Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Punta Cana Vacation

This was our first trip to the Caribbean and the resort was fabulous. Service was top notch and the beach was perfect. The food was very good with a great selection at the buffet; as well as a nice assortment of A La Carte restaurants.

Barcelo Solymar: Beach! Beach! Beach! Location! Location! Location!

I always stay at the Solymar when vacationing in Varadero. The resort itself is just OK. It has many of the same issues common to to all resorts in Cuba. Lack of beach towels, food is not great but OK, rooms are OK, service..well everything works on Cuban time etc,etc. That being said the Solymar by far occupies the best part of the beach and is in the best location, walking distance to Varadero. BTW I don't walk but you can. It is not an overly large resort which I prefer so it's easy to  [... read more]get around and only a 5 min walk to the beach from main building. I've stay at Grand Memories once as a friend wanted swim up bar and although that resort did exceed the Solymar in size and grandeur I would not go back. It was terrible location and the beach was small not to mention minimum 20 min walk. I was so disappointed. Everything depends on what you want out of Cuba. For me it's beach and nightlife. And for those of you who constantly complain about the food, go off the resort, so many great places to eat. The Solymar also has a large number of repeat visitors, constantly running into familiar people.

Barcelo Solymar: Lacking something

Ok this hotel is getting run down. The cards for rooms werent working. No beach towels or bath towels. The food is not great. Really nice beaches but hotel service is not good. Ppl at front desk very disorganized. They need to shape up the place. They actually ran out of beer. Not very good and I go there twice a year.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Resort that has it all. Except.

Great facilities and location. Beach is spacious with lots of white sand, but water shoes is useful due to the coral. Lots of available chairs to relax in. Food is great with lots of variety, but does not cater very well to Gluten Free, as they simply said "everything has gluten" not very helpful, and did not seem to care except in the Japanese Restaurant. Not a very friendly resort as there was little socializing due to no musical attractions in the lobbies except for the Piano player who wo [... read more]uld play every second night for a short time. Had a hard time getting our room cleaned, as they missed doing it for 2 days, and had to ask them to do it on a third day after 4 pm. For us I thought this was going to be "Our" resort, but we would no go back to our needs of allergies and not a friendly resort.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Disappointed

We went to Barcelo resort in Maya Revira last year and was quite enjoy the hotel. We thought stick to the same resort chain just to be safe. This time we are quite disappointed at Punta Cana Barcelo Babaro Palace: there are flies chasing the food at buffet, and we have to fight with flies at dinner table for our utensils and glasses. Either of us are drinkers, we were hoping to enjoy some good dining at this five star hotel, I have to say that the restaurant food are not impressive either.

Occidental Caribe: Fabulous time in Punta Cana!!

People were all wonderful, drinks were great and plentiful, rooms were clean and well kept, pools were absolutely glorious, shows and performers were very enjoyable, pool side entertainment was tons of fun, ocean and beaches were breathtaking, food was okay.... reservation restaurants were good, however, buffet not the greatest.. was always able to find something to eat though. Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Great Holiday

Staff was amazing from the pool to the canteena (Jose and Adrian). Japanese supper was excellent. Conceiarge was very helpful if you need them. Room was nice always clean and kept the bar fridge stocked.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Terrific resort

it was my first time in the Riviera Maya area and I can t thank enough Karol for recommending me that resort. The lobby s of all associated hotels are just incredible to look at and the upkeep of all the grounds are amazing.The beach are clean and you never get bothered by vendors all over the beach try to sell you things.The choice of all the a la carte restaurant are great and easy to book as well. You can go to the concierge office and book 2 or 3 days ahead with absolutely no issues.The buff [... read more]et are out of this world.The choices that you have for meats, pastas or if you are a vegetarian are out of this world.They even have all day the choice of having i believe they are call mimosa ( champagne/bubbly with orange juice) all day.The decor of each hotel are terrific and when you walk around at night time, well ! it takes on a total amazing experience with all the water pools and fontaines , it is just incredible.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Another great vacation at Barcelo Bavaro Beach

