Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing all inclusive
Surroundings and resort itself were all beautiful and very well maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, both at the buffets and the a la cartes, waiting staff was excellent. Room was clean and very nicely decorated. My only complaint was that the mattress was hard and not very comfortable which I have read in other reviews. We spent most of our time at the beach and the adult pool, both were great. Beach chairs were plentiful any time of the day, however to get a sp[... read more]ot at the adult pool you had to get there fairly early. We visited at the end of March which was spring break, we found that there were a lot of teenagers who were sometimes very loud and obnoxious, hence the reason we enjoyed the adult pool so much. We traveled without our kids but I would definitely take my kids to this resort.

Marival Emotions Resort and Suites Riviera Nayarit: Decent resort
The grounds were nice and the staff were hard working. It is pretty hard to give a good review however as there were 500+ Kids staying there. It was for soccer championships. It was very loud and difficult to get food or seating anywhere. Horrible experience. It may be a nice resort but they should not be offering rooms to anyone during something like that. It was supposed to be a relaxing vacation and instead we left the resort most days to get away from the noise.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Party resort
This hotel is definitely five stars in the party category. If you don't mind below to mid average rooms then this is the place for you. This is our second time back to this resort because we had a blast partying last time. This time the experience with the resort wasn't as pleasant. Our room air conditioner & tv had issues. Our bedding smelt really bad. We didn't receive water everyday in room from hotel. On our last day the power was out in the hotel and we had to lug our 50 lbs suitcases down [... read more]six flights of stairs. (No one from the resort offered to help) We knew what we were expecting in terms of loudness and partying but our experience with the resort was defiently below average this round. The resort food is average. Many times there was nothing left. We will defiently not be going back to Oasis Cancun. If your just looking for a good time and accommodation is not to big a factor for you then this is the place for you.

The stay was pleasant enough. We were disappointed that we had such a minimum choice of eating places. We realize we were in the off season but maybe this could be mentioned when booking. Would we come back ; give us the garden room and we are in. Thanks. The staff was great.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Loved our stay at Gran Bahia Principe Maya Complex
We stayed at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal from April 18-25 and absolutely loved it. The resort complex with the separate sections is a perfect lay out. Each of the main lobbies was stunningly beautiful. The long stretch of beaches was great and offered many different experiences. The pools were beautiful, though it would be nice to have some deeper pools as well for the adults and better swimmer to enjoy. The selection of ala carte restaurants was great, though you must book them very early and po[... read more]ssibly even in advance of your stay. The quality and the selection of the food are incredible. The only thing I missed was mango, which must be out of season right now. It’s funny how we do enjoy the Ataulfo mangoes at home in Toronto this time of year, yet I did not see any in Mexico during our stay. The bars, buffet restaurants and snack bars (24 hour) were also very good and we enjoyed excellent service, even when the resort was fully booked during the Easter weekend. Special thanks go out to Juan in the Royal Golden Club section of the Akumal resort for the great welcome and introduction. It was really nice to have him prepare us for a great stay. Just for that, the upgrade was definitely worth the extra $250 or so.
We stayed in room 6226 (building 62, 3rd floor). The room was wonderful and clean. The one minor downside was that our 2 double beds could so easily have been 2 queen size beds with better mattresses, as there is plenty of room for that, but we slept fine nonetheless. We had 2 double beds and one single bed in our suite. Due to the small double bed size, we made a nice comfy little bed on the ground for our 4 year old who likes to move around in her sleep. The resort really should replace the doubles with queen-size to improve on an otherwise perfect all-inclusive resort experience.
One comment I must include based on my wife’s feedback is that the trolleys need to slow down a little when close to pedestrians. I must agree that they do drive too fast.
Our kids are age 8 and 4 and the resort was magical for them. The trolleys, even if they are too fast :) , made life very easy for them to visit the many restaurants after a long and exhausting day at the beach and the pools. They also loved the resort’s entertainment. The beach was perfect for them with the wave breakers that were great for sliding on and snorkeling. The kids’ water splash park at Coba was really nice, but the kids were not bothered to go back after one day in the Coba section (even our 4 year old) which suited us just fine since we preferred the Akumal and Tulum sections of the resort. Even for the kids, the service was great and the foods selection was phenomenal. The room cleaning personnel made wonderful towel animals each day.
We are already planning a group vacation with our friends and neighbours for next year around the same time and can‘t wait to go back. The kids will have an even better time with many of their close friends at the resort. I hope to arrange the perfect stay for a group of 5 or 6 families that all live in our local Toronto Corktown community.
Thank you to all the wonderful personnel at the resort complex. I cannot complement you enough and you made this a wonderful experience for all four of us.

