Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Very nice

Rooms are clean and good service except they didn't change our beach towels in 2 weeks. Food in the buffet not the best and also cold, but waiters are very nice, only 1 toaster for "ALL" in the buffet for breakfast just don't cut it. There's an excellent waitress in the lobby bar "Yireni" very friendly professional and also offered the best service everyone was served and didn't have to wait an hour for a drink.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Don’t go here!

I would not recommend the Valentin Perla Blanca resort in Santa Maria Cuba. I found it to be poorly managed, and there was a lack of maintenance on the property and in the rooms. They have two buffets but only one was open the entire week and they often ran short of food or something on the snack bar menu was unavailable . The lineups were long and slow. The bars near the beach ran out of Cervesa! The beachside snackbars weren’t open very long. (11/2 hrs until they ran out of food.) We asked f [... read more]or a map of the grounds but they said their printer wasn’t working so we had to take a photograph of their one and only copy. The hairdryer in the room glowed red but didn’t blow any air out. Fire hazard!! We complained and to their credit they did come and change it quite quickly. There was also an issue with the power in the rooms. The fridge worked sometimes, the sink was cracked, the light over the shower was burnt out and the toilet seat didn’t lineup. Very uncomfortable beds and pillow was like a pancake! Along the pathway a lot of the lights were burnt and at night it was very dark and hazardous to walk along there without a flashlight. The washrooms had no soap or a Bar of soap(unhygienic!)Hand dryers didn’t work half the time and always ran out of toilet paper ( probably because the dryers didn’t work) There was NO store to get emergency items like toothpaste or deodorant, flip flops or sunglasses. The “Gift Shop” is one small counter with some jewelry or figurines. No Post cards! And wasn’t open for very long during the day( not open at night) I heard many people complaining. Someone said they were there 2 years ago and everything was great - that’s why they came back. But now they would not return! Also there is a 2 hour bus ride to the airport- our bus on the return had no washroom on it! (The one on the way in DID have one) For a place that’s only 4 years old it looks 24years old! Definitely not 41/2 Star resort. I’d give it 21/2!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Resort is a big dissapointment...

ONLY really good thing is a room, above expectations! Grounds are also fine. Food is also good, especially the existence of the 24HRS Snack Bar with a rich many. Central Bar near entrance is the only one well stuffed with quality international drinks, including REAL Scotch & Vodka ETC. Contrary to that, AQUA (swim up) Bar is pathetic, and with lousy bartenders.All other servers were OK. Distance between the POOL & Beach is waaaay to looong for my taste. Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Just the right size resort (for me)

A very convenient resort because everything is close to the ocean, pools, restaurants, The staff are super people who are always kind. The rooms are spotless and new beds. The food was okay, cappuccinos were mmmmm good. I thought the 2 pools were the show case of the resort. I'll be back.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Good family vacation

Overall we had a great time. Beautiful beaches and the service around the entire resort was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of activities for the young and old! Amenities need some updating. Towels and linens could be replaced which would definitely make a difference.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: MELIA CAYO SANTA MARIA AMAZING

The beach and the people working at this hotel make our trip amazing!! The service was excellent in the restaurants and on the beach and at the pool. The coffee bar was a cool place to hang out and have an amazing drink with or without the very good coffee.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great!

Thought it was lovely! The not too small not too big resort had everything needed for a relaxing week in the sun! Exceptionally friendly staff added to the experience. Food was rather decent considering I’m a picky eater.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Ola! Terrific value!

