Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Good, but not a 5 star
The beaches and pools were fantastic, and the resort was generally quite quiet. The grounds were well maintained, and everything was clean. The food service was a bit of a problem. The main buffet had odd and inconsistent hours, and the spot that offered 24 hour food options was very, very limited with what it could provide and when. The rooms are advertised as 'all suites', but they are really just standard rooms with struggling plumbing and electrical.
Melia Marina Varadero: Best resort
Honestly the best resort I have ever stayed in cuba and I been there 6 times now. Great people. Great staff. Ok food. Great room. Great service. Great location. Great price Great drinks Great vip and level bonus. That says it all folks.
Melia Las Dunas: Fantastic staff
A friend and myself spent a week at this resort, Oct. 31 to Nov. 7 2019. The weather was good, mostly sun and cloud with a breeze which kept you from getting too hot. Resort needs some updating, our bathroom could really have used a remodel. A/C worked great, lots of hot water, fridge always had 2 beer and 1 pop and a large bottle of water which was replaced daily. Staff at this resort were the friendliest and very good at doing their job, from the front desk to the gardeners. Buffet dinne [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star.
Overall, it’s a decent place, one of the best beaches we had seen,.... the grounds are good. However, when it comes to food and selection, we will rate it as 3.5. Overall,... it’s a 4 star, definitely not a 5.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful setting
The hotel’s setting is secluded and natural with a good beach and coral reefs nearby. Just want we wanted. You need to remember this is Cuba and there are shortages on some items. However it does not make sense that calamari at the beach restaurant has a 90% chance of not being available. Also out of the three bars around the pool/ beach area you are lucky if only one has fresh mint to make a mojito. This should be easy local fixes. We also learned that because of the Thomas Cook bankruptcy st [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: Never disappointed
Just got back from my fourth trip to Sol Palmeras, Varadero. I look forward to going back again next year in October. As long as I am able, this resort will be my Destiination. I have made many friends and look forward to seeing them again and again. Thanks to Dayana ...a new friend and wonderful lady that helped me out travelling for the first time on my own. My room was beautiful, the food was great and the people are amazing. The performers/dancers are just so fun to watch. There are tim [... read more]
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort and Great Vacation
The resort is older but extremely well cared for. The grounds and walkways are wonderful! Rooms are older but clean. If you’re going to Cuba for a food experience, then you are going to the wrong country. Fourteen days and I was never hungry. Never tried the dinner restaurants but the buffet has something for everyone. The food at the pool bar, especially the pizza is unbelievable! Beach restaurant amazing BBQ lunches! Drink selection was fantastic, sometimes they ran out of some items like to [... read more]
Melia Buenavista: This resort was amazing!!!
This hotel was incredible. The rooms were spacious and very clean! The grounds were very well kept and the staff was so friendly and so attentive to all our needs. There are three beaches and two pools at this hotel so plenty of chairs for everyone. The food was good - not amazing but good. The butlers were very helpful and always around looking to do something for you. Danialis and Joel were our butlers and they were awesome. Danialis organized a lovely dinner for my husband's birthday, it sure [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: Excellent Melia Hotel
Hotel was well laid out, excellent pools & beach. Things that stood out were cleanliness of hotel, food was very good for Cuba & If you golf which I do, it is a beautiful course & just a 5 minute walk to clubhouse. Very impressed with the Melia & will definitely be returning to this Resort.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Royal Service
Amazing grounds, as good as, if not better than Secrets properties visited; especially considering the equipment, supplies and Cuban logistic challenges. Food, there is always something missing, oddly: onions and garlic limited availability; but you'll never go hungry. We had beef on 4 separate occasions and it was very good. Rooms, although the older area located atop of the rock face overlooking the resort are desirable, they are dated and in need of a redo, a/c so so. Resort is clean, and w [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Resort especially Royal side
While the regular side of the resort was nice, clean, well kept and the food was good we chose to upgrade to Royal Service. We had our own Butler “Jaz†who was absolutely wonderful and very accommodating and helpful. The pool was second to none. Loved my pool view at night with the changing lights. Special romantic dinner on the beach just made our stay. The hilltop restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Our plan is to make a trip next year to the same location.
