Awesome resort

We were impressed by the high quality of the food, best we had ever had while travelling south. The whole resort was clean and impeccable, housekeepers were friendly and efficient. All staff were really pleasant and helpful. The beach was great. We upgraded to "Privilege" and it was worth every penny. The only part we disliked was the pressure tactics by the H10 Sales group; they are to be avoided. We would go back there for sure.

We had a great time !

We just got back Jan 2019 and both my husband and I were sick in bed vomitting for 12 hours but that can happen anywhere. Everything else was good. The beach is not great as the lounging area is built up and not exactly on the beach front, you can however easily walk the Bavaro Beach and swimming was great. I loved that the restaurants and entertainment area is away from the beach and sheltered from the wind. It made sitting out on the patios very enjoyable. We enjoyed all the restaurants. We up [... read more]graded to privlege and probably didn’t really use it as much as could have. The buffet are great with lots of variety. Overall we were happy with our vacation. We probably wouldn’t go back only because we want to try other places.

Don’t Bother

The resort is situated in Bavaro. The beach is NOT nice. It has large man made sand banks to prevent weeds from reaching the beach. It is a narrow resort so the beach chairs are squeezed together. You can barely walk between the chairs /rows. The rooms smell very moldy. It it in need of a major renovation. The food is all prepared in advance “a la cafeteria style”. The gym is pathetic. The equipment is old and used. For example, The material on the work bench is all torn out; as are the mat [... read more]s. The treadmill is a cheap home version. In short go somewhere else. You can do better.

Ocean blue and sand

stayed one week nove 30 to dec 7th food amazing especially the specialty restaurants clean resort entertainment is constant and entertainment staff are amazing and funny the beach is small as on most resorts due to recent hurricanes but cant do much about that the room was old and not very nice but it was clean we requested ground floor when we arrived so we were moved at last minute and I don't think they normally rent this room because it is in building they are renovating but ren [... read more]ted it to us because only ground floor available so it is what it is overall excellent resort

Another Fun Time

We booked our trip to Ocean Blue and Sand thru Tracy at Trip Central, Dundas and everything went like clockwork as usual. This was our 18th visit to this hotel in the last 11 years and we will continue to go there as well as other places. The people who work at this hotel are so friendly and welcoming that we cannot stay away. The grounds of this hotel are immaculate and the two huge pools in the centre of the complex are maintained by several workers using snorkelling equipment who start at  [... read more]dawn every morning. The al a carte restaurants are great and it is so nice to have white tablecloths and napkins and be served by efficient and experienced wait staff. The entertainment staff is like no other. They will entertain you and keep you laughing from 10:00 a.m. until the night club closes at around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. Their goal is to make sure you have the time of your life and they succeed every time. The beach has seen better days, but because of the eco tubes they have installed to prevent any more erosion caused by global warming, it is improving considerably. Any seaweed is removed with machinery every morning. We are looking forward already to visit #19.

A Very Friendly, Comfortable Place

This is the third time I have been to this resort. The food is very good with a lot of variety. The staff is terrific -- very friendly and obliging. Could not be nicer. Some erosion to the beach, by all accounts. Primarily a resort for honeymooners, young families and middle-aged couples.

Wonderful experience!

Hotel rooms were basic but very clean. I even took the sheets off the bed to investigate the quality of the mattress and to my surprise it was brand new! Food was delicious, lots of variety. Pools were cleaned each morning, ocean was fun and they had breakers so the waves weren’t over powering.

Great Resort

The resort was just the right size, not to big and not to small. The buffet meals provided were very good and lots of choices. The restaurants besides the Japanese do not require or take a reservation so that was nice to be able to go when you wanted. They take turns being open, so just need to look at board to know. The Steak house we found to be the best and went 2 times. Mike's Café is amazing, just like walking into a Starbucks. Such a nice treat to have on a resort. The bars and selec [... read more]tion was excellent. Never been able to order a real Caesar drink in any other resorts, but here you could and they were made real good. They have 2 pools, one quite the other not so much. Always lots of loungers to use. We took advantage of the bowling and billiards and lots of fun. Beach was nice, not as big as used to but was able to walk for miles past other resorts if you wanted. We went with a group of 8 as we do every year. Making all 8 happy can be a challenge. In this case, all 8 would return to this resort. That is saying something.

