Good vacation!

We stayed in this resort 2 years ago and loved it, decided to come back. Since then the service and overall appeal has significantly declined. Things are old, dirty, not kept up. Beach: amazing; Food: enough that u are not hungry, but got tired of the same (no variety). Drinks: plenty, Amazing coffee at the lobby

Fantastic Vacation Experience

Beautiful beach with turquoise waters and white sandy beach. Definitely, need to try the fresh grilled fish at lunch the seafood place. The sports club was amazing too, had a great time playing pool with the whole family.

Great time away!

Our stay at the Melia Las Dunas was from May 4-May11, 2017. The weather was beautiful, sunny every day and 30+ degrees celcius each day. The cool ocean breeze made the sunny and warm weather very comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. The food was nice and plentiful. Our room was a little worn, but comfortable. The property boasts an amazing swimming pool, great for kids. Plus, the layout of the property is very quaint, with lots of great walking paths. Great Vacation!

This was my third time at this resort. It is one of my favorite places to vacation. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable. The cold beer and the hamburgers at the Beer Garden were excellent! The lobby is huge and open 24 hours. They serve the best specialty coffees in the lobby and we enjoyed them every morning. The animators were great fun and there was lots of dancing at night. The beach is second to none.

That was last year

considering that we we where there 3 years in the row this time the food end the sea 5 star..... all the rest was a resort of 2 stars with out joking. sample.... the water in the room was cold for a couple days ,no toilet paper in the washrooms. water was dripping from the ceiling in the rooms...most of the plumbing was not working properly... the resort that was good... today is terrible.and I want to stop here

Such a great vacation!

Melia Las Dunas is a terrific all-inclusive resort in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba. The resort is impeccably clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. They offer so much to do for all ages. Our family ranged in age from 22 to 53 and every one of us had a great time! The beach was beautiful, but the shade seats were very hard to procure. Lots of loungers with towels on them for hours without people on them. Not really fair. We wished "holding" was not a thing.

NIce resort

We spent one week at this resort the first of April. THe resort is big, be prepared to do a lot of walking. THe beach is amazing, we enjoy d the beer garden! we stayed on the adult side. THe swing up pool bar was nice. The food at the buffet at breakfast was ver good. THe coffee was amazing ! I miss the Cuban coffee When eating at the main buffet be careful of what you eat. A great resort!

We spent 2 weeks at the Melia Las Dunas along with 2 other couples. First time at this resort, but have been to many other resorts in Cuba and Dominican. We did not have an issue with anything the entire two weeks. We contacted the resort before going and asked for 3 rooms sise by side n the 48-49 area and we got it. We went to the Romanica, Italian, Pizza and seafood Ala cartes. The seafood was good, but no choices for different dishes. The Italian was great, but the waitress was not the best. [... read more] Other two were great. The staff everywhere were great, friendly and there to please you. The resort is dated, but they are spending money to bring it up. Great beach with lots of chairs and staff to get you chairs if you can't find them. I highly recommend this resort and I have read a couple not so great reviews on it and it baffles me as to how they could rate it not great. I will say that the trip to the resort via Air Transat was not good. We were delayed 2 and a half hours in Halifax because of a faulty plane. There was not an apology for this although I realize it could not be helped and the some of the flight staff were not very friendly during the flight. They did not even offer a free beer etc because we were late. Air Transat no longer offers biscuits, cookies etc free either on there flights. It shows they are in it for the money and don't care about their customers.The flight back was very good though.

This is a nice resort.

This is a very large resort.First the staff are amazing our maid kept our room very clean, air conditioner worked well.The beds are very hard could invest in softer mattresses.The lobby had entertainment every night the food was good for Cuba.There are markets on either side of the resort one within walking distance and the other a ten minute taxi drive.The beeches are beautiful lots of white sand.Check in was a breeze the people are so nice and friendly. Amazing

This resort was great. Our second time there. Staff wonderful. Bathroom at pool area a little off at times. But anyone that complains they should go to another resort. Only complaint was air transit going there yes we were delayed but weather was an issue BUT attendants in section R2 going down that girl was rude never smiled after being on Tarmac for over three hours on hot plane u think a glass of water would have been nice she should retire she certainly didn't like her job Returning they [... read more] couldn't be any nicer Wonderful vacation

First time going

We went for 10 days. Mar 28-apr 7. Overall a good experience, great food and amazing people. Only thing to complain about it they do not change sheets. They only make the bed even when asked for new sheets and the wifi does not work. Other than that it was a nice trip.

Las Dunas 2017

We had a great week at melia Las Dunas. We left March 28th/April 5th. We were a family of seven. Grandparents, parents and 3 kids aged 12,7&2. Staff were wonderful beach was amazing, food was ok..we could always find something to eat. The only thing if your traveling with younger kids the buffet did not open for supper until 7pm. The kids enjoyed the nightly entertainment. And there was always something happening around the pool. The resort itself is very large so lots of walking! Melia Las Dunas

Everything good but food ok.A lot of birds in huts eating food ,pooping?Beach great,pools too.Hotel clean,ants in room but to be expected.Just sprayed with repellent.Grounds were sprayed during day,maybe better at night when no food out.

Best beach ever!!

I just came back from my 3rd visit to Cayo Santa Maria Island. Once again it was a very relaxing time away. As a female travelling alone it is a very safe destination. The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen anywhere in the world. Can't wait to head back in November!! Thanks to Trip Central, Sunwing and Melia Las Dunas for a fabulous getaway!!!

Beautiful

Hotel was clean and staff where very friendly The food was basically the same everyday breakfast was the best time to eat. The ocean was breathe taking. The resort had lots to offer Thanks to our agent

Resort was awesome. Our agent was awesome she was very helpful The people at resort where so friendly differently a beautiful place beach was so beautiful rooms where clean and maids where so friendly and rooms where clean

Great resort

We have returned to this resort after 4 years. The only con was that the beach on the adult side had eroded away. The family side had a good beach but not enough shade available. People up at 530 for coveted spots. The Pros The food was great. Kept warm. Good variety. Salads and dressings kept on ice. Many choices on the buffet, only ate at the a la carts once. Tired and very average resort

The grounds are extremely large and cart rides by hotel are scarce even though they say frequent. The rooms aren't well cleaned and the entire facility is very tired and in need of upgrades. Due to the immense size, the buffet line ups are rediculous. The food was below average but I understand that's not unusual for Cuba. Service all around was quite poor. If your on the beach or by the pool, be prepared to walk far for a drink or food. There aren't any take out containers and drinks are serv [... read more]ed in small 6ounce plastic cups.

Just a great place from the start

We can't wait to return again. Buffet had great choices, meat, saladas, veggies, etc. The servers and cooks were all very friendly and I didn't mind tipping them every chance we had. Beach was beautiful and the ocean warm. It was hard to get a seat at the pools, but I'm really not a pool person. The al-a-carte selection (4) restaurants because we were there (10) days was very good, lobster was $10 extra but well worth it. The guys at the sailboat rides were great! Amazing resort and breath taking beach

Just spent 7 days in the most amazing resort I have ever been to in Cuba. The beach is absolutely breath taking and the staff were nothing but the best. Met a lot of great people and I will definitely be back to Melia Las Dumas in the future. I highly recommend this resort it had a lot of amazi g shows and the entertainment was far from boring
