Terrific resort for adults

Beautiful warm ocean. The beach is rocky near the bar, but gets sandier further west. It was well worth walking the extra meters. Staff were friendly and helpful. The International a la carte restaurant was disappointing. We much preferred the quality and variety of foods at the buffet, which was always amply supplied. Overall, we had a great time from start to finish.

Amazing And Very Clean Resort

My stay at the Gran Muthu Imperial, was amazing, it was my first time going to Cuba and I enjoy every minute of it, the Resort was Impeccable Clean, the Staff is amazingly Friendly and is hands on in assisting you with whatever you may need, my only regret is the weather was not very corporative, during my stay it was rather windy and chilly, but hey that’s nature, I will definitely go back to that same resort on my next visit in Aug of this year 👍🏼

Amazing resort

This resort was amazing there is nothing bad to say about it. I had a great time and can't wait to go back . The staff were great and every where in the resort were very clean and well maintained The only issue I had was the wind blowing all the time lol

Beautiful Resort

The resort was gorgeous and very modern. Everything from the rooms, grounds, and restaurants were beautiful. We read reviews about there not being a beach in front, however if you walk to the left side, away from the sister (family) resort, there's a gorgeous beach. It is however a little rocky in some parts, though we were told that they are cleaning it up in the spring of 2020. Food at the buffet was plentiful and delicious in the morning, good at lunch, and sufficient in the evening. Seems there was more selection and variety in the morning. Definitely grab some bacon and take it to the grill station for them to crispy them up. Dinner at the buffet after day 2 became redundant with basically the same dishes, however going to the 24 hour snack bar mixed it up for us and was very good. We went on one excursion on our trip - the Jeep Safari which took us to the mountains through off-road trails where we had a horseback riding for an hour, then a trip to a small island for lunch, followed by a drive through the city of Moron to get to a farm IN the city (very unassuming to turn a corner in the city and arrive at a full-fledged farm!). The excursion was really good compared to other ones I've been on that were offered at resorts. A definite must is visit to Playa Pilar beach. It is absolutely breathtaking! The sand is a fine powdery white and the water a beautiful shade of turquoise. Check it out by taking a $5pp taxi or bus ride.

Great Vacation

My Husband and I visit Cuba at least once a year and this resort was one of the nicest, updated places we've stayed in. Rooms were clean, LOVED the Bathrooms! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. Pools were beautiful, my favorite was the swim-up infinity pool. The beach is a bit rocky in areas but still gorgeous. Overall is was a great stay!

Great hotel

Great Ocean view enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel. Food was excellent staff amazing so friendly and efficient. One negative beach is not delopped yet but one further down . Would return in a year or 2.

Quaint resort

If your looking for a quiet resort this is the one, the resort is relaxing and peaceful. if your looking to party, head to the pool bar and pool for music, games, and drinks. The lobby bar, sports bar & cigar shop become a social fest after dinner and entertainment. All the bars close at 11pm with the exception of the 24hr snack bar ( party usually moves to the snack bar). If your looking for dancing, there is a discotech around the corner from the resort, it is still on resort grounds and one o [... read more]f the golf carts will take you there and back its a 2 minute walk, really close and safe. staff at the resort are great, social and not pushy, entertainment staff is great they are engaging and light hearted. Food was great there are many stations and selections, you will not go hungry. the snack bar is also great for those late night meals after drinking. the beach is nice, not busy or over crowded just make sure to keep an eye on your towels. there wasn't anything to really complain about, nothing really negative.I would recommend this to a friend, and probably will return the next time i plan on visiting.

Wonderful resort!

Grounds are well maintained. Public areas are airy, furniture well-placed, and front desk manned all the time. Hotel room is spacious and adequately equipped with a huge bed, along with other furniture such as desk, table, chairs and a large wicker lounger! The services are excellent and attendants are friendly, thoughtful! Foods and drinks are plenty to choose from. the beach is close by and clean!

Beautiful Resort!

I have been to Cuba many times and know what to expect but this resort really surprised me. I was impressed from the moment I walked through the lobby, it was breathtaking. The vibe is very high end, breezy casual and super cozy with massive lounge chairs spread out the lobby with a clear picturesque view of the ocean. There was a lot of wind, windy every day all day but it kept the bugs away so I was happy about that. The resort was not at capacity but the sister resort next door was so if you needed more action it was a 2 min. walk away. We were situated in building 9, ground floor with a walk out looking at the ocean, right next to the infinity pool and 24 snack bar, It was perfect. The rooms were very clean, bright and airy. I packed a candle with a light beach scent which did a fantastic job giving the room a little freshness. (I highly recommend this) we had a king bed which was comfy enough. There is 1 main buffet which is simple but does the job, I was able to have great meals every time. There were days I was quite impressed with the food selection, fresh seafood, delicious simmered pork and very flavourful chicken pollo. I was pleased to find manchego cheese, buttery prosciutto and fresh breads, 1 night there was even a Parm Reggiano cheese wheel! there are also 3 ala carte restaurants which have the same food portioned smaller but a more formal atmosphere so worth it to have a more intimate romantic setting. I would also highly recommend enjoying the coffee specials in the main lobby, I had at least 3 cappuccinos daily! (stayed away from regular coffee in the buffet hall). The staff was friendly and helpful, the crowd was a good mix of ages and pretty classy, no drunken whinos stumbling around (we did notice this at other resorts) basically, we loved this place and would highly recommend this adult resort. I also heard people loved the sister family resort. When I was booking my vacation I was debating with between Gran Mathu or the Pullman (went to the Pullman for the day to compare) and was sooooo happy I choose the Gran Mathu Imperial. The only thing that I would say was a minus is the resort beach is quite small but satisfactory and there is access to the sister resort beach. The resort also offers day trips to Pillar beach which is highly recommended- get the lobster and shrimp lunch package ** definitely coming back to this resort !

