Riu Palace Aquarelle: Riu Palace Aquarelle

When we went to the Riu Palace Aquarelle (Jan 30 - Feb 13), we were not sure what to expect following the re-opening after the hurricane. When we arrived, we saw that was still some visible damage to the property, but nothing to lessen the experience of the resort. We did see that the resorts next door were trashed and will not be open for awhile. The room was spacious and clean with a balcony. The bar fridge was stocked daily and the cleaning staff did an excellent job of cleaning. The bu [... read more]ffet was very good with plenty of options, we were able to find something different almost everyday. The serving crew did a good job attending to your needs. Overall the al-a-carte were just ok at best, the Asian was by far the best of the four. The pools were nice with plenty of chairs and shaded areas. It was never a problem finding a spot. The beach also had shaded areas and plenty of chairs however parts of the beach was washed away from the storm. There was also significant amounts of seaweed that washed ashore, however the grounds crew tried very hard to keep the beach clean The entertainment crew did an great job keeping people busy during the day and the dance shows at night were good. The Michael Jackson tribute show was the best. The only negative about the entertainment was that at times things got a little loud around the pool or at night. Overall all the staff that we met were extremely friendly. I found that it was amazing that some of the staff were able to remember your name after meeting you once. Our expectations were exceeded and would recommend to anyone considering visiting Jamaica to spend their time here. We always like exploring different area/countries, however this is one that we would return to in the future.

Riu Republica: OK resort

This Riu had very nice grounds. The beach area was beautiful. We were disappointed in the cleanliness of the rooms. This hotel needs updating. Very old. The pools areas were nice. Food was OK. Entertainment was so so. We have been to 2 other Riu's that we were very happy with. This one, not do much.

Riu Guanacaste: another great stay

The RIU Guanacaste has been extensively renovated since our stay in January 2025. The reception area is lovely, the decor is light and clean throughout. The food was fine, the staff friendly and the overall experience was great.

Riu Tequila: Review – RIU Tequila, Playacar (Stayed February 2026)

We stayed at RIU Tequila in February 2026 and were very pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the resort for the price. The grounds are beautiful, well-kept, and have a lively, fun atmosphere. Our room was modern and nicely updated in black, red, and white tones. Housekeeping was excellent—very thorough cleaning every day, and the towel figurines were a cute and thoughtful touch. Food was abundant and good quality. The selection was on the simpler side, but everything was fresh and t [... read more]asty, and we never had trouble finding something we liked. The wine was surprisingly good, and the in-room alcohol dispensers and well-stocked minibar (beer and soft drinks) were convenient, even though we are not big drinkers. The hotel is not directly on the beach, but it’s just a short, pleasant walk through the grounds. There were plenty of beach chairs and towels available, and no need to wake up early to reserve spots. The beach restaurant was great, and the fresh fruit selection was a highlight for me. We had a small issue at check-in—the toilet wasn’t working properly—but we reported it to the front desk and it was fixed quickly and professionally, which really impressed us. The RIU Party was epic! We attended the White Party and it was one of the best resort parties we’ve experienced—fun, energetic, and comparable to a quality nightclub atmosphere. Overall, we were very impressed with the value, service, and quality of food and facilities. We would definitely return. Playacar itself is wonderful—safe, perfect for long walks, and very convenient with nearby markets, shops, pharmacies, and even a Starbucks.

Riu Palace Baja California: A very relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful time! Food was very good, no issues finding seating at the buffet. Poolside chairs and finding shade was abundant. I wish pool chairs were padded for more comfort. Rooms were one of the best we’ve had, recently renovated. Karla and Javier were some of the nicest hotel staff we’ve ever encountered! Cafe is a fantastic addition, with varying treats available throughout the day. The specialty restaurants do not have a reservation system, and honestly that is fine.  [... read more] They would be better off having set seating times than a wait list.

Riu Ocho Rios: Pleasantly surprised

My experience at the Riu (Ochi Rios) was amazing. The staff were wonderful, the food was awesome and the cleanliness was top notch (staff was CONSTANTLY cleaning). We were at this resort for Super-bowl Sunday and what an event they gave us .. Thank you to all the staff for making this an awesome event. My ONLY suggestion would be to have the seaweed cleaned up a little better on the beach.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing resort

The resort was huge but amazing. After one day you could get around faster. The rooms are a bit out of date, but apparently Reno’s are happening soon. The food and pools are great. I will definitely return!!!!

Riu Playa Blanca: Disappointing!

Only 3 à la carte restaurants. Food too salty in all 3. No reservation system in place so long line ups. Quiet pool (adult) was impossible to get lounges. Despite there being a rule of no reserving before 7 a.m., they were reserved by 5:30 a.m. No poolside bar service or wait staff in lobby bar. Hit and miss getting Chardonnay in any of bars/restaurants and no Pinot Grigio at all. Adult entertainment started after children’s entertainment at 9 p.m. Only one area designated for entertainment [... read more] (other than beach) so no music or entertainment in lobby bar. Only one bank of elevators so in a hotel that is shaped like a U, if your at one of the end sections, you have to either go up/down multiple floors of stairs or walk along endless hallways to get to elevators so wouldn’t recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

Riu Palace Mexico: Best Resort Ever

The Rui Palace Mexico is an excellent resort. The beach is beautiful with loads of chairs. A little seaweed once in awhile but there were large areas where water was clear. The waiter brings a tray of drinks while you are lounging on the beach with alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. The food is terrific. Tons of selection. Love that the breakfast is open til 11 am. The a la cartes are great, no reservations required. The entertainment is very good. We loved the layout of the hotel.  [... read more] Areas are broken up into smaller rooms so it's not crazy noisy with a lot of people in one area. Service is great and place is spotless. They are always cleaning something. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious - beds are very comfortable. Staff come in 2-3 times a day to make up beds, load the fridge and coffee stations, turn down the bed in the evening. It was great to be able to tour the other Riu's. Playa del Carmen is walkable and it was fun to explore 5th. Ave. Always felt safe. Security at hotel was great as well. We look forward to returning next year.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort!

