Secrets The Vine Cancun: True 5 Star
We are experienced travellers that travel for two weeks each month from November to March. We have stayed at many of five star rated resort resorts. Secrets the vine is a true five star. From the welcome reception to well appointed rooms. From the gorgeous pools, restaurants and wait staff everything was perfection. We could not think of anything to complain about as hard as we tried, except for there was no Robe hooks in our room and the beach was not our favourite
Other than that, no mat[... read more]ter how hard we try, we can’t think of anything that we would change or that we were unhappy with.

Hyatt Vivid Cancun: excellent!
Hotel was wonderful.....except!!! not enough lounging outdoor chairs, there are plenty of loungers by the pool on the beach but I'm 64 years old and it was getting comical how I was getting on and off the lounge chairs!

Grand Oasis Cancun: Worst trip for stress
We had nothing but stress on this trip. Air. Ananda royally dropped the ball on this one. Changing plane schedules without notice. To the worst possibly run resort in history. We were greeted with rudeness and conflict. Absolutely no help from them and we had to go on our own to find our room without help or direction after our 8 hour late plane ride landing us there without transportation to the resort. Then the place had so many blocked areas that had to be paid for before entering. So much fo[... read more]r all inclusive. Too bad this place is run so bad as it is actually a beautiful place. And again on the way home air canada was late and we had to run to get to our connecting flight. What a stress tha we did not need and wanted to get away from. Now I hope that after buying many tickets over the last 2 years trip central can step up to the plate and help us recover all the extra money we had to spend just to stay there.

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island: Great resort!
The food at the specialty restaurants and the beach club was great. Nice rooms as well. Beach club is off site but well worth the 8 minute shuttle. We loved the resort! We would recommend to friends and would also return.

Riu Latino: Just ok!
Booking with Trip Central was smooth.
Self serve at Ottawa airport was great.
Flight - cramped seats with no padding. Please bring back Elite program
Transfer to hotel was ok, no beverages offered.
Check-in at hotel was ok although they did not respect the lines, one line for RiU club class, one line for guests that were already registered. People lined up wherever.
ROOMS: very clean, room could use additional furniture such as desk. The fridge was well stocked. Plenty of clothes hange[... read more]rs in closet.
I love the RiU application where you can request maintenance, order additional towels, blankets, pillows, drinks etc…very efficient and super quick delivery.
FOOD: The restaurants were not great, the Asian restaurant is a buffet, all meats served in all restaurants are over cooked. The food is better at the buffet but if you don’t get it off the grill, the food is under a light and not always hot. The omelette/egg station offers precooked eggs and omelettes but not the greatest. They will make you a custom omelette but be prepared to wait as their priority is making large batches at a time. There is plenty of fruits and vegetables and ready made salads which were tasty. The resort does not have any outdoor terrace for dining other than Pepe’s food which serves frozen beef patties, hot dogs, fries, nachos and sometimes chicken and tacos, Nothing is really worth it here! Best to go to buffet!
DRINKS: no complaints, red, white, rose wine, sangria, proseccos all good, mixed drinks, frozen margaritas, ceasars, frozen mango daiquiri, gin and tonic, beer were all good.
SLIDES - did not try but they looked like a lot of fun
PARTY - mostly hosted at another sister resort, transportation provided, many participated and seemed to have had a blast
SPORTS BAR - open 24 hours, also best place for cappuccinos, lattes in the morning. You can also get pastries and pre made burritos and sandwiches and fresh fruits
SHOP - open 7am to 11 pm, pricey but not as bad as other hotels I visited
STAFF: Attentive, polite, welcoming and a great asset to the resort
BEACH - lots of chairs, great for long walks, we had red flag most of our stay due to high winds
POOLS: lots of chairs, the pools are close together so even if you are at a pool with no bar or activity you can still hear the action happening not far.
I don’t think I will return because of the food, I always found something to eat but it was repetitious and eating at the buffet for 3 meals every day quickly becomes monotonous.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Amazing
The hotel is great. Always clean and friendly. The suite was fabulous including the welcome bottle of wine and the flowers. All the staff is friendly, polite and ready to help you all times. Only concern is the resort has far too many sets of stairs which is very hard for a person like me with mobility issues. The a la cart restaurants are amazing.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Awesome resort
Best resort
In cancun! Great staff food and facilities, highly likely to go back. It is a great resort, especially if you have a family because the slides are amazing. The food was fantastic! One of the best buffets. Also, a huge place for me was the fact that you didn’t have to make any reservation reservations for the restaurants. This just made life so much easier.

