Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Best Mexican All inclusive so far!

Loved this resort. Rooms are wonderful, clean spacious comfortable beds and a most excellent walk in closet and shower. Food AMAZING! Never a bad meal. Al a cartes were a great treat every night... beautiful presentation. Pools were great and service around the pools were great even if you didn't tip all the time. The service everywhere was excellent. Beach was small but beaches on each side of resort were large and beautiful and short walk also to market and access to Ixtapa island which was a  [... read more]pleasure to visit. Hotel provided many things to do for free including guided kayak and snorkeling, biking tour and a bit of sailing. So you didn't even have to go far to enjoy the surrounding area. The night entertainment in our resort was lacking and a bit loud but all in all it did what it needed to do you could venture to sister hotel Azul to take in the dancers and such if you liked. We would totally recommend this resort to anyone. Big or small. The kids can go to sister hotel to enjoy the water slides and such. It is a hidden treasure and we would love to go back someday.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: First time and would go back.

The food was really good and enough variety to keep it interesting. Beds and pillows comfortable.We had hoped for an ocean view room but ended up facing the road and the hotel next door, which by the way, had us up until 5:00 a.m., yes, 5:00 a.m. with their music. Way past the partying stage. After Friday night all good. Very clean, all staff so friendly. Watch out for every 5th or 6th wave though ...don't turn your back 'cause they'll leave you not knowing which way is up. Would I go ba [... read more]ck? ...yes.

Krystal Ixtapa: Very disappointed

Poor food.No Canadian rye whisky {any brand Rules }not enforced. e.g.--A La Carte dress code Pool area very slippery and unsafe. Pool restrooms not well maintained.. Lounge furniture sagging and in need of repair. Air conditioning not adequate. No refrigerator. Had to ask for face cloth and hand towel first day. These were not always replaced daily.Sound proofing not adequate for speaker below our balcony.

Holiday Inn Ixtapa: Beautiful Ixtapa

My family and I just got back from our vacation in Ixtapa Mexico. Here is a breakdown of our thoughts on our stay: Location: What an amazing place. Every day was sunny with blue skies with no humidity. Unlike the unpredictability of the Riviera side weather wise, there was literally little to no clouds in the sky. I expected this however, given the Pacific coast tends to be like this. In addition, the culture is very present in Ixtapa--there is very little commercial tourism there. We really  [... read more]enjoyed the fact that many of our resident hotel friends were in fact native to Mexico--lots of beautiful families who were enjoying the area as much as we were. Lots of families so if you're looking for a quiet resort to go to--this one isn't it. Also, if you are expecting to go to a resort where the majority of the staff and surrounding market area shop owners speak English, it won't happen here. This wasn't a real problem for us however but it was a bit frustrating at times. Hotel: The Holiday Inn is a quaint and clean resort. There is a lot of space around the grounds and the rooms are very spacious (some of us even had a balcony). However, the hotel is very dated and the shower was problematic (sometimes the water would be scorching hot and the other times freezing with no hot--other times the pressure wasn't there). Our air conditioner literally blew up one day. However, the most important thing in my view is that it was exceptionally clean and the beds were comfortable (with no bed bugs). The area itself is beautiful. Stunning grounds, wonderful pool area right on the beach. Seriously the best pool area I've ever been to. Let's get to the food. Unfortunately, the buffet food at this resort was disappointing at best. The choices were awful and very limited (some of the items weren't even describable). You were ok at breakfast with the fruit, yogurt, fresh omelettes and hotcakes but lunch and dinner were just terrible. It took us a few days to figure out which of the three restaurants were best for lunch and dinner. What we found odd was that there was no sign of an avocado or guacamole anywhere! If you go to this resort--I highly recommend that you stay away from the Mexican fiesta night. The food was absolutely terrible. Cold and sloppy. It turns out that during the week days, the pool side restaurant was the best for lunch and dinner, in particular the dinners which were a la carte and really quite good. Good red wine too which was surprising. So if you head to this resort, I highly recommend sticking with the poolside restaurant (which is also ocean side so fabulous view!). The staff at the resort are friendly. They work hard and it shows. The pool area was so much fun. Everyone was having a blast. With a swim up bar and planned activities (you didn't have to join if you didn't want to) we just really enjoyed our time there later in the afternoons when the beach got really hot. The great thing is that the pool is right off the ocean so you always have the view and quick access. . The market area is so wonderful. There are plenty of great restaurants and shops (especially bathing suit shops!). We particularly enjoyed going to Franks (the owner is Canadian and the staff all speak English). My conclusion is that I do recommend this resort. However, it's a simpler aging resort with no bells and whistles and while everything was great, I'd have to give it a 3.5 because of the food issue and the fact that it is an aging hotel. I will return one day but the next time I won't do the all inclusive as the restaurants in the market are so much better and as far as the unlimited margaritas go--there is a super market right across the street that sells alcohol (cheap) to make your own drinks. My conclusion is that the weather, beach/pool and location are what makes this place a good place to go as it's spectacular. If you're looking for a quiet, fancy resort with excellent food and wine choices then this is not the place for you.

Krystal Ixtapa: "Standard vacation"- highs and lows

Beautiful location, the grounds were kept quite lovely. The hotel seems outdated (AND SO ARE THE BEDS AND AC!) Most of the staff were wonderful- Martin (server), we will miss you! Although there is a communication barrier, we managed to get by. If you are thinking of bringing kids, it seems friendly enough for your little ones (our kiddo stayed at home). We used safe for our personal items we didn't want to go MIA (you do have to ask for the safe key). I would give overall hotel experience 3/5.

Holiday Inn Ixtapa: Great vacation

I found the hotel very clean, the beach was beautiful, the staff was very friendly, and the food was good too. Rooms had minimalistic decor but were always well kept. Had an amazing time and would go back.

