Exactly what we expected

The resort was clean wth friendly staff and entertainment crew Being a smaller resort a smaller selection at the buffet was to be expected but the food was fine. The beach was beautiful nice sand with no rocks. Having an on-site disco every night meant there was something to do late when we chose too. If you are looking for posh you will be disappointed but for a nice relaxing vacation it was just what we needed

Nice resort with a good prize-to-value ratio

The beach was amazing and the rooms were clean and nice. Overall, this adults only resort is very nice and a good place for some relaxed days (no loud music etc.) as a couple or as a group witth a good prize-to value ratio. Also the staff is very friendly. However, the food quality varied across different restaurants/places and days.

Our fave resort!

Pleasant atmosphere (for meeting people), beautifully modernized rooms, decent food, fantastic service by all staff (especially Candy Love, Augusto, Carleton, Luis), great activities (tennis, ping pong, volleyball, watersports), perfect beach, well-planned and executed New-Year's Eve show.

Ok resort

Small venue. Great beach...about 5 minutes walk from hotel but that was ok. First balcony room we were checked into was 2 queens (we asked for king), smelled like sewage, and looked onto a stairwell. Resort changed our room but was still two queens, looked into a stairwell but did not smell like sewage. Team members were not so friendly at first but got more friendly as week went on. Enjoyed this budget adult AI

I enjoyed this budget adult only all inclusive. For the price I paid, I was happy with the services provided. The beach was beautiful with the mountains in the backdrop and great for nice long walks. The ocean clean and with fun waves. Was there in high season. Enough chairs to go around. No long waits at bars. If you eat early no waits at restaurants. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about but you could find something tasty at every venue. Red wine was drinkable. Have had worst at other highe [... read more]r end resorts. If you are looking for a small inexpensive adult only all inclusive, this is one to consider. More for those who want to relax than for those wanting to party.

Excellent experiences and great food / beach

Overall, we had a very lovely experience at this resort for six reasons. First, its beach has very soft sands, and besides its private beach, we can also access to neighboring beaches. It was very romantic to walk along the beaches (as long as you like) for hours. Second, the food at the resort was excellent and clean: we were surprised that we did not have any diarrhea or sickness like our experiences in four/five star hotels in other Caribbean countries, and we enjoy its buffet even mo [... read more]re than its a la carte restaurants because of the wide selection and freshness of the food. The buffet at the Christmas Eve has lobsters, mussels, tons of cold/hot food / dessert selection! Third, since the resort is located inside the park of 10+ other hotels, we got to enjoy the beautiful golf shared by all hotels. It was a very tranquil experience to jog in the morning for a few miles along the golf path. Fourth, we were not pestered for tips. Fifth, we love the biodiversity along the path between the hotel pool and the beach. It was a very enjoyable walk and I love watching the fishes, turtles and birds in the swamp. Last but not least, the magic show was unbelievably amazing! I was never a fan of magic show but I love the one provided by the hotel. However, there are also a few downsides. Only two bottles of water are provided each day at your room; although we spent most of our time outside of our hotel room and have access to water at the bars / restaurants, we also would love to have extra bottles of water at our room and fast room service for water. The city tour was a waste of time and potentially waste of money because it was all about shopping and less about experiencing the culture and beauty of the city, despite that the guide was very funny.

Worth Every Penny

The hotel was very clean; Maria our maid went out of the way each day to ensure that the room was spotless and did lovely towel figures on the beds. The staff was so concerned about our enjoyment; Ana the bartender left the bar frequently to ensure that we were in great drinks shape :-) The food was all good, with dinner and lunch by the Ocean restaurant truly deserving of special mention. Presentation every where was great. Not a single complaint for the entire week!

Fabulous Resort

The quiet atmosphere was relaxing during the early mornings and the engaging activities were well thought out during the day. The animation team goes above and beyond to get their guests involved in fun games, dances, and the especially entertaining foam party on Saturdays. I give a special shout out to Candy, Mini, and Kim for their sincere attitudes towards all guests and the fabulous efforts they put into ensuring all are enjoying their stay at the VHeavens.

An enjoyable vacation!

The resort was relatively small and not filled to capacity, which had pros and cons. Pros were that it was quite and we really got to know the staff, cons were that all the Ala carte restaurants were not open every night and the buffet was not open for supper. Our first room was a disaster, no A/C, no hot water, and the sink leaked onto the floor. Complained but did not get a functional room until the next day. Second room was great! Breakfast and lunch buffet was good...8 out of 10. Ala c [... read more]arte restaurants were very mediocre...5 out of 10 at best. Beach was nice...pool was nice. Drinks were OK. Best part of the resort was the animation crew (staff responsible for activities); they were all full of energy and a lot of fun. Lots of activities. Overall a good vacation...relaxing and fun!