Do it!!!

This resort is breathtakingly amazing! Upon entry we were greated by staff who kindly took our luggage and escorted us to registration which is refreshingly air conditioned. There we were served their Ocean Blue signature drink. We were provided our rooms and our wrist band. The Trolly took us to our building and our luggage was waiting for us. Highly suggest the fried pickles! Since we stayed 1 week, we had the opportunity to eat at all the restaurants and each one provided a unique experience along with great food and drink. The pools provided a lot of space to swim and float around in and swim up bars were always available. The beach had plenty of chairs and umbrellas available and of course a bar. The water was spectacular and the breakers helped calm down the waves. The entertainment staff were all so incredible and did a great job getting everyone to participate. We had beach Olympics, painting, cooking challenges, dance instructions, beach volleyball and much more. In the evening there was live entertainment in the lobby bar and in the theatre. The Michael Jackson tribute was by far my favorite evening event. There is so much more to see and do like excursions and parasailing which I will be back for! Best vacation so far!

Would return 10/10

We had an amazing week. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, fresh towels. The food was really good! I was thrilled about the food selection and service at every restaurant. Great beach, huge pools and never a fight for chairs or shade. My only complaint is the vendors they allow in with tables twice a week are extremely pushy and made us feel uncomfortable. We avoided going near them.

Nice and quiet!

The hotel its self is very nice...older but still kept it very clean. We went in October which is great because it's not packed and service is everywhere. Only cons... beach is short, and an upgrade to privilege isn't worth the costs. We were brought to a VIP breakfast on our first morning to which turned into "time share" type chat...60mins turned into 2.5hours. To which H10 wants you to get out a loan with them and travel within there resorts...ahhh no. Aside from that we'll more than lik [... read more]ely return to this resort. You can dine at all le carte restaurants without reservations if you'd like which is nice if you tired of buffet.

Above Average Resort

Here are the pros and cons of what I thought about the resort: Pros: - The grounds were well kept and maintained. - A nice selection of restaurants, especially the coffee shop. - Security presence on the beach. - Decent entertainment venues during the mornings, afternoons and evenings. - The room was clean. - The staff was very pleasant. Cons: - The beach was full of seaweed and the water was very cloudy and murky. It might be due to the time of the year. - The hair dryer was not  [... read more]working. I informed the concierge and he promised that it would be fixed. I was there for a week and it was never replaced or fixed. - The air conditioner wasn't working well. During the warm evening, I had to turn on the fan in order to compensate for the lack of efficiency from the air conditioner. - The concierge seemed to be only concern about selling me a time-share program. - The room was dated and really needs an upgrade. - The price of the excursions from the hotel and Nexus was too expensive compared to the outside operators. For example, the Saona excursion, the hotel quoted me $100 USD, Nexus quoted me $99 USD and the outside operator quoted $55 USD. Guess which option I went with?

Fabulous Resort

This resort is awesome. The grounds are very well looked after, rooms very clean, restaurants are excellent, entertainment staff are great. The staff were great.Pool is nice. We were close to the beach. Beach activities were fun. Went on one excursion to Saona Island but it was too long a day.There was too much climbing on and off boats as well. Other than the excursion I have no complaints. I am looking forward to going back to Ocean Blue and Sand.

Great Family friendly resort!

The grounds were well-kept, the employees were courteous, friendly and helpful. The pools were amazing and the amenities were great for the entire family. The grounds were large, with a frequent shuttle to take you from the front to the beach in minutes. The variety of restaurant options gave a different flavourful option each night, with the Japanese restaurant, only one requiring a reservation, the best. A wonderful family-friendly resort.

Ocean Blue and Sand

The room was far too small for 5 people, however the food was amazing, I would return if we were in a better suited room. The beach was okay, quite full of seaweed which can’t be helped as the tide was high. Very windy beach, the pool was great though.

