The property has a lot of potential. It needs some love and care. The pools are beautiful and levels for all people. The service was very slow and they were rude. The food was good. Tips really did not matter to them. The entertainment was not the greatest and didn’t really involve the guests.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Terrific Resort &Great Value
The resort is making great progress after the hurricane in 2017. The grounds are constantly being maintained and being rejuvenated.
We noticed that our room has been upgraded somewhat and that we understand renovations are ongoing. The service was 5+ star, and it may have been due to diamond club, but we were very pleased. We received great service daily on the diamond club beach area, at the bar, and served on the beach, also the snack bars on the beach gave great service. The beach was impecc[... read more]able and cleaned daily. We always received service for loungers on the beach daily. Only one day did the staff run out of loungers, but retrieved some more for our use.
The piano bar wait staff were friendly, polite, and very eager to serve, even our large night time group gatherings. Again 5+star service.
We also enjoyed our a la carte restaurant servers, Asian, Mediterranean, and Beach restaurant was a nice touch.
We especially enjoyed the daily option of a la carte breakfast at the Mediterranean restaurant for diamond club. The service was warm, friendly, and food was served fresh and hot.
The buffet was ok, but lacked the hot cases being hot temperatures, as many hot food choices were Luke warm to cold.
The selection was great if you were willing to wait for custom food prep such as eggs in morning, or pasta bar in evenings. These were always fresh and tasty.
Our room was comfortable and what we expected. We did request balcony, but we were on ground floor, but we had a nice view of the gardens and seemed private. We did get our request for king size bed,but not as close to the beach as what we would have hoped.
However, this resort was smaller and made it easy to get around. We enjoyed the smaller resort as we felt like the staff remembered us each time we were served, at bars or restaurants which increase our levels of service.
Overall We would consider coming back to this resort and we highly recommend it.

Great hotel, grounds, staff and beaches are prestine. Very large resort but they make you feel at home. The food is what you would expect in Cuba. The only down side is the distance from the airport.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Affordable and Fair
This resort is very large and requires a lot of walking to get to the main areas, beach, and restaurants. The resort grounds are very clean, but there are certain areas such as the washrooms, that really need maintenance and cleaning. The food was very good, rooms were clean, but the service and hospitality could use some improvement.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Beautiful resort
Resort was beautiful service is slow when you need for your beverages when you eat a la carte or at the buffet. We tipped and left presents. We were at room 602. This resort is not for you if you do not like walking as there is alot to be done. Food was good home made omlets fish chicken pork rice buffet. Room was clean beds a little stiff air was cold beach is beautiful. Would not call this a 4 star as it is a bit run down but if you are looking for descent food clean rooms this place is good. [... read more]Has 4 pools good for all ages. We spent our time everyday at beach. They have paddle boats kiaks and catermerans. Tip the chair man every day and he will save you an umbrella by the beach we brought him a gift and a pesos. Exchange your money at airport it is cheaper there at hotel 60 can will give you 44cuc. We paid for VIP at airport for return. Little disappointed food ok but room run down at airport was only good for express check in but remember it is first come first serve so if busses come before you get there you will get what is available. Great staff will definitely goto Holiguin as the weather there us hot and more predictable maybe not this resort

Classy hotel, pool, beach, food, drinks; entertainment could be better though, was good a couple of times within our week stay but that's about it. We will remember our trip for long for sure however and are already thinking about a next one.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: SUCH A GREAT PLACE......WE'RE GOING BACK!!!
Overall we made the best out of our trip for the kids but we lost more than entire day of dealing with issues. We upgraded to the Diamond club but as it was March break they overbooked so we did not get what we paid for. The first rooms we had were in disgraceful shape. We had to move numerous times and still did not get the upgraded rooms we had paid for. Even the small perks that come with the Diamond Club such as bathrobes, slippers, snacks and in room beach towels were not provided. On more[... read more] than one occasion housekeeping had to be requested for towels etc. Trying to deal with the staff was frustrating and at times they were rude. Although the most of the wait staff and bartenders were very friendly. Despite all the hassle we went through we were only offered a dinner on the beach which was not convenient with 4 children . The water park was fun for the kids and the beach was beautiful. Wish we booked the Royalton instead, far nicer resort with all the same amenities. Punta Cana is great, but will not go back to Memories.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great time at Memories Holguin
We just got back from a March Break trip at the Memories Resort. It was the best resort we've ever stayed at in Cuba. The cave excursion (included) is highly recommended. There always seemed to be something to do at this resort and we loved it.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Had better
I will not be returning to this hotel. After 1 day I noticed water that was leaking through the lights and ceiling after someone had a shower in the room above us. I asked to move and they moved us to building 24. It was a renovated roobeen to Cuba 7 times and I know what to expect. The omlett, fruit, deserts. Grilled chicken, pasta bar and stir fry, and panini sandwiches on the beach were good. We didn’t eat anything else. A lot of people complained that they were sick after they ate soup. We[... read more] also walked away from the specialty dinner at the pool because they served soup and I noticed the chef touching our food when he was platting our dinner with his hands. The lobby bar had good drinks and coffee. The staff was helpful and great iendly. The diamond club was worth the beach service. You must go early to the beach to get your chairs and reserve them. The beach was beautiful!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Family Resort
We stayed at Memories Splash the week of March Break. Two families, party of 7 including two 17 year old sons and an 8 year old daughter.
