Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: good place to visit

The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. The pool and beach areas were terrific with plenty of sun loungers for all. I was disappointed with the lack of food variety on the buffets especially at lunch time. The ala carte restaurants were good. I would recommend the resort, but with a stipulation about the lack of variety for the food.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Nice resort

Hotel was dated but was clean, staff was friendly! Food was ok! A lot of stuff missing with the resort or have no access to which was disappointing! Room was clean but very loud, the resort doesn’t sleep! ( at least where we were) No beaches so if you’re going to relax in the sand! Not the resort you’re looking for!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Marien hotel, Puerta Plata

Best nightly shows I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you to Ricky and the dancers. Ricky your special attention to my three year old niece made our stay extra special, Our room was very nice. The cleaning staff stocked our fridge and cleaned our room daily including fresh towels. The pool was spacious and there was lots of chairs for everyone. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not what expected

Great location Close to ocean, food average, rooms terrible, old run down and nothing worked. 2 little beers and 2 cokes in fridge, you had to pay if you wanted anymore. Spoke with front desk about plugged toilets, no water for 2 days, radio did not work, ceiling fan broke, needed to replace door key 3 times. Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Lovely relaxing Resort

Overall good. Liked the no plastic bottle policy. Great variety and lots of food at the buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Did not take in any shows at the theatre as started too late. Loved the airial displays watching the kite surfers.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Disappointed

For the amount of money my trip cost it truly was not worth it. I arrived Feb 6 approximately 6:30-7pm because my plane was late. The rooms are adequate nothing special. I thought my reservation was set as l am having trouble with my legs and requested 2nd floor facing pool, close to my son who was already there. As you know 2nd floor can be reached on ground level close to the front. I do not like to be on the ground floor by myself. I am 81 yrs old just to give you an idea. 1st room w [... read more]as deplorable and l refused it. The air did not work, the fridge didn't work and it smelled. They sent someone to check what rooms they had but he was gone half hour approx and when he came back had not checked for rooms. Not sure what he was doing. So then someone else checked and said only room was ground floor and now being late l just said okay l will stay here tonight but in the morning l would like to be on the 2nd floor. The tv did not work, the phone was dead. The lock on the patio was poor. So much of a ruckus at night 2;30-3 am. l blocked my patio door. They did fix the tv. But not the phone. I had to stay until Monday 9th because the resort was booked solid. Finally they offered me to look at two rooms one faced the back and l said no, the 2nd faced the pool. l changed rooms, tv did not work, phone not operable, no bureau. but it faced the pool and down the hall approx 8 rooms away from my son. They fixed the tv. There was a woman cleaning wanting to know if something wrong, told her no bureau but they had one in the other room l was offered. She called for someone who was not coming and so she grabbed the bureau and started to drag it down the hall at which point my son stepped in to help. The rooms like l say are adequate, but the drapes need replacing, hard to pull open or shut, the locks on patio doors need replacing, and the safe door need to be oiled as was hard to open and screeched. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH LOUNGES. Several people including my son and myself looking for a lounge but all were taken every day. People claim them early in the morning by placing towels (this is normal in many resorts) but sometimes never used them til 2:30-3 pm. You need to look into this and have security remove towels if not used in apptox 2 hrs. I was at Casa Marina last year, loved it food was great lounges were available, rooms were in a bit better shape. so this year not so much. In the main buffet, Food was okay but nothing great. Boiled potatos, carrots daily almost cooked, meats were tough at times and by the time you carried your plate back to your table the food was cold. In the morning you get eggs and then get toast and sit down to eat COLD eggs. Same with the pancakes and french toast COLD.. the coffeE horrible very bitter and again not hot. Even hot milk contsiner was not hot. Did you get new chefs? The alacarte that served pizza, french fries and chicken etc at lunch were always hot. So started having lunch there. For the most part the staff is very friendly, the girls in the buffet are over worked with such high volume. Hard to keep up. Oh and can not speak english lol Valentine’s day the dinner was very well done. The people who work there do a good job, they try their best to please everyone. I watched how they worked. In the long run my stay was okay but not great. I doubt l will ever come back nor will l recommend Casa Marina. Last year l told everyone how wonderful it was. Not now. I am sorry but its the way l feel. Oh and Milton at the front taking all the complaints. I feel for him. He is pleasant and listens. Writes everything down. He needs a bonus!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: I'm never disappointed - Great resort

This is my 7th year staying at Casa Marina. This year, they gave me ground floor room. Walk out to the pools and the beach. II don't know, but I feel so safe and relaxed staying here. The staff, i mean ALL the staff are great. When you leave the resort, there is the town of Sosua, right there. I also find it safe, day and nite. By the way, Kevin from Trip central got me the patio room.