Amasing resort

Very nice resort, quiet and very elegant, very clean. will return foresure. The entertainment was very good and the staff very friendly. Rooms were spacey tho not enough storage. The maid is very honest at one point left my safe open by mistake and nothing was missing. Lots of towels and everyday included face cloths. If you are looking for good food the 4 a la cartes were awsome. Will be back for sure.

Beautiful resort with many issues that needs addressing.

This hotel and location was definitely beautiful. Unfortunately it lacked many services which made our overall vacation disappointing. As Hurricane Irma had just passed prior to our arrival the resort was generally empty. Our check in was at 4:00 am in the morning after an approx 16 hour delay at the airport in Toronto. There were approx 20 people waiting to check in with only one clerk on duty. Everyone was exhausted and they should have provided more staff for check in as I'm sure they kne [... read more]w we were delayed. Room was fine with no issues. Clean and comfortable. Beach and pool were beautiful. Due to resort having low occupancy the buffet was only open for breakfast and lunch so you were forced to eat at a la cartes every night. Wait to get in was usually about one hour. Food service was terrible! Orders took anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours to get your order and you were lucky if you got the right order. I felt buffet should not have been closed as I would not have gone to this resort if I had been made aware of this. Had to eat at same a la carte for 3 nights so food does get quite boring. Asked to speak to Hotel Manager on 2 occassions but he/she was never made available to us. Entertainment was OK. Again due to low occupancy some nights there was no entertainment. I felt we paid the same amount of money for this trip that anyone else did and we should we receive full services and not be penalized for the low occupancy.

Exceeded My Expectations

The last time I was in the Dominican Republic was over 15 years ago and I was not impressed. This trip changed that. I needed a quiet resort and this met the bill. If you are looking for a party place this may be the place. It is a smaller resort and it was not busy. The service was great, the food was great (very important to me). Be careful if you walk on the beach when the sun has been shining on it all day. You can burn your feet.

Amazing, clean resort!!!

The resort was very clean and the staff members were extremely friendly. Always cleaning. The a la carte dinners were 5 stars! The servers were unbelievable! You can tell they were trained very well. I would recommend this resort and would go back. Well done Viva Whyndam Heavens!

2nd Stay for 2weeks - AMAZING PLACE

We stayed here last year in June for 2wks. This is the first time we've actually returned to the same resort. We're in our 40ies and travel a lot. We stayed here again for 2 wks from June 13th to July 27th this year. Actually ran into another fellow we recognized that was there last year for 2 weeks and back this year again the same as us for the same reasons. The pictures of the resort are exactly what you get. We walked the entire bay of beach line both years and this resort has the cleanest stretch of beach area in the bay. Contributing inland streams (urban storm water), ocean currents and wind currents leave other resort areas with some dirty beaches but this area is beautiful. This resort is small, adults only, and quiet, so its great to relax. If you want to party and are looking for super charged entertainment all day every day this might NOT be your place. That's exactly why we go, to chill, because we work hard and party hard at home Our top criteria for resort travel is 5* beach and 5* room. I'd recommend this resort without hesitation.

The place blew my expectations!

I must say I was totally thrilled to stay at this resort. As a matter of fact, the place exceeded my expectations. For starters, the resort was clean, and the lobby did not smell of cigarette smoke (a common occurence in resorts i.e.Cuba). My room was excellent - very clean room with AC and a self-contained washroom. The staff were friendly throughout the resort. The food was amazing througout the day. Only drawback - the beach is a bit of a walk from the rooms, so you won't get a view of the ocean from your room.

Incredible Food!

First time taking on an all inclusive and it was well worth it! V Heavens exceeded our expectations. The highlight was the food, going into it we were not sure what to expect, but after the first day we knew we were all set. The food was consistently exceeding our expectations. It was not only the taste and smell that blew us away, but the fantastic presentation of the dishes of both a la carte and the buffet! We had the junior suite; spacious with a good view from the balcony.

