Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Antigua is beautiful
Hotel needs a little tender loving care, a little old, overall rooms are kept clean, maids did a great job.
Service was lacking a bit but most tried to do keep up with serving you. Bartenders could have better service. You can tell who enjoy there jobs I would say 3/4 of the service was good.
Can’t remember the one server who served us in the Caribbean restaurant and then she was serving in the steakhouse had 16 years experience and told me she loved her job….you could tell she definitely ha[... read more]d the customer service I was expecting.
Excursion we were on was amazing the 3 who were on the boat made our experience one to remember. We were taken around all of Antigua swam with the stingrays had lunch, snorkeled it was well worth the money. Our guides were great, Brandon Tyris, and Kimba new how to make the trip a lot of fun Thanks guys

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Royalton Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba – A Sunny Slice of Paradise
Travel Dates: May 17–24, 2025
Travelers: My husband and I
“They say laughter is the best medicine—unless you’re at an all-inclusive, then it’s probably the piña coladas.”
Resort Overview
Royalton Cayo Santa Maria is a spacious, beautifully maintained resort with plenty of room to roam. From lush grounds to a beachside bar and a 24-hour snack shack, there’s no shortage of places to explore—or eat!
Food & Drink
• Buffet & À la Carte: Great variety—fish, chicken, lobster, meats, fresh v[... read more]eggies, fruit, yogurt, and juices. Presentation was top-notch. Hats off to the chefs!
• Snack Bar: Open 24/7 with pizza, burgers, fries, hot dogs, and other quick bites. Perfect for a midday nibble or late-night craving.
• Bars: Fully stocked with a wide selection of alcohol. No shortages here—cheers to that!
Accommodations
• Spacious ocean-view room with bathrobes and slippers—a classy touch!
• Everything functioned well, though some furnishings could use a refresh.
• Two large pools with bars, loungers, and cabanas made for perfect lazy afternoons.
Beach & Activities
• The beach is stunning—wide, clean, and perfect for sunbathing.
• Daily activities included stretching, games, and surprise snacks like mini sandwiches and fruit salad served in spoons. A delightful way to stay energized!
• Animator shout-outs:
o Blanca – You rocked that dance party!
o Yadian (hope we spelled that right!), Meliza, and Karelys and one more guy whose name we didn’t capture (sorry!) – Your energy could wake the dead. Seriously, you all were amazing!
? Diamond Club Perks
As Diamond Club members, we were treated to butler service — and it was fantastic.
• Javier – You’re basically a vacation ninja. One moment we’re wondering where to find something, and poof!—there you are, smiling, cracking a joke, and making it happen like magic. Your cheerful energy and sixth sense for guest needs made us feel like royalty (but with better cocktails!).
• Maria Rosa – Thank you for your kindness, patience, and always being ready with a helpful answer and a warm smile. You made everything smoother and more enjoyable.
Together, you two turned great service into something truly memorable. We felt so well cared for—and genuinely appreciated.
Service - That Sparkled (and Folded!)
Room service was prompt, courteous, and always on point—but one star shone extra bright:
• Hayulis – You’re not just a housekeeping pro, you’re a towel origami artist! The adorable towel creatures you left in our room were so good, they practically needed their own Instagram account. (Seriously, one of them got more likes than my beach selfie. Rude, but fair.)
• Staff across the resort were friendly and professional., and always ready with a smile. It felt like everyone was on a mission to make our stay unforgettable… and they succeeded!
Final Thoughts
This was our second stay at Royalton Cayo Santa Maria, and it won’t be our last. Despite Cuba’s economic challenges, the resort delivers a high-quality experience with charm, efficiency, and heart.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, indulge, and maybe dance a little on the beach.

