Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Amazing Resort, Pools and Beach

It is not a 5 star, but bang for your money. The hotel has changed hands and it is gradually being upgraded over time with paint, new chairs etc. (not enough staff - one person said, they were about 200 staff short) They are trying to invented it as a destination wedding venue. They were taking the activity crew away and having them do different things for weddings and event planners conference, we did not see the activity crew until almost noon.(2 days). So we took charge of our own stretc [... read more]hing class and then another gent took charge the next day. There was always something to eat if you did not like the looks of something. When we had a problem with very very stinky pillows, we just left a note for cleaning staff and they changed them -- that was the only issue we had . The activity staff had things for us to do all day - stretching, crazy game, bean toss, darts, water polo, beach volley ball, water acrobics etc.

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: At least the AC is working and the view is spectacular!

I'm not a fan of leaving reviews, but future visitors to the country need to know. The only two things great about this hotel is the AC works wonderfully, and the view of the blue waters and sunset is spectacular. My husband and I stayed in this hotel for a week. Wowed by the beautiful clean ocean, and the sunset views, I looked beyond the wreck of what should've been our walk-out-to-the-beach-from-the-room accommodation. But surely, typhoon-hit or not, they can wash the silverware/cutlery, glass, and plates, right? NOPE. So, future guests, bring your own spoon, fork, knife, glass, else you will be wearing the lipstick of the lady who used the wares before you did. By day 3, I learned that they have disposable paper cups just by the bar for tea and coffee. I grab 2 of these for our juice in the morning, and for dinner, we always get alcoholic drinks because they put straws in those. (Come to think of it, I don't know if they recycle straws too!) Food was sub-par. I didn't want to tell my husband, but I noticed that if there was steamed vegetable for supper, there'd be vegetable quiche for breakfast the following morning. Food repurposing. So, are we eating fresh food? The beach, oh, the beach situation! The early bird gets the worm. Get up before 6, head to the beach OF THE NEIGHBORING HOTEL (nope, we didn't have a beach!) and reserve a beach chair by draping a towel on it. EVERYDAY! A chore while on vacation, yeah, sign me up! Merely hours before arriving, my husband noticed that they didn't give us a key to the safe, this after he talked to front desk that we needed a safe. He called and was rudely asked "Well, did you ask for a key?" Erm, wouldn't that be a given? He tells you he needs a safe, that means you should give him a key, otherwise, it's not a very safe safe then, is it? Duh! Oh, and Royal Decameron Montego Beach, please don't call your hotel an all inclusive resort if you run out of ice-cream or if your guests end up buying beer (beer!) outside of your premises because your capacity is only 1 tiny can per 20 guests! These people paid for all inclusive (including beer!). And towels in the rooms, which you seem to run out of as well. Mind you, not everything was below 1 star. Some of the staff are friendly, and their evening performances are entertaining. Unfortunately, these weren't enough to entice us to recommend this resort to anyone.

Grand Decameron Panama: Met Expectations

It’s not the most luxurious resort I’ve been to, but I didn’t expect it to be. it was advertised as a 4 star and it is a 4 star (maybe 3.9). The buffet food was OK. Restaurants were good. Resort is large and lots of stairs. Room was a bit tired but clean and functional and the AC worked. It was what I expected it to be and therefore I wasn’t surprised or disappointed.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: We had a great vacation.

We have vacationed at Decameron Los Cocos many times. This was our best experience yet. Our room was fine with a comfortable bed, good pillows, and was clean. Cleaning staff did a good job. Mobility issues were taken into consideration and we were given a room in the in the best location for us. We had a room right beside a pool and my wife used it daily - sometimes twice. The pool was warmer than in previous years. The menu had been changed and food was good. We could always find things [... read more] we liked. As usual, Flora was cheerful and made great omelettes, with a large variety of ingredients to choose from. Flora remembered us from previous vacations, and was very welcoming. At The Tropical, the restaurant we regularly ate at, all staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jose and Reyna. Not all staff spoke extremely fluent English, but many were trying to improve their English skills. We never had trouble communicating our needs. All staff and management people were very friendly and helpful. The beach was great and the ocean water was very warm. We felt safe and comfortable walking around Guayabitos. The weather was excellent every day. We required help with mobility needs, and West Jet service at the airports, and in the planes was excellent. We look forward to returning next winter.

