Great

resort was great ,but water pesurre very very poor & toilet would not flush ,water leak from the ceiling down on vanity ,but maids were great.pool & food was good as well as other staff, theunit was always clean,.

Beautiful Vacation !

This was our first time in Cuba and despite all the reviews we read beforehand, we were pleasantly surprised at how well everything went! The hotel was beautiful , the resort was always kept clean and our room was awesome ! There was entertainment eeet night and always somethin to do during the day ! The only 2 things I could complain about was the amount of no see ums and the food was just average. Other than that we had an excellent stay ! Another concern we had that didn't have to do with cub [... read more]a, but the park n fly in Toronto, was that we had to pay way more thennnn advertised. we were sent a coupon that said park n fly for the week would be 60 dollars but when it came time to pay and after we entered the coupon code it charged us 90 dollars which we were not happy about. But other than that everything was amazing and we were surprised at how easy everything was ! thank you :)

No Hot Water

Food mediocre, no hot water for all but one morning, getting bottle water took some effort. Other than the front desk the staff was friendly. Beaches were nice. Mostly an elderly crowd when I was there.

Excellent resort

Overall the resort is clean & reasonable requirements for health, hygiene, safety & security are met. Lot of professional entertainment is available with activities throughout day & evening. Good quality & variety food. Drinks are really unlimited. All employees are courteous. Resort & beach is clean & continuously maintained.

Lots to do

Rooms were clean. Good maid service. A-LA- Carte, excellent. Pools excellent. Buffet good. Lots to drink. Very helpful at front desk. Take bug spray. Good entertainment. Love the ice cream house. Everyone was very friendly.

Great Spot but Major renovations needed

This is a jewel in Cuba, however the resort structure has been sadly ignored. The rooms are spacious, and the resort is well laid out, however while there there were power interuptions, plumbing problems and the buildings themselves have holes on the outside facade. Needs painting and fixing. We could see workers everywhere, but hopefully they are not just doing patch jobs. The beach is terrific with lots of lounge chairs and shade for all. They have a wonderful Japanese restaurant, however the Italian restaurant was horrible. All 3 of us ended up sick after eating there. The entertainment was the best I have seen in Cuba and all the staff friendly and helpful. I hope this resort is restored to its potential, then it would be gorgeous. Until then I will not be returning.

Friendly Hotel!

This Hotel's grounds are clean and beautiful, the room is clean and simple but needs to have some updates in the bathroom. The food is ok, but the a la carts where fantastic. The staff is wonderful! I felt extremely safe there. The bar's there are all extremely accommodating, even when we have had enough. We where never bothered to go do excursions. Public washrooms are ok but could use some updating. For the money, you get what you pay for.

Great place to relax

nice clean service ok. food excellent, beaches are clean service at the beach and at the pool very enjoyable, good idea. Workers are friendly helpful, easy going people. The shows are great very professional. we had a great time.

Very Good Resort

Clean, great service, good food, friendly staff, excellent beach and very good pool. Very good weather as well close to airport, great location. Excursions were plentiful to chose from. Cave disco was interesting.

Nice small resort with great potential

The resort is under renovation so areas of grounds are dug up and a few areas with litter that patrons should be responsible for like drink cups,straws etc. Our room was a good size for three and the bathroom was big and clean. Towels both beach and room were scarce but we were supplied. Some patrons seemed to have trouble with water and electricity but we did not. Mike and George at the small pool and lobby bars are wonderful guys always happy and friendly. All staff were friendly from gardeners to managers. The small pool was lovely and always hardly used, there was no shade there though so could be hot. The beach was a very short walk and is awesome.Lounge chairs plentiful at beach and pools Evening shows, saw two and not bad, the watershow was an amazing synchronized ballet. Piano bar in lobby was excellent with Poppa playing the piano with singers one night, the lobby had musical entertainment for an hour each night which the lobby cat seemed to enjoy from his perch on the back of a chair each night. We took a taxi (arranged from the tourist desk ) for a 30peso 15 min ride to Lenny's Bar and grill. A fabulous beach bar on the ocean and in the middle of nowhere, the guys singing and playing music were good and the seafood special lunch was fantastic.. the biggest lobster tail ever, shrimp and fish with rice and salad all for 15 pesos. we went at lunch time but it is open till evening. Don't bother with the double decker bus... we thought it would give us a tour of the island and scenery but no, it goes along narrow roads through the bushes to a small market that was under renovation so only about 10 stalls of the usual tourist trinkets and then we had to wait 1 1/2hrs for the bus to come back, may be better when renos finished. We had a great time and I think the resort has great potential when renos are finished and the water and electrical issues are resolved.. didn't spoil our holiday though! would recommend realizing that it is a pretty good deal for the prices we pay and the sea, sun and sand cannot be beat!

