Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Absolutely worst experience by far!
Upon arrival, despite our requests and confirmation from the resort that we not be placed in blocks 14 to 18, we were assigned rooms in block 17. After much debate, we were relocated to block 11. However, one room was not ready, and when we finally received it around 7 PM, the bed was unmade. Neither room had bath towels.
We requested a rollaway bed for the room with a king-size bed, which arrived at 2 AM—waking us up, which was absolutely unacceptable. On Day 2, we still had no bath towels, [... read more]face cloths, or toiletries. Our fridges were not restocked — no water, soda, or beer. We only received a few towels late in the evening after demanding to speak with a manager. Pool towels are also consistently unavailable.
The buffet is frequently out of food and plates. We received raw chicken from the jerk centre and our last a la carte dinner was ruined by the ignorance of our waiter. Our birthday banner request was ignored, and no extras were provided. The customer service has been extremely poor.
Given we paid over $9,000 for this vacation, we are extremely dissatisfied, we will not return to this resort and are deeply disappointed by the disregard shown by staff and management!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Good resort
Just got back from Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica. Clean resort, Staff were nice, we booked 4 rooms - out of the 4 rooms 2 rooms were great for AC but the other 2 rooms AC was not working well. Very hot weather out so when you come back from the beach/pool you want the AC working in your room. Thank goodness i brought a little fan to help me sleep at night. Hotel needs renos big time. The rooms we stayed in had a beautiful view of the ocean. The rooms were out dated. the ocean view made up for i[... read more]t! Food was amazing. loved the jerk chicken!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Excellent Resort
We stayed at this resort in July 2025. The family thoroughly enjoyed because we had appropriate expectations. This is our 5th trip to a bahia resort.
Staff: very friendly, always had a smile and greeted throughout the resort.
Check in: slow process but be patient. Tried to use their app to check in but would not load. We were given newly renovated rooms in building 17 and 18.
Rooms: clean, stocked. Bring your soap for hand. They only provide shampoo and conditioner in showers. Towels beca[... read more]me an issue by day 3. We did not get any clean towels delivered despite calling reception 4x. Used pool towels. Our fridge was not working. It was replaced by day 3 after many calls and visiting front desk.
Beach: very rocky by the resort. You have to walk to the left of the resort pass the kids area and the beach, sand is pristine there. Never an issue getting a chair.
Food: Amazing for a resort. Always can find something to eat. Pisces restaurant by the beach was amazing if you don't want to get back to main buffet. Others enjoyed the jerk hut although twice we tried but chicken a bit undercooked for us. The main buffet was our favorite spot. Many options for all. Pizza and freshly made pasta amazing. Some curries like goat or stews were a bit too salty at times and unfortunately lead to much food waste from what I have noticed. Drinks were amazing overall. We tried most drinks from the menu. Favorites were Bob Marley, margaritas, mohitos, mai tai, drink of the day, rum cream. You can pay for premium alcohol if you choose.
Entertainment: could use some more night shows but kids enjoyed the magic show, circus, fire dragon.
A fantastic vacation overall and we would definitely return after their renovations.

Grand Lido Negril: Resort was not the one
For the price we paid for grand lido it was certainly not worth it, our Ac was broken and we had fans, they attempted to move us only to the room next door which was same issue, the whole week there we had two fans in order to keep our room cold. We had a leak due to the ac that was broken in our room. Very disappointing as this was my 3rd time at royalton in general and i came back only for the service but to receive terrible service from upper management.
The staff are however friendly but t[... read more]hey have no authority to help you during inconveniences and its ultimately the managers that make a decision and dont really care to take care of issues or even follow up…
The manager i spoke to the first night was suppose to follow up the next day for the Ac and i never ended up hearing from him and I had to follow up with my own butler to look into the AC or at least move us.
The washroom also had mold, which is not okay for guests to stay in.
The food at all 3 hotels was decent definitely fell off from the last time i was there.
It is a all natural hotel which means you have to be naked to use grand lidos facilities and if you’re not comfortable like us and didn't know, i would certainly not recommend this hotel at all.