Very Mexican. Sprawling resort with many places to have quiet and many places to go and explore. Staff were very pleasant and helpful to us. Food choices were many and always available. There were many Canadian people and many Mexican families as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the hotel. Rooms were good sized and always well looked after. Thanks Elisa! Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron

The Royal Decameron did not disappoint. We had stayed there 10 years ago for several years in a row and then switched it up for other areas of Mexico. Being back felt like home. The resort is so clean, the staff are bar none the best, and food and drink were even better than I remember. Such an easy going atmosphere, great pools and great beach access. Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Very low value for money. High disappointment.

Was not expecting much and was disappointed by how poor the experience was overall. There was not 1 single aspect of this resort that stood out or was anything higher than just acceptable. Very poor quality product offered and wish I would have spent my money elsewhere.

Would not recommend this resort. There was never a good selection/variety of food and the rooms were very basic. Could not adjust the thermostat in room, no face cloths, and 1 bottle of water in your fridge was all they provided. Unless you have some knowledge of Spanish or can communicate in Spanish, this is not the place to vacation. Evening shows and most poolside activities were all in Spanish. Had a better experience in Cuba for a lot less $$$. This trip has renewed my faith in Mexico vacations. We were almost at the point of not ever going there again. The rooms were functional and comfortable. The buffet was adequately stocked.The exterior was pristine. Very clean and constantly being tended.The staff was friendly and helpful. The only compaints we have, is because the flight was late leaving Edmonton, we arrived at the hotel at 11:30 at night. The resort was very dark and the person who met us spoke no Englsh. We had to carry all  [... read more]our bags about 1 block to the room. Normally, this would not be an issue,but I am currently waiting to have surgery on my back. The second issue was in the booking of our bus to return to the airport. We were given the time of 4:45 pm. I checked this 2 days before departure. Was reassured that was the correct time.we did all the checkout jobs and waited at the area we were told to wait. At 3:20 a bus arrived. We were asked if this was our bus. Of course I said no. We finally had to be taxied to the airport at 5:00 pm,which was comped by Sunwing. Over all,we were very pleased with the vacation.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: A Long Two Weeks :-(