Great Holiday

This is our fifth trip to Cuba and our first to Hotel Playa Coca. The food was the best I have had in Cuba, the beach was wonderful! The rooms were a little tired but we were only there to shower, change and sleep.There was a problem with plumbing but not enough to be a real headache. The Japanese a la cart was the best I have ever been to in Cuba. Only saw two shows but the Micheal Jackson was awesome! Good value for a cheap getaway

Playa coco was good value for the money spent. What they lacked in with uncomfortable beddings and pillows they made up for with the great food and stunning beaches. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and great weather. We had a few slight issues with our first room but soon had it changed without questioning. The rooms are dated but are soon to be renovated. The food was fantastic. Better that a 5 star I stayed at in Varadero. We had plenty if fresh food to choose from. I loved the grilling stations. They always had plenty of varying seafood options, as well as beef, chicken and pork. There were plenty of salads, cold meats and cheese to choose from too. Breakfast was excellent as well. The beach was stunning, absolutely perfect. The colour of the water was gorgeous. It was so blue and turquoise. We walked the beach and sandbars everyday and found plenty of fish and shells along our way. The beach made everything worth while. The pool area was a nice escape for a windy beach day but I perfered the beautiful beach. The grounds were well kept and the staff were generally friendly. They always seemed willing to chat, especially if you tried your best to speak spanish. It was always a great icebreaker. As this resort completes it's renovations, I have no doubt it will be even that much better for accomadations. I would love to go back. It's great value for what we spent.

Shocking

Took the family for a holiday...... an d we had to move rooms because of the mold on the ceiling..... food was what you would expect....... The pics on the site must of came from when the place was first built, there is no way that they are current... no water pressure, toilets do not flush and the cleaning lady comes twice a week four and a half star NO WAY..... grounds have tripping hazards all over the resort and you'll be lucky if anything works like the hot tub..... will not be returning to [... read more] Cuba again..... good luck

Amazing Place

everything seemed clean and inviting, the beach was not crowded and clean, staff were friendly and helpful. I have recommended to my family for family vacation next year. I was looking for a quaint quiet place and that is what we got.

Playa Hotel caya coco

I found that the room smell moldy tho they were clean could use new pillows beds were ok .There wasn't clean towels everyday .We had to asked for coffee and water three times out of seven days .Patio door did not work well and did not lock .The grounds were neat as I could see they were working to improve .The food was ok but after three days you grew tired of it could change it up a little .The staff was very good I did enjoy myself and the weather was great , We did enjoy that it was a smaller [... read more] place only took a couple of days to settle in If you are not too fuzzy I would recommend this place .The beach was lovely and lots of lounge chairs .

Great beaches

This resort wad satisfactory, clean, and safe the food was decent (Japanese a la carte) was simply amazing. The hotel staff were cucourteous and very helpful. The entertainment staff were energetic. Not too busy at a resort, didn't have to wait too long for food or drink. Booked a catamaran excursion one day which was canceled due to windy conditions. We promptly received a full refund. Best part was the beaches. Gorgeous white sand, not a rock in site. No shortage of beach chairs. No real c [... read more]omplaints whatsoever.

Great resort

Excellent staff all over. Great dining room service and food, including a-la-carte restaurants. Absolutely enjoyable beach. Great entertainment, including the piano-bar. Lovely rooms. Negatives: tennis court under long-term repair; shower water was lukewarm.

Not happy

We were put to iberostar mojito instead of hotel playa coco because they were over booked did not like mojito very small beach we couldn't get a lounge chair at the pool there was none available. Went to the front desk and asked if they could get us lounge chairs by the pool because they were all taken and the lady at the desk said there were no more and just shrugged her shoulders very very disappointed

So-so Resort for the money !!

Rated as a 4+ star, but that might have been when it was built many years ago. Front staff not friendly at all, at least one was very RUDE.. No hot water in rooms - was lucky to get a couple of days of slightly warm water in the morning. Only provided 2 bath towels and 2 beach towels to last the WHOLE WEEK !! - claimed to be an issue with the cleaning company so we were stuck using the same towel over and over again. Luckily we didn't get dirty !!. Staff was very slow at looking after us, takes  [... read more]about 10 minutes to get a drink served if they even came around to ask you - most of the time we went to the bar to get it ourselves. Excellent place for the value, courteous Staff

We really enjoyed staying at this resort. We felt very safe and found the staff to be extremely kind and helpful. It is an excellent place for the value. A great family oriented resort. The hotel is making further improvement in the rooms which is great. The resort was recommended by our friends who have been going there for several years.