Occidental Tucancun: Mediocre Resort
The hotel has too many stairs, you have to walk up and down too many stairs to get to the restaurants, to get to the pools and to get to the bars because nothing is on the same level. The adult only pool had ladders only to enter and exit and one was broken and not closed off. The food was less than acceptable. Cold, tasteless and not Mexican.
The staff was amazing and the rooms were clean.

Riu Dunamar: Amazing resort
The resort is kept extremely clean. Service with bars & restaurants very good & fast. No issues with our rooms. They were cleaned every day.
Bar in room was stocked every day & we didn't have to ask. Food & entertainment was fantastic. Always something to do. They even decorated my bed on my birthday & left some birthday desserts & a Happy Birthday card.
No complaints at all

Riu Dunamar: amazing resort overall
RIU Dunamar was a very good overall experience.
The beach was beautiful and swimmable, and the service throughout the resort was friendly and attentive. The food had good variety and solid options, especially for an all-inclusive — we never felt limited or hungry. Rooms were basic but practical and kept very clean.
A couple of days the minibar wasn’t refilled automatically, but when I requested it through the RIU app it was taken care of the same day. I also requested an extra chair for the ba[... read more]lcony and it was delivered quickly with no issues.
Unfortunately, I did get sick during the stay, which impacted part of the trip, but overall the resort itself met expectations in terms of cleanliness, service, and value. I would still recommend RIU Dunamar, especially for travelers looking for a relaxed beach vacation with reliable service.

Hotel Dos Playas Faranda: Mixed feelings- overall not great, should be classified as 2 star
Overall my experience was not great. A few good points though..
Food was fantastic. Although not huge rows of options as in larger resorts, everything they offered was delicious. A lot of typical Mexican food in the buffet. They had pizza and sushi snack bar open until 6pm. And another restaurant open different schedules. And then sushi again open for dinner. Very tasty and overall fast service with that most days. Drinks were great at all the bars. They have much better options and flavo[... read more]urs vs what you find in Cuba.
Beach- Water was swimmable. Some days calm with light waves and blue green colour. Boats come in and causing waves so other days created more waves. Always has been swimmable. Seaweed not a huge problem. Little can be found and was cleaned daily. One day seaweed was noticeable and more in the water by shore so was annoying to swim in but was due to heavier waves from boats. Sand was pleasant and white on the beach just not much beach area.
Entertainment- not much going on in the day. They have small team that do little couple zumba dances around the pool or some demonstrations for cooking. Nothing very interesting or entertaining. Would be good if they danced with people in evening as some other resorts do to keep people entertained. No games going on.
For families- nothing really for kids. They have 3 pools. All quite cold as surrounded by buildings and shade. So not enough sun and water in pool was usually cold. ( We were there in January 2026). Main pool often dirty with floating leaves and things. Chairs around pool, it's never enough chairs. About 12 chairs and people reserve with a towel and aren't there most of the time. Layout is strange. If you show up with a stroller or wheelchair, not going to be able to use it much. Lots of stairs, lots of bumpy pavement. This is not a resort that is great for people with mobility. They have a paved slope for getting around to a few of the buildings. But you will not be able to get into the main buffet as stairs to get in. You also would not be able to get to the beach at all as plenty of stairs with many holes and cracks and uneven boards.
Room- Our first room was disappointing # 1003. Faucet is built to spray water all over counter even when on very low. Shower pressure not great. Soap and shampoo provided. Never enough towels. Always something in the room not functioning well. NOT ALL ROOMS have balconies or terrace. This room 1003 has a window only and felt like a prison cell.
The worst part was that my room we discovered had BED BUGS. I will be writing to Tripcentral privately to address the situation to Air Canada Vacations with photos of the little critters I caught and the bites they left on us. Took 3 attempts with the hotel to get room changed. The first time they came in with their own Mexican version of OFF spray and did a little spray in our room. The second time we approached front desk about this they advised they will fumigate while we are out for the day... we continued getting bitten until I believe was 5th night. Woke up to see a bed bug crawling on my son. After picking it up and killing it, we stayed up practically the whole night and found 4 more and killed them too and brought to reception. With this proof they managed to offer change of room for next day. Better room in same category #1403. Much bigger room still on ground level with a terrace. Only downfall is one bed bug traveled with us and showed up later that evening in new room.
Location is good. With stops for dropping off/picking up people was about 40 minutes from CUN airport. 15 min bus ride to central square.
Overall this is a place to recommend to people that are ok with just the bare minimum. Don't care to get much tan or prefer doing excursions. Like good food and drinks. Don't care for much entertainment. Don't mind possibly sleeping with bed bugs. Not recommended for kids, not recommended to people with mobility issues.
The hotel also wanted to charge us for a broken lamp shade that was not our doing. Check out was unpleasant and seems like they are trying to milk money off tourists here and there for things that people did not break.

