Friendly staff most of whom speak excellent English.
This is an older resort but they are always working to maintain it. Unfortunately, the roof of the buffet leaked the day we arrived which resulted in it being closed for several days with food being prepared and served on the pool deck.
Rooms were clean but basic. Our room had an air conditioning unit that was either on or off with no temperature controls. Apparently this is not the case in every room.
Good variety of food, but somewhat [... read more]limited options for vegan.
While there are not supposed to be reservations at any of the a la-carte restaurants, one night at the Bluewater Grill there was a number of tables that had been reserved through the lobby and this resulted in a number of people being turned away. When we requested to speak with a manager, a few tables were freed up. This is a definite inconsistency in policy. As well on both Christmas and New Year's Eve they were encouraging people to purchase bottles of wine which then meant that they would reserve a table for you.

Great time at Sunscapes Curaçao
I was at the resort in December with my family. It was a great resort. Small but friendly. The beach was clean and the rooms were a good size. I would definitely recommend this resort to others and I would come back again!

Favourite family holiday!
This is a fairly small resort, so you really get to know the staff. They definitely go above and beyond, to make you feel happy! The rooms were large and comfortable. There is enough variety in the food to please everybody.
It rained everyday, but only for a few minutes.
There is great shopping within walking distance at Mambo beach. Also the aquarium, is only a ten minute walk away from the resort. Sunscape also provides free shuttles to Willamstead. A must see is the swinging bridge!!
Th[... read more]e beach was our favourite part! The water is crystal clear! The snorkeling equipment is free, and very good quality. The variety of fish you see is breath taking!
We were a group of eight, family and friends. Our ages ranged from 19 to 56. We all had a fantastic time at Sunscape!

Awesome Vacation in Curacao!
We had an amazing time at this beautiful beachside resort in Curacao. Gorgeous beach with a reef just in front of the hotel provides the perfect snorkelling spot! Sunscape is within walking distance to boardwalk shops, other beaches and the aquarium. Onsite casino, rock climbing walls, archery, volleyball, batting cages, scuba, lawn games and more provide endless things to do. The rooms were very big, the service is impeccable, very clean and well maintained overall. Most importantly the coc[... read more]ktail menu is massive and of the many exotic Caribbean drinks we tried, all were fantastic!

Could be a nice resort
We visited Curacao from Dec 4-Dec11/16. This resort was rated 4*, but it was 3* all the way.
The rooms were clean, but very average. Our room wasn't cleaned until late afternoon every day and amenities were not replaced until we called.
The food was very repetitive at the buffet (it was brought out from the kitchen just warm and I didn't see anyone checking temperatures a single time during the week to make sure food was at a safe temperature). The a la carte restaurants were very slow in s[... read more]ervice and the food did not compare to other resorts that we have been to. The idea of "no reservations required" seemed like a great idea, but you had to get in line at least 1 hour ahead of opening time to assure a table. Maybe reservations would take less of your vacation time.
The weather was fantastic and the beach was great. Many more shaded areas are needed, as the few palapas are snatched up very early in the morning (prior to 6 am). Perhaps some umbrellas by the pool would help with that.
The hotel is in great need of an update. We had rain a couple of days and the roof of the buffet restaurant was so leaky, a lot of the tables were not useable. The staff did their best to accommodate guests, but, once you got a place to sit, there was no cutlery available until the tepid food from the buffet was cold. This is not a 4 star restaurant that I would recommend.

Two Stars is too much !
Curacao is a beautiful Island, the downtown was great, the people were very friendly downtown.
As for the Sunscape Resort it was my worst experience in 40 years of travelling, I will never fly Air Canada again or stay at a Sunscape Resort if it was free. The service level was zero, the food was very poor quality if you could find something to eat, the restaurants had no reservations and they tell you there is a slight waiting period, two to two and a half hours is not a slight waiting period[... read more] in my mind. We had numerous problems with our room from the beginning to the end, safe didn't work, no phone, no television, our fridge was to be filled daily it took three days for the first time to have it filled and they only brought water the second time of seven days, we had paid extra for the members package, when we asked to be moved they said the hotel was full, I know there were empty rooms available, they tell you on your last day when you pay extra that you can stay in your room till 3:00 pm we got to stay till 1:00pm and then they were at the door to escort us out. The grounds are tired and need to be refreshed. I was very disappointed with this trip and what we had paid.
The Air Canada representative did what she could but it didn't help much, the people in the room next to us demanded there money back and left the hotel after hours of conflict with the manager of the hotel as they were staying for two weeks.