The best thing about this resort was the beach and the pool. But, there was a serious lack of beach/pool area chairs. A few arguments broke out amongst guests. Additionally, some people had chairs reserved with their towels both at the pool area and the beach area. Good luck finding something after 7am. There was no swim up bar at the pool but rather a bar adjacent to the pool. Nowhere in the entire resort were there servers asking if you would like something to drink so everyone wanting so [... read more]mething had to self serve at the bars. The beer was from DR, Presedente, served mostly in cheap plastic cups, occasionally in a mug, and on a few occasions in a paper cup. There was some Red Stripe on tap on a few rare occasions. For the most part Presedente was our only choice and we found it not to be tasteful. Wine from the bar in the lobby came in a plastic cup on a few occasions. Unacceptable in my opinion. Our room (1323) on the third floor was, in our view, in a poor state of repair: the bathroom light/fan combination was very loud when turned on. We reported it to the front desk but nothing was done about it. The room ceiling fan was effective, but a bit noisy. The AC did work well but we used it little as it was noisy. There were no patio screen doors so leaving the sliding door open wasn't viable. The room entry door was in poor repair as only one of the two keys we were given worked and the door knob lock was flimsy and loose. There was no security device on the door and there were several holes where perhaps a chain once was. The locking door knob needed larger screws in order to be tightened. The clock in the room didn't work at all. The rainfall shower had minimal pressure, but there was hot water. Baseboards were covered with dirt. The beds (2) were clean and comfortable. There were no drawers just a couple of shelves in the closet area. The room safe worked well. All in all the room wasn't the greatest. I don't think the floors were washed any time the two weeks we were there. That said, the housekeeping staff straightened up the room daily, left water and beer and made sure we had clean bathroom towels every three days or so. The sheets were changed three times. Throughout our stay we left tips on the bed when we wanted fresh towels and the sheets changed. There is one buffet and one a la carte restaurant at the Cornwall Beach side. We ate at the a la carte a couple of times and the salmon was very good. The beef tenderloin was tough and I ate little of it. The buffet was a buffet and as such the food was repetitious, sometimes okay. Morning breakfast was mixed fare and warming trays were no warmer than that. I usually had an omelette (made to order) with some fresh fruit and some bread product of sorts. On a couple of occasions, I was able to snag three slices of bacon from a warming tray. What there was of it was quickly gone. The meals at lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant okay as there was a good selection. Jerk chicken, jerk pork and roast beef were quite common daily along with some kind of fish and vegetables, pasta and rice. We were there for two weeks as I mentioned so we did our best to mix things up to create a bit of a variety. There was some great musical entertainment and dancers in the lobby/bar area near the buffet on a nightly basis which usually started around 7pm or so. There was also some form of entertainment on the Montego Bay side which we enjoyed a couple of evenings. Lots of fun to be had at both. This was my second trip to Jamaica and this resort didn't even come close to where I stayed the first time so I was disappointed given the two week cost of $6,700 for the two of us. Rated at four stars, it didn't live up to it as I have stayed at several four star resorts over the years and found the amenities far better elsewhere. Maintenance for even the most fundamental things was lacking. The fact that there were no servers walking around bar areas, being served poor quality beer in either a plastic or paper cup diminishes the credibility of "four stars." We tipped quite generously in USD even at the bars we queued up to, restaurant servers and housekeeping. Bottom line: we made the best of it as we were simply happy to be together in the sun and away from Ottawa. Would we go back? No! Would we recommend this resort to others? No!

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Good location

Was not a good experience. People smoked everywhere and I just could not get away from the cigarettes and marijuana scent...had to talk to management as one weekend our room had the smell of marijuana coming through the vent -front desk came up, admitted the to the odor, sprayed with lysol but then I had to be out of the room again. Few times my husband and I sat on the balcony but I had to return inside to get away from the cigarette smell coming from the adjoining balcony. Due to this situat [... read more]ion I had headaches for the most part of my two weeks. On the other hand it is a beautiful place, but if you have allergies like I do, you're not going to enjoy yourself. I couldn't stay around the pool long, neither the beach, neither my balcony -and for that Saturday night I had a mask on in the bedroom occupied by myself and husband who does not smoke. The food could be better, was often times short of spoons, but the worst is the health implications.

Really like this resort. Although the resort itself is showing its age, it is spacious, kept clean and the staff is friendly. The pools close a little to early, six for most (seven in unit six). The buffets are not super elaborate but have a good selection. The food at the buffets should be kept a lot warmer the soups etc were often rather lukewarm Had a good time overall. People who have been there before will notice changes.

The grounds at the Royal Decameron were beautiful! The pools fabulous! The buffet good. The A-la-cart restaurant, needs work have to give this part a 0 of 10. Rooms require updating! We had a great time here resort (3 weeks) Also the price you pay reflects acceptance of the room condition.

Decameron La Marina: decameron la marina

This resort was very crowded and noisy. The property is small and there isn't any green space. The design with the hotel on 3 sides of the pool resulted in noise (as well as Karaoke) bouncing off the walls. There was no place that was quiet. Staff had very limited ability to speak English. The a la carte reservation process was unorganized and only 10 people per day were allowed to reserve.

The staff were very helpful and the grounds were immaculate. The pool areas were well kept too. The entertainment was consistently good. We will most likely return again. The staff were bilingual so it as easy to communicate with them.

