Le Beach Hotel: Lovely Hotel

The hotel was clean and quiet. Small but nice beach area. Great location to walk to the local store and a short walk to Marigot to take in the Marina Royal, great places to eat and the market. Overall the stay was very nice. The breakfast is the same everyday and has limited selection. Was thankful for hard boiled eggs as the scrambled eggs were not to our liking. Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Great resort

The staff was very friendly and we had excellent service. We enjoyed the live music that we had most nights. We even had bar service on the beach. We had a good selection of food and it was not only well presented but it was also very good.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Sonesta Maho, St. Martens

The Sonesta Maho is becoming a very tired resort. It is apparent that they are trying to cut costs, and it is hurting the quality of the vacation. The food was far from satisfactory, and the selection of beer was poor. I have stayed at this resort in the past and it is not nearly as good now as it used to be. The only good thing about the Sonesta Maho is the location.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Most Disgruntled Staff Ever

I just returned from my all-inclusive vacation in St. Martins at the Sonesta Maho Beach. I'll start by saying the staff from the flight and the Novex staff were great but the staff from the resort were terrible, I've been to a lot of resorts and usually take two trips a year and I have to say that is the worst resort I've been to, mainly because of the staff there. They were very unprofessional and not at all friendly, my friend who i met there asked one of the bartenders to make her a mojito [... read more] and he said no because it takes to long, that being just one example of many. It was the smallest buffet I've ever seen with the same crappy food dat after day and we could only get two alacartes at the end of the trip because it was booked solid and some people couldn't get any. My room was facing onto a rooftop that housed a disco, so i had to sleep with earplugs every night. There was pretty much no beach it could only hold about 20 people and the waves washed there stuff away all the time so we had to go to another beach and pay for chairs and umbrellas I also went to the sister resort for the day (sonesta great bay) and the staff were super friendly and attentive. At our resort we would wait in line for an half an hour and when we get there they would say we're going to lunch. They would have events and we would be pushed out of the limited area we had looking onto the ocean. I talked to another couple and they said they were there two years ago and the food and staff were great, they said it went from a four star to a two star resort since then. The resort was understaffed and you were always waiting. Like I said I've been to many resorts and realize everything is not going to be perfect so I don't usually sweat the little things and just have a good time, but there was just to many things wrong with this resort not to say something and this is the first time that I've ever actually wrote to complain about a resort because I don't have the time or the patience to do so but I made an exception for this one mainly because of the unfriendliness of the staff.

Le Beach Hotel: good location

we were disappointed to not get the room we requested and were too tired to make a fuss when we arrived but are very happy now with our new beachfront vs pool front room. Staff are very nice and the hotel while not on the best beach has a good bar and diningroom and is well located close to the thick of things in Marigot. We have a car so taking off to one of the multiple lovely beaches on the island is not a problem. Would recommend a car if you are a beach lover and are staying here. St [... read more] Martin is a fun happening place and feels like the south of France. The very best pizza in town can be had from the pizza truck in the square close to the main marketplace and the station It even has a wood fired oven. He's there every day except Mondays.

Le Beach Hotel: Acceptable Resort

The Le Beach resort should be taken in context of its surroundings. In February it was hot, very humid and frequently sporadic rain (combination of sea and mountains). The whole island is a bit of a tourist trap, with high prices, few options, but if one has the time and inclination, lower prices (as much as 75%) are available. The building is old and needs upgrades, while the hotel "nickles and dimes" you on every step (beach towel replacement - $1 each time; coffee - $2.50; resort fee - $5  [... read more]pp, per day; water - $3 large bottle - all in US). Room Wi-Fi does not work, have to go into assembly area, while only CNN was available in English). Nearby restaurants serve very good food; hotel food is so-so. Car rental -$40 first day, $20 for second). Location is excellent. Front desk is very good, life however is measured on "Caribbean time" - slow. My rating - 2.5*. One of cheapest hotels in the area. Other Caribbean communities may be better.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Must see the airplanes at Maho Beach!