The resort is quite small which I like it. The services from butler’s, restaurants, bars, room attendants and beach personnel are amazing. They will do as much as they can to provide you and exceptional service.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Beautiful Setting, But Fell Short of Expectations
We recently stayed at the Royalton Antigua and had an overall enjoyable vacation. The beach was stunning, the weather was perfect, and we appreciated the efforts of several friendly staff members. The resort's location offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere.
However, despite these positives, we left feeling underwhelmed. Given the Royalton's branding and its affiliation with Marriott's Autograph Collection, we anticipated a higher standard of service and amenities. Unfortunately, c[... read more]ertain aspects did not meet these expectations.
Dining experiences were inconsistent; We were unable to make reservations at some restaurants and told they were booked to find out others had no problem accommodating them. We were told someone would help us with our luggage while checking out and no one showed up. Having elderly parents carry their luggage down 5 flights of stairs since the elevator was out.
While these issues didn't ruin our trip, they did detract from the overall experience. We had a good time but wouldn't choose to return to this particular resort. For travelers seeking a five-star experience, it might be worth exploring other options in Antigua.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: beautiful resort but not the friendliest staff
The hotel facilities were wonderful and the beach area was beautiful but a lot of the staff were extremely moody and unapproachable. The restaurants weren't open everyday and we were asked to make reservations thru their onsite app that didn't work most of the time and when you went to book with the hotel concierge it took forever. When we did get into the restaurants the wait was always very long and when your food came it was always cold or not what the description said it was. Half of the t[... read more]ime they did not have alcohol or could not make you any tropical drinks because of a lack of menu and because the machine wasn't working or they ran out of rum. We kept asking for bottled water and were always told that we had to call down to get some and that they did not have any at the restaurants. This was surprising because we were told that our mini bar would be re-stocked everyday with water, etc. This was not the case, we had to call every day to make sure they brought us more water. Most of the places that were suppose to be open late were not and when you asked staff questions they responded with annoyance and usually didn't have any answers. I also was surprised that our transfer and tour operator didn't give us any information about the island on our way to the resort or provide us with an orientation onsite to book excursion, etc. Most all inclusives' have someone onsite who tells you what excursions are available and what they recommend when you get there. Neither the driver or the check in person said anything about this to anyone. I was a bit disappointed in this vacation. The island was pretty but i would not recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. There were a select few people working on the resort that were amazing but in general the people were unhappy, lazy and unwilling to help with anything.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great Resort, but put in wrong room
When we showed up to the resort at 9:30pm we found out we were in a single bed room without a pull out couch. We had to fight for a different room the next day. We have a 6'2 13yr old and a 3yr old.
The rest of the trip was great, the resort was awesome.
Beach is terrible.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing Beach!
Beach was great. Staff was very helpful. Somewhat of a maze of buildings but eventually figured out how to get around. Food was as good or better than other 4- and 5-star resorts in Mexico or the Dominican, etc. Caribe and the Pearl where the best food of all. I was able to get in to them without being a Diamond Club member. Had to wait 1/2 hour or 45 minutes but went early enough to get my reservation in and then go for some drinks. I would definitely return

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Stay away from this resort
Value proposition? Zero
HUGELY Overpriced for what they can deliver. Stayed at Hidaway Diamond Club - top tier price for a two-star motel quality. Daily struggle to get your room clean (forget about turndown service), VERY dated furniture and rooms desperately needing a complete renovation (shower drain covers missing, handles of the shower valves falling out, grime and calcium buidup on the "rain" shower heads, one of the bathroom sinks constantly clogging, closet doors "partially" working, th[... read more]e same with the balcony doors). The Front Line staff - FANTASTIC, the management - utter failure, not caring, not giving a damn, wholly dedicated to push their version of a "vacation club." Add to this the fact that they are extremely short-staffed, old dingy beach towels (that are constantly in short supply), room towels that were at one point white, but not in recent history, Old, breaking down beach loungers, beach bars that looks like they might present some health/safety hazards. One thing is for sure: we will never stay in the Royalton property again.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Just ok
Ok for Cuba. Royalton has a good reputation and we have been in a few of their different locations. So generally when we choose our destination, Royalton is the first one we consider. We love Cuba, the people and Varadero beach is one of a kind.
Positive for Hotel, really liked the service offered by Rene and Roberto to be the point of contact. The information they offered were extremely helpful. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea
Main areas of the hotel kept clean, and maintained. The [... read more]stair cases and hallways of the building we stayed wasn’t clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating if they were given tips except the bartenders and servers at the main bar. They were not happy even with the tip. Not approachable. Not friendly. Lots of attitude It seemed they really didn’t want to be there except only one short hair blond lady server a bit older. She was smiling and super nice. It seemed the young dark hair server and the bar tenders needed a bit of a pick me up drinks or we didn’t tip enough - not sure what the issue was !!
Negative : supplies - No one goes to Cuba for food and this is not our first time going to Cuba either and we are fully aware of the economic hardship over there but if you are running a resort in Cuba you have to at least have some fruits. The fruits being sold by the farmers in town were great and it seemed they had plenty. Not sure how the Royalton can’t afford a ripe Papaya, and watermelon or enough supplies of mangos.
Overall the hotel was good unfortunately won’t go back to Cuba for various reasons but if we did, we probably choose Royalty again.
Also our arrival time was late , past midnight, the service could have been a bit better. We had to carry our own luggages to our building which was far. A buggy ride would have been useful