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Great Resort

This was a clean friendly resort with great rooms, food and service. Good for families as there is plenty to do for the kids. Handy bus service for getting into either Ixatapa or Zihuatanejo. Would go back here in a heartbeat.

Holiday Inn Ixtapa: An excellent vacation destination!

Holiday Inn Resort in Ixtapa had everything it promised... Well appointed rooms, great beds, large and delicious variety of foods, excellent beverages, and a very friendly, helpful staff. The natural beauty of the beach and sand was awesome. Across the street we had a good array of shops, restaurants and clubs. The price was right, and we will return. We would recommend the Tower/Ocean view.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Amazing resort

We just got back from Azul grand resort and let me tell you we had a great time. The rooms were nice and clean and big. (the only thing is that if you go with a buddy there no privacy cause the rooms are like open concept) but it was ok for us cause it was me and our young kids. The food was great and the service was amazing. We did a la carte every day except for the last day we did buffet. The grounds were very nice kept up and there was always some cleaning. The swimming pools were nice and  [... read more]clean and heated too. We go away a lot and I can't remember seen a life guard in every swimming pool which was great cause we had kids. Over all this was a great resort. Worth every penny.

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Excellent Family Resort

This is a great place for kids between 5-12. Excellent kids club and small water park. The food was above average; the oyster bar was our favorite. The cleaning staff, bartenders, waiters were great. Clean, bright and cheery with great weather. I recommend this place as a family destination.

Hotel Irma Zihuatanejo: Still our favourite

Fantastic view and location -- both from the comfortable rooms and the pool area -- plus stellar service. A great choice for those who prefer to be out and about on holiday, not at an all-inclusive resort.

Holiday Inn Ixtapa: Just right 😎

As return visitors to Ixtapa we were very pleasantly surprised by the Holiday Inn. The most outstanding feature of this resort is the staff! Without exception all were most helpful and eager to please. Special shout out to Keilen at the front desk,Adolph,Aden Carlos and Samuel,waiters and Hernando the chef who prepared a veritable feast from the fish that one of our group caught.The rooms were beautiful in the tower. A great feature was that the snack bar at the beach had made to order food not something that sat out in the sun all day. The fish tacos were amazing. We will be back!

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: A Nice Smaller Hotel in a Convenient Location

A little hotel on the long beach among several large hotels. Waves were big, tons of Pelicans diving. Lots of activities and hawkers on the beach but none were rude. Despite the busy beach, the hotel staff made us feel welcome and intimate. Perhaps it was because we did our best to speak and learn Spanish. The Sunset Grill was excellent. Drinks were spectacular. We give 5 stars to the staff and my husband still has a crutch on the house band's female singer.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: A great resort!

Everything was very clean, well maintained, staff was friendly and most accommodating. Food was delicious, good service, nice beach We enjoyed the entertainment A very happy stay! Highly recommended

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Sunscape Dorado....the name tells the story

I would start with a description or label for the staff at the Sunscape Golden......Excellent!!!!! Smiles and Yes are abound, very professional. Located mid centre of a mile long beautiful white sand beach on approx 5 acres of well maintained palm adorned property. Not a mega hotel while still offering ample features. Multiple pools, bars,and eating areas all above average. Tennis,trampoline,basketball,volleyball,and fitness centre for the restless and lots of sunny or shady areas to lounge for  [... read more]the restful. Dining is suited to accommodate most all pallets,both indoors or on outdoor patios. The 24 hr coffee and pastry bar....Brilliant. No wrist band! Loved it!!!! Finally found a place for a real vacation without a kings ransom price.

Krystal Ixtapa: Disappointing

The first night was so noisy from the fans outside. The plumbing was in poor condition. Almost all the food was catered to Mexican taste. Service was better for the locals. Far to few outdoor recliners. Not impressed with this hotel at all. I would give it 2 stars. Not a place I would return too.

Krystal Ixtapa: Good Value

The Room was simple but clean. When you opened the curtain to the double wide patio door and let the amazing view into the room, the room was spectacular. Truly breathtaking. I was happy with the simplicity of the hotel, but if you are looking for a lot of variation, activities, this hotel may not be for you. The Air Canada rep Alex was extremely helpful and dedicated to making our stay wonderful. The weather for February was perfect. Not overly hot but great. Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Perfect

This was the perfect place for a holiday with my two adult daughters. Of course, the weather is always perfect in Mexico at this time of year. But the hotel, as well, was great. The rooms were very comfortable. The food was delicious. The staff were wonderful. And it was great to be able to sit at a pool without children.

Las Brisas Ixtapa: Unique but Amazing!!

If you want total relaxation, then this resort is for you!!! You never have to worry about saving lounge chairs no matter what part of the day it is. The views on this resort are breathtaking, especially in the lobby bar. This resort is all about service, thus, you just can't walk up to a bar and get a drink, they will bring it to you quickly!! We spent most of our time in the pool area and Jorge and Victor are probably the two best waiters I have ever come across since I have been visiting [... read more] all parts of Mexico the past 10 years. The 3 al la carte restaurants are very good, especially the Las Brisas II where you can watch the beautiful sunset. You can walk into town which takes 10 minutes but coming back you may want to take a cab (which is cheap by the way) because it is a steep climb up back into the resort. We love Ixtapa but we especially like Zihuatanejo for its awesome restaurants and Mexican culture. Finally, a big thanks to Tracy at Trip Central in making this trip a very special one for us!!

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Perfectly Ok

I thought this hotel was fine. Room was clean and food was good. Pools are clean and the bar service around them was pretty good. Staff were helpful and friendly. Make sure you check what your getting with your room booking so no surprises at check in...All in all we were generally pleased.
