Fun time at Aguas

Lots of improvement at this hotel . Great food . Service was great . Management on site for the entire time we were there. We had lobster on 3 occasions . Maid service was slow . Lots Improvement needed in the public washrooms .

Very basic as tu get for investisement

Basic installations, same eating as basic and nothing better at restaurant ( better before five years ago) need to improvise at bouffet to have great lunch, drinks and shows wery apreciated, animators helping to have great playing times durings brakes times, take care about rainning days to planified outside attraction, nice beach and sports areas...be ready to enjoy and just do it !

Beautiful Resort

Good value for the money, lots of food choices in the Cafeteria, Friendly Staff and beautiful pools, i can go back again. Met a lot of people from different Parts of the world, the location was excellent, you don't need to walk too much to get to the beach and its near Varadero Downtown

Reduce Star rating

this hotel was bad, they say 3 1/2 try 1 star construction happening , hotel major leak in roof, the beach staff and and the pool staff are loaded on the alchool more than the visitors, they are sitting there flirting with wives and drinking , the life gaurds are drunk, every one is on the make expecting heavey tips, I was assultated when i came back from town and the security expected a tip to handle the problem, want to keep your selfe and family safe stay away, there is bugs that are biting e [... read more]very one they dont spray, the managers are not able to comunicate with you if you try to tell them theres a problem. cant belive i did not leave, i was scared not of persons at night coming off the beach but from the staff, take a lot of bug spray and lotts of money for tips, grounds around bungals are dirty with trash, never seen them clean any thing other tha with a old rag, no bleach what so ever, staff hanging all over the girls, they offer prostitution for money that is the staff , dont bring family if you are expecting a good time, this resort is bad, there were so many bugs that you better look to fumeagate your lugage when you return change the star rating and bring you own body gaurd I cant say enough about the bad place this is, watch out bad bad bad........

Good time

My daughters and I found that it was a great place to get away from our everyday life, free our minds and relax. The pool area was well kept and at times very peaceful, having two distingue pool areas was great. We loved the beach area and activities such as volleyball, dancing etc… being offered for our enjoyment. The night entertainment was also great, we loved the dancing; and the entertainment staff, made you feel welcome and were quick to include you in the fun. The disco could have been  [... read more]better; the music seemed to be the same night after night. I would suggest a mix of music genre to get more people out and dancing. The rooms were clean, in need of some repair, but, we loved it just the same. The cleaning staff, were very pleasant and accommodating. The food, was good by me, my daughters thought that there was not enough choice, I was just glad I didn't have to make it, so a hit as far as I am concerned. I serving staff, once again, were very pleasant, responsive and accommodating. Overall experience was very good.

Club Amigos: You get what you pay for

Myself and some friends were able to get this hotel for a week through $650 all inclusive, so we didnt expect anything fancy for that type of deal. Here are some things I think are worth mentioning 1. The resort itself: Sort of run down looking, A.C was not working in places like the bar and buffet making a lot of these places intolerable for a Canadian in mid-August. Although they dont hesitate to beg for clothes and tips. As much as I didnt mind giving some of the staff my unwanted belongings because I knew they would need it more than I, a couple days in I felt bad because I literally could not give away anymore things. A friend I was travelling with spoke Spanish, and we came quick to realizing you get treated better for knowing the language. For instance, my non-Spanish speaking friend asked for a cheese sandwich because he cant eat meat. The server working at the snack bar said this was not doable and that he could only get one with ham. Our Spanish speaking friend asked moments later and got exactly what my English speaking friend wanted. This was definitely offputting considering you expect the same service regardless. Besides this instance the staff were very nice and socialable. 3. The food: Once again I wasnt expecting anything fancy. The food was okay, I didnt starve on the trip and thats all that really matters. Options for vegetarians are slim, most Cubans love their meat and dont care if your vegetables come in contact with it. But if you arent restricted to vegetables and fruits you should be fine 4. The beach: Most amazing beach ive ever swam in. Water is very calm from the morning till later afternoon. The water is clear and not too salty. If you go in the summer you will find many times that you will be one of the only people on the beach.

Quite awful if you don't speak Spanish

They were entirely unwilling to help us with absolutely anything until our friend we went with spoke Spanish to them. They didn't assist us in anything. Everything closed at 3-4 pm even though the site said they close at 5. A lot of the things that said we're offered were not, though that i sunwings fault, not club amigo. The staff were too busy hitting on all the pretty Spanish ladies. They didn't bother to acknowledge us at all. If the buffet is not open, good luck getting any food. For a midn [... read more]ight snack they made ham.and cheese sandwiches, as a vegetarian that isn't acceptable so I asked for a cheese sandwich and they said that wasn't possible to make. But again, when my spanish-speaking friend went to ask they were more than happy to assist her and make her some vegetarian option. You get what you paid for but the fact that the staff were so unable to help us because we spoke English was ridiculous. Had we not been there with a friend who spoke Spanish, we would've gotten nothing we wanted. It's pathetic. We all pay the same amount to be there but no one would assist us in anything. Try another hotel where people may care more.

Good and bad

Our room was great, we had a bungalow that was a two second walk to the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. our only issue was the food, I travel to Cuba multipe times a year so I know what to expect. My family struggled to find things they enjoyed. Perhaps it would of been different it the Buffett had better air conditioning as well as air flow.