Zoetry Montego Bay: Meh - not worth the money
Considering the price point, we had an okay stay at Zoetry. Zoetry is tagged as a luxury resort – but we do not think that is an accurate representation of this resort.
Food – the food was delicious, but it took FOREVER. Every meal is a sit down, menu meal. After ordering, most meals took a minimum of 30 minutes to arrive, sometimes well over an hour until we received our food. It felt like a huge waste of time to sit and wait for food three times a day. The juice was from a jug which is disa[... read more]ppointing when visiting a tropical country.
Beach – The beach sand is lovely, but the water was not great. The ground was covered in seaweed.
Staff – Most of the staff was lovely, always willing the help. We were assigned a butler, who was honestly annoying. I don’t really know what his purpose was.
Room – Our room was spacious and clean. It was lacking basic towels (hand & face) and bathrobes.
Fitness/Gym – The equipment is old, and very difficult to function. The treadmills were constantly showing an error code.
Entertainment – There was a daily schedule of events and activities. These events rarely took place. There was no basket weaving, wood carving or leather activity as indicated on the schedule. Daily “fresh juice” was just a jug of juice poured into a dispenser.
Overall, for the price we paid, expecting luxury, we would not return to this resort.

Couples Tower Isle: Quiet relaxing resort
The resort is about a 1.5-hour drive from Montego Bay Airport (MBJ). On the way there, it felt more like a 40 minute ride, but the return trip felt longer—likely due to traffic or time of day. It’s definitely a bit of a drive from the main airport though.
The resort has a mix of old and new in terms of aesthetics. You can tell the resorts been around for a while—hallways and rooms show some wear, like cracked balcony tiles, older furniture, and a shower that could use a little more care. But[... read more] the lobby, restaurants, bars, and gift shop seem recently updated with a more modern feel. Everything was clean overall, though some areas could use some touch ups.
Our room had a comfortable king-sized bed, though the bedding felt a bit rough—we mostly slept on top of the sheets and were fine. AC is available in the rooms but not in the lobby, hallways, or restaurants, so it can get hot when walking around. The in-room AC worked, but wasn’t very strong—we had it set to 60°F, and while it felt cool after being out for a while, if you started to move around a lot it would start to feel warm again despite the AC being on the coldest setting. We spent most of our time outside anyways, so the features of the room aren’t really something that’s too important for me. There was a large wall-mounted TV with limited channels, and the Wi-Fi worked best in the lobby. It was slow or spotty in the rooms, on the beach, and at restaurants.
We appreciated the quiet grounds—no bugs or pests inside, just a few ants or bees outside. We also saw some tiny land and sea crabs, and a few adorable kittens roaming around.
The food was great! There are 4 restaurants, and some require reservations—which you can make through the front desk or guest services. Bayside, the Asian-inspired restaurant, was our favorite. We also enjoyed the poolside buffet night with Jamaican/Caribbean dishes—it was a standout.
The pool grill served delicious beef and chicken patties, which you could grab to-go and eat on the beach. Staff was really accommodating with food requests. Across the restaurants, buffets, and grills, there was a wide variety of foods provided, such as: omelets, bacon, plantains, cereals, soups, jerk chicken, oxtail, rice, burgers, tacos, steak, shrimp, pad Thai, curry, fruits, cheeses, desserts, and more. The food had that typical resort feel but was still flavorful and satisfying. Cocktails were strong but tasty—we especially enjoyed the jerk chicken, patties, and drinks.
The beach was the best part. The water was calm, clear, warm, and shallow—a dream for non-swimmers like me. Most days had green flags, and only one was a yellow flag, when we noticed tiny fish swimming nearby. There’s a buoy line about 40 feet or more out that marks where the water gets deep, so there’s plenty of shallow space to enjoy. Best of all, there were hardly any vendors, so it felt very peaceful. They hardly had loud music playing too. We used our tiny personal speaker for some music while on the beach and by the pools. Keeping it at a low volume so not to disturb anyone. No one complained or commented.
There’s also a small private island accessible by boat, but it is nude-only. Guests can visit clothed from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and take photos, but after 9 a.m. guests must be nude and no pictures allowed. I didn’t know the private island was nude only, so I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to spend more time there, clothed lol. But we still had fun enjoying the short boat ride to the private island, and spending 30min was just enough to take some stunning photos by the cliffs.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend Couples Tower Isle for couples looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway. It’s not a party resort—the average age was around 45+, but as a couple in our early 30s, we really appreciated the calm atmosphere, great food, strong drinks, and beautiful beach. We’ll definitely be back!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: OK resort but not 5*
Was excited to go to a 5 star resort but really disappointed. We pre checked in with Bahi App. Upon arrival requested an area (sections 15-18) in the resort. The reception said ok, but we got the complete opposite end (section 23...dont accept a room here). Close to the Adults Only Luxury Resort. We had 4 children in our group! This was fine at first but one room had a bad leak from the ceiling in front of the bathroom, so that room got moved after waiting the day for someone to fix it and [... read more]then no one coming and we had to fight with hotel management. Finally at 1 AM...they got moved to other end of hotel (section 18). Our other two rooms were infested with cockroaches and the toilets didn't flush unless you put your hand in the tank. As we booked together and wanted to be close we asked for all rooms to be moved to section 18. Well we showed pictures of the uninvited daily guests and were told we would be moved....got the push around for 3 days. Finally we found the air canada rep (she was MIA for 2 days) who pushed things and got us moved on the 4th day. If you book you must ensure you are in section 18 as these rooms were much more updated and 4 start quality (we still saw 2 cockroaches but it was not a daily issue). The other rooms (section 23) were more like 3 star. Food in the buffet was OK, the restaurants were much better. We are beach users so that was a little disappointing rocks and coral near shore but mostly sand when you get knee deep. Roped off areas due to sea urchins so cant go deep. Doesn't compare at all to any Cuba beaches (we have been to 5 different Cuba resorts). We had a good group of people so had fun even with all the issues.
We were told that the resort is being renovated in 2026. Much needed.