My girlfriend and I had a great time staying at the Sonesta Maho in late January. The food was some of the best I've had at any all inclusive resort. Watching the planes flying overhead at the public beach right next to the hotel was amazing! We also rented a small car from Hertz located directly in the hotel lobby. Skip the excursions and rent a car to explore the island! We also took a bus down to the sister resort in Philipsburg and spent a full day there. It's a great way to see Philipsb [... read more]urg and Great Bay without opening up your wallet for drinks and lunch (which in our experience was quite expensive on the island). Before going you should be aware that the beach directly at the resort is very small, so you should plan to walk about 1 minute down the beach to the public section to swim. There is a sandy area built above a sea wall directly at the resort to bask in the sun if you wish. You can also walk down about 10 minutes in the other direction to Mullet Bay - in my opinion the best beach on the island. Mullet Bay can be calm for excellent snorkelling some days and rough with 6ft waves other days for surfing! $15USD to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for the day. The nightlife in Maho is fantastic. Be aware if you're staying on the island view side of the hotel that you will hear the sounds of the nightlife until the wee hours of the morning. Upgrade to the pool/ocean view if you plan on heading back to your room early every night to sleep. We had a great time exploring the beautiful towns and beaches of St Maarten and plan on staying at the Sonesta Maho the next time we're down!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Loved Maho even more!!!

Very nice renovation, new food varieties were excellent, staff were attentive to our needs. The entertainment at night was now geared more for adults, much appreciated, house keeping was amazing, loved the new coffee machines with cappuccino etc.

Palace St. Martin: Great Resort

Great hotel location, room need update carpet should be replace and AC clean because there is mossy smell at time in the room , but the bathroom very nice and modern, size of room is great with very little upgrade it would be perfect. Night entertainment is great on some night but the rest of time it is dancer or the guest that make the evening entertainment . There is a local band that came on one night and it was awesome. Esmeralda Resort: Decent 4 Star Resort

The room we stayed in was very spacious with a separate bedroom and living/dining area, as well as a small kitchen. It was clean enough, but nicer furniture wouldn't hurt. Only complaints would be uncomfortable bedding and non existent shower pressure and it took forever for the water to warm up. Nothing that would ruin a vacation by any means, but areas that would benefit from improvement. The breakfast which was included only includes croissant, bread, fruit and mediocre coffee. Espresso or [... read more] Cappucinno is a 4 euro extra charge, which is kind of cheap. The beach is a couple minutes walk from the rooms which is nice. When you get to the beach, guests of the hotel are allowed beach chairs/umbrella at no charge if you take a back row. If you want unobstructed view of the ocean, they charge 20 euro. Also, if you want to bring your own drinks/snacks to the beach....no dice. You can only enjoy beach bar/resto at high cost. Overall, nice resort and we really enjoyed our stay.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Lovely Island, nice resort but could be better

The resort is nice but could be so much better. Small things were lacking but the rooms were clean and sufficient sized. The one major disappointment was the food; salads in particular. We have travelled a lot and have always found a wide range of salads available at both the buffet and a la cart restaurants. Here the salad was plain iceberg lettuce with only cucumber slices and tomato wedges for adding. There were no additional salads offered. Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Good and Bad

The staff at this resort are exceptional. With few exceptions the staff were highly competent, friendly and helpful. The exception being the guy providing drink service at the beach. The food was the best I've had at an all inclusive. The hot stone cooking, the wood fired pizza oven and the buffet were all wonderful. The hotel room was lacking in quality with issues such as a bathroom floor drain that smelled, a bathtub setup that was dangerous ( big step down) and pipes that leaked throu [... read more]gh the ceiling from above.

Esmeralda Resort: disappointing !

WITHOUT PREJUDICE : We have been going to Saint Martin since 1994. Our last visit was at La Samana, 7 years ago and it was great but we missed the Orient Beach atmosphere. Having visited Esmeralda while vacationing elsewhere on Orient Bay, we decided this year to book two weeks at this resort. To put it kindly, the resort needs a lot of loving care and and renos.The pictures on their website are probably dated back to when it opened some 25-30 years ago. The second week we were there, we requested on numerous occasions that the problem be resolved but to no avail. On the fourth day of our complaints, finally the assistant director,Audrey was on site and she immediately took control of the situation and sent maintenance people to inspect and try and correct the problem. We even changed rooms but the problem persisted. Finally on the day we were packing our suitcases, we saw a family of mice running along in the bedroom and kitchen..... We had other minor issues such as exterior night lighting not working that was never attended to etc. Again, very disappointing indeed !

Sonesta Maho Beach: Last minute Vacay!!!

My family and myself just recently spent our winter xmas break in St. Martens at The Sonesto Maho Beach Resort. As always no resort is perfect. There are some good and some bad about Sonesto but all in all we did have a enjoyable vacation and would suggest it to friends and family for a good, value friendly, family oriented and right in the heart of Maho kind of resort. With the continuing rennovations it should turn into a great little resort!