Everything was exactly as it was last year when I was there. That’s why we booked again. A small resort &very friendly. Workers pleasant, always helpful. Good food. Property clean & well kept. Enjoyed my stay. Dianne Conrad.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Ok resort

the hotel and staff were great. In the room the toilet did not flush all the time and actually overflowed several times.. we had hot water only one day and rest of the time it was warm water. The air conditioner water dripped right on our floor in the hall near the bathroom and the door to our room. The public washrooms were disgusting…birds were helping them selves to the food at the snack bar actually going right into the containers. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: OK Resort

The staff is exceptionally friendly. But I can't figure out why they use four different people to service the rooms. One handles towels, one handles restocking the fridge, one cleans the room, and one delivers chocolates at night. There's lots of traffic in the hallways, and lots of noise. Oh my, I like salt but a lot of the food was really too salty! Unusual for a Caribbean resort, the desserts were delicious. The A La Cartes were ok, the Italian was probably the best. The beach is lovely for sunbathing and walking, not great for swimming. We had a Premium package so got to enjoy the private beach area. That was really nice. The pool was very nice, but closed down at 7:00 pm! And often during the day the volume of music playing was not enjoyable. They could also use more public restrooms. The ones they have at the lobby often had a line up, sometimes because they wouldn't flush. My cousin and I booked massages, not a great experience. There's nothing like someone calling bingo at a volume that could be heard throughout the resort to aid in the relaxation one should enjoy from having a massage. The cold air blasting down wasn't a great addition to the hot stone massage either. It's not the worse resort I've ever been to, that belongs to Cuba, but I am not likely to book this resort again.

Very clean and the grounds were amazing.! Loved the beach area. Did not enjoy the drinks as with any all inclusive, cheaper alcohol is used along with very sugary mixes. Great wine though...Great access to town and loved the night life on the beach.

Playabachata Hotel: Good

The food was some of the best food I have had in Dominican! Staff are very nice and helpful. However I do think they need to fix up the pool and get some new chairs. Also the resort is very large and holds a lot of guests but there is not enough room for everyone at the pool, lobby, theatre or in the buffet. You have to wait in a line of 20 people every morning and night for certain foods, and they run out of some foods as hours pass.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: A nice resort!

Liked the resort is smaller. Food was adequate, rooms could have been cleaner, like they need a good deep clean. Elevators not working so when carrying luggage it was a bit problematic. Overall a nice resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good week at the resort but the weather should be better the week after we left.

The main hotel lobby reception area is located in the middle and you have the differents stylish buildings around it where the rooms are located. The theatre is very close to the lobby and the buffet and the bar outside. They keep the place clean. The workers are quick at cleaning the tables and serving us coffee and water. The live music band (one night) was very very good. The others nights they had karaoke, silent disco and some good dance performers.They had the super bowl party viewing on the giant screen in the theatre outside. We had few sunny days and some rain but it's the same everywhere (climate change). The resort does not have elevators but after few days of climbing three floors, my heart rate improved, I was less breathless the last days. It was a good exercise but it makes it a little harder when you take your luggage down when you leave. You can also ask the porters to come and help you. In general, it was a good week and we were happy with our choice.

Nice hotel located close to beach. The beach was well groomed. The pool area had plenty of tables and chairs and the staff ran some great poolside activities. The Mexican restaurant was amazing. The snack bar overlooking the beach was nice. The room itself was not great. Air conditioning leaked water on the floor. The ceiling in the bathroom shower needed maintenance to repair due to a water leak, the two queen beds were not overly comfortable and room furnishings were minimal. There are  [... read more]not nearly enough beach lounge chairs. We were there 10 days and we're unable to get a lounge chair on the beach even once!!! One day we couldn't get beach towels due to a dryer problem. All the staff were amazing and helpful. The constant push of viva staff to sell memberships was a bit too much.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Relaxing/Fun week at Waves Costa Dirada

Solid 4 Star resort. Excellent service from staff Kennedy, Carlos and Doulche. All 3 AlaCartes were very good. Pool was kept very clean, a bit cool but very refreshing. Bathrooms in rooms upgraded very nicely. Both buffets were also well stocked with great salad bars and hot foods. 7th time visiting this resort and will go back. One negative comment, the resort beach is nice but once u get to the public area’s there is garbage, plastic bottles etc everywhere.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Awesome resort with great people

Upon arrival we were sent upstairs to the Royal check in. While doing required paperwork were given drinks of our choice as well as access to some Hors d'oeuvre in the lounge. Check in was quick room was not ready but was ready when we came back at 3pm. Room and grounds clean pool good and was kept clean. Man bars available for the size of the resort and all good. Sure but if you try the different dishes it was good. The Ocean Grill, Italian and Octopus restaurants were also good for an all inclusive. The staff were top notch friendly and quick for the most part (yes restaurants could be slower in service and getting coffee at breakfast could be slow but the resort was at capacity the whole time so please be patient they are going 10/10.) Overall I love love love this resort especially at the price point and will visit again.
