Disappointed

Hotel is showing its age, my room was musty and in need of makeover. We were staying in the villas which are larger and supposedly newer. Food was average except in the seafood restaurant, where we had special returning guests lunch (Betty was wonderful and gave our group extra attention). Bugs were bitting so make sure to pack bug spray. Was surprised we had to purchase our own bottled water. Was disappointed overall, but will try diffrent resort next time.

Amazing resort

This is our third visit to Brisas Guardalavaca and we would certainly visit again. The staff are so friendly and courteous. They never pass by without a Hello or stop to talk. When we arrived the Reception area at the Hotel was under construction and finished before we left. The new area is amazing, the new Lobby Bar is excellent and bright the new furniture also adds brightness to the area. The first floor has been completed and the rooms are bright and clean. The second floor is almost  [... read more]completed as well and looking amazing. We stayed on the third floor and were not too disturbed with it. They worked mostly is the day and we were not in our room. The Villa lobby was open along with the bar at the Villa lobby which was nice because it was just one more place to go to have a great drink and meet more people. We attended a Marriage Blessing with friends from England and the service was beautiful and the area was beautifully decorated.Then to the Seafood Restaurant for a lovely reception. This was a wonderful evening. Our weather this time was not great but we all managed to have a tan when we left. I have visited several resorts in Cuba and find that Brisas is one of the most clean resorts I have seen. Washrooms all over the resort are so very clean. One complaint I do have is in the snack bar area by the pool the birds are always dropping little gifts on people and no matter where you sit under the roof it happens. Not sure if this has a solution but it would be nice. Staff does what it can to keep the table and chairs clean. Staying in the hotel is most convenient for my husband as he has trouble walking and finds the elevator (which allows us to stay on any floor) most helpful. The closeness of the pool and the beach he likes as well. This is a great place to stay and will hopefully return again.

Amazing resort, been here 5 times now.

This resort is very very clean, they have made many improvements. Always ready to help you. The staff are amazing , the rooms are getting improvements. The lobby was under construction when we arrived but its wasn't a problem. By a couple of days it was completed and beautiful . They added a new lobby bar . All in all would come back in a heart beat. Great value for my money. Love love this resort and everything about it.

Lovely resort

We have been at this resort before and we love it there. People there are absolutely amazing. It’s not perfect and I don’t expect anything in Cuba is. We had some problems with the room, but nothing what would affect my great time. Cuban time, manana, just go with the wind. We will be back. Love Brisas Guardalavaca

Friendly Resort

Hola Well kept ground, well groom trees, brush ect. little geckos running around, tile very slippery when wet pool clean and perfect temp, games to play entertainment all the time but still enough space to enjoy quite time ocean few weeds but the beach sand was clean and warm, buffet had a large choice to eat and the a la carte restaurant were very good attractions must do fishing and bay adventure boat tour/ safari Cerveza always cold and near by

Now that a vacation !

from one to ten, it is a 9 ( it was a pleasant surprise ) we did not inspected the food to be that good. The bedroom ac work great, the room are clean, easy access to all the resort, many lawn chairs on the beach with security personnel close by.

Awesome time

the food was good,plentiful great selection , staff was awesome, we had a standard room with view of the mountains the room cleaner she was great there is 4 elavators but only 1 was working the buffet had a really good selection for each meal there is a little pizza snack bar Roberto makes awesome little pizza we tried 3 ala carte resturants 2 were not the greatest but the seafood 1 was really good there is a little market a short walk away had lots of hand crafted things over all great exsperi [... read more]ence and we are planning to return in april for a 10 day stay

Great holiday

Beautiful beach, nice pool with lots of different entertainment each night! Friendly staff! Food was alright and only one type of beer but overall a fair amount of options. Would recommend for family and couples

As Expected

The resort is a solid 3 star. Rooms are old and worn. Food is satisfactory. You won’t starve but leave your healthy eating habits at home. They try hard. We arrived shortly after Hurricane Irma. Everything was cleaned up and working.

