Excellent

We were at the resort in April , The beach and the ocean were beautiful and warm . The rooms were nice and clean , The room maid would come every morning and clean and make our bed . The bar staff were always close by to get you drinks . The buffet food was pretty good and different choices every day . The resort and grounds were very well maintained over all 9/10

An amazing resort ..Had alot of fun and staff was great and friendly

The hotel was very clean ..The pools were kept up very well and the food was amazing !!!! The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the wait staff were very good and fast ...the room was cleaned and stocked every day ...

Beautiful resort

❤️we loved the resort and beach and the workers food is Cuba but I really have to say that we still ate good the japenes restaurant was really good we always felt safe even when we left the resort... the only thing I would have to complain about is the rooms needs renovations and we had to chase for bottle wAter other than that everything was great ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇺❤️

Enjoyable resort!

Our first time at the resort and we will be returning. We enjoyed the different restaurants and bars. Make sure to book the speciality restaurants early and bring a travel water bottle or tumbler for water and drinks at the bars. Great staff and a nice clean resort.

Great value

We thought the lobby and restaurants were well presented . The rooms were a bit tired but functional . Overall we had a great time ,the beach was amazing . The one downside was the folks on the beach with the catamarans were far more interested in getting guests to go out on the snorkelling trip they offered ,they were dismissive and borderline rude in their approach.

Declining facility

I stayed at this resort 4 years ago. First time I have ever returned to a resort and was disappointed. Entertainment was not as plentiful as my previous visit and buffet food not as good either. My partner was very sick with food poisoning after eating shrimp on our second night and we did not return to the buffet after that. A la carte restaurants were decent so we stuck to those for supper and the grill for lunch. I used to be very loyal to iberostar resorts but this is the second disappointing trip to this chain. It was just OK

I have been to Varadero before with varying degrees of success. This was a hotel I was really looking forward to because it was an Iberostar and I have heard such good things. If this is an example of the Iberostar standard, I am underwhelmed. 1) At first, there was a mix up with our room which was resolved swiftly and with an apology so we were very encouraged. But the shower in the new room was filthy, the phone didn't work and despite service coming nothing got resolved. 2) As is typic [... read more]al in Cuba, you can get peanut butter, orange juice, etc...on some days but not on others. very odd. 3) The food in the buffet was never labeled, it is hard to know what you are eating when it is not identified, or identified wrong. An item was labeled as lettuce but was actually shredded green pepper. 4) People are just not very happy. With few exceptions, they just seem to be sad. 5) The grounds are nice, the pool is great, the beach is amazing. SOME of the food is delicious, some are awful (although I will admit this is the way it is with buffets) This is a 5 star, I fully understand that a Cuban 5 star is not a Mexican 5 star, but this does not meet even the Cuban 5 star standard. Go to the Blau Varadero, much better value for your money

Not a level 4.5

I understand Cuba food is not great but this resort so far was the worst I've had. Their snack bar was great and the Italian restaurant was amazing but that's it. Getting water was like pulling teeth they didn't offer it or have it readily available. We paid for upgrades but received not a king as requested and paid for but 2 doubles because they were out. Blue water and warm sand

This was our second visit to Laguna Azul. The lobby has lots of comfortable seating with a piano and outside patio looking down at one of the swimming pools and clean landscaping. The buffet is on the bottom floor where the menu stays the same for the most part. It is difficult to prepare food for a full resort of guests so it is not gourmet. My Mom and I had stomach sickness for a couple of days. Thankfully there was bottled water, fruit and cheese to nibble until we felt better. Our room [... read more] was nicely air conditioned which made us more comfortable. Taking a walk through the grounds the birds were singing and small lizards scurrying about. Lounge chairs were available in shade on the beach. As with any resort in Cuba there will be weeks of plenty and weeks when there is less. There are rooms that need maintenance and others that are 5 star. If you want sun and surf it is beautiful. If your priority is the room and food it can go either way. Smile and enjoy the simple things!

Amazing resort

This is our 5th or 6th time to this resort. We do love the resort which is why we keep going back. There are some things that needs attention. The gym equipment that was broken last year is still broken this year but maybe not a lot of ppl use the gym. Other than that I have no complaints. Very nice resort!

This resort is very big! The beach is beautiful and well maintained. We had to change rooms the first night as our room had no safe and our shower head was not mounted to the wall. We spoke with Kensy at guest services and he was quick to act and get us a nice new room for the following day! Kensy was great and all of the staff were very friendly. The food was typical food for resorts in Cuba so it was just okay. We found that this resort didn't staff the bars properly and only ever [... read more] had one bartender in the lobby bar. Even when there were 20+ people waiting for a drink. The pool bar was better with two bartenders on each side. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were excellent and the grounds were well maintained!

