It is just an OK ressort.The information wasn't accurate.

The food was terrible, very small buffet, meat not cook right, too mush or not enough. Sheets on bed too small, off all the time.Beach was showing nice big beach and was about 100 feet wide, very small.They told us that the restaurent on beach was open 24 hrs wrong.Shade on beach not nice.Chairs system bad.Tennis good no shade.

Beautiful Resort !

The OCEAN VISTA AZUL is a lovely hotel, the rooms were very clean ! We were in Building #6 so we were just across from the one of the 2 Beaches. The BUFFET Restaurant could use improvement when it comes to TASTE, many dishes were "tasteless" & the food was repetitive. The 3 A LA CARTE RESTOS are the best !! As for the INTERNET @ times it was slow & also if you intend to purchase "minutes " for the INTERNET they sell them @ Reception 60 min for 1 PESO, just beware they will tell you tha [... read more]t you have to use the 60 minutes from the 1st connection but as i discovered that is not so ! If after a few minutes you decide to stop just SHUT OFF your Wi-Fi & you will not loose your remaining minutes. In a nutshell the OCEAN VISTA AZUL is a beautiful resort & the grounds are always well maintained by the Staff working very hard to keep it looking perfect !

Fabulous winter getaway

Beautiful and clean resort that made for a perfect extended weekend getaway. The Ocean Vista Azul was everything we had hoped for. Beautiful resort, clean rooms, polite and gracious staff and outstanding views. The only issue we had was with Air Canada as we were delayed 3 hours due to things that were completely within their control. Obviously delays happen due to unforseeable circumstances, but these were silly personal issues that delayed and impacted our trip. Culd Have Been So Much Better

Hotel was on the newer side and very very clean. Entertainment was awesome. Food was horrible. I've been to Cuba 13 times and over the few years the food has really improved, with the exception of this place. Food was bland, boring. They ran out of items at the buffet, grill, restaurants etc: Napkins, cheese, spoons etc. Ice cream machine would not work. To make a strawberry drink, they used a strawberry syrup. They ran out of decaf coffee. There are two beaches. Both you share with hotel next door. Both are super small and crowded.

Wonderful resort

This resort was wonderful.Rooms modern and clean.Big warm thanks to Raysa our maid who kept room clean and looked after our every need.Especially liked the designs she made on our beds each day with towels,etc.The people of Cuba very loving.Plenty of choices to eat at the buffet in building 8 and at the beach. GREAT FACILITIESexcept for beach access & language barrier

Property was great in all aspects except hallway was not lit - thus VERY dark at night- could not see room # & had difficulty opening the door with key card Beach are was very small & cluttered Could do with some written info in the room re meal times - show times - amenity locations etc The only issue I have is with Air Canada Vacations Flights were poor - delays - poor connections Transfers - arrived in Varadero on schedule - through customs to the bus We sat on the bus waiting for over  [... read more]an hour- all passengers appeared to be on board There was a great delay for no apparent reason We were given no info on the trip except buy beer & book tours - tours - tours Arrived at the hotel after 1030 PM - all restaurants were closed - were hungry as we had not eaten since noon Our info session was booked for 9AM the following morning The ACC Rep - YOAN was useless He did not promote the hotel well - only a 15 minute presentation - gave no info re hotel amenities - No mention of the theater - spa - tennis courts etc. AGAIN BOOK TOURS TOURS with no details As a retired Travel Agent - If had I sent clients there I would be very very disappointed with the presentation they would have received Rep really did nothing to welcome guests or share any helpful info that would have made the vacation more pleasant - no written info I feel strongly that someone needs to evaluate him & perhaps provide a replacement I did speak with Customer Service on site & because of language barrier I received no satisfaction Many thanks

Awesome resort

Ocean vista Azul was such a great experience from start to finish. All the workers and staff were friendly and always there to help us if we had questions. There were 3 staff members in particular that we really enjoyed. Anays in the lobby bar and Ariel and Yosi at the pool bar. Food was pretty good for Cuba and the alacart restaurants were also good. Daily and nightly entertainment was always a blast. All together I’ll definitely go back again next year.

Good resort

Beautiful clean modern hotel. Food was good for Cuba. Absolutely no night life, no disco. No beach entertainment. Bar at beach always closed.They advertise 7 km continuous beach.. false advertising! No paddle boats or any water sports like the hotel next to it. Entertainment at pool only. Staff hardly spoke English or French. Lobby has the worst service. Personally,I would never go back.. or recommend this hotel.

Run down resort.

I have been to this resort twice now. My wife and I stayed at this place about 2 years ago (when it was quite new) and we had a wonderful experience. So, we decided to go back again, this time with the whole family and friends. This time, I was not happy with my experience. Just got back a week ago from this resort. The quality of the water on the pools is not the best and smells bad; the jacuzzi has stopped to work 6 months ago (that is according with their own staff), there is no bread for br [... read more]eakfast regularly at the buffet; and, on top of that we discovered cockroaches in our room on the second day of our stay. We complained and the problem was taken care; but the horrible experience had already ruined our stay. It seams like in the 2 years since we first visit the resort, everything has come down to the lowest standards of quality. Most of the fixtures are rusted, the hallway floors and staircases are stained and dirty, the elevator doesn’t work, the expresso-based coffee drinks are undrinkable and the staff (except few great people such as Ernesto in the Caribbean Restaurant and Carlos at the lobby bar) seems to be mad at all the tourists and tired of working for this hotel. We will certainly be looking for another hotel for future travels.

