Great resort

Hotel was great! Rooms were cleaned on time. Had 3 a la carte dinners and were very happy with. Buffet was buffet food nothing to special. Service was very good and people very helpful and friendly. Timeshare resort was full out on resort but we're not pushy at all if not interested. Very happy that we got to stay at Coba.

HOTEL IS NOT BAD, NOT GOOD ON SUMMER TIME, CEILING FAN IS NOT ENOUGH TO COOL THE ROOM. QUITE FAR FROM THE BEACH, NEED MORE TROLLEY, TO GO WHEREVER YOU WANT, WAITING FOR A RIDE IS TIME CONSUMING.

Amazing trip!

Hotel was very nice! Huge but lots of shuttles to take you around. Food was amazing! Definitely had the best food out of all the vacations I have been on. Even the 24 hour snack bar was great! Entertainment was good! Lots of games and activities for both adults and kids. I even got to learn how to make sushi! Hands on! The only down fall was the seaweed on the beach but it did clear up abit the last 2 days we were there. The pools were great! It was a great day trip! amazing trip and I would definitely recommended the resort.

Beaulieu

My husband and had a wonderful time from arriving to departure. We arrive at the Coba and after checking inn we discover are A/C wasn't working We called the front desk they sent a maintenance person Who called the front desk and told them the A/C was broken. The front desk spoke with my husband and explained that we would have to move room. We were upgraded to The Tulum. The hotel was fantastic including the food. We will be returning in the near future.

Wasnt all sunshine and rainbows

Food was fantastic, all water in the resort safe to drink. Did get sick upon return home though.. something I ate? Service was good, nice staff. Just don't ask for a water bottle... apparently they keep those under lock and key.. Not enough shade to go around.. be sure to get up at the crack of dawn to throw your towels on some lounges under the umbrellas.. "Contaminated beaches" means more seaweed than water, be careful not to get run over by the guy with the bobcat. Trolleys have d [... read more]estination signs.. yet they drive wherever they damn well please. Ask for "lobby coba" if you want to make it before you die of heat stroke Pool is more like a hot tub. In case you find 40 degrees chilly.. AC in your room is a godsend. Beautiful resort, housekeeping did a fantastic job. Heads up.. dont walk outside past 7pm. They turn the sprinklers on to water the grass.. using septic water. Those people having a candlelit dinner by the pool sure enjoyed that I'm sure..

Amazing Resort

Great Food, Great amenities... All the pools are great but The Akumal Adults only area was our favourite. Only 1 complain, our AC didn't wasn't cold enough, I don't know if it was because we were at the top floor or was just our room but it got pretty hot at night. The service was also the best.

SHOOTING AT THE BEACH / THEFT IN ROOM

As soon as we got to the Grand Bahia Principe Coba resort we had a bad vibe. The resort had a huge check in line with 120 people in it, 100 of which were Mexican locals coming in for day trips. Took us HOURS to check in! Staff are not so friendly, never smile. Food was mediocre. The beach was full of seaweed, and the pools were extremely warm to the point you didn’t want to go in them. We grabbed our bag and son and ran to our hotel lobby. The front desk staff did not care at all and just said OK. BLANK LOOK. We went to our room and we’re scared to leave for the remainder of the day. We we’re in building 27 room 32719 on Tuesday June 4th I noticed I couldn’t find some of my sons clothes and his brand new red shoes, not thinking much of it I decided to look for it later. Wednesday June 5th evening 6pm as I started packing to return home the next morning I notice my sons red shoes and MANY clothes are GONE. I went to the hotel lobby to file a complaint they did not care at all! Front desk / manager said they contacted lost and found nothing came up and called maid service if they “accidentally took it” and nothing. Of course nothing when THE MAID STOLE MY SONS SHOES AND CLOTHES. Furious, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone unless you want to be apart of a gun shoot out and have all your belongings stolen.

Amazing Trip!

Great Resort. Grounds were well groomed. Buffet and al lecarte restaurants were excellent with a wide range of choices even for the picky eater. Excursions were excellent with a wide choice to choose from. Overall an amazing trip.

Amazing Experience

Hotel was amazing. Hotel property was huge. Getting around you can use the trolley or walk to your destination. Grounds were well kept and beautiful. Food was amazing with great selections from seafood to meat and chicken. You can find food for even a picky eater. Entertainment could have been better. Pools were excellent with lots of room. I saw 4 pools not including kids pool. I do know that the Premium Club has their own pool. Didn’t go to beach as it was seaweed season, so stayed away  [... read more]from beach. Many fun excursions to do depending on your taste.