Royalton Hideaway Saint Lucia: Royalton st. lucia
Excellent property, great staff, location is far from the airport about 90 minutes using the back roads. Rooms are cleaned and so is the resort, Food is good both at the buffet and a la carte restaurant, room service was also delicious for breakfast. Beach is nice, cleaned never a problem getting lounge chairs. We’re beach people and this was a really small one compared to other islands we have visited before.
But overall it was an amazing vacation

Full disclosure. We treated ourselves to a bungalow for our 20th anniversary. Stunning set up.
We enjoyed all aspects of our stay and the resort. We didn't enjoy the Hunter restaurant. Didn't try the buffet but loved the carribean and Italian restaurants.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Good resort, could be great
Just returned from our stay in Grenada. Hotel is located in a beautiful setting with gorgeous grounds and nice beach. There is a lot of coral so some parts are hard to use. Resort is clean and rooms are moderate. Here is where our issue was... Food and service were not up to Royalton standards. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Time
The Royalton was a nice resort to spend our time. The beach other than Royalton patrons was very quiet and empty. It seemed the other resorts had much less travellers. The food was fine and they made extra effort on our last night which was greatly appreciated. Staff was friendly and accommodating with all request, except one. Beach was beautiful the water was very wavy as the winds were strong for the entire week we were there 20 plus kph. The attached market connecting to memories was [... read more]almost deserted everyday due to the lack of visitors. I was disappointed given my late flight at 4:50pm that they didn't accommodate for my request for a later check out. Currently having a medical issue to manage, resting is very important and this request was denied and absolutely no extension was provided. This made my trip home more difficult. Given that i came on a late checkin past 9pm and cleaning staff work until 5pm. This didn't see reasonable to me. The night entertainment was typical of resorts with one night being much better than the others. The resorts needs some upkeep especially bathrooms near the quiet pool. Overall we had a lovely time.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Nice resort but definitely not a five star
I stayed at this resort from March 31st to April 7th. I do believe in doing reviews as i do use them to determine if i want to go to them.
THE GOOD- simple, easy check in and out, nice property and close to the airport to reduce your bus time (both to and from). I was upgraded to ground floor with swim out area but didn't use. I felt the swim area was not practical for our use. Also too close to your neighbor so no real privacy if you wanted it. Buffet was very large and lots of variety[... read more] of foods which i consider standard to most other resorts. The service and staff in the buffet was very good. Not sure if many people tip the staff but they do a very good job.
THE BAD - the terrible smell in most areas is present. i did see this in previous reviews but not sure what causes this. It also appeared in the buffet on one side. Pool chairs and umbrellas is a serious problem. This is a problem for most of the day as this resort does not manage towels with towel cards. You can get as many towels as you want and reserve chairs in various areas. I did notice that many of the chairs next to us were never used but had towels placed on them early in the morning. This seems to be a problem in most resorts but more noticeable at this one. I did walk to the Diamond Club pool and Hideaway adult area and it seemed very crowded and also no chairs available early in the day. It was very windy all week so there were not many people at the beach. There were many chairs available which explains the crowded pools and lack of chairs. As this is a very large hotel, i am not sure if this problem goes away. The process for booking the A la carts is very disappointing. this is done by using an App on your phone and really doesn't work. When i tried to book, my option was for dinner at the steak house at 9 or 9:30pm. Really doesn't work for me. When i walked by the Hunter steak house the next day, i asked a staff member that was outside the restaurant (it is a buffet in the morning as well) the nice lady said only bookings can be done by the app. An employee that was at a guest services stand near by stopped me and asked me what my problem was. When i explained to him that the booking process for meals sucks, he made a call and booked me in for dinner that night at 6:30pm for 2 of us. When i asked how this could happen, he explained to me the Prime Resort sellers get some bookings for people that they can offer the "time share" features for. I did make it clear that i would never get involved in this offering. I did end up going to dinner that night and it was good but not great.
I also was disappointed with the bartenders at the pool area i stayed at, as the service was not very good for a so called "5 STAR" resort. At times, there was only one bartender working which made no sense based on the number of people at or in the pool. Also I did ask specifically for Canadian Club Whiskey many times and it was never provided. I do think that this resort wants to push the cheap drinks to guests and save money. I did find out that this resort is shutting down in the summer for renovations but i felt the property was acceptable, but not the service. I have stayed at a 5 star Royalton before but can confirm this is not one. I was also offered the Royalton Prime program but ended that conversation very quickly as i don't believe in making a commitment to a "time share program" that makes it difficult to terminate.
I am not sure I would give this resort another try down the road.