This was our first time at the Decameron and we went with lower expectations from reading the reviews and we had a lovely time! In our estimation it is a 3.5 star and that's ok if you go in knowing that. Food was good - always able to find something to eat at the buffets. A la carte restaurants were good also and yes the process to get reservations is crazy but we were able to get in to all of them. Room - large rooms- adequate, yes old but comfortable and cleaning staff cleaned well, no elevators in block 4 so lots of stair climbing but quiet block and close to everything. Able to get wifi off and on around complex. New safes in rooms now. Beach- waves were rough and not swimmable, a croc was spotted one day so no swimming that day. Sand beach was slanted so hard to walk on except when low tide was out then flatter. Always able to find a beach chair at the beach. Lifeguards were well trained and worked hard. Loved the sunshine, warmth and relaxing. Activities- enough going on for our older age group but not a young persons vibe. Night shows were good and entertaining- The host did an amazing job speaking in both English and Spanish and was quite humorous. Thoroughly enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of staff and guests - met many other couples mostly from Canada. Gorgeous sunsets. Did 3 day trips- PV, Buceries - 30 min walk one way, Sayulita - local bus cost $2.50US each way-30 min ride and was easy to catch and a lovely town to visit. Highly recommend going to Sayulita.

Decameron La Marina: Enjoyable trip

Very clean, rooms , dining areas clean , pool and bars too. Very hospitable friendly staff. Helpful and eager to help when needed. We also liked the sister hotel los cocos that we could visit as well. Positive experience meeting many visiting mexican tourists from various parts of Mexico. Beach area was great . Liked the hotel backed on to a town that we could explore and shop and experience the culture .. would go back !!

Decameron Isla Coral: I’m sorry but people need to know.how bad it really is

I’m sorry but people need to know This “resort” is pure garbage , if you are considering going there DO NOT GO Bed bugs (two separate nights ) and no other room was offered to move too they simply shrugged their shoulders like it was normal . Brand new clothing items disappeared from my room mysteriously , and when I suggested maybe it got caught up in the bedsheets for cleaning they just no , The food is the other resorts leftover I’m sure of it But if you like all your food served from  [... read more]soup lidl And the “meat “ cooked so long it’s almost dusty this might be the place for you . They said it was in Puerto Vallarta when I booked turns out an hour and a half outside of Puerto Vallarta that would’ve been nice to know. There are zero activities plan at this place. They have a ping-pong table and you can rent some bikes, but once the sun goes down, there is nothing the whole place shuts down other places I have activities and things you can do to engage their guests. These guys could care less . I normally when I go to Puerto Vallarta to the main resorts, people speaking English or they understand it at least, but here was a massive language barrier, which nobody tells you about you think you’re going to your normal Puerto Vallarta why would you think otherwise? I will say that there were some outstanding staff members there, Jamie and Evaristo at the front entrance they were very professional and kind and knowledgeable , Angelica and the other “restaurant “ staff were so kind and helpful even. And then last but definitely not least Agustin and is fellow bartenders were super people , very kind and fun .ALL THESE EMPLOYEES NEED A RAISE!!! I spoke with 6 different couples at the resort who were so mad about the conditions but Once Decameron resorts get your money they will only be around to steal from your rooms and make the worst food you will ever be served . Oh and they think regular cut up hotdogs are bacon THEY ARE NOT You have to go eat off resort to find bacon . THE 4.3 “Rating “ on Google is fabricated . I will dedicate my life and let all of my 7000 employees across Canada how terrible Decameron isle coral really is . I spent good money to go on a much needed vacation and added up stress g about bugs on me at night while having an empty stomach You guys could be so much better if you actually valued your customers . I cannot stress this enough . Shame on you isle coral for destroying people much needed vacations . Decameron La Marina: Small and noisy

Resort is small with the pool in the middle. Pool is crowded and loud. No were to escape the loud music played by resort and loud karaoke at night. The food was good at the buffet but the al la carte was unorganized and difficult to get into.