Ocean Vista Azul-Good resort

My husband and I were very pleased by our experience staying at Ocean Vista Azul during the Christmas break.The rooms were spacious, and clean. The only complaint was that the sliding doors were not working properly, and hard to close or open. More than one bottle of water left in the fridge per day, per 24 hours would have been best, and was an inconvenience to ask for more everyday. The staff made an extra special effort to make Christmas Eve a real feast. The drinks were excellent and standard of spirits excellent. More greens would have been welcome but we understand Cuba might not be able to provide such things especially during the winter months. The beaches, and the ocean were beautiful and the nice part is there were no annoying people trying to sell excursions, and goods. No rocks on most of the beach. Lots of sunbeds available. Lovely sand. Though we don't vacation for pool life the pools seemed excellent and had activities offered. The staff was excellent especially Yamilla, Victor, and the other woman who work at the beach bar by the big beach, and Annette in the buffet area. Didiana was extremely helpful to us at reception along with other staff member. Bar servers in general did a great job and we spent a lot of time enjoying the lobby bar with daily entertainment offered every evening. We also enjoy the evening spectacles. All together it was a good experience and we will definitely recommend friends and hope to return. Other guests we spoke with were not as pleased as us, but it all depends on what you are looking for...everyone has different tastes. An excursion into Varadero on afternoon was enjoyable, safe, and easy. We are of the opinion that people should tip more as all the Cubans are extremely low paid and the tip is an act of mercy to help them live a little better.

I Love Vista Azul

I rate this hotel 10 out of 10. The food, the room, the facility and the service are absolutely fantastic. We had a great time staying at this hotel for 2 weeks. Very accessible to the bus stop, all the staffs are hard workers and friendly.

Beautiful Resort

Considering this is in Cuba, this is a very modern looking resort. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is great, and the room was spacious and clean. The staff are fantastic. The only 2 minor draw backs; 1 the beds were very hard and 2 the food was bland But there was always something to eat and there was salt on the tables. I would definitely go back and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Just be aware you are not getting Mexican, or even Dominican standards of food options. Great get away

Hotel was spotless. Room was great. A La Carte’s were good. Coffee shop was great. Pools and beach were good. Buffet was good for breakfast. Beach BBQ was great for lunch. Beach buffet was good. Lobby at night was fun. Synchronized swimmers in the evening was fantastic.

Lovely Resort

Everything was excellent, beautiful grounds, pools, rooms. If you are a beach lover, it is a long walk to the sand.The dining was better than most Cuban resorts. The staff were not as friendly and accomidating as we have been used to from our other 16 times in Cuba, and that was our biggest shock/disappointment. This was my first time at this resort and we are pool lovers, so would highly recommend for fellow pool lovers.

Beautiful modern hotel.Large,clean rooms.A la carte restaurants were good..did not have to make reservations.Staff was exceptional as always seems to be the case in Cuba.Hotel set in a cliff with a small beach on one side and a larger beach on the other...beach was nice but not as nice as other areas I have been to on Cuba.Had a great beach restaurant that out out a lunch buffet and was open 24 hrs for food.Shows were good especially the water ballet in the pool...they were excellent.My only com [... read more]plaint is that the paths are not lit well enough at night...especially when walking along the beach and cliff side..could not see well at all.

Wonderful resort

We stayed in the main building over the lobby. We had a beautiful ocean view room with a large balcony. It was super clean and beautifully decorated. It exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurants were satisfactory in that we were always able to find something we enjoyed eating. There was a good variety. This resort is good value for what you are paying. I was a little disappointed in the coffee. Cappacinos looked delicious but lacked the full bod [... read more]y flavor. I think regular beans are used instead of espresso beans. We certainly enjoyed our vacation and would go to this resort again.

Second Visit here....might make it three!

I took my wife for a surprise 4 day trip to celebrate her 50th. In all our years of taking tropical winter holidays (usually twice per winter!) we had never returned to a resort that we had visited in the past. We were very glad we came back here! We previously visited here in March 2016 when the resort was brand new. It does show a lot of wear for three years, but apparently a hurricane will do that! Rooms are still very well maintained, and clean, but there are many shingles missing from the  [... read more]ocean facing roofs which will lead to major damage if not rectified soon. I chose to upgrade to the "Privilege" level, which was well worth the relatively small amount extra that it costs. Better room, personalized check-in, later check out, better drinks, a-la-carte reservations nightly, private breakfast and lunch restaurant and a private lounge to enjoy the better drinks in at night! (I wish I had done that the first visit too!!) As usual in Cuba, the people are the best asset of the resort. First class service from all people, all the time. I will be back!

Trip and booking

Good day this was my 1st TRIP out of the country, with that being said our booking agent Janet was a sheer pleasure to deal with she left no stone unturned which made our trip that much more enjoyable. As far as the resort the entire staff in which i came into contact with were always smiling and eager to help me in any way.,the rooms were very well equipped and spacious. I would not hesitate to return to the ocean villa for a return. THANK YOU ALL FOR A WONDERFUL TRIP!