The grounds were beautiful. Always staff grooming the gardens. Gorgeous beaches and clean uncrowded swimming pools. We went on March Break and never had a problem finding a selection of lounge chairs. Great lobby for drinks with comfy seating and lots of options for walks or snuggling into a cozy corner for a cappuccino while listening to live Cuban music. Excellent service was fast and super friendly. Room was always clean with bottles of water and fresh towels daily with a beautiful ocea [... read more]n view. Food was varied. Not everything was good, but you could always find something well prepared and tasty like custom omelettes, fresh pineapple, and a great cheese selection. A la carte restaurants had great steak. The best mojitos by far. We were a group of six adults from age 30-60 and everyone had a great time!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Large resort

Very large resort. Food selection was very limited. You will be very hungry if your a vegetarian. Pool and beach were great. Resort property could use some sprucing up. Rooms were average. Great AC in rooms but stained sheets. Staff helpful and friendly.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Resort

Ground was good Room what we expect, but food was good so bad always cold, Missing some change over 14 day visit . They need much better Coffee . We god always cold coffee with ground. Not good at all. Many day no Bacon or change at snake bar some fries , some times chicken, some time no fish. every day some missing. Bad organist. 5 Stars is to much for this bad service. Beach towel change should availability between 10 and 5 pm , but no service at this time or no delivery for towel. If they [... read more] change some like Beer in the room daily in the mini bar, well let the Guest know or bookings for the restaurant's at least 3 day in advance. This is stuff is never been told before we figger this on our own out . This was a really new experience for us.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Enjoyable week at the Dhawa!

We stayed at the Dhawa from March 8-15. This is our first visit to this resort and our second visit to Cuba, having vacationed at Cayo Coco last year. Overall we had a very good week at Dhawa and would recommend this resort to friends. Here's the breakdown as we saw it: Beach - nice and wide with powdery sand, and runs approximately 3/4 of a km to the next resort. We went down each morning around 7:30 to "reserve" a lounge chair and were happy to tip the attendants for providing this servic [... read more]e. There are quite a few shaded areas available, but if the resort is full you may not get a shaded area. When walking the beach you need to be a little bit careful of the small pieces of coral. I stepped on enough of them to recommend bringing water shoes even though I never suffered any cuts to my feet. The wind normally kicks up in the afternoon, creating small waves and somewhat murky conditions. Room - we were in block 5 and had a nice comfortable king size bed. The air conditioning system worked perfectly, and the shower room was large and had the most awesome rainfall showerhead with lots of hot water. We had a spectacular view of the ocean as we had upgraded to the Premium Oceanfront...definitely worth the extra! Food - for Cuba standards, the food was quite good. We didn't bother with the a la cartes (tried to book the Italian but it was full for days). The buffet has quite a large variety although it tends to repeat. The omelet grill was very good, as was the stir fry grill. We even enjoyed salmon on one occasion! We were spoiled with the service of Carlos who can usually be found to the right upon entering the large buffet area. Entertainment - we found the entertainment in the bar lobby to be very good, but the evening entertainment was a disappointment...way too loud and no where near the quality that we enjoyed last year. Bars - No complaints about the any of the bars. Contrary to other experiences we've had especially in the DR, the bartenders didn't seem to be hungry for tips here...service was good regardless of tipping. The drive to this resort is quite long...1-1/4 - 1-1/2 hours, but hey you get to enjoy nice cold Crystal beer along the way (2 for $5 Canadian). But warned that our bus only made one pit stop along the way, and the girls bathroom was behind a large rock and the guys bathroom was on the side of the causeway...lol Thank you, Dhawa, for providing an excellent vacation experience!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Relaxing Beach Getaway

This was our first time to Cuba. We came for a good beach and relaxation and our expectations were met in full. The resort is busy but not crowded with lots of well kept open spaces, bright and breezy areas and a relaxing environment. There was a good variety of daytime and nighttime activities. We paid extra for an Oceanview suite and it was worth it. The staff were courteous, professional and attentive. The food was very good with lots of choice at the buffet. The food was simply  [... read more]prepared but fresh and well presented. The only negative comment is directed to smoking guests - pick up your cigarette butts! Especially from the beach.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: The resort was fine.