Punta cana

Très amusant et beaucoup de programme à pour tout les soirs. On s'ennuie pas. La seule chose que je n'ai pas aimé, certains employés voulait qu'on va être membre de club et ils sont fatiguant parceque il nous laisse pas tranquille. En plus 2 soirée, le vendeurs locale ont amené leur marchandise à vendre et ils sont très dérangent, ils collent après nous.

A bit disappointing

1) Immediately on arrival we were warned by numerous guests(around 10 people) that rooms were being broken into and money stolen. We were told safes were being unlocked and items stolen, making it seem like hotel staff were involved. This immediately put us on edge and we were forced to hide our cash in our room and carry it on us as much as possible. 2) The atmosphere was great, resort was absolutely beautiful.. however there were quite a few things that took away from the beauty.. local ven [... read more]dors were EVERYWHERE. They were harassing you to buy excursions as you tried to enjoy a peaceful drink by the pool, they set up a marketplace at night in the main area beside the a la cartes.. they were very aggressive and didn’t let you walk but peacefully even if all you wanted to do was eat supper. I can understand the vendors on the beach trying to sell you stuff.. but on the actual resort was a bit obnoxious. 3) We weren’t there 12 hours before getting roped into a Premium member presentation with the promise of free stuff. They had us inside for 2-3 hours after telling us they would give us a 45 minute presentation and then give us a free welcome gift.. we were naive. 4) The beach... very disappointing in my opinion. It is pretty small but the absolute worst thing is the unbelievable amount of seaweed that you have to swim in. The resort next to us put in a net to keep the seaweed out.. something they should really consider.. the seaweed made swimming at the beach almost unbearable. 5) The food was amazing.. buffet always had great amounts of good food and the a la cartes were fun themed and delicious.. there were however certain times of the day where you were unlucky enough that all of the food places were closed. This is not something that should be acceptable.. the buffet shouldn’t be closed at all in my opinion. All in all not a bad resort.. but for a 5 star resort I was expecting a bit more

Very nice resort

Even thought this was a small resort, it was still very comfortable and having wifi throughout the resort was great , food was really good with lots of variety, rooms were nice although there was a lack of towels and stocking of mini bar was slacking. over all a very nice time was had and would recommend to friends

Perfectly Fabulous!

We visited OB&S for the first time this April. We are in our 50s and the guests were a very mixed age group which was great. We loved so many aspects of this resort -- the layout and access to everything was like a mini city; our room was very spacious, always stocked, and very clean; the grounds were well maintained and also very clean. Main buffet was really very, very good. The Marina buffet at the beach was very good, albeit repetitive, but we ate there every lunch because Juan Miguel's service was fabulous. We would highly recommend the Steakhouse for dinner - both their steak and chicken were delicious, the service was fantastic, and Joelle and her staff were a pleasure. Sensai Japenese was another great a la carte. The Sports Bar was the place to be during the week of our stay as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins were facing off in NHL playoffs. The Bartender in the Sports Bar (name escapes me) was overworked on those nites, but he managed to please, and on the quieter nites made sure we also had our drinks, without us even asking - he remembered each nite! Entertainment around the lobby was varied and entertaining. The pools, their bartenders, the activities, and the afternoon entertainment crew was energetic. One pool had the activities and the other was considered the "quite pool". We lounged at the quiet pool. There were plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas but getting up before 6:30am to put towels down is necessary if you want an umbrella. We didn't lounge on the beach, just walked each side and went in for dips in the ocean which was very nice, but a little merky. It was everything we wanted in a week's vacation. The only downside was the fact that numerous people had their safes broken into and management did absolutely nothing about it in the way of a resolution, almost blaming the victims for leaving money and passports in a locked safe. This needs to change. But for this fact, we had a fun and relaxing time with perfect weather and the best serving staff ever! We will return, and hopefully will not have to carry our valuables with us every moment!

3 star at best resort

From the moment I got there it was nothing like the site indicated we had substantial room the room smelt of mold was dirty maids need to be trained in cleanliness forget to leave towels pillow cases no pool towels no bath robs the mini bar was not filled like what was promised no extra blankets just two sheets the coffee cups were never changed unless u hunted them down we left plenty of tips never made a difference had to wait for bar service always!!