Less than my expectations

This was my 26th trip to Cuba. 2nd time in Varadero. I am used to 3-3.5 star hotels so i think i had reasonable expectations. The food was lack lustre. I will eat anything and I LOVE cuban food. But I was sick of having the exact same meal for lunch and dinner for a week. Breakfast was fine. And i dont each much so im good with fruit, juice and some sweets, no complaints about breakfast. The pool was almost 100f and filled with Cubans who never left the pool to use the washroom facilities so I avoided it att all cost. The beach was beautiful and the water calm and about 88f, perfect. And we generally had no one else around us. Had the beach to ourselves from 8am till 9:30 everyday. Not one vendor on the beach either. Pleasant surprise! Activities staff were friendly but dont do much. We are used to playing games all afternoon but there was nothing to do. It was far too hot anyway but still, im used to more to do. I was fairly bored most of the time. And with the amount of Cubans in the hotel, activities seemed more geared towards appeasing them so my limited spanish was not enough to keep me in the loop of what was going on. The nightly shows were "ok". One show (michael jackson tribute)was awesome but that was it. The disco was too hot to stay in for more than 20-30 minutes. Overall i liked being in the bungalow for its close proximity to the beach and pool. But its way too long a walk to the dining room or to get a coffee. Not sure why the property is so large. There seems to be a lot of unused but developed real estate on the property that just makes for long hot walks to get anywhere. Not enough shade on the walk ways. If it had rained at any point, you would be drenched trying to get anywhere. Overall not impressed with this hotel. Other than friendly staff and a clean room. Had read that ants/cockroaches were an issue so came prepared. Brought a can of Raid and eradicated both on the first night and never saw anymore after that.

Book a bungalow

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this resort. I have now stated in both the bungalow and the hotel room. The bungalow has way more room. Okay so the water pressure isn't great and at 6:00pm there was no hot water. Was it the end of the world know. Did wAter go on the floor/ put towels down. The washrooms were clean , the maid service top notch. Be friend a local. They are all nice and all of them will say hello to you. The gardener was always making the place lovely. The bartenders, they w [... read more]ere all nice. They will go out of there way to make something you like. The good / just okay,, I never went hungry, there was always something to eat.

Amazing Beach !!!

Beautiful and mature landscaping and an amazing beach. Hotel shows it's age and is in need of a facelift and TLC. House keeping staff were wonderful. Front desk staff were not overly helpful and did not see any sign of management. Use EXTREAM CAUTION when getting money exchanged because staff would charge an additional "Fee" on top of the posted exchange rate.

Under construction

Not very appealing to a guest. We were upgraded to Tuxpan resort by the Suwing Agen. The new location, Tuxpan, was slitely better. However, my expectation might have been set abit too high. Ive heard there are lots of nice places.

Horrible stay :(

No hot water, barely any selection of food, room was full of bugs, resort was mainly filled with Cubans, staff would only speak english if you tipped or gave them something.. We went not expecting much and thats definitely what we got, less than our moneys worth to go for sure. My boyfriend and I aren't picky and it's a good thing cause most other people would have packed up and found another resort to go to. If for some crazy reason you choose this resort, only get a bungalow or suite.

Exactly what I needed!

Gorgeous white sand beach, clean and comfortable room, perfect! The weather was beautiful. Lovely customer service, very friendly. Extremely pleased with my beautiful choice of vacation. A1 memories!!

Everything goes down better with rum

The food was definitely the biggest downfall. We attended a wedding during our stay at another hotel and it proved that not all food is bad in cuba only if u stay at a 3 star. Another con was the Cubans that came to stay there. They were very rude and a fist fight almost broke out in the buffet over beef. During the week it was alot quieter and enjoyable. I found the staff surprisingly more friendly and willing to chat it up with guests as apposed to the higher end hotel I visited. I didn't feel obligated to tip all the time and still received good service from 95% of the staff. If your a princess and need to sit on a throne spend the money and stay elsewhere. If your like me and ditching work and kids for a week is a vacation in itself, endless amounts of rum makes anything a good time.

Good value for the price we paid!

The resort was older and could use a lot of up grading! A lot of the resort was not even being used which was very sad! The food was on par with other resorts in Cuba other then the fact that there was no variety. We had the exact same menu for the duration of our stay. The staff at the resort were awesome!! That being said we would have no problem returning to this resort for the right price!

Excelent

Super location,close to nice beach, clean green area,friendly staff, tasty good food. Swiming pools wery clin , safety boxes schould be free of chargé, nice ambicius entertiment , gym needs aircondition

Relaxing Resort

We were very happy with our bungalow it was well situated between the pool & beach. The room was well maintained, our maid Laura was surperb. The buffet was a little sparse for the first few days, there were a few times we had to wait for clean plates & food to be replenished, and it seemed like they were understaffed. By mid-week there was a definite improvement. It was a good value.

Good for the money

Food was good, hotel clean, friendly employees, beautiful beach, was pleased with everything. Being a 3 star it meet what I expected. The pools where good, the Italian a la carte was amazing. Cuban was good. I like to eat outside and I thought the buffet could have an outdoor area to eat would have been nice.

Much Better Resort Than Expected

The staff were very friendly and eager to please; the grounds were well kept and really nicely laid out; the beach was absolutely stunning; the food was quite adequate with many options and breakfast very nice; service overall was very good especially if you provide tips on a regular basis. Our room was more than adequate as everything worked from the TV to the shower and cleaned every day with fresh towels and fresh bottled water. We provided our maids with small gifts each day and each day the [... read more] fresh towels were arranged on the bed in very artistic ways. Finally the Cuban people we deal with when in this country are friendly and mostly speak whatever language is required; and above all we always feel safe.