Royalton Chic Antigua - Diamond Club
We spent 10 days here and also a friend reserved this property. The Pros: our 2 Butlers Maxwell and Terrl were outstanding and went above and beyond and should be awarded, The beach for Diamond club was outstanding, many staff are terrific
The Cons: while you will not starve here th food is sub par for our 10k experience. The Italian and Steakhouse are okay with great service. All other a la varies have great service but sub par food. We have visited ma[... read more]ny lesser quality resorts with much better food. Throughout our stay there was Royalton corporate staff at the resort working on improvement and insight. There are staff that are just over the top rude and should be weeded out. For my 38 years of travel visting many countries and over 45 AI resorts this was not good and we felt the value for a 10k vacation was la king as described and we felt taken advantage of at this price point. We have stayed at other Royalton resorts and this did not match in food quality. The main buffets I can only say need a lot of work.

Check-In & Room
Check-in was smooth even though we arrived on a full bus. The Hideaway has its own separate check-in area, which was a nice touch and helped speed things up. We didn’t use Diamond Club, just stayed in a regular room, which was clean and spacious. It did face the mangrove swamp (not the ocean or resort), but honestly, we didn’t spend much time in the room or on the balcony anyway. The jet tub in the room didn’t work that great and took a long time to fill, but everything else was[... read more] solid — room was cleaned daily, towels replaced, minibar always stocked. No towel animals or extras, but everything was comfortable.
Food & Drinks
We tried quite a few restaurants and Dorado and Hunter’s Steakhouse were our favorites. We also did the Zen teppanyaki dinner, which was definitely worth it — awesome food and a fun show. The buffet was good, especially for breakfast, but the omelet station always had a bit of a line. I kept it simple with bacon, eggs, and toast most mornings.
Drinks were top-notch — we tried tons of different cocktails, but the passionfruit margarita stood out. Bartenders were friendly and creative, and we never had trouble finding something new to try.
Pools, Gym & Activities
The pools were awesome. We stuck to the same one most days — close to the main pool but still chill. Servers came around nonstop with drinks, and tipping early in the day definitely helped keep the drinks flowing. I hit the gym a few times too — it's really well-equipped and clean. We didn’t try the spa because the prices were outrageous.
One of the highlights was our trip to Isla Mujeres. We rented a golf cart, toured the island, and spent some time eating and drinking at a beach club. The food there was amazing and it was such a cool way to explore the area at our own pace.
Service & Vibe
The staff were all fantastic — especially the servers around the pool. They were super attentive and kept the energy fun and relaxed, even if things weren’t always lightning fast (they have a lot of people to serve). A little tip goes a long way. The overall vibe of the resort was whatever you wanted it to be — chill, party, romantic — a good mix of everything.
Beach
Only real downside was the beach. The waves were rough during our stay and the seaweed situation wasn’t great. There was a big pile of it you had to climb over just to get to the water, which kind of killed the beach vibe.
Overall
All in all, it was a fantastic trip and we’d definitely consider going back — especially for the pools, drinks, food, and overall atmosphere. Just don’t go in expecting perfect beach days, and you’ll have a blast.
