The resort was great, always had staff cleaning ,our rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels. The staff were very friendly. The problem we had was the the buffet was always cold, and the drinks were not made with fresh juice.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Relaxing get away at the beach!
Overall, this was a lovely trip. We had fun and enjoyed the beach everyday. The staff were very attentive, especially at the beach bringing plenty of drinks and food to our loungers. No concerns finding space on the beach, and the beach is amazingly beautiful. The rooms were fine, clean and the beds where comfortable, but definitely not posh, just simple. The little chairs outside were not very comfortable, and we do like to sit on the balcony or terrace to read and drink coffee in the morni[... read more]ng. In some common areas, i found a bit dirty with litter scattered around (yes it was windy, but it was there all day) pool was ok but not enough loungers and some needed to be tossed in the garbage they were in such poor shape. I did not like that they used little plastic cups, and we did bring a insulated coffee cup to keep our drinks cold and reduce waste.
We had lunch everyday at the beach eating either sandwiches and or pizza. Pizza was excellent. Washrooms were a bit of a walk from the diamond club beach area. Coffee is good at the snack bar, otherwise and in the piano bar. Don't order anywhere else or you will be disappointed. We ate breakfast at the buffet and at the diamond club breakfast that they serve. Eggs were cooked well, omelette. Very bad pancake. Decently fresh fruit. Dinner was decent at the buffet. I did not stave and again, the service is wonderful. Not a lot of fresh veggies, and i was sometimes disappointed to see ham added to the veggies-why? The fried fish was pretty good and i lived on this at dinner everyday so i can't say what any other meats tasted like. The restaurants, i was really disappointed in. The food was dry and just plain. The fish soup at the asian restaurant tasted like sea water and a couple bits of fish. I could not believe they could serve something so horribly bad. Entertainment was good, but we did not see much as we went to bed early.
Overall we had 5 STAR FUN, and the staff were great, but this is barely a 4 star resort, so do not expect too much and you will have lots of fun too!
What was 5 star:
-the beach of course
-not a bad price (3 star price)
-very attentive friendly staff
-best pizza on the beach
-crazy funny towel animals in our room
-Junior brought me a coconut to drink and eat everyday!
What was 2 star:
-the restaurant food
-bland food
-old decaying loungers
-the wasteful use of small plastic disposable cups

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: AMAZING BEACH!!
Keeping in mind the hurricane on Nov/17.. this property was actively working hard to restore their grounds. We found the rooms to be “tired†and our mattress REALLY needed replacement. A Fresh coat of paint would make a world of difference. There seems to be a discord between staff...one department blaming other department. We paid for “Diamond Club “upgrade which included minibar replenish each day which it wasn’t and when inquiring why housekeeping said they ran out of supplies. [... read more]This went on for 4days while other rooms in our group received replenishes. Would recommend Buildings 2,3,4 top floor Ocean view. As a “Perkâ€of “Diamond Club†our a la carte dinners were pre booked....but at 5:30 for two and 8:30 for one.....Not our preferred times. We would have preferred to choose our own dinner times and restaurants. The Food.....well it’s CUBA so it was very much lacking flavour. The Diamond Club Beach Bar and Snack Hut were GREAT! The fish was very good. Would we return?...maybe not. Want to try other locations

Resonance Blu Varadero: Could of been better
Well I have to say every worker I came across were extremely friendly. The only issue I had was two things: First, they kept running out of cups. Secondly, they only had one buffet open and the resort was massive. Otherwise it was average.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great time!
My family and I (4 adults and 2 children under 5) had a great 7 day stay. The staff was great from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to Dayrelis, Elisabet Silva, Yurisbel, Lourdes, Darlenis, Anisley, Yoandry and Maday Fabre. The food was amazing. There were many meat and vegetable dishes (although many vegetable dishes had ham unnecessarily added to them). For those who wanted more seasoning, there was an abundant supply of sauces. We loved the dessert options they had with every meal! W[... read more]e ate at a couple of the other restaurants which were good too. The pools were nice, although the kids' pool needed to be cleaned. We left the kids at the Memories Fun Club and they had lots of fun. The beach was nice but unfortunately there was a lot of algae. The sand was nice, with areas of shade too. Free catamaran and free pedal boat rides (same-day appointment needed)! Free horserides on the beach too. Obviously tips were much appreciated. The hotel itself was quite dated. We had two rooms amongst us and both washrooms need some work. One of the sinks was always on the brink of being clogged. Also, there was an open or broken sewer pipe outside our rooms (260 and 261). We could see the water bubbling out of the ground and worse, smell it. Having said this, we had a great time and would go again.

Memories Jibacoa: Repeat Visit - not a disappointment!
After much anticipation and a bad experience on our November trip in another country, we were very pleased to see all of our friends (aka fabulous staff) at Memories Jibacoa! It is like our second home, as we've lost count of the number of times we've been there. The beach is superb, had some damage from the hurricane....but that means new palapas, which were almost ready by the time we left. Great snorkeling due to many reefs just off the beach. The blocks of rooms were getting a fresh coat[... read more] of paint while we were there. Still needs some updating inside as the rooms are a little tired, but progress is being made. The grounds are looking better than we remember, despite losing a couple of the bigger plants in the hurricane. The food has slipped a bit in our opinion but we never went hungry and we've never come back weighing less than when we got there ;)
I'd like to give a shout out to these fabulous people who made our trip (apologies if we didn't get the name quite right):
Janet - new General Manager, she was a delight to meet and eager to make everything right for our stay, and for the benefit of future visitors
Yeniol - our favourite bar waiter
Nelson - the world's best egg and omelette maker
Hanoi, Elisa, Joel, Janet, Lester, Noeski and many many more!! - the buffet restaurant wait staff
We're already watching the prices for November :)

