Trip of a lifetime

For the first time in 30 years my husband and I took this trip and had the most amazing experience of our lives. Everything about this resort was top notch, from the service, food, entertainment, accommodations, pool and the beach. The staff of this resort were so friendly and helpful. I give this resort a 10 out of 10 and would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for everything Jodie and Gord From New Brunswick, Canada

Wonderful vacation!

The resort and vacation were overall amazing! We would definitely return! Great value for the dollar. This was my first time to Mexico and I was a bit anxious about getting sick from the food and water and about feeling safe. We stayed on the resort for the entire vacation (as we were only into R & R) and we always felt safe. I took advice from a friend and took 'travellers probiotics' and a shot of tequila everyday. Those two things, and the provided bottled water and amazing food, and I [... read more] wasn't sick once! Food: Absolutely no complaints and definitely 5 star. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were beyond plentiful, delicious and had a wide variety of choice. The servers waited on you 'hand and foot' for beverages and clearing. This resort allowed vacationers to go to as many 'a la cart' restaurants as they wanted for dinners. We went to 5 in all and the food was impeccably prepared, well presented and served in a friendly and high class way. We even were able to eat outside 2x with a table set up with all of the finest on the sand overlooking the water! We were able to choose from 2 'a la cart' menus. Wonderful experience! Beach: Problem with algae. Shore was a bit rocky. Would bring rubber beach shoes if I went again. Still, the beach was good. Water was wonderful and refreshing. Neat schools of fish to observe in the ocean if you have goggles. Pools: Amazing! 5 star! Plenty of lawn chairs in the sun and shade. Lots of pools. Never really felt crowded at all. There was an amazing 'infinity' pool designated for adults. It looked amazing but we never went in it because we had a young teenager. Drink service at the pool was excellent. Everyday towards dinner, a server came around with fresh fruit on a skewer. The pool we stayed at each day was quieter, and more suited for reading and relaxing. We were only disturbed one day by a group of 'drunks' including one who threw up in the pool towards the end of the day. A recommendation to the resort to make sure bartenders/security don't allow 'drunkenness' and to always keep one pool area quiet. Grounds: 5 star!! Immaculately maintained. It was like a park. Common areas: Super clean, spacious, lots of neat architectural and artistic features to look at. Rooms: Super clean, mini-bar and waters, soaps, towels always restocked. The comfortable beds were made up neat & tight like in the army (not easy to do). Air conditioner was controllable so room temperature was nice. Lots of TV stations in different languages. A good working safe in the closet to keep valuables. Large rooms. One recommendation to the hotel would be to try and limit the amount of times the staff went into the rooms. At the beginning of the vacation, I thought our room was being snooped in. I was worried about theft but nothing was taken. I let front desk know but no-one got back to me to explain. I soon figured there were different staff going into the room at different times to do different jobs. (Never saw that before.) Transfers/flights: Everything was well coordinated and pretty well stress free. Service: 5 star!! The vast majority of the staff were super friendly, helpful, efficient and always greeted us with an 'hola'. The food & drink servers, hostesses, table clearers were especially so kind and pampering. Amazing!

The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The food was delicious (so many options). The staff were friendly and helpful. We did however get served a bottle of wine at the seafood place and were only told after that it was from the wine list not the house wine, we were charged $35 for it.

AMAZING RESORT

We absolutely loved this resort. Our room was very clean and spacious. We had a little trouble with our air conditioning at the beginning, but we called and the staff arrived promptly to our room and fixed the problem perfectly. The grounds were beautiful, the food was spectacular and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help in any way possible. The pools and beach were stunning and restaurant service and poolside service was excellent.

Beautiful resort. Excellent Service. Well maintained. I recommend.

The grounds, amenities, food and drink were all top notch. The staff were probably the nicest I've ever had on a resort. My only issue was the mini fridge wasn't really up to snuff... but who cares really? I would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic Resort

It was a beautiful resort. We were treated like royalty. Very clean, great service, delicious food, great beach , amazing friendly staff. We would recommend it to anyone. We took two days off to go touring the area. Swam with the dolphins, visited the Mayan Ruins, went snorkeling and swam through the underground tunnels. It was all amazing. Made our visit even more special.