Nice

We traveled to this resort on May 21 2019 to May 28 2019. It was nice, beaches not the best, food was boring and the same everyday. A la cartes I can’t say because they were full every night and couldn’t get in. Staff was friendly and fun. Long drive from the airport and extras were pretty expensive. All in all I would say it was a 6 out of 10! Thank you for the experience.

Generally satisfied

First of all, this place is huge. They have some tiny trains to bring people here and there. From the coba, you need to take the train to get to the beach since it is quite far from the resort. Food was good and employees were friendly and helpful. Rooms were kept clean. We were generally satisfied with this place. But our major problem with this resort was the beach. If you are a beach lover and mostly spend your time there, i suggest to go somewhere else. It was one of the ugliest beach i [... read more] have seen in Mexico, not only because of the huge amount of seaweed which made the beach pratically unswimmable (we know this isnt their fault) but specially because of the breakwater they have installed which ruins the feeling of being on a real beach and feels like swimming in a lake. If i wanted to swim in a lake i would have stayed home since we have many lakes in Canada. The breakwater is so ugly we couldnd even take photos, we had to go somewhere else to take nice beach pictures as souvenirs. It ruined it for me. We stayed 14 days at the Coba and spent a total of 45 minutes on the beach our whole vacation. I do not recommend this place for beach and sea lovers.

Nice resort

The resort was very large but was well layed out. The food was fantastic. The rooms were cleaned daily but they did not do good cleaning of the floors. The pool was very dirty. The guy serving at the pool bar was fantastic and he should have had some help. The beach was terrible .... you could not use it for swimming due to the seaweed. They tried to clean it up but there was just too much. But having said all that, if is a nice resort and we enjoyed our vacation.

Great family resort

The resort area is huge, well maintained, very clean and groomed. What we liked it has a loot of greens, palm trees, bushes, you can find the shade anywhere. The transportation works really good, and staff a is very helpful and friendly. Anywhere we went we found a great service in this resort area. Kid’s waterpark is safe, being monitored by the life guards all the time, our son loved it! It will be great for kids up to age of 8-9 years old. The only issue is if you’d like to stay a while [... read more] then you have to reserve an umbrella much earlier, because a lot of people just come right in the morning and put their towels on the benches under the tents and umbrellas and leave. I guess, the staff can’t do anything about it. The beach of Coba was all covered with seaweed, which was very disappointing for us, as we are prefer the sea site and the beach. We had no access to the water, nor from Coba nor from Tulum hotel’s area. We went to Acumal hotel’s beach, which was clean for swimming and beach. But we couldn’t use their equipment. The buffets and a la carte restaurants were great, the food is really testy and has a lot of variety. You can find almost everything. I would definitely go back if the beach will be clean.

Fantastic Resort!

This was the first trip we took to Mexico and we are so glad we went! The Grand Bahia Principe Coba was amazing and the hotel staff were extremely friendly. The rooms were large and very clean! The fridge was restocked everyday with beverages and snacks which was great! The hotel was huge but we made it around on the shuttles to the neighboring hotels with ease. It was great that we had access to those properties as well as their restaurants, each hotel had something unique to offer. T [... read more]here were several pools that we visited which were awesome. We did go down to the beach however there was a lot of seaweed at the time which couldn't be helped. The crews worked really hard all day long clearing away the seaweed so that everyone could enjoy the beach. The dining was fabulous! We went to the buffet and they had every kind of food you could imagine. We really enjoyed our time at the Coba and would highly recommend this hotel. We plan on going back again next year!