Loved resort ...amazing

We loved this resort...the people were great,food was good, hotel clean only problem with hotel 220 not 110 for sleep apnea machine...would go again...flight was terrible .stewardess nice..seats tight

GREAT SATISFACTION

This was my second time at the Iberostar Laguna Azul and I must say that they did a really great job in showing that I was a repeat customer. Our room had an amazing view so I thank them very much for that! I was disappointed however that they did not serve fresh mangos nor did they have coconut icecream this time. We also missed the band they get to play outside on the veranda. Not a family friendly resort

Just got back from this resort. It’s really nice! The resort was lovely, pools and beaches were so nice, cleaning staff were sweet and bartenders were quick and friendly. But this wasn’t a family friendly resort. We went with a 19mth old and there were so many issues we ran into. The food options were limited and there were no labels to show you what you are eating. Lack of high chairs. No straws. Wading pool seemed unattended and we found cigarette butts in it. No water slides. Kids Care se [... read more]emed empty everyday for such a big real estate it took up. Wifi is only in the lobby so couldn’t use iPads in the room. Drain plug in our tub was broken.... it may have been okay if it were just my husband and I. But when you string along a toddler and run into these issues, it gets frustrating and makes our experience a bad one at this resort. This resort needs to make some updates.

Fantastic resort!

First time to Cuba and it was fabulous! Clean rooms, excellent amenities, great food, friendly staff! Could not ask for more! Big resort but small feel. Lots of things to do. Beach is gorgeous! Played tennis, sailed, pool activities! Beach bar was so close and also the lunch/snack bar to the beach. Helpful staff. A la cartes were so yummy!

Fantastic holiday

Just got back Sunday afternoon and missing this wonderful resort already!The beach was everything we hoped for white sand and beautiful clear water. The rooms were lovely and spacious the air conditioning was nice and cool and ceiling fan was quiet made for a great sleep! My grown children traveled with us and they loved the pools and fun activities and of course the swim up bar!!Definitely will come back again location great for a trip into Havana and a night out clubbing in Varadero!The staff [... read more] are friendly and the food was delicious! Great time at Azul

6 of us stayed here first week of April. Shuttle to the resort was on time and took around 40mins. The resort check in was very fast with no issues. Our first room had no safe , we were assigned a new one right away. We were in the ground floor room 12116 sliding doors opened out to one of the several pools next to a bar/restaurant serving drinks and a small menu from 10am to 430pm daily. Very good service. Pool was awesome...clean ...tables and chairs around the pool were always available. We d [... read more]id 3 restaurants Cuba/Italian/Japanese. Japanese being the best. Breakfast /lunch and dinner were very good always a very large selection of food. Several bars around d the resort drinks were not an issue. Internet is sold by the hour with 1cuc per card with username and password.. day trips are available at extra cost... We just hired a car and went I to town to the markets...cost us 20 peso for 4 of us. Cheap!...I would forsure go back here...it's Cuba not the Hilton Toronto!

Nice resort but over rated in our opinion.

We enjoyed our stay but... no doors on the closets, tub drain was plugged, no tub drain so no bath, no shower stall so we had to "climb" into the tub that was 2 1/2 feet high. The shower head was not hooked to the wall so we had to hold the wand. The door wouldn't close without overriding the lock. There was a 1 inch step up into our room that we kept tripping over. The resort is large so there were lots of people around causing congestion in the main buffet area. We had trouble finding shade anywhere unless we were willing to get up before daylight to put towels on a lounger. The pool area attendants made sure we had mats to put on the lounger. That was "comfort" :) The beach was very nice with lots of huts and loungers. The beach was very clean. We didn't stay up to see any of the entertainment but we heard it was a nice. Internet was fast without any problems.

Incredible Vacation with Amazing Service

From booking the vacation with Martine in St. Catherines, to when we arrived, 100% satisfaction. We arrived at the Iberostar Laguna Azul and were met by the friendliest hotel front desk attendants I have ever met. As we were checking in, a very nice lady brought us a citrus juice drink right there at the front desk, and it was amazing. This was the first impression and let me tell you, you felt like royalty! Next up was the bellman who took our baggage to our room, all along the way  [... read more]he was providing us detailed information on the hotel, the activities and the night life at the hotel. He explained how to also get around off the resort on the double deck bus service.....all day for $5.00! We got to our room to find a king size bed fit for a queen and the most spacious room I have stayed in. Our room was very clean, plenty of pillows and clean crisp sheets and towels. The shower was huge and LOTS of hot water! The pools at this resort were awe inspiring, clean, cool and plenty of room for everyone! You had a choice of 7 different pools from very active with lots of people, to quiet and private type pools if you want privacy. The beach....oh the beach...was so clean and water sooooo clear! The food was incredibly tasty and plentiful! The head chef of all the food services can be seen walking around ALL of the restaurants on the resort at EVERY meal! The Japanese Restaurant was my favourite, the chef we had was comical, but he made the food with incredible precision and with such a fun way to include his guests with cooking and the atmosphere! Now to the best part, the STAFF. The staff, whether it was the bar staff, waitresses or the room cleaners...were AMAZING! They really know how to treat you as a special guest and not just a tourist. Our waiter Jonkey in the buffet diner (not sure if it was spelt right) was truly passionate at his job and he made everyone feel welcomed by the way he treated our wives at dinner and gave the guys a rose made from paper to give to our wives.....we invited him back to Canada! He was so amazing. Israel our WestJet guide at the resort was very helpful and accommodating while booking excursions! He is a true testament to hospitality! This first trip to Cuba will be one of many we will take. We all said (6 of us) we would definitely be going back to Cuba and we also said this resort will be top of the list to return to! Great Resort

We had a lot of fun! The rooms were very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was as expected. There were lots of activities going on throughout the day at the main pool and beach. There were also two quiet pools if in need of a break. We would definitely go back.