Grand Oasis Palm: Needs Improvement
Unfortunately the resort was very underwhelming. The resort did not at all look like the pictures. Very outdated. Very overcrowded. Limited food options and cold, when available. Never any pool chairs. Staff were very kind though when they did assist (which was limited, due to overcrowding)

Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: WELL APPOINTED PROPERTY
WE LOVED OUR STAY AT PLANET HOLLYWOOD. IT WAS CLEAN AND WELL LAID OUT. LOTS OF RESTAURANT CHOICES WE AVAILABLE TO US. WE STAYED ON THE ADULT SCENE SIDE AND WE COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH OUR SWIM OUT AND KING ROOM. THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE HAD, AND IT WAS OUR FAULT FOR NOT RESEARCHING THE VENUE A BIT MORE, WAS THE LOUD ENTERTAINMENT THAT WAS HAPPNED EVERY EVENING UNTIL 11PM AND AT THE POOLS FOR THE BETTER PART OF THE DAY. OTHER THAN THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND PLANET HOLLYWOOD

Grand Oasis Cancun: My Opinion
If you are ok with being in a line for EVERYTHING then you will be ok with this resort. Buffets don’t hold enough people so expect a lengthy line up. Once in, don’t expect any salsa and butter not always available. If you like to drink, get 2 and just go to the back of the line. You’ll have finished your drinks by the time you get back to the front. Entertainment is slim to none. You have to make your own. The resort closes everything by 10:30 or 11:00pm, again make your own fun. There about 30 [... read more]lounge chairs on the beach. All will be reserved by 8:00am. The beach , ocean and rooms are fantastic. Service doesn’t really exist. This resort is all about what YOU make of it. My expectations were low but not low enough. ?

Oleo Cancun Playa: Wonderful resort!
The staff at this resort are amazing!!!! I cannot say enough good things about the staff. The food is very good as well and having 24 room service and a coffee shop with sandwiches and ice cream was amazing. The resort itself is very nice, with nice rooms. The negatives for me... 1. There was no nighttime entertainment.
2. The bar tenders basically rinsed the bar cups and sent them back out for use. I got a many dirty cups with lipstick marks, floating, etc. I ended up using my own cup as I g[... read more]ot very sick with diarrhea for 24 hours.
But the location is close to the airport, with wonderful lounge areas and hard working staff!!!

Grand Oasis Palm: Three Star Resort with Five Star Staff
This was my second time at the Grand Oasis Palm in Cancun. Having had a fair amount of experience in the Cancun and the Mayan Riviera all the way to Tulum, I write this review with that experience in mind. While by facilities alone, I would call the Grand Oasis Palm only a three star, there were five star elements to it.
The staff at this resort were amazing, going out of their way to make us feel warmly welcomed and saw to any needs we had with the highest level of professionalism. This posi[... read more]tive comment applies to all the staff from the beach bar, reception, serving staff and others who worked tirelessly, doing their best to make the vacationing experience as best possible.
As for food service, I will only comment on the buffet that had a large selection of well prepared and presented dishes to choose from. The soups were outstanding and the variety of sushi was surprisingly good.
The facility is a little weathered overall where it is overdue for renovations. The resort needs a lobby bar. Once the rain pounds, there is only one other day time bar on the Oasis side to get beverages (other than table service at the restaurants). The sports bar is limited in both size and drink selection. The busy beach bar is wonderful, but it definitely needs an additional bartender, or two.
I do recommend the Grand Oasis Palm in Cancun as a budget friendly, all inclusive resort but I do see this facility as a three star with five star staff and four star buffet, therefore overall, I selected four stars for this review.

Hyatt Vivid Cancun: Good vacation destination
Hotel was above average, clean, modern updates, variety of specialty restaurants. However the sports bar needs more modern entertainment, rather than Karaoke most nights. Main pool was nice, but families used the main pool rather than the children’s pool as the area was too shaded by tall buildings. Area was often cool and windy. Beach was lovely and well maintained