This was our third trip to the Barcelo Bavaro Beach. We had an oceanfront King size room. The bed was very comfortable. Love the bathroom with dual sinks and separate toilet and shower area. Cleaning lady did a fabulous job. Floor was so clean as was the rest of the resort including the bathrooms. We found that the restaurants (on both the Beach and Palace side) even better than last year. The Mexican was our favorite. The house wine on the Palace side has improved, however the red  [... read more]wine (didn't try the white) on the Beach side is still not drinkable. Service at the buffet for Lunch was very good, however coffee service at breakfast was still slow, which would have been fine but we were in a bit of a rush to make our tee time at the golf course. All employees extremely friendly. We enjoyed that there were so many places for night entertainment, from the sports bar, to the singing and piano in the lounge next to the casino, not to mention the entertainment show every night which you could catch at either the Beach or Palace side. The beach was spectacular as usual. Love the natural shade from Palm trees. No problem getting chairs and no-one reserved. Seaweed was cleaned up every morning and the water was clear every day. The golf course was absolutely beautiful. We will definitely be returning again.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Amazing 5 star resort!

I travel to Mexico 3 times a year for vacations and always stay at various 5 star resorts. Royal Hideaway Playacar is a favorite. The food is out of this world and the staff go above and beyond to pamper you. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The landscaping is gorgeous. If you are a beach person, this resort is for you. Best beach in Mexico. Pools are beautiful too. In closing, this resort is truly a 5 star resort and you will not be disappointed.

Occidental Caribe: Punts Cana

The hotel Occidental Caribe was excellent. Resort, rooms, staff and food was wonderful. The resort is spacious with lots of things for all ages to do. My only complaint is I requested a room facing the front of the resort on the 2nd floor and we got a 4th floor room facing the back of resort.

Barcelo Solymar: wrong rating

this resort had a wrong rating 4+ it is not. max is 3 ,employees are all set into a bribe system ,you pay they will look into your problem ,you don't they will ignore you .it is totally run down old resort , they tell you as you arrive do not drink the water and they serve ice with bad water , few days and the diarrhea starts ,also, they are admitting that what you paid for is what you get ,broken door locks ,missing light bulbs ,noisy AC that if it works ,terrible mattress you feel the spring [... read more]s in your bones ,not even bed covers available as per the photos,4 days no towels and when you ask they say the laundry machine is broken but the privilege one gets towels every day .due to lack of visitors they shut down the best part of the resort and sold the rundown one .we talk to the sunwing agent and his respond not much i can do just don't stay her next time not much he can do .

Allegro Playacar: Amazing resort

Hotel newly renovated rooms the same and the grounds were beautiful staff werr very pleasant. Close to shopping 5th Avenue is a must to see,lots to do.Beautiful sandy beach. Great entertainment very night. A GOOD variety of food.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Very good resort!

Reception: well trained and knowledgeable staff work the front desk. Check in was smooth. Room: we had a second floor room and everything worked as it should (air conditioner, mini-fridge, lighting, plumbing, patio door, room safe and television). Appointments were tasteful and practical for our needs. Bed was comfortable. Room itself was very large and well laid out, and lots of natural light. SPA/Gym: we didn't use the spa services, but toured the facilities and they were clean and [... read more] luxurious. The gym was small and divided into sections across two rooms. Free weight dumb bells, and a few multi-station machines and benches ensured an ability to do a full work out. The cardio equipment is in a separate room, and the only negative is that it is a very small room and not well ventilated. Restaurants: there are five a la carte restaurants (with limited serve yourself options at breakfast and lunch at one restaurant) Grill/Beach Grill: mornings and noon included a la carte and self-serve options. Breakfast was hot and fresh and very well maintained. Omelettes and eggs made to order. Lunch was much the same with a decent variety of options on the a la carte. Supper presents a steakhouse inspired menu with decent options that are well prepared. Asian: variety of Asian inspired dishes, but did not score highly in terms of taste. Dishes were fresh none the less and well made, just not tasty compared to what you are likely used to at home. Ventanas: (international theme) - lots of options, but tastes will vary. Familiar dishes prepared with the chef's own twist. Polazzo: (Italian) - great selection, well prepared, and tasty. Southern and northern dishes, as well as some more traditional North American fare. Spices: very good Mexican menu. Fresh, and well presented. Some authentic dishes as well as North American inspired offerings. Pools: two great pools (one infinity and one lap pool). Lots of activities to keep people busy around the pool, and excellent drinks/food service is provided. All with an ocean view! Beach: the beach is outstanding. Lots of lounger chairs, sun beds and shade for those who prefer staying out of the sun. Very quiet, as it is a very large area, and further removed from the flow of foot traffic of people walking along the beach itself. Grounds: very well maintained and clean. Quiet, despite the proximity to other resorts. Easy to get from one area to another and well marked. Staff: very motivated, pleasant and attentive. New staff is shadowed by more experienced staff as part of their onboarding strategy. Always helpful and eager to please and they take great pride in their customer service. Bars: some work could be done to better integrate the guest experience. Bars seem to be focused on serving the restaurants (in the main building) - a suggestion would be to offer more snacks throughout the day/afternoon to encourage visitors to hang out. Drinks are well made and served up quickly. Top shelf liquor, but oddly, no Sol beer. It's an easy enough walk into Playa del Carmen along the beach (20 minutes or so) and this is a bonus if you want to shop or dine off the resort. Great time, would recommend to couples who aren't seeking a nightlife experience, but a relaxing, fulfilling getaway.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Amazing resort!