Coming back again

wonderful spot for a vacation. The accommodations were clean, the staff friendly and accommodating. The buffets and specialty restaurants all had a great selection. My friends and I plan on going back.

Great time!

We had a great time at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the food was good. Loved the infinity pool. We had a few minor problems with our room that were taken care of right away. We would definitely return to this resort in the future.

Great resort

The food, pools, lobby and the grounds were very good. The rooms were definitely not 5 star. We were originally given what I would rate a 3 star and after requesting another room, we were given a 4 star room. We had signed up for a 5 star room. We did not get the room that was shown on the hotels website.

Nice clean

Large resort on a beautiful property good food ..lots of restaurants to choose from...nice water frontage...miss the waves with the man made beach....some rocky areas but nice for s water bug like myself.....good service and a prompt electric car service to move one around if u don't want to walk....first class and amazing pools....very clean

Perfect Vacation!

The resort grounds were so perfect! The service and food were excellent! The beach was so crystal clear and beautiful! A shout out to Alejandro from the Dolce Vita restaurant who went above and beyond and Gerardo from Alux for making our dining experiences just perfect! Thank you to all the staff and the managers who paid visits to ask what else they could do to make our stay more enjoyable. Fun at the Akumal Principe

Excellent vacation. Awesome view of the ocean at the pools, walking, eating. Super staff. Very good service, polite and friendly. Fantastic food. Lots of pools. Rooms in good shape. Buildings exterior needs a little painting. All in all, excellent.

Amazing place to vacation.

Hotels are keeped very clean, food was awesome full of flavour and colour. Pools keeped very clean. Tram drivers are awesome. Eddie took us to Tulim, and had us laughing all the way. Shopping on site no need to go anywhere, snorkelling not very far away at Akumel beach. Rooms were clean and very well laid out. Lots of wild life to look at on the grounds. Felt very safe there. We would definitely book an other vacation here.

Be careful with what you eat

The resort is beautiful, but it is not 5 star. I got food poison on day 2, my two kids ( 16 and 21) also had some stomachache problem. The food is underwhelming. The room is musky and bed is damp. The entertainment is good though. The service is pretty good for the most part. We had an excellent Butler, his name is Armando. He took care of us while we were not well, brought us champagne, candle ,essential oil and a dehumidifier.

Best trip yet

Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal is the best resort we have been to. The place is gorgeous and clean and staff are amazing. We didn’t have to ask for anything, they were asking us. Customer service above and beyond. And yes the food was amazing as well. 1-5 rating a 5+++ And thank you Tanya Smith for helping us with this.

Awesome resort!

This resort is a foodie’s paradise! The resort was clean and the staff were eager to please. They made my stay very comfortable. The special touch in my room to help me celebrate my birthday was very touching! I felt safe Had a great time and would dedenitly go back!

We had a very nice time!

House wines were much better than last year, which was our only real complaint at that time. Food was excellent and a good selection of bar stock - could maybe expand on rum selections though. Our room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed spending each day at the "solo adultos" beach with fantastic weather. Resort staff do a great job cleaning up the seemingly never ending seaweed deposits each day. A la carte restaurants were excellent - our favourites are Arlequin (gourmet) and the Japane [... read more]se restaurant at Sian Khan. Too bad we often weren't able to finish the generous portions. We will look forward to coming back again. One pretty minor complaint - please put more wall hooks in rooms/bathrooms for towels, toiletry bags, etc.

Amazing resort and service!

Everything was so clean and very well maintained. We have recommended this resort to all of our family and friends! We will be booking some more time at this resort in the near future! Food was absolutely amazing. Hard to find in a lot of resorts. Very accommodating. Beautiful views on every corner of this resort!

Not a ‘LUXURY’ hotel

The room/bathroom very dated, in need of major updating. Unable to swim at the beach as the water is just at waist level. - many thanks to Esther Fitz at the front desk. Very nice staff, always smiling and working hard. Grounds very well kept This is definitely not a “Luxury” nor a “five stars” hotel.

Dream Vacation

The Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal met our every expectation. The impeccable grounds, the amazing service, the lovely pools and the calm ocean lagoon all contributed to a wonderfully restful week.