Good experience

Really enjoyed our stay at Viva Wyndham Heavens. Pros: Room-We had the amnesia junior suit, It was beautiful! Big king size bed, couch, walk in glass shower and balcony. Worth the upgrade as I heard people complaining about smaller rooms. Didn't have any problems with the water temperature but at one point our taps didn't work for about an hour. It was fixed quickly. Same with the phone it didn't work one evening but was back to normal the next day. Room was in section 1 facing the parking l [... read more]ot but with trees to hide the room from view. also mostly quiet at night so went to sleep easily. Sometimes noise when people arrive to the resort but nothing that disturbed us. The room was always very clean. Left a 2$ American tip per day to keep the cleaning ladies pleased. They even folded some of our shirts one day which was shocking. Very good cleaning service. Tip your maids each day not at the end! Food- it was okay, not bad for the price. Did not like any of the restaurants except Rosamarino (Italian). Go to V Kitchens buffet. Surprisingly it had the best food on the resort. Do not order any beef fillet it is a disgusting watery folded piece of meat that has the texture of squishy, rubbery fat like substance. Never had a cut of meat like that in my life. Did not get any food poisoning at all so food is safe to eat in my opinion. Staff- most of the staff were nice to us, did not have any problems with the entertainment crew that other people mentioned. Some staff seemed unenthusiastic, but personally I didn't care about that. Most of them were nice and friendly. No problems with anyone. A little bit of language barrier with night staff at the front desk but should have learned more Spanish since we are visiting their country and it is their main language. Very pleased with the service. Beach- water was amazing! Perfect temperature and waves were small. Kept it clean by picking up seaweed every morning. Would be nice to be provided umbrellas since the palm trees don't offer full coverage. Even if you manage to find a shady spot the sun moves so you have to constantly change locations to stay in the shade. Not a huge deal just something that would be a nice addition. The snack bar is convenient when feeling a bit hungry or thirsty. 'Passion Di Amore' drink was delicious! Very nice bar tenders. Can also take kayaks, surfboards and other water sports for free which is a nice addition. Volleyball net and games were fun as well. Vendors on the beach come by often but if you say no thank you they usually move on. Also, buy any excursions from the beach vendors not the hotel packages because they are way cheaper and you can haggle! Learned the hard way when we overpaid for an excursion through sunwing instead of a vendor. Also can go topless on the beach if you want since it is adults only. Pool- didn't spend much time in the pool but it was nice, never crowded. The foam party was really fun! Recommend attending it. Entertainment- really fun music and dancing at night and at the disco tech. There was also a majic show and live performance on some nights so the evenings were fun. Bar located right next to the pool which is nice. The cigar lounge is also close buy and has a nice selection of Dominican cigars and a cozy seating area. Went there to smoke and drink cappuccinos on rainy days. Excursions- catamaran was amazing. The crew were super nice and the snorkelling was fun. Went to 2 different places to snorkel and were provided with lunch. Really nice boat with area to sit/lay down and also shade to hide from the sun. Recommend doing it! Buggies was also very fun but take the super buggy not the four wheeler. The four wheeler sucks! It has no power, stalls and isn't fast. The super buggy is was more fun. Recommend going on this as well if you don't mind getting a bit muddy. Cons: Rooms- when it rained the water leaked through the window creases and onto the floor. It was only a couple small puddles but it shouldn't leak in the first place. The bathroom was always wet. The floor was contantly wet from condensation or leaking. Don't know where the water kept coming from because we put a towel on the floor during showers so not from that. Had to put towels on the whole floor so as not to slip. Mattress was a bit too firm in my opinion but that's subjective. Also never know what time the maids are coming so have to keep an eye out for them which can be inconvenient when you want your room cleaned but are currently using it. Again not a big deal would just prefer a more set time not 9-3 gap. Food- hated most of the retardants. Food was not properly cooked or recycled. Felt like it was the same dish at every restaurant using the same sauces and dressings on everything. Buffet is the way to go. Tipped 2$ American at restaurants. Beach- some vendors are a bit too pushy and don't give up easily. Again didn't bother me that much because I know they are just trying to make a living. But it is a bit annoying after a while. Also lack of umbrellas a bit inconvenient even with the palm trees giving shade. Excursions- haggle haggle haggle ! We overpaid a few times because we didn't use vendors or we didn't haggle enough. One couple paid 50$ while we paid 70$ for buggies. Be persistent. Also we tipped at the end of each excursion because they were good but that's optional. Make sure to put on and re apply lots of sunscreen! Got very burnt on the catamaran even with sunscreen so hide in the shade a bit as well when you can. All in all we had a fantastic time at this resort. Loved the room, loved the beach and loved the excursions. Make sure to haggle when you can! For the price we paid this trip was definitely worth and and would do it again. The food could be better but you get what you pay for. Great trip!

it was a nice hotel, the food was decent but not a lot of selections. no grill station for fish, meat, shrimps, only pasta day after day. We went to the Italian by the beach it was disgusting the fish was raw and chicken had a bad taste to it, very disappointed after reading the reviews. the people were nice but some were very touchy and some actions were not acceptable slapping girld on their ass and splashing peole rudly at the foam party wasnt necessary alot of people got pissed off and we  [... read more]had to tell them to stop. small resort with no kids was a bonus but would not retutn.

Relaxing stay

Very good resort, not too big and everything close by, waking distance of 5 min to the beach, i called it my Zen walk, food was good, favorite was the Italian on the beach, could not do water (catamaran) due to choppy water all week, preferred the pool for swimming and lots of animation activities from their team during the day, nice variety of ages, you felt comfortable to just chill and read, or participate in the activities if you felt bored. Treat them with respect, and they will do the same.