It was spotless! The staff were all so very friendly, welcoming, they were always working so hard to make your stay easy. The rooms were basic, but you are only sleeping there so no biggie. This resort had everything you need all in one. The kids waterpark near Tropical is highly recommended my kid was there daily for hours. Water beautiful blue with white soft sand, fishes swimming, turtles hanging out and the water was so warm as well. Also for food, the Kyoto la Carte was delicious, so was the Spanish restaurant, La Fuente, the buffets had food for everyone! It was really good, they had theme nights and overall the snack bars, buffets, a la carte's that we tried were really good. I don't have any complaints.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: All good!

Clearly a resort the Barcelo group can be proud of! We took an 8 day stay and absolutely loved it. The grounds, beach, every public area and rooms were impeccably clean and well maintained. Polite and smiling personnel. The food: fresh, varied and well presented. Well above average. I have nothing negative to say except we would have stayed longer...

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Golf Spectacular!!!

From the moment we arrived at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace we were treated like royalty. Premium cocktails served while checking in, gracious staff in all areas of the resort, beautiful ocean view suite, restaurant choices from casual to formal and the golf!!!! A Pete Dye designed 18 hole masterpiece complete with 4 flamingos who reside on the back nine. Barcelo Maya Palace: Great trip!!

The hotel was great!! The staff were amazing!! The grounds were beautiful. I did find the time after dinner to be kind of burning. We are not into shows so maybe an outdoor bar for drinks and music would go a long way. Would definitely go back! Thanks for the recommendation.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Review catered for parents travelling with infant

Overall we had a good experience in Barcello Maya Grand Resort. We travelled there from Nov. 6, 2018 to Nov. 13, 2018 with a 9 month old infant. We loved everything from the kiddie pools, the swim up bar, the restaurants, the food. Few things that the resort may need to look into is hiring staff with minimal level of English speaking ability. Also having items such as a kettle to boil water in the room (esp. for an infant) or prioritizing rooms with a microwave with parents that have infants,  [... read more] would be of great help since the tap water is not ideal for washing/cleaning bottles. Also the noise level for the night shows are also not the greatest for parents with infants that have a sleeping/napping schedule. The nightly shows that run as late as 11 pm are definitely something should be considered when assigning rooms to parents with infants. Our infant contracted hand/foot/mouth disease on our 2nd last night at the resort. Although this isn't directly related to the resorts ability to control, parents considering a trip to tropical climate should be aware of this viral contraction is very possible as it is apparently a very common (having medical insurance is definitely recommended). Allegro Cozumel: Allegro Cozumel

The resort is small, clean and very quiet. The rooms are updated but walls are paper thin making it difficult to sleep if you are in bed early. Food is ok, not much selection if your not Mexican nationals. Reserving the specialty dinners was difficult, they seemed to have issues with reservations and timing. Date and times we were told were not available, were, to friends who booked a day after we tried to. The food at the sports bar was terrible, I complained, next day there were hot dogs.  [... read more]The employees at the front reservation desk did not resolve concerns, rather skated the concern, came back the next day and spoke to a women who did resolve. The beach and water was great. I won't be going back to this resort, was good to try it, gained some understanding. I went to scuba dive, The dive center was good, good service and the dives were great with very experienced dive masters, top rating to Pro Dive Although the rooms are updated and clean, I gave it a fair rating due to the paper thin walls/ceiling where the next door folks can be heard a fair rating