Reception: We arrived around 11pm and found the reception to be a bit unwelcoming. The hotel reception area is dull and small.
Room: Our first impression upon apprival was disappointment. The room was basic and beds were not queen as requested. We purchased a "premium" room package expecting the larger beds. The room was tired in much need of a refresh[... read more]. It contained two double bed, a small coach, chest of drawers, tv and fridge. The AC kept the room comfortable. The next day we were informed all rooms in building 7,8 and 9 house the premium upgrade. These buidings are centrally located around the main pool, and conveniently close to both the buffet and social centre (entertainment area). We were told by the onsite Sunquest rep that these rooms are larger than the deluxe room.
Each day the room was restocked with bottled water, soft drinks and beer.
The room was suffiecient for our needs.
Meals: We ate at the buffet and all the a la catre restaurants. The bufffet is good with a variety of foods to choose from. Staff were a little slow at bringing refreshments to the table. The a la carte restaurants filled quickly requiring us to wait in a queue with a beeper. Food in the a la carte is basically the same as what is offered in the buffet. Nice to receive table service but not really worth the wait and effort.
Looking for your early morning jolt? The buffet is open at 6am and provides paper cups for take away. Beans coffee shop opens at 8:00am.
Pool: The two pools were always busy. One was the entertainment hub and thus noiser.
Beach: The beach is stunning and well maintained. Fun waves and gorgeous sand. The beach is about 1km from the Memories property. The resort provides motorized transportation to the Royalton reception area (sister hotel) but there is an additionnal 300m walk through the Royalton to access the beach front.
Beach lounge chairs for Memories and Royalton are segretated. Guests arrive very early (6:00am) to place towels on chairs at the beach.
There is a bar and a Royalton buffet (12-4pm) close to the beach for Memories guests to access.
The beach was always busy with bathers and those walking the extensive beach front.
Memories did not offer boogie boards or other water sport items.
Property: The property is well kept and clean. There are lots of birds roaming the grounds. That early morning "cat like screech" is no cat. That's a peacock.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone with mobility challenges. There are no elevators in buildings and the stone paths can be slippery.
Water Park: The water park was a hit for the 8 year old girl. It offers a great range of slides that was fun for our entire group. She used the park every day. The water park is beside Memories.
Night Life: Each night Memories puts on entertainment in the social centre. I did not attend most but was lucky to catch the acrobatic circus on Saturday night.
The 17 year old boys spent evenings at the Royalton sports bar/disco. This bar goes all night closing at 6am. And yes, though both wore a minors bracelet, they were both served alcoholic beverages at all bars.
Tourista: My advise, see your doctor before you go to the DR and get medication for diarrhea. Six of the 7 in our party suffered with diarrhea. Though there is a clinic on site, there is no doctor. You are sent in to Bavaro, via taxi at a cost of $30 each way to a hospital. Our hospital bill was $860 US for the consultation, IV, blood work, urinalysis and meds. Thankful we had insurance to claim the visit.
Fire alarm: We were awaken during the night by an alarm likely pulled by someone in the building. Looking out our patio door we could see and smell significant smoke. Guests congregated around the pool looking for direction. Turns out there was a big garbage fire close by. The smoke and odour lingered for hours. Staff did not seem to be phased by the event.
All and all the property met both families expectations and we were pleased with our vacation. There was something for everyone and the 17 year olds could spread out away from their families in a safe environment between both resorts. There is an option to upgrade your stay at Memories. I do not believe the upgrade to "Diamond Club" is worth the expense for the services provided.
In my opinion the property is a 3.5 star rating. By no means is this a 4 * as rated by Sunquest..
