIP package also included loungers and sun beds in a sectioned off area on the beach. Our room was not the fanciest we have stayed in but i[... read more]t was clean and the bed was comfortable, really what more could you ask for. The beach was the main reason we booked at this resort. This resort was recommended by our Travel Agent just for this reason and we were not disappointed! The sand is white and powder soft and seemed to go on forever! I loved walking along this beach every morning. Moving on to the second most important thing on your vacation, food and drinks. The food at all of the restaurants we ate at was always very good with top notch service! Everyone working at this resort seemed genuinely happy to be there and it reflected in their service. The drinks of coarse were also always good. Top shelf rum & tequila and the bartenders were never stingy with their pour. Overall we enjoyed this resort very much and would consider a return trip.