Riu Ocho Rios: Expected better
The Asian food display was not appetizing. The Asian and Steakhouse restaurants were 6/10. The buffet food was good to start then slowly went downhill. There was no music/dancing past 11 p.m. The beer was always room temperature. Service was good. The beach itself was nice except when you step on rocks.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Budget resort
Well where do i start. Ok the resort was clean but unkept, there was no eye for detail. Rooms outdated even though it seemed as though it was recently renoed, no dresser to put your clothes, there was a constant hum from the ac unit, apparently they said some part had to be repaired. If the fan was on it would make a creeking sound, so that was off and our towels only got replaced when we complained. As for our beach towels, well they either were out or were closed. One elevator worked out of tw[... read more]o so most times we took the stairs and we were on the fourth floor. Food was ok but clearly too much salt at times and the staff, well the staff was not the greatest in the buffet area. Not attentive, at times we stood for 4, 5 minutes before we sat with no one even coming to greet the guests, it just seem unorganized and lacked caring at times. The bars were different they seemed engaged with guests, but the dj quite often played some racially inflammatory music, along with some inappropriate language with young kids about, my wife was not impressed. And finally the entertainment was suspect at best. Would I return, no, sorry I'll pay more next time and stay somewhere else.

Princess Grand Jamaica: Lovely place
Grounds beautiful
No worry for sun chairs at this time (since place is New)
Water in pools likely need inspection more often as we all got upper respiratory/ear infections
Good service
Rooms very clean and nicely appointed
Floors should be mopped more regularly as feet are black quickly
Still in soft opening phase we believe
Typically at 30-35% capacity with locals coming periodically for 2 day vacations making capacity bigger during those times. Unruly behaviours noted during these time[... read more]s.
Buffet was great
A la carte italian was great
Entertainment crew lovely
Pool side servers are very slow but easy to get beverages yourself
Would benefit from a tween/teen section (e.g. pool/air hockey/lounge w/ music) for the 7pm-9pm hours
Gaming room is good for a handful of kids/young adults but does not capture a larger following
Water slides are a hit but again...water should be checked for bacteria
Casino set to be ready for November - not sure about that
60min ride to/from airport - but can be upwards of 90min if you are in rush hour - as a large portion of the ride is on a local windy rode vs. highway
-Nexxus transfer bus is in desperate need of an inspection - suspension, engine sounds, wiper no working. A lot a people to move safely to and from on a daily basis
-Shows/entertainment were very good
-Early departure for home - expects passengers to leave at 525am with no breakfast.
-then the WestJet ticket/wicket does not open til 730am
-Coffee shop that is 24 hours for pastries and sandwiches (which is meant to offset the after hours) does not get delivery til closer to 6am.
-if you purchase your checked in luggage w/ SunWing prior to vacation, West Jet does not have proof that you have paid for your luggage and therefore when you 'check in' at the YYZ AIRPORT - you cannot immediately get luggage tickets from machine, YOU MUST line up to check in (even though you have already checked in online 24 hours prior) and YOU MUST show your invoice to prove you paid (BOTH in Toronto and in Montego Bay) because SunWing and WestJet are not in full communication with one another as of yet.

The pool was amazing and the staff all friendly and outgoing, had a great time by the pool with all the daily activities and entertainment. Beach was small but was ok for a beach day. Azul Beach Resort Negril: Great resort!
Azul resort was overall a great resort to stay at. The pool is open 24 hours so the late night swims were amazing. Resort staff were all super friendly and accommodating. The food was okay, not the best but the Ackee restaurant was great as it had authentic Jamaican food. The beach was beautiful as well! The crowd at the resort was mostly older adults and families and lacked a lot of younger crowds/music/activities. Overall I’d give the resort a 6.5/10.