Overall I found this hotel to be great for the price. Geared towards families more so if you’re looking for nightlife this isn’t the place. Service was great. Food was ok. Not great. Pools great and rooms alright. Not fancy, damp but clean.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Family resort
Nice spot, good beach, great staff. Long walk to beach, not for
someone with walking issues. The on site store is way over priced. Food is OK no complaints but nothing special.
Tipping seems quite mandatory, resort looks like it could use some serious upgrades in upkeep. Some of the public washrooms are not very clean. Lots of Cuban music and night shows are good.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Could be good with some upgrades
Stayed at The Memories Hotel from Mar 8-15 (March break in Ontario). The hotel needs a lot of upgrades. The rooms are old and smelly, the bathrooms in rooms are horrible. There is no fan or proper ventilation in bathrooms so the smell lingers. The maid was nice and tried her best to keep the room clean but due to luck of proper cleaning tools, the floors always seamed to be dirty and with sand on it. The beach is beautiful and sandy with lots of shade. The pool was nice but the water cold.
The[... read more] service at the Snack bars was very slow and the bars often run out of vodka and beer.
At the snack bars the service was slow unless you tipped. Our waitress at the main buffet restaurant was very nice and very helpful and always with a smile.
The worst were the public bathrooms, some with no lights, no toilet paper, no hand soap, and had an awful smell.
When exchanging money to Cuban pesos, there was never enough change for tipping as the bank and the front desk kept saying no change available only 5 or 3 pesos and very little in 1 pesos. At one time I had threatened them that I will not be tipping unless I get the change. There are some people that do go out of their way to keep you happy but not many.
The entertainment team was very good, the shows were good, the Japanese restaurant was interesting and the food good.
Other ala carts were also good. Cannot complain about the food as it was good for Cuban standards, at least our family enjoyed it. We stayed in block 39 which is close to the pool with the slide and close to the beach but too far from the main buffet.
Lots of walking at the resort as it is spread out a lot.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Mehh....
While the beach was incredible I would rate this place to be a 3/5. There were some good and some not so good things.
If you truly don't care about anything but weather and beach - GO!
If overall cleanliness of facilities DOESEN'T bother you - GO. All of the resort public bathrooms are disgusting! - and usually lacking toilet paper. Guest room bathrooms riddled with BLACK MOLD and a shower that is so old that the faucet is hanging out of the wall! And our room was a renovated room. [... read more]
The staff were much friendlier than the last time I was in Cuba (Veradero). However, if you don't want to feel like every staff member is anticipating a tip from you for EVERYTHING - DON"T GO!!
If you want windows open to enjoy the ocean breeze off your ocean view room - DON'T GO! (Unless you like fighting mosquitos that have been interrupting your sleep for a few hours and as you eliminate them, 1 by 1, you realize the pint of blood all over your wall and ceiling is YOUR BLOOD!)
Also, even with the AC set to 20C, the humidity would seep in due to the sliding door of the balcony not closing properly. The last night I crawled into bed and discovered that my bed was soaked in condensation.
Food & Beverage:
The cheese selection and cold cuts at the buffet were awesome! The house red is quite nice as well. Enjoyed it with the cheese. The seafood presentation was very nice, but disappointing in flavor. The fresh fish is excellent, as were the chicken tacos. The buffet basically had the same food every night. Thankful for salt. The Snack Bar is open 24 hrs. The pizza is safe. In the evening the "Cuban" dinner is really good. Wish I had discovered this earlier.
The "Italian" a la carte had no idea that they could create some amazing meals with the cheese they had access to. Stick with the spaghetti. The service was good and the view was nice. The chocolate mousse wasn't bad. The Mediterranean a la carte was worse. We felt so rushed and managed even though the place was 70% empty. Our food was terrible!! Ended up eating something at the snack bar later.
Cutlery and place mats were generally dirty more often then not at the buffet and snack bar. Also, the meat is very tough and all they have are butter knives - accept for the Italian restaurant.
GO TO THE LOBBY BAR!!!!! Morning and night!!! They make the best mixed drinks as well as having espresso in the morning. I brought my own tea bags.
Other Stuff:
My husband needed the Doctor to get a weekly shot administered. He was very pleased with the service he received. Friendly and professional. There was a small fee of $5 Cuban but well worth it.
Moron - If you go into the city there are several beggars. Some will try to convince you they recognize you because they work at your resort. (They all know the wrist bands of the different resorts). They will tell you they just had a baby and are going to be off for 5 days. Could you please give them some money so they can buy - this or that... Just ignore them.
There is a very long causeway to get to Moron. On the Cayo Coco side there is the best Pina Colada you will ever have! Lovely scenery as well.
Only take Canadian currency - NO AMERICAN!! You must change your money at the airport or hotel (8:30 - 4:30). Get lots of small bills. Exchange is about the same as U.S. We spent about $300 in tips for the week. It adds up quickly.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Spend the extra 200 bucks
You are getting your bang for your buck but I’d rather have spent the extra 200 bucks and went next door. There are at least 100 steps to get to breakfast lunch dinner and the lobby. It is a tired resort seeking a lot of attention. Not enough staff for March break which resulted in long waits and miserable staff.