Gran Muthu Imperial Apples to Apples

We arrived Dec 25, 2019 for a 10 day stay leaving January 4, 2020. We had spent the same time period the last 5 years at a 4.5 star adults only resort in Cayo Santa Maria Cuba. We compared the resorts to each other. The Cuban staff are friendly no matter where you travel to. At the Imperial the grounds are well kept, the staff friendly, fresh coconuts (delicious) from the gardeners when available. Though short on towels a few days the room was spacious and kept clean. The beach cannot be highly rated when compared to other beaches in Cuba due to rocks in the water and undergrowth. There were not enough lounge chaise on the beach despite the resort not being at capacity. We would go to another resort to use their facilities. The beach bar did run out of cups 1 day so bring your own just in case. The sailing was enjoyed, the nightly entertainment was amazing as was our trip to Moron. The International and especially the Seafood restaurants were upscale with their service. A good selection at the buffet as well. Any criticism we have is directed at the management who organized the New Year eve buffet dinner. We arrived at the 8:30 pm 2 nd sitting. With no one to seat us we wandered around the room looking for a vacant table. All were full. We were ready to leave when a staff member recognized us and found a vacant table. The table cloth was full of food stains and no cutlery. This was promptly remedied. The buffet food stations were 1 /2 empty of food and it looked like a food fight had taken place. We hadn't experienced such chaos in the last 5 years. The last evening of 2019 was a disappointment. If management was professional, and organized, this chaotic scene would not have happened. New Year's Eve comes on the same date every year so it should not be a surprise. Would we return ? Perhaps. You only have 1 chance to make a good first impression.

Great resort

The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. The resort is quiet which is fabulous. Lots of loungers and beach beds around the pool. The food is decent. Always something to eat and enjoy. I would return. Only complaint would be the a la cartes were empty most of the time and no reservations were available.

Amazing resort!!

The resort was well maintained and staffed. All the staff were amazing and friendly. Their entertainment team worked really hard and had lots of various activities each day. The pools were really clean and there were lots of lounge chairs. The food was great and lots of variety. The week we were there it was very windy and whistled outside our room making it fairly noisy. Amazing!

Resort was beautiful and exceptionally clean throughout! Staff were wonderful. Beach is beautiful. Complaints about food in Cuba resorts is common but we were never left hungry and always able to find something to eat. Definitely would return.

Great Resort

For Cuba this is cream of the crop. The rooms are upgraded and spotless. The food was the best ive had out of the 3 times ive been to Cuba. The drinks were amazing. Pools are stunning and clean. The beach sucks. If youre look to spend lots of time in the sand and ocean this isnt the resort for you.

Great Resort

It was the perfect size. The facilities were clean and pleasant. The food was good and always a lot to choose from. Beautiful rooms with great service. My only complaint is that the gym opened at 9:00 am it would have been preferable to be open at 6:30 or 7:00 am.

Very nice resort

I think the resort is very nice and the staff is amazing, very friendly The beach needs same Improvement but overall it was nice the room was spacious and has beautiful view the loby bar was very nice and friendly

Great place for a vacation

This resort located in Cayo Guillermo. Took 45min for bus ride from airport. Just minor things needs to improve. Bed sheets were dirty and smelly. Some people met in the resort had the same problem. Shower room was okay but had water leaking problem. I needed to wipe the bathroom floor after shower because water was all over the bathroom and almost reaching to the bed. Food was not bad and special menu for new year's eve. Fun games and performance.

Great resort, very mediocre service

Beach, accommodations, pool, etc were all fantastic! All new and kept in great shape. The service on the resort was very sub par. There was an expectation of tips for any type of service (ie. taking your order at the snack bar, dusting off a beach chair, etc.) Food is as expected in Cuba, not great but still good variety at the buffet.

Amazing Resort

Amazing hotel , awesome location , had so much of fun , Food needs some update . Rest everything is good . Friendly staff , sun , sun and sun. There are 8 resorts and no locals at all. No WiFi included , 1 usd for an hour , you can logout once done with WiFi to use an hour when required.