Seadust Cancun Beach Resort: Best resort I ever been!!!!!!
We went to this resort in April, weather was great, resort was great. I wanted to stay closer to the action where all the shops are and markets closer to the top of the strip but Cancun has a great bus system. The place was clean , staff and food was also great. We would go to this location again but for 2 weeks this time.

Moon Palace Cancun: Excellent Resort
Excellent resort, amazing food, and service. It is a big resort, just make sure you get a room near main lobby, especially if you have kids. Also, the beach is not very good. You have to take a free bus ride to go to the hotel zone, which is famous for its white sand beach. Be careful about the time-share people. I would love to go back there again.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Fantastic resort
We thoroughly enjoyed our state at the Rui Palace, Los Cabos. The resort was spotless. Our room was spacious and the room amenities were generous. The staff were all super friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the restaurants on site. Lots of selection and very tasteful.
The only complaint and this would be very minor was the evening entertainment. We went most evenings to whatever entertainment that was being provided but most evening we left early. Secrets Huatulco: Good, But Not As Good As Other Secrets
My wife and I stayed at Secrets Huatulco in late January 2014, but I'm just writing a review now. On the plus side, the food was good, the beach was lovely and the resort was clean. The service was not up to what he enjoyed at the same chain's destinations in Puerto Vallarta and Montego Bay. It may be because the resort and tourist area are still relatively new, but everything was pretty haphazard. There can be a lot of walking in this resort, important for those who have leg issues. Although th[... read more]e food was good, there were lots of mix-ups in the restaurants. It can be a challenge finding an unoccupied pool chair sometimes, as people leave towels draped over them and disappear for hours or forever. A note about the climate in January - it's the dry season in Huatulco, so even though the resort is lush and well-kept, the foliage everywhere else is brown and unappealing. We enjoyed our stay, but wouldn't go back and would pick another Secrets instead.