Was it worth extra dollars

This was my seventh trip to Cuba, the other six times i stayed at Club Amigo Guardalavaca which was okay for a bunch of guys. One time in January 2017 my wife and I stayed at Rio de Oro-Paradiso which was definitely 5 star. Brisas is one step up from Club Amigo. hotel rooms very small, Villas much bigger and nicer - was not advised of this option. A little more variety in food but then Cuba is not known for great food I would probably stay at this hotel if the guys went all together again  [... read more]but would stay in Villa.

Wonderful Staff!

My family and I had an amazing time at Brisis Guardalavaca. The staff definitely go above and beyond, especially in the dining area. We met so many sweet employees and if we do return to Brisas it is because of them! The room was big and adequate, not the most comfortable beds however no different than anywhere else I've stayed in Cuba. The beds are however king size and not double beds pushed together. The grounds were beautiful and the resort is massive. Advise: our villa was good treck to the main building, so be prepared to walk or make sure you request villa 9 which would be much closer. The beach, spotless and plenty of loungers (a bit tricky to get shade, but always managed to find some) It was a wonderful family vacation and the kids were treated so well by the staff. Very family friendly resort!

Loved our vacation

I love this hotel as it is spread out across the ocean instead of having a narrow piece of property penetrating inland. It is the perfect hotel for anyone who struggles with walking like myself requiring a hip replacement. Everything is within a close proximity. Whoever designed this hotel I think did a great job. Few mosquitos which was a bonus. Lots to do. The ocean was absolutely breathtaking, calm with a fine white sand beach, lots of shade. Lots to do from water sports perspective. [... read more] Although I did not find snorkelling directly out front, if you ask your beach team at the hut to the right of the hotel, they will take you around the bend to a fabulous reef. It is worth paying the small amount of money as Junior took his time showing us the reef, diving down taking pictures with our camera. It was great. Last year we did it three times because we enjoyed it so much. They have a great entertainment team who keeps those who wish to be kept busy from early morning to late at night. I commend the Acts they brought in to sing inside the hotel. Cuba has talent, great guitar player, outstanding singers, violin and piano player. After they finished their sets the house band would provide Cuban music followed by some other kind of entertainment. The design of the hotel makes it very inviting to meet people and have a good time for all ages. It was a British holiday so there were a lot of kids which we seen but have to admit they were really good, being kept occupied. Our room was nice overlooking the ocean, a breathtaking view. Our maid did a great job as well as the gardeners who were never-ending keeping the resort manicured. School kids in Cuba had Environmental day. They descended on our beach with garbage bags looking for anything that was not environmentally friendly. I am not sure they got much as the hotel keeps the grounds clean. Now for the food. Although each restaurant attempted to present there food in a pleasant manner, I think there could be an improvement. It is often said that Cuban food is never good. In a sense they are right. They have the food, they know how to present the food, I think they just need some good recipes to make the food taste really good. On saying that, we never went hungry and were never ill which is a good thing. I think people have to keep in mind that when we vacation in Cuba, we are not paying top dollar so how much of a budget is there for the food part of our vacation. My advise to the hotel is to relook at the recipes being used in the kitchen. Also the bake stuff was often stale so not sure if it was sitting out too long or whether they reused it over a couple of days. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it and certainly plan to return next year. This says a lot as we prefer a cruising vacation where there is great entertainment and outstanding food. This has been an alternative for the past two springs which means we did not cruise in the spring these past two years. That says something. Great job, look forward to returning. Judy Dulovic

Amazing resort!