The grounds of the hotel was OK. The public areas was clean. Food was plenty but very bland. Very long walk to the beach,but lots of swimming pools. Biggest concern no medical facilities at this big resort. They told me to hire my own taxi and travel 10 Km to see a doctor. Long wait for a drink or a specialty coffee

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Would Not Recommend

2 hour bus ride. The bus did not have a toilet on it. We had our orientation on Tuesday and went to book our À la cartes. We waitied in line for an hour and were told they had nothing until Saturday which was the day we were leaving. Couldn't exchange our towels because there was no one there all day at the towel hut. Public bathrooms were dirty and had no toilet paper. You had to wait in a line to get wifi, go into a room then resign in every time you wanted to get on line. The beach/pool bars [... read more] had imported and gross alcohol. The rooms were okay. The Beach is beautiful. Food was okay. Definitely not a 4.5 star. Maybe a 3.

Melia Las Dunas: My honest opinion

The resort was nice the set up was nice there is a kids side and an adult side which is where we were put even tho we were booking with a child which I found odd. I went on the Monday to book out al la carts and was told they were booked until Friday which was the day we left but someone traveling at the same time as us who was in the information session managed to get them every day they were at the resort. Most staff were very nice but they were enough that stood out as rude makes us never wan [... read more]t to go back. Went to get wifi and the lady was on her phone which is not a big deal but we really rude and made me and my daughter feel as tho we were wasting her time by wanting access to the wifi for an hour, we went for supper one night and sat at our table and the waitress cleaned two tables off on each side of us filled water for everyone but our table we didn’t even get a first glass until we went to another server and asked for water and even still it wasn’t filled by our server. There were so many little faults on rude staff that even tho the resort is nice we will look at different resorts for any future vacations to Cuba.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Very nice

Great beach with some snorkeling, everything is close, great service, free WiFi, really nice people. The only negative is tiny to almost invisible annoying insects that you will remember long after you come home.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Time

The hotel was small and well maintained. Glad we got an oceanfront view. Food was passable. You don’t go to Cuba for the food. Staff was lovely. Beach was nice, hard to get a chair at times and music was loud.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Wonderful Resort, Beautiful Staff

The resort as a whole is wonderful. As you enter the lobby the view of the ocean takes your breath away. The lobby had plenty of seating in all different forms. Chairs, benches, couches, lounging beds. The front desk staff is very friendly and as helpful as they can be. The main building is very well kept and beautiful. The buffet staff are amazing but the food does repeat itself daily. Not much variety but not surprising for Cuba. The grilling stations are few and they could use a lit [... read more]tle sprucing up or deep cleaning. The rooms are always clean and stocked but need some more upkeep. Baseboard tiles in our room were missing. Toilet seat lid in both of our rooms wouldn’t stay up. Pools were never too busy. Always found chairs. Their were pool tiles missing from the bottom of the pools. Overall, the resort is lovely, the people are amazing and the beach is the best I have ever seen.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great resort overall

Great resort The staff were really friendly and approachable. We got to know our waiters and the daytime entertainment staff and they are lovely people. They went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. We had paid for a pool view room and we were very pleased at the view. Not only could we see the beautiful pool but the ocean as well. The daytime entertainment was great. We like to participate, and we got to do step classes, dancing, etc. If you wanted to relax more, they have pools on the other side of the resort that are quieter. The night entertainment was really great dancers- typical to other resort entertainment. The room was cleaned everyday and the cleaner was nice. Room for improvement The food was not the greatest. I was travelling with a vegetarian and she could not eat much at the resort, so I'd recommend bringing snacks. Also they did have fresh food being made at certain stations, but the lines were quite long. For the room, while it was clean and with a great view, there were some stains on the sheets. Overall, this resort was great especially for the price. I would go back.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Dhawa Santa Maria Resort

This is the first all-inclusive resort that I have been to. This resort is rated as a 4 star. I would definitely give it 4 stars. The service was excellent in both the rooms and in all dinning areas. The room was clean, spacious with a great view and the balcony was perfect for peaceful and quiet times. I was pleasantly surprised about the food. Being a lover of seafood, I really enjoyed the fresh fish, shrimp etc. The selection of various dishes was a nice surprise as well. Overall, it was a great experience!