Sonesta Maho Beach: Great place overall

There are two things that could do with improvements: 1. The latest renovation left some rooms with water from the shower flooding the bathroom, instead of flowing into the drain! 2. The beach is abrupt and rocky

Sonesta Maho Beach: Nice resort

Our recent stay at Sonesta Maho Beach was very good. It started out bad as we got to our room to discover there was only one queen size bed (for 4 people). I had to go back to reception and of course they did not have anything available right away. The young woman at the reception was really nice and a couple hours after was able to give us a renovated room with two beds on upper floor. The food was really good and tasty. Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Could be better for the price we paid.

Rooms - overall clean and linen/towels very clean. Room Beds - Not good. We first had a room on the hill side which we changed after two days due to roosters. No big deal, we upgraded to a beach view room on the other side of the hotel which was quiet but the beds’ mattresses were old and sunken in, an impediment to get a good sleep. Room Washroom - There was a rusted metal bar on the ceiling on top of the bath tub and the ceiling was damaged by water leak, not very reassuring, we wee worr [... read more]y that the entire ceiling may collapse while we are taking a shower. Room Service - Very good. Restaurants: Lobby Restaurant - Very good. BBQ and Buffet Restaurants – breakfast, deserts and the chicken good but other food not so good. - More food variety would be appreciated. - Fish soup missing, we went outside the hotel and we had good fish soups - Fruits and Vegetables not mature enough, no taste at all. Resort: - The bathrooms on the beach, and in the lower level of the lobby were smelly, not enough air exchange probably, the only choices we had was to use the washroom in the lobby or go back to our room. - There was something wrong with the stairs down from the lobby, not sure what, either the height or the width were not to standards. Few time my husband and I almost fail down. - The hotel VIP services were not clear to other guests. The front row beach chairs were all the time taken and there was no label on the umbrellas or on the chairs to let other guest know that the chairs are reserved. Every day someone was kicked out and moved to another umbrella on the back rows. People were not happy about this, they were talking among themselves. - The showers on the beach and on the pool area were not efficient, not enough water pressure and they had no spouts for the feet area. We were trying not to get the sand from the beach into the pool area but we could not wash our feet very well. - We went to a fishing trip through the guest services that was very unpleasant. The weather was not too good and I think the trip should be cancelled or postponed when the weather is not appropriate. Too much wind to be safe. We have been in many of these fishing trips in other islands such as Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and others but we never had such a scary experience. I know it is a lot of money for the owners of the boats but the hotel somehow should control their decisions to go out when it is dangerous. For the first time in 40 years of vacationing and fishing in the sea we got sick and came back with lots of bruises from being on the boat. Very bad experience, we were lucky a misfortune did not happen. Most of the people working there were nice to us. Regards.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Nice Resort

Hotel is a bit dated but kept clean ... beach and pool area very welcoming... Restaurants limited on site .. restaurant on lobby level was very nice ..restrictions for outdoor bed usage ridiculous considering no elite were using them ....need music played around the pool areas not just the swim up bar...nite time entertainment almost non-existent....thank god for the casino ! Overall rating out if ten ... 6

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Outstanding!

I have vacationed at this hotel for the last 10 years and I think that says it all. While it isn't the most modern of hotels, it has the most accommodating, professional and friendliest staff of anywhere in Sint Maarten. La Plantation: A Welcome Break from the Standard All Inclusive!

We have done many all inclusives and wanted something different. Last yr we stayed in Jamaica at a 48 room villa, really enjoyed it and wanted that same experience. Thanks to Jairus at Trip Central, we discovered La Plantation. I don't really want to make this a great review as we would prefer to keep this place to ourselves, but they deserve the recognition. RESORT: Very peaceful. Clean. Comfortable bed/pillows. Air conditioned. Close to everything you need. Staff very helpful and nice. Renta [... read more]l car at the front desk and you are in the car in 20 minutes and good price. Pool/lounging area is updated, clean, relaxing. Its a 5 minute walk to the beach and its beautiful all sand and clean.Complimentary Beach chairs, all were good, we recommend Kontiki. A 7 min walk to grocery, liquor, shops, restaurants. EXPLORE:Get a car, put on your bathing suit and tshirt and explore. Oyster Bay, beautiful beach, go to Mr Buzby's, great food. Grand Case, Lolo's restaurants and others, great food, and out back the beach/lagoon all sand beautiful. Road to Butterfly farm is a quiet beach, restaurant/bar. Anse Marcel, small beach, picturesque. Many others we didn't get to. We didn't do any excursions, we will take these next time. THE BAD: We had to come home. THE GOOD: It ticked all the boxes. All the great reviews were right! We're going back!
