Amazing, beautiful resort.

The resort was always clean, if it rained someway was their sweeping up the puddles, the staff was very polite and friendly, never pushy on tips, always there if you need anything. If you wanted to just relax you could just do that. Yes it is a huge resort, but it never felt that way. If you want to walk the grounds you could, if you were tired of walking there was a trolly that ran up and down. I would go back and recommend anyone else this resort.

The hotel is very nice if you like big resotrs

The service was great. The only complaint there was no wash towels. The reastaurants have great food. The lobby has coffee and tea and great entertainment. I will go back this was my second time at this resort.

Amazing resort

Great resort. Had the Diamond club booking (great service) which gives room close to beach n Mexican restaurant. Pay more but worth it. Get up to 4 bookings at a la Carte :) - Le Gourmet was best. Buffet good selection. Beach excellent, clean. Find chairs close to beach bar by 745am for good selection. Staff friendly overall. Did excursion to Saona Island - fab day - bring $ for massage n photo package. bus service is excellent throughout resort! Caribbean party fun $ Privilege club is bothersome when I want to spend time on beach not getting sales job and get calls at room. Stay away from the people in lobby who want to 'give' free stay/gifts. they get painful.

OUSTANDING RESORT

THE RESORT WAS VERY CLEAN, PEOPLE GREAT, FOOD GREAT, WEATHER GREAT, LOTS OF ACTIVITY, BEACH WAS BEAUTFUL, IT IS VERY NICE THAT THE RESORT HAS MANY DIFFRENT AREAS FOR YOU TO JUST SIT AND RELAX. FIGHTS WE ON TIME.

Wonderful vacation

This was our second time to this resort. It is very large so make sure you do your homework before you book as you may be disappointed as to where you end up The Gran Bahia is broken up into 5 -6 sections. .Also make sure you speak to someone that has been there, so that you are getting the right info. The food is good and the people are very nice.We plan on going back next year

Fabulous Holiday!!!

My wife and I spent 7 perfect days at this resort. We loved the grounds, the beach, the pools, the service and the food was top shelf !!! We are already planning our trip for the same time next year.

Excellent Service

Stayed for a week over Christmas. The grounds are meticulously kept but are large and meandering to say the least. The resort is beautiful and the service was excellent. Food was plentiful and good quality. A few bugs at night but nothing a little bug spray can't handle. Beach was pretty well unusable because of seaweed but I think that is just due to the time of year. All in all a good place to go.

Awsome resort

Great hotel, clean room, airport very helpful people, walking distance to go at the buffet and we were also walking distance to the beach and if you dont want to walk you can get a ride we enjoyed playing volleyball. Great buffet for breakfast never have to wait to get food and there is always lot. The only thing that I could say that the resort could improve on is that they could remind people about some of the free stuff that oeople can do such as the tennis court etc. We always left some if our stuff at the beach and nobody ever stole anything great place to relax

Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana

For the cost of this vacation, I was not happy with any of the services. Housekeeping missed filling our amenities and didn't take any extra time to dress up the room at all. I stopped tipping after 2 days. Several times we had to take our drinks back to have them remade. Food although very edible, was hit or miss. The sun quest rep was misleading, gave us useless advice and was no where to be found to help us with our shuttle and departure times. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort. They need to step up their game.

Beautiful beach

Our stay at the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro was over all good.... The food and al a cartes were all good. I booked the al a cartes at home but didn't get confirmation till at the hotel...The Japanese was very good. The Tex mex was very good. As for the Gourmet was slow and 2 couples left but we decided to stay and the meal ended up being worth it.. The dining service was excellent. I sent my request for our third floor room and did receive my request. Our maid service was excellent. Although the [... read more] front desk has some hick ups and were to lazy to check to see if we were returning customers from Ambar and after sending many family and friends there over the years was disappointing. This hotel is very large and manages the customers pretty good. Because it is so large could account for 2 of the rudest service people we have experienced over the years. The front desk and the towel return. Yet we would not let that spoil our time there. We started traveling to Dominican Republic 20 years ago and return at least once a year and love what the Bahia hotels have to offer.... The hotel does a great job on food, clean buffet, has clean rooms, clean pools, and a beautiful beach. Plenty of beach towels and lawn beds. The bar service was excellent. Over all the people in the hotel work very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I just wish they would make it easier to get larger bills exchanged to smaller bills so the people serving could get what is due. As so many times our servers fell short as we didn't have small bills and the front desk just wouldn't or didn't have change. There are ways around it like the luggage guys, the bar guys usually have small bills but just seems like a we are always on the search for small bills.. Hope to return again next year.... Our stay was great large property but the tram cars are get you around service was great, rooms clean and nice lots of huts on the beach and pool no towel game needed ride for airport 30 minutes ..just go have fun

Huge resort

Great resort. Food was great everywhere except the 24/7 a la a carte that was hot dogs and hamburgers mostly. Bring comfortable shoes if u want to see lots or take the bus throughout the resort. It comes every 10 mins. The tapanyaki al la carte and garden grill were amazing. I loved how you can have access to all the other resorts and shows with some limitations. We paid extra for Bavaro vs. punts and it was the same thing.. The lounge in bavaro is a little nicer but u have acces to both lounge [... read more]s anyways. Also the safe is $4 per night... Very misleading. Our room has lights not working and they couldn't fix them. People are not really happy to serve and sometimes we would order a drink and they wouldn't get it. The lounge is dead by 11.. Great for families. There is a club and another liver are on the punts Cana side where the shops are.