This hotel was amazing. Its located right on the beach, staff was accommodating and friendly, and food wasn't that bad. There was always something to do whether if it was to sit and relax or to be active. 100% recommend

Always a great time at Beautiful Brisas

Wow where do I begin! First off the hotel is looking amazing lots of new upgrades to the grounds looks beautiful new tables & chairs even umbrellas, 1st floor rooms are newly renovated looks great! Al lacartes were great, food was good, I personally don't go for the food lol currently they are renovating 34 of the hotel rooms I believe new bathrooms included, nightly entertainment was good, always welcoming faces at Brisas, our home away from home! Fun in The Sun

Had an ocean view room on the top floor. The view was spectacular. The staff is great. The food passes. Paddle boats adn kayaks are available. I was there when 150 Touris Industry people attended.. Brisdas put on a great show for those people. Left London ON at 12 noon SUnday; arrived at Brisas at 2AM Monday. Left Brisas at noon Thursday, arrived home at 4 am Friday. I would go to Brisas Guardalavaca again, but with different transportation.

Another amazing week at Brisas Guaralavaca, Holguin, Cuba

You will not be disappointed staying at this resort. This was our 3rd visit. The main buffet has a good assortment of protein (fish, chicken, beef, pork, rabbit, turkey) vegetables, fruit, breads, rice, sweets, ice cream and so much more with every meal. There is a stir fry station and a pasta station, with a chef at both preparing your very own meal request. You have to sample their red tomato based sauce....soooooo yummy. Very clean, roomy, lots of hot water and close to the pool and pool bar.(take note they do not have face clothes) I pack a puff. There is also a smaller buffet for breakfast in the villa section as well as 4 bars (one is very near the beach) and a convenience store that has everything that you may have forgotten to pack. (shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste,beach towels, souveniers, booze, water, fruit drinks, sun screen, flip flops, hats, blow up floaties and diapers for the little ones).. and much more. The night time entertainment was good. There is a donut station and ice cream parlour that is opened from noon-4pm everyday. (Don't pass them up, you're on vacation live a little) These are located near the 5 storey hotel and 24 hour bar. The ocean was so warm. You wanted to stay in the whole day. We took foam pool noodles. They were nice to float around with. They fit perfect inside the outer edge of your suitcase and weigh nothing. We gave the noodles to a family before we left. Try the paddle boats and kayaks too. They are free to use. The water wasn't rough so they were very easy to navigate. The Canadian dollar exchanged at .70 cents, therefore we lost $30.00 per hundred. There was a small market at the very end of our street. Lots of vendors. They allow you to browse without any pressure. In closing I'd like to say that this resort is entirely wheelchair accessible. A nice resort

I found the staff very nice except the reception desk, not too helpful nor good English. We were told the second day there that a towel was missing from the first day we arrived. There were only 3 towels and she said 4. It did get resolved but upsetting both for us and the cleaning lady. We had no plugs for the bathtub nor any hot water a few times and we had to get them to fix the shower as that didn't work a few times either.. The food was good, the pizza great. Milk was warm never cold. Th [... read more]e tour guide on the bus going to the hotel was great. He made sure all luggage was there and that we got checked in ok. The guide going back to airport not so good, I needed help as I lost my Cuba visa and needed to get a new one - he didn't know what to do plus didn't help to which line we were to go in. We got into the wrong line and was going to Cancun. Over all we enjoyed the tours and had a great time.

Worst Day at Brisas is still better than the best day at work.

Another amazing vacation. So relaxing, which is what I needed. Didn't care that it was overcast and windy as ole heck the entire time I was there. It had been 7 years since my last visit to Brisas... the changes are major improvements. The a la carte restaurants - Cuban, International and Buchanero were fantabulous. No shortage in food choices and for first time - I gained weight on a visit and it wasn't from drinking. It's a special kind of customer service. I will keep going back any chance I can get... as long as Westjet offers the vacation.

Great hotel amazing resort

This hotel is amazing to stay at the staff is friendly and the place is clean. The outside area is always being clean and ground keepers are friendly and some are very talented in making things out of leaves. The pool is always has thing going on and is very clean.

A reliable resort that makes you feel home.

Had a great time at Brisas. This was our 5th visit. The food was great, with great service. I would definitely consider returning in the future. We had a relaxing vacation. The resort is doing the best to keep the facility looking great and provide lots of great food choices and unique entertainment in the evenings.