Run down resort
I will start with the positive first: the snorkelling right off the beach was very nice because of the man-made wall that allowed beautiful fish to leave there and kept sharks at bay. The floating climbing raft was a lot of fun. It was nice to be able to paddle board and kayak within the protection of the wall because there were strong winds and sometimes currents that could have taken one to sea. the food at the buffet was delicious and the staff in the resort was pleasant. The excursions seeme[... read more]d fun; we had bad weather and quite a bit of rain during our stay so we could only do the Dune Buggy excursion which was a lot of fun and definitively worth the price.
The bad part was that the building where we stayed was really run down with sliding doors that were impossible to open (I broke a nail) and decor from the 80's. My bathroom ceiling leaked as soon as the rain started and even though I repeatedly complained to the front desk and was assure it was fixed, it never was fixed (I am quite certain the roof was leaking). On the 4th day I finally talked to a supervisor of maintenance who went and checked it out and said it was the A/C leaking ( I don't believe that) other guests complained about the same problem in that building. I had paid extra to have a bigger room and I definitely find I didn't got my money's worth, my friend's room that was smaller had a much better view and a much bigger balcony and a leak free bathroom.
The service was excruciatingly slow at the A La Carte Grill and the steak came grossly undercooked and had to be sent back, it would help if there were more than 2 cooks at that grill: we waited 2 hours for our food. The food at the Italian restaurant was very bland and boring, and not really Italian...
The music that plays throughout the whole resort was really bad elevator music which appears to be sang by the same singer in exactly the same beat, it was hard to hear really good songs be massacred that way. The musical entertainment every night was more of the same elevator music.

Not up to standards
The staff are courteous and respectful.
Registration was prompt.
Room assigned initially had mold and mildew black spots on wall where bed was.
Sink regurgitating backup debris required service. Shower stall, leaked water onto floor requiring bath towels wipe up, maintenance alerted. Safety deposit box malfunctions. Air conditioner malfunctioned
Assigned a second room, got a double bed rather than the king we ordered. Assigned a third room by our fourth day with a King bed, cleaner s[... read more]melling, a/c malfunctioned, safety deposit box malfunctioned. Sink backed up. The toilets flush amazing..
Caribbean sea gorgeous, felt like a pool, calm, no undertoe, encased with rockery, safe for all ages...Pools were warm temperature, pleasant well maintained...
There was however, enclosure to the shoreline. So we could not 'walk the sea'...there were boundaries in both directions, to the width of the resort.
Bars, not well stocked, ran out of rum, vodka, grand marnier, cranberry juice, mango juice. Room fridges, not stocked well. one of each pop, diet coke, coke, sprite, three beer, three water. One room had one beer, we called for more, we were told to wait to the next day, no one is there at night to deliver beverages.
Toilet paper was not replenished called for more...
Not enough bathrooms on grounds. If you are in a restaurant, you need to go to the pool area for the three washroom stalls...when it is raining as it was not too comfortable to step in puddles, and get wet despite umbrella use, to go to the bathroom. Each restaurant should have a washroom.
Kitchen: did not meet allergy requirements we told them about prior to arrival, Wheat and Dairy allergies.
Buffet had same food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all based with milk or flour.
No desserts available gluten free. For three days, we did have gluten free pancakes. but again, ran out of pancake mix and gluten free pasta that we had twice. It took 45 minutes to wait for the gluten free items to be prepared, and we had to locate Elvis or Jose to get these made.
Hamburgers had wheat crumbs...Jose said they can prepare 100% beef patties for us...They used pork ground meat and fried the burgers ...disgusting...
They offered lobster nite theme at outdoor grill, Friday, we arrived, were told that it is $40.00 for each lobster ordered...This was not indicated on the flyer they put in our door.
Their was a 2 hour line up each night for al a carte restaurant. First come first serve, people ate, lingered and were not asked to leave past their 1.5 hour time allowance. We were getting dinner at 9 pm. as the al a carte restaurants only accommodate about 40 people. There was a reunion of 84 people from USA and they dominated the two popular restaurants. Main dining hall was wet from rain we had 5 of 7 days...huts leaked puddles of waters onto ceramic tiles, needing attention by kitchen and serving staff to mop floors...
FLIES were all over the food, no coverings at buffet ...No lighting, and no fans, very hot and muggy and wet from rain leaks...therefore majority of people resorted to al a carts, one was enclosed (Italian) the Japanese accommodated 36 people, and two sittings per night only, the grill sat 40, slow service...
No carvery stations or meat variety. Always Mahi fish, beef or chicken. On American Thanksgiving there was a turkey carvery, only day, and no on was cutting it..People pulling turkey parts and using butter knife to cut the meat portions...
WiFi in foyer use only, was intermittently working. No use of phones in rooms despite them giving us the code.
Children activities abundant.
We feel this resort, appreciating it is not in North America...requires attention in the dining facilities, (enclosed) to deter pigeons from pooping on tables and cutlery, and the flies to remain outdoors not on foods..
Poor menu selection, same items lunch and dinner (meats)
Poor attention for consistency for allergies...Soy milk was there 3 of 7 days...
Water is from the tap, no perrier water or water bottles except for three in bar fridge.
Rooms need upgrading to clean mold and mildew, fix fridges that did not cool well, maintenance called for that too.
Highlight= Caribbean Sea, water fun, and Staff...

Yet Another great stay
We like going back for the amazing snorkeling. This year we were pleased with the dining choices. The food was excellent at all the restaurant but a little slow at the Italian. We had excellent steak at the grill and amazing salmon at the Oceanside. Weather was perfect as usual. Felt like home. Only way better. Love Norma at the pool bar. They all seemed to mean "it's a pleasure to serve you". Will return.