Truly beautiful

Our family or 3, two adults and one 2 and half year old went to Coba mid-May. It was our first time going to Mexico and to an all-inclusive resort and we were amazed at how well-ran this place is and how everything is so convenient for us. I did about 2 weeks of intense research prior to booking this particular resort, on tripadvisor, speaking to coworkers, youtube, etc, and decided to try Coba. I have about 5 coworkers that have been to this very same resort, all with 1 or 2 small children a [... read more]nd every single one of them said excellent things about this place. The receptionist who was very friendly and patient at listening to a steaming traveler who was still wearing Canada weather leggings at 31 degree humid Cancun weather at 1pm in the afternoon. I made a request to be closer to the ground level, close to the main lobby, and close to buffet, and on the quieter side. She took my request and we got settled in building 22A. The room had working AC, working mini-fridge, a working TV with 60 channels, the room was very clean and had shampoo/conditioner/body wash/body lotion. We chose a suite with 2 separate beds and it came with an extra single bed, and it came in handy because we are not used to the hot weather, so the 3 of us took one bed each to rest sometimes. The room had great blinds and we were able to close off the metal doors on the balcony and layers of thick black out curtains, and the room was very dark and dark enough to let all of us take naps. The mini fridge was replenished everyday, although we only drank water and probably 1 or two pops throughout our stay. Food: the buffet selection was impressive and had everything. There were different themes each day such as Asian, Spanish, etc, and that'd be the focus of some of the dishes, but there were also staples that do not change from day to day, overall the food selection is guaranteed to satisfy every consumer. Foods were fresh and I was always impressed at how MUCH effort is put in the kitchen to deliver such grand selection of food on time, 3 times a day, everyday. Although some dishes did not taste great (for example, their Asian noodles) or sometimes the dishes needed a bit more seasoning, but I am not mad about it at all since there's so many things to choose from and I'm not looking to have the best Chinese stir fry at a Mexican resort. There is only children section and my toddler liked their sausages and pancakes. We only stayed at the resort but we did go and dine at Tulum, I'd say Tulum had smaller selection of buffet and the food quality was about the same as Coba, though Tulum buffet had better decors in the dinning hall, but that's really besides the point. We had 2 choices of a la carte, and as per recommended we choose Mashua (Japanese and Peruvian fusion) and Cozumel in premiere lobby. We enjoyed Mashua way more, the red tuna was the best dish I have ever tasted, hands down. The waiters at Cozumel, Roger and another younger gentleman, gave us better service. Speaking of service, every waiter and waitress at buffet were friendly and quick, and they do work very hard. Tips: not mandatory, but we had about 25 $1 US bills with us for 5 days 4 nights trip, and we gave out pretty much all of them to wait staff, hotel staff, lobby receptionist at check out (there was only one guy doing the check out and there was a huge line). I`d like to address the smell I heard from several travelers and it also concerned me prior to going, when I went there, I realized the smell was there only in the early morning on two different days in specific areas, and it quickly diminished after we leave the area, or it goes away after a while and it never bothered us. The second thing I want to address is the seaweed on the beach. Akumal side of the beach had less seaweed on the day we went there and Tulumn had more, certain parts were ok but certain parts of the beach had long stretch of seaweed. Did it bother us? Not at all. This part of mexico isn't know for its beach, so we gladly stayed in the pool. Speaking of pool, every pool close to the edge is children-friendly, and some of the deeper areas only reach to about an adult's chest area or lower, I think this was designed with safety of swimmers in mind. Interestingly enough, the pools in Coba were a lot cleaner than Tulumn's. Tulumn's pools had sand and other small things such as leaves in there, not something that bothered us but it was just a mere observation in comparison to Coba's pools. The children's waterpark was fun and my boy had a great time playing with smaller slides on the sides and going up and down the stairs, and lifeguards there are very vigilant and they aren't afraid to tell children to stop rough play or do unsafe activities.

Love the service and food

Big thanks to Angel and Jose in the Kukulcan buffet for making our breakfasts and lunch most enjoyable for my wife and daughter and I. Our sixth stay, always a good one, the rooms are getting a little older and the sargassum problem makes the beach terrible but otherwise another great stay. The beach and pools can not be categorized in the same column, the pools are great, the beach is terrible. They have 50 people and heavy machinery removing the seaweed daily. One of the greatest time in my life

I went to this hotel to celebrate a friends wedding. Unfortunately for me I wasn’t able to book the same nights off as the rest of the party, so I would arrive two days earlier; alone. Luckily though I still had an incredible time because not only of the amazing staff helping me out, but also the guests were also very friendly. I probably had a better time my first nights than I did with the wedding guests. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything. ¡Viva Mexico!

Great resort!

Rooms, grounds, public areas all clean. Food was great! Shuttle services super convenient. A lot of seaweed at the beach, so we stayed at the pools. Pools were nice and A la cart dinners were amazing!

Incredible Resort!

Had such an amazing Time at this resort, everything was incredible from the food to the service and the events offered at night! I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during my trip to Mexico! The resort was even kind enough to give me a discount for an extra night because of my flight being canceled. Everything was incredible! The worst part about it is that you won’t want to go back home!