Couples Tower Isle: Well-cared for resort
Beach--2.5/5 (small beach, very little shade, and not much for swimming)
Water sports--2.5/5 (yellow flag every day except our last day which was green and all water sports were a go. This was odd as every day had the same windy weather; it looks like the water sports staff only want to take people water skiing once a week. Snorkelling was disappointing as there were not that many fish to see. Hobbie cat was fun)
Food--3/5 (food was okay, best food was at the Verandah and Eight Rivers. Was eat[... read more]ing a crab spring roll and pulled a one inch fish bone out of my mouth!)
Service--2/5 (service not great. Staff fighting, staff standing around talking when people are waiting to be served)
Rooms--3/5 (resort is in the middle of being renovated. Building staff take really good care of the building)
Concierge--4/5 (promptly dealt with all requests and concerns)
Location--2/5 (close to 2 hours from airport; near a main road so we heard a lot of loud trucks, motorcycles, and stereo music, not quiet)
Golf--4/5-- at the Sandals Upton Golf and Country club. Course was okay, not on the ocean. Not too scenic or challenging--no water hazards. Staff were friendly and helpful)
Quite a few couples make this their returning destination. One couple we met had been going there since 2006! Another couple for the last 8 years. So, there is something that keeps them coming back, maybe the pools and the au naturel island :)

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Wonderful loved every moment!
Just got back from the Royalton Negril. Went with a gf and we just loved every minute of our stay and would go back in a heart beat. Would definitely recommend this resort. Had a long beautiful beach for walking. If you walk down he beach about 15 minutes there are local vendors selling tourist things to buy which is fun! We had Diamond Club and really enjoyed this feature. I read reviews where people said this wasn't worth it. We found it quite a nice treat and our butlers O'Shain and Daron wen[... read more]t above and beyond. We had tons of beach towels placed in our room every evening, bottles of Prosecco, ice, meals brought to our lounge chairs, made dinner reservations for us...was a real treat! Wouldn't normally get or need something like this but our travel agent recommended it and it wasn't that much more and it was extremely nice to have (a great splurge and treat). We really enjoyed the Diamond Club pool, swim up bar and beach bar/restaurant. That is a really nice added bonus of DC. The additional pool and beach area and nice and quiet, provides an extra change of scenery than just access to the main pool. We loved sitting in this area during noon or later as the main pool like any resort gets loud and busy. Never had to worry about not enough beach chairs there is tons on the beach so don't need to save chairs. The main pool people did this. The beach is stunning. TONS of snorkelling. Was so happy about this!
We really enjoyed all the restaurants. Great food! The buffet for lunch and dinner was ok. But the jerk hut and having the food truck are nice lunch options. Another perk of DC was the a la carte breakfast. We did this quite often and really loved it. Our server Do'Shane was so friendly and welcoming as was all the staff, a very welcoming and fun vibe! Breakfast was superb in the a la carte if you are DC (Diamond Club) and the buffet room. Great dinner options loved the Zen restaurant and the steakhouse. Enjoyed all our meals!
Our Diamond Club room in building 5 was incredible. We had two balconies with a hot tub. We loved everything about our room and was one of the nicest rooms I have seen. The lobby of this hotel is gorgeous with so much seating available to enjoy a sunset in the evening. A shout out to Megon at the lobby bar she was fantastic! This resort also has a beautiful gift shop one of the nicest I've seen in the Caribbean. We enjoyed the nighty entertainment after dinner.
I only have two small concerns, the Italian restaurant took a very long time to get our food so was a bit disappointed here and the pool hours are strict from 9-6. I love to have a morning swim around 7-8:30 am and have never been told I cannot swim in the pool in the morning so this was a bit hard for me. I am a morning person and love to relish in a morning dip before breakfast. They have lifeguards on duty starting at 9am which is great for safety but I would like the option to swim unattended before 9am. I could see if they were cleaning the pool at 7 or 8 am but this was not the case. Even then I have enjoyed a morning swim while staff vacuum the pool in the morning at other places. Last, it is quite a long shuttle ride (1.5-2 hours) so be prepared but once you get there it is so worth it!
I would recommend this resort for so many reasons. Was extremely happy and am looking forward to trying more Royalton resorts. The staff, grounds/pools and restaurants were all amazing. Had a wonderful holiday! Will be back!