Great vacation but a bit misleading

It's not 2 resorts in 1 like we were told. It's actually 4 resorts all together Bavaro, punta canta, Esmeralda and ambar. Bavaro and punta Cana are mirror versions of each other but they are not beach front properties like described by west jet on trip central. They are the first resorts as you pull up to the properties and then ambar and Esmeralda are the resorts that sit right behind them on the beach. This was very disappointing as it made for a super long walk to the beach from Bavaro becaus [... read more]e it was not beachfront/directly on the beach. They had shuttles, but there were a few times where we had to wait for 15-20 min for it to pick us up. Travelling with a 7 month old and a stroller made getting on and off the shuttles difficult. Had we known that the resort was that far from the beach we would not have booked this resort. My parents also booked with us but not through trip central. We each emailed the resort prior to book our a la carte restaurants. When we got there they did not have the correct reservations for my husband and I and didn't have any at all for my parents. The lobby shuts down promptly at 11pm, they even turn off all the lights. There is also a LOT of smokers in this area which is unpleasant if travelling with a baby. A lot of Mosquitos in our room every single day. My parents had 2 cockroaches in their room, we had connecting rooms on the ground floor. Initially we were on the 3rd floor and after we checked in and got to our rooms, my parents room had a flood and maintenance workers were in their room. Not sure why they would allow us to go to the room if it wasn't ready. Then our room keys didn't work. It took a while before we were able to get into our rooms. Food was decent. Lots of selection with the buffet and a la carte restaurants were good. Service was great, staff are very prompt and friendly. There is absolutely no difference between Bavaro and punta Cana. Punta Cana was much cheaper when we booked but we didn't realize this. Overall we had a good time but the resort not being directly on the beach was very misleading and disappointing. Grounds are beautiful, beach is beautiful (a lot of sea weed), pools are great.

Disappointed

I stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe chain before (Jamaica) and I had really liked it. Having recently stayed at the Punta Cana Bavaro location I was Not impressed. The food options were horrible, service was poor, beach had too much seaweed which was annoying. Pool was great and the location was close to airport about 20mins so not too bad. You would think for a hotel that boast of being a 5 star they would maintain that "image". it was not fun going to eat and not enjoying. Hotel was way too h [... read more]uge!

Very enjoyable!

Had a very enjoyable week at the Bahia! With the multiple pools and the beach, there are lots of options. There is an animation team who keep everyone entertained (Jhonny & Cowboy). Food is good, lots of options. Definitely would return.

Ok

Resort was bit too large. The food was ok, expected much better varieties. Disappointed when told we can only book one la a cart per week. One week was too long a stay as we were disappointed with the overall stay.

The good the bad and the ugly!

The overall resort was beautiful, very clean. My biggest problem was the food everything was undercooked in the buffet. Also, there were many catches such as a la carte is only avail at the end of your vacay (they lie and say they are fully booked). After a certain time of day the staff are told to hide ketchup! ( I had to beg waiter to sneak some). Besides that it's a nice resort but a lot of kids! If you're looking for a private getaway this is not the place!

Grand Bahia Principe Resort Review

We enjoyed the resort. The resort is well maintained, clean. There was a problem with the toilets...flushing issues. When we first arrived our villa was not cleaned...it had a foul smell going up the stairs but as more people came in the week, it had been cleaned. We had the Royal Golden suites but the rooms were exactly the same. VIP room gave us a safety deposit box, room services which was slow, the services we received as VIP did not make much difference in our trip. The cleaning services so [... read more]metimes didn't come until the evening of the following day...having clean towels was an issue. Service regarding beach towel could be improved. We enjoyed the pools, the beach had too much seaweed. Lot of seaweed that was on the shoreline made it difficult to walk along the beach without getting little sticks caught in your feet. When we first arrived the dining services were efficient. We got seated quickly and service was good. As the week progressed the service got worse. Dining a la carte at French and Italian restaurant was excellent. I also did not like the number of presentations we had to attend e.g. Privilege Club, Timeshare, Lifeshare. There should be a way to tell them you are not interested before you arrive so they don't keep intruding on your vacation.

Great food, beautiful resort & beach

This was our 7th trip to Punta Cana - 3rd stay at the Bahia. The resort is clean and very well maintained, the staff are friendly and willing to help when they can, the food is excellent and abundant, the beach is beautiful soft white sand and you can walk for miles in either direction. We found lounge chairs easily on the beach and there was plenty of shade. There was not enough restrooms at the beach - always a line up at the 2 we found. We tried to make our 3 a-la-carte restaurant reservations as soon as we arrived but there was nothing before 10pm - too late for dinner for us. We were put on a waiting list and we did manage to get into the Japanese and Beach BBQ with short notice.

Great resort!

The food was delicious, the rooms were alright, can't complain, the resort was well kept. The beach was not the clearest of waters, and it's not a place for those looking for luxury. We really enjoyed our stay, except for the topless tanners, I had two young boys with me.