This resort was beautiful. Everything was so clean. The food was great. The room was very spacious and well laid out. Staff was friendly. Pools were beautiful. The beach was exceptional! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.

Riu Palace Aquarelle: Beautiful resort!

This is such a beautiful resort, the grounds and views are breathtaking. Our room was beautiful, we had a great view of the ocean. Bathroom was fully stocked with everything you need, including full size shampoo and conditioner, body soap and lotion. The mini fridge was restocked daily. The TV was a little confusing to use. The house keeping was fabulous. She even made us a towel swan. Room severice was great, i do wish they offered coffee after 10:30 am though. The entertainment was out of this [... read more] world. They work hard and put so much effort into a perfect performance. They even have thier very own Mrs. Rachel lol Riuland. We played bingo every night. The host the first few days was absolutely hilarious. The waiters/servers were friendly. I did find some of them to be tip hungry but that was only a few of them. The bartenders were great and made amazing drinks. They are definitely not shy with the alcohol haha. The buffet was absolutely amazing. They definitely know how to cook, with new varietals everyday. I did find booking with the restaurants a bit hard as they open reservations at midnight the day before. I managed to get a booking at the steakhouse but I never received an email confirmation therefore we weren't able to go. The next day I got a survey asking how the dinner was, so I clearly booked it. The pools were nice but cold, not heated at all. It didn't help that we went the week of the cold front and it was already cold outside so getting into the pool was hard already. They play lots of games for adults and kids to. The beach was beautiful. There was lots of seaweed when we arrived but the next day the workers were out at 5 am cleaning it up. They do this daily, and the beach looks beautiful all day. The water was super warm. I do suggest wearing water shoes as there are some rocks that get washed up. The only thing I can complain about was the weather and because of the weather we were kinda bored at times because again we couldn't bring ourselves to tan on the beach or swim in the pool or use the water slides as it was way to cold outside and in the pools. We will Definitely be returning and I will definitely recommend this resort to everyone I know. 5 stars hands down

Riu Latino: Amazing Resort!

Everything about this resort was great! Service was excellent, we were always greeted with a smile from everyone on staff & our room was cleaned everyday in a timely manner. Food was also very good and fresh in all restaurants including the pool café. Bartenders were quick and efficient! Our only issue (minor) was the lighting of the restaurants and lobby bar at night...way too bright! Highly recommend staying here and we would definitely return!

Riu Palace Aquarelle: Not quite a palace but great

The hotel was very clean and very large. The rooms were exceptional and we had a wonderful view of the pools and the oceans. The food was great at the buffet and at the specialty restaurants, although we did get to try only 2 because of the app which did not work all the time but we did eat a lot.any way, so it was not missed. Entertainment staff tried their best during bad weather, to provide indoor entertainment during the day.. We were happy about that.

Riu Montego Bay: Just OK

The good. Resort is nice and clean. Service was great everywhere. Food was good The bad. Pools did not match pictures at all. They were small and most likely full of urine. Beach looks ok but water is mostly gross and ocean floor mushy.

Riu Republica: Good Facility - Mediocre Service

This resort had a very good variety of services. The room looked a bit dated and needed some real attention when it came to the washroom and air conditioner. I would not say requests for missing towels and blankets were looked after in a timely manner. For the majority of our time there we cleaned our own table at the buffet before using it. Some of the items on the menu at the restaurants were not as advertised. The Japanese restaurant was our favourite.

Riu Santa Fe: Amazing resort!

Husband and I loved everything about this place. Food and service was excellent. Only negative was our proximity to the RIU Parties that took place every other night.....otherwise location of our room was convenient for buffet, pool and beach! Highly recommend!

Riu Flamingos: Amazing Resort!

Excellent vacation at RIU Jalisco! Great swimming beach, the walks through the sand are beautiful while the sunsets. Food; best buffet I’ve had in Mexico, awesome service, fun nightly entertainment, and the Friday RIU Neon Party was a blast. Highly recommend!This newly renovated Rui was a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing or active vacation!

Riu Guanacaste: fabulous resort

grounds are clean and well kept. There are lots of places for shade and sun. Pools are divided well so that no one crowds another and everyone can access the water. Every afternoon there was some fun and games around the pools. Evening entertainment was various. We were at the family resort so usually between 8 & 9pm there was children activities but afterwards was music, live local bands, trivia and the bar opened. 5 restaurants give varied food choices. 3 of them had outside as well as  [... read more]inside seating. Lots of places to sit and gather. Excursions were also available.

Riu Latino: Great resort!

This resort is very clean and well kept. The rooms are spacious and bright. All public areas are in good shape and the washrooms by the pools and public areas are always being cleaned. The food in the buffet is fresh and there is quite a variety (although sometimes it's not as hot as it could be). The a la cartes could be a bit better. Service was slow at times for some tables and not others and the food was OK but not great. Nightly entertainment was enjoyable. The beach is beautiful.  [... read more] This is an adult resort and there was a mix of all ages. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a flight issue (totally unrelated to the resort) and the front desk was very accommodating in letting us use their phone and helping out with Spanish translation.