Melia Las Americas: Totally ENJOYABLE!
I was not sure of what to expect in Cuba. However I am now ready to plan a return visit to the Melia Las Americas. The staff are all so welcoming, professional and helpful. The accommodation, a bit of an 80's retro - well maintained, spotlessly clean and everything in order. Contrary to some tales of Cuba that I have heard the quality of the food at this all inclusive resort was definitely a B+ with lots of variety and several locations in which to enjoy a meal or a snack. The main reason fo [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: Great resort
For any golf enthusiast this is the resort for you in Cuba. Melia Los Americas is an older resort a bit dated but you would never tell by the service amenities and food. The proximity and service to the golf course is second to none. Pool and beach are amazing. Had a great time.
Tryp Cayo Coco: Outdated Resort
To begin with, there are no flamingoes. Hurricane Irma destroyed their nesting areas. Yes, there are lots of other birds, insects and wildlife. Rooms are spacious. We enjoyed our ocean view room with balcony BUT there was NO inroom coffeemaker. There was a kettle & mugs but nothing else. Had a nice deep soaker tub but no bathtub PLUG. And, no radio, limited TV channels and I never did find the elusive free pair of slippers. Just be ready to tip, tip, tip, for every question & request made & fulf [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Poor resort
After returning from.this hotel on November 2 o would not recommended this resort ...its extremely big...drinks at the pool bar very poor....snack bar food very poor but if you are hungry you will eat anything....beach is nice but quite stoney when you walk in....I would reccomend water shoes....been to much nicer beaches in Cuba....the ala cart restaurants are ok...nothing special
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice Grounds and Pool
The hotel was nice, but needs a little TLC. Our friends toilet was coming off the wall and they secured it with a roll of toilet paper. There were no other swin up rooms available, so they(staff) fixed it as best they could. There was a very large crack in our sliding door, our coffee maker didn't work, the volume on the TV didn't work, we had hot water for the shower one day, the rest was tepid. The staff were amazing and very, very friendly. They made the trip. The food was so-so, but we [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort and Fabulous Staff
We spent 7 days here in the Royal Service section. Believe me when I say that the extra upgrade is worth every Peso. The food was good considering the shortage that Cuba is experiencing right now. As a very kind intelligent lady explained to us, the Cubans are giving us the best of what they have. The service was exceptional and we made friends with many of the Staff. Nacho and the ladies at the beach bar work very hard to keep the guests happy. The rooms are clean, the grounds are well main [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great time
This was our 3rd time returning to this resort and it was as wonderful as always. The staff can’t do enough for you, the restaurants and buffet were very good, wide verity cuisine. Although our suite was nice and freshly renovated the resort didn’t meet our request for room location on the resort and bed type which was made when we booked at the travel agent. The wasn’t as nice as it has been in the past due to storms the past season.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Lovely staff but repairs desperately needed
The resort grounds are very well kept. We stayed in the royal service area and I would definitely recommend that as the pool is awesome and the buffet restaurant is air conditioned. We went to the main buffet a few times and it was smoky and hot. The al la carts were hit and miss as well. We ended up upgrading our room after the first night because our air conditioning wasn’t working great, our swim out room was much better but our toilet was detaching from the wall and the clock was not w [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: A place worth coming back to
A place worth coming back to. We have been to this resort many times and we have many great memories. Yes, one could compare it to very modern looking, multi story resorts sitting on top of beaches with picture perfect white sand. One has to look beyond the food we eat, the size of the rooms or the paint on the walls. One has to look at how we relax and if we were satisfied at the end of our stay. I have to admit that this hotel offers that perfect getaway nestled in nature, with many fine peop [... read more]