Lastly, though I commented on the reception during our arrival, check out was very smooth. We had a late departure and appreciated the room they provided for us to clean up in after our last day at the beach.
The staff at the resort were very welcoming, friendly and they seemed to enjoy talking to their patrons.

Grand Memories Varadero: First trip to Cuba
The resort was beautiful our room was very clean the food was good better than I expected. My only complaint was that when we booked our trip we requested help for my partner as his heakth issues dont allow him to walk any distance. We were told that you provided a buggy service that would pick him up at our building & take him back & forth. When we stopped the drivers to adk for a ride up to the dining hall they would tell us no they had to go elsewhere. At one point I got mad & told the driver[... read more] "no he can't walk anymore today you will drive him I also stated that I was willing to walk but you must take ny friend he is ill. That day we did both get a ride back to our building. I want you to understand that we only went up to the pool in the morning stayed there for the day then back to our room after supper. So we only required a ride twice daily. Many days we walked having to sit to rest at each bench along the way. We were in building 23 which is down by the beach but a fair walk to the pool & dinning hall. This being said i would still come back to the resort only requestibg to be in a building closer to the pool area

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Value!
This resort and staff are working hard to improve this resort after all the hurricane damage. The grounds are nice. The rooms are decent but some people had issues with leaks and no hot water. The staff are super friendly and will eagerly help you enjoy your stay. The beach was amazing and the different levels at the pool kept the kiddies at one and the adults at the other. We did Diamond club and not to many perks but not having to line up for meals was well worth it, as well as, your own area o[... read more]n the beach. The snack bar was great! Sol Turquesa Beach: Okay resort
The people at the resort are very friendly and willing to serve you. They work hard for their tips. I was happy with the food even though a lot of people said the food in Cuba is bad. The Romantic restaurant was the best one. I enjoyed the swim up bar even though there was a funny smell some days. Even though it was march break you could always find a chair to sit on. The Beach was not the best because I found the water weedy and unclear and it was hard to find a chair to sit on. I was ho[... read more]ping to snorkel off the beach. If you go to this hotel be prepared to walk up and downstairs a lot. Some of the resort is in need of care. Mine and my sons bed were comfortable but my husband had some springs that stuck out. It would be nice to have some beverages in the fridge to enjoy on the balcony. we enjoyed the taxi ride into town to visit a farm and see how really Cuban's live. This was an eye opener for my son. The dolphin excursion was the best part of the trip but costly. I think I would go back to Cuba but not holugin because the airport is absolutely ridiculous and very unorganized.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Hazy Memories
This hotel has wonderful staff everywhere, from the entertainment team to the snack bar servers and guest services. The beach is beautiful and chairs plentiful. The pool is a lot of fun but not as many chairs and you have to get up at the crack of crow to secure a spot at the pool.
Always found something to eat at the buffet, but there was a lot of weird looking prepared items that just were not appetizing. Took a few days to enjoy the buffet.
The rooms are tired and worn out. We were pla[... read more]ced in an absolutely terrible room in building 10 and overlooked garbage from the hurricane. The patio door lock was broken and the door did not open without some strength to get the glass open. It took from 3 pm arrival until 6pm the next evening to get into a new room. It was a much improved but still tired looking. I was shocked when I read somewhere that this resort is only five years old. The public bathrooms are quite dark, the floor wet, and the smell was not pleasant. There were ladies working constantly to keep them clean. Maybe the hotel needs to provide a sheet to people new to resort about the unique etiquette of paper handling.
I would not go back to this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Loved it!!
Stayed here March 7-14. Stayed in bldg.25....newly renovated room...only thing it didn't have a bathroom door which I heard about before booking, and almost didn't book here because of this.Travelled with my cousin and my 17 year old daughter..very awkward at times, but we brought tacks with us and the beach towel in the room fit perfectly!! Strange why there is no door. Anyway loved the layout at this resort...our bldg.was so close to the beach...and the best beach I have seen in all my visits t[... read more]o Cuba.(been there 12 times). The food is typical for Cuba...always try to stick to the fresh cooked stations. Bit of a wait in line, but worth it. Everything is kept very clean here...the staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful..the entertainment here is great...nice shows at night and lots of activities during the day if that is what you want. Don't miss the bar called Route 66...best drinks on the resort. We found it 2 days before we left.Kinda hidden away, and only open 3-11pm. Nice beach bar and snack bar makes the best pizzas for you. I will definatly be going back to this resort again...loved the quietness here as well....no kids makes a nice change...not a place if you like to party...gets very quiet at around 11pm. All in all I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.