Moon Palace Cancun: Mar 21-28/14 ... not for people without kids.
Pluses: Close to Airport so first to be dropped off. Plenty of pools within the resort to find a chair first thing in morning and place your towels on them ... otherwise none available. Plenty of restaurants to chose where to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Deli and Cafes were great for snacks, chocolates, ice cream and sandwiches. Staff everywhere within the facilities were fabulous, waiting on you consistently throughout at pools, restaurants and bars. Food was plentiful and delicious! Wi[... read more]th or without tips ... say 'thank you' or 'mucho gracias' and each and everyone of the staff replied with 'my pleasure' and a smile.
Minuses: Arriving at 11 a.m. and waiting until 3:30 p.m. to get in our room. People with children letting them run wild throughout, not looking after them in pools or around pools. Not much space between pool lounges and the edge of pool and kids 5 to 10 y.o. running and banging chairs or splashing from pool, when asked to not do it they laughed and said you're not my mother! Parents not to be found, they did stop by from another pool on their way to the bar but weren't sitting where they planted their kids for the day. There should be a section for kids and parents with kids so that they are looked after, we shouldn't have to ruin our vacation by watching the heartstopping antics of someone else's children jumping off of bridges over the pools. This is not the resort's fault, but changes could be made to contain the children and force parents to be surpervisng them. i.e., No children allowed in children's pool under the age of 14 without constant supervision by a parent.
Food: This is a very large resort containing 3 in 1, you are allowed to visit all but beware, all food is the same at all the inside restaurants and good, the outside restaurant kept running out of the a la carte food on the menu at dinner so was disappointing and one time all the food was delicious and the next time meat overcooked and vegetables undercooked, but all in all the food was plentiful a good variety (just don't try and eat all on the buffet in one day). The wait staff in this resort are second to none, they are all fabulous!
Room: Rooms were assigned with jacuzzi tubs in the bedroom, bed was so close to front door that it was difficult to sleep without being disturbed and woken by others opening and closing their doors...there was echoing throughout and our door would shake when others slammed shut. Bathroom amenities were plentiful and the bathroom was okay except for having to walk around to the other side of the toilet to be able to close the door before sitting down, if someone wanted in the door would tear into your legs. Plenty of towels, but our bedding was missing the first day, just a mattress with three pillows and a duvet thrown over it, had to call room service to get it made and then they made the king size bed up with two double sheets that kept coming out and we got tangled in them during the night...the next day they made it correctly when I spoke with the supervisor on our floor, she took care of it right away and also provided us with a top sheet so we weren't having a duvet used by others touching our bodies too.
We were so disappointed that the people there with kids let them run wild in the common hallways leading to the rooms, this went on day and night with one set of parents locking their kids out of the room so they could have some down time but we suffered the consequences of the kids running up and down the hall screaming and banging on all the doors. Never had one good night's sleep there the whole time, and even tried to nap during the day but was impossible because the children found it wonderfully fun to scream and yell up and down the hallway ... they loved the echo! Couldn't wait to get home so I could finally get a good sleep. Suggest resort could book people with kids all in the same building so not to disturb other visitors without children and have at least one pool assigned for adults only and supervise it with signage to keep kids out.
Won't be returning to this place as it is way too large a resort for our personal liking and from now on we will go to 'adults only' resorts as parents seem not to care a bit about letting their kids run wild in a resort of strangers with no supervision even in the buffets kids were allowed to go by themselves and butted in line and were going around touching and trying pieces of food then putting it back ... sort of turns your stomach!
Unable to swim in the ocean as it was considerably windy with high surf and lots of seaweed at the time of our stay.
Would recommend to people with children but for those looking for a relaxing fun vacation without babysitting unwatched children go elsewhere.

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: Nice hotel.
I stayed here in April 2014. The rooms were beautiful and the hotel also. The food was amazing. The only thing that really sucked was you had to get downstairs and save a chair by 7am. People would do this everyday and then not even use there chair until 1:00 in the afternoon....so lame. Also the poo was very crowded and lots of kids. It is not somewhere to relax....it certainly has a party atmosphere. The service was really great at this hotel but they expect tips constantly. Holiday Inn Cancun Arenas: Almost Perfect
This hotel was very very clean, the people were great, the service was excellent and the only thing I would make sure of next time I go to Cancun is that the hotel is on the beach and in the sun all day. Because the sun was not on the hotel beach side most of the day the pools were too cool and were not really even used.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Would definitely return to the Gran Porto Real!
Vacationed at GPR in April 2013. When we arrived the room category that we paid for was not available so we were upgraded. We loved the room but chose not to pay extra for the upgrade so we're moved the next day. Our new room was on the street side of the resort. We actually liked watching the activity on the street.
The standard room was clean and comfortable with close access to the gym. The gym was small and more than adequate. I arrived early in the am and did not have any problems getting [... read more]a machine.
The beach was not the best but easy to navigate over the sand bags. Most times we would walk over the the GPR's sister resort for a swim. There were always plenty of chairs and shade. And if you like to walk the beach you could walk for hours.
The food was excellent. We like buffet dining more than al la carte. My husband never tired of the food.
Our sister and brother in law stayed at The Royal, the 5 star sister resort of GPR. We were able to take a short tour of their facilities and will try to visit there in the future. It was beautiful and offered many more amenities.
The service was excellent. The staff always greeted us and made us feel special.