Nice and Hot
Place was well kept and the location was good. I would recommend this place.
Food was average nothing to write home about. The steak house restaurant on the beach was my favorite and ribs were great. They did have on a few days barbecue's which was nice for a change. The water was exceptional for snorkeling and swimming. and the staff was friendly, the only thing I didn't appreciate was them trying to sell time shares and the only restaurant that had air conditioning was for the time sharing s[... read more]taff to sell time shares instead of the customers.

Amazing Resort
This resort was amazing! The beach is just beautiful..the water warm and calm. The staff is friendly and very accommodating to anything you may ask of them. We did not run into one unhappy staff member. Our room was clean and restocked everyday with our favorite drinks. The buffet was very good. The Steak and Italian restaurants were my favorites as we ate at both of them twice. We got to the Seafood restaurant only once but it was also very good. Great Place!!
The room was super. The grounds, the staff and the service were exemplary. We would return for another week in a heartbeat. Our daughter got married there recently and from what I could tell, all the arrangements were spot on and the wedding as well as the reception went perfectly.

Omelet stations and bars require more people to work the grill and serve drinks. Gorgeous beach. Travel club seminars--too pushy. Entertainment is lack luster. Overall we would go back. The weather is always amazing!

10th Wedding Anniversary
This was our first time at Curacao and Sunscape resort. It was recommended by friends.
The Beach was beautiful and water clean and turquoise blue, with lots of fish swimming around! Great for snorkeling!
The resort is about 40 years old and needs major upgrades, such as installing screens on the balconies to prevent bugs from entering the rooms; removal of mildew in bathrooms, installing fans in bathrooms and upgrading beds and pillows due to musty smells.
Great entertainment staff [... read more]who would do anything to make the guest's stay enjoyable! Great cleaning staff who kept our room clean every day! Great management staff who accommodated our personal issues in timely manner and followed up with us to make sure all was OK.
The food was good but lacked variety and freshness - always hit and miss with same during breakfast, lunch or dinner at the buffet restaurant World Cafe. The best a la care restaurants were Oceana and Blue Water Grill! Great wait staff, as well as at the bars!
We didn't use the spa or casino, so can't comment on the customer service. A big bonus was having a nurse on the resort - we had to use the services of nurse Consuela and she was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and our son was very happy with her!
The temperatures were extremely hot, 34 c every day, with high humidity, no cool fronts and you constantly sweat, which was hard on our son.
We made the best of our stay, and would only return if management considers our suggestions for improvement of the resort.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this resort! It has a nice beach with a calm, enclosed swimming area. We enjoyed not having to make dinner reservations for any of the 4 a-la-carte restaurants (Italian, Tepenyaki, Seafood and Grill). If you arrived for dinner and the restaurant of your choice was full, they would give you a beeper to carry so you could go back to your room to relax or to the bar to have a drink. All the restaurants were very good. In particular, the steak at the grill was fant[... read more]astic and we liked the quiet beach setting of the seafood restaurant. We also liked having a coffee shop where you could order from a selection of hot and cold coffees at any time of the day. The resort staff were all very friendly and helpful. In particular, the manager Jose and "Johnny Rocket" of the event staff made the week even more enjoyable. The rooms are a bit older but they were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only negative was the spa which is extremely high in price ($149US for a 50 minute massage) and low in quality (I had the most gentle deep tissue massage I've ever had). Overall, we highly recommend this resort. Especially for couples looking for a quiet get-away or for families with young children.

Exceptional staff, great location
The Sunscape Curaco Resort is well situated on the island and arguably has the most attentive caring staff I've ever encountered at an all-inclusive. The meals were really good, I especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Service over-all on the resort is excellent. The rooms are nice, clean and large (I stayed in the tower), however, I would like to see an update of the bathroom. Again, I can't compliment the staff enough - their pleasant disposition, never tip-seeking (although I am a tip[... read more]per), and the genuine feeling you get that they are there solely to make your stay a pleasant one. I would return to this resort. Great value, lovely island, welcoming staff.

Creepy vacation
My wife, daughter and myself were looking forward to Curacao but upon our arrival were so disappointed. We stayed at the Sunscape
resort which looked and felt like subsidized housing. Our room was awful, the beach was Ok and the food was at best adequate. At that point we thought to make the best of it. Our second day we were made to feel so uncomfortable by one of the hotels security guards by his staring inappropriately at our eleven year old daughter. This man was going as far as c[... read more]ircling around her and looking up and down at her and trying to talk to her!! What a creep! When we asked him why he was doing this another security guard approached and made rude and disqusting remarks about our daughter then made threating gestures at me. We immediately complained to the general manager who had both security guards removed from the property after reviewing the survalance video. All we wanted to do at that point was to get back home but had to wait until Thursday to get out of there. We would never go back to the Curacao Sunscape Resort if you booked us a free trip!

Fantastic resort
Hotel was spotless everywhere staff was about the friendliest I've ever experienced and food was amazing no repeats in the buffet the alacarte were also great no reservations required and could visit as many times you wanted also the resort was close to all attractions the only negative review I would complain about was the wifi it was hit and miss and the lobby should have some ceiling fans for air movement
