Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing trip, definitely returning! Most friendly staff
Absolutely beautiful resort property, gorgeous plants, trees etc. Gardeners work hard to keep it nice! Hotel getting upgrades currently which hopefully update more. Rooms are comfortable, staff is the BEST! Of 3 resorts I've been to, this one I keep going back. Food was better than average Cuban. Definitely repeat foods but so much variety there's always more than enough. If you're traveling for the food, you may want to pass, but the beauty, the beach and staff are just the best!!
Melia Peninsula Varadero: It was a nice resort
I found this place nice and the staff were friendly. The room was not in great shape and needed some repairs. The towels were not changed for five days. Some plugs did not work. The other areas were nice.
Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort, awesome staff
Fantastic Holiday, no complaints about food, staff or accommodation. Cuba is experiencing food shortages like everywhere else, but they still maintained an excellent selection and the food was great for Cuba. One very important note, the Cuban pesos are completely devalued and are no good to Cuban's. They offer good deals to exchange your money for their pesos, but you can't actually spend them anywhere. Bring cash and don't exchange it! We ran out of cash and I was going to withdraw some from a [... read more]
Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful reef and beaches and scenery
This was my second visit to this resort. Enjoyed my vacation. The food was better than my last visit. Lots of fruit and veggies. It's typical cuban resort foods. Plenty of rice and bean dishes, great breads, lots of meat choices, interesting desserts. There was no butter available. The meat cuts were odd, often gristle and bones with the meat but tasty. A couple of times no coffee but other than that the food was adequate. There are some small restaurants up the road that had good meals. They ch [... read more]
Melia Internacional: Melia International - Don't Go!
Having been to Cuba 14 times, we had very low expectations provided the current economic situation. We DID expect Good Customer Service as the Cubans are some of the most amazing people. To our disappointment this resort was far from Hospitable, or Happy! Upon arrival we were not welcomed like our usual past trips to Cuba. No smiles, no drinks, no warm welcome. Felt like we were intruding. The resort was 50% capacity, and after requesting a pool view room, we were placed in a corner lookin [... read more]
Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: very nice experience
Warm staff, nice and family-style environment, food exceed our expectations especially when knowing that Cuba local people are suffering under insufficiency of food in their daily life. Rooms are a little bit old, but views are excellent!
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Standard Quiet Resort
I would say that this is a standard resort on a much smaller scale. This is also a quiet resort that caters more to older adults. So definitely not for the party animals. No disco! The resort grounds, facilities and room are okay. The food situation in this resort is very unfortunate. Options are very very very limited. This probably is the result of the shortage/crisis. I hope this will improve over time. There is nothing mind blowing about this resort but I would still recommend it for those w [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: I would recommend this resort!
Rooms are clean and the resort is clean and well maintained. You are never hungry. Recommend the Japanese restaurant and the Cuban as well. Super amazing staff always there to help with a big smile! Bar staff was entertaining. Lobby was a great place to join up to meet with a group. Champagne night to light the Christmas tree was fun.
Melia Las Americas: Just Ok
The resort is ok, not worth 2k per person when you can get so much more in DR & Mexico for the same price. They lacked fruit, vegetables and mixes for most booze. Do not go until the figure out the golf cart/maintenance situation. A group of 48 golfers will not be back (not my group). Cuba is taken advantage of their loyal vacationers and offering little in return.
Melia Las Americas: Good and comfortable resort
Good resort, I would like to see improvements in the rooms, when I pre-requested a room with a view and a king size bed the hotel staff said they would change rooms everyday at 3pm for four straight days. This to me was not acceptable. The al a carte restaurants were lacking for a five star there was only three choices and I found they served the same food found in the buffets.
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Not a 4.5 star hotel, maybe a 3
This hotel is old. In our room, the safe was not attached to anything, the patio door couldn't open, bedding was stained. This was fixed after we spoke to the front desk. Bathrooms on resort were terrible. Most of the time there was no toilet paper, no soap to wash hands, broken locks on doors, toilets wouldn't flush, no water to wash hands. Grounds looked okay. None of the large water fountains were working and the pool must of had a leak because the water level was down by a foot. At the b [... read more]
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Spectacular Resort!
We upgraded to the Diamond Service and felt pampered. They provided a free excursion with the Diamond Service and we chose the snorkle/diving tour. I am not that into snorkeling so I just stayed on board with the awesome Captain George for the short snorkle stop and then off to a beautiful island barbeque. We found the food at this tour and at the resort to be very tasty and of good variety as we booked a different night at the various restaurants at the Resort. We especially loved the Cuban Res [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort
The Iberostar Laguna Azul is a beautiful resort; The beaches and staff are second to none. You will however have to adjust to some deficiencies. Always have toilet paper with you. In public areas, once the roll empties it will stay that way until morning. Bring hand sanitizer as well. There are several hand sanitizer dispensers around the resort but they are all empty and when the soap in the bathrooms empty they too will stay that way until the morning. Other than adapting to the lack of h [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Our Cuban Home
This is our 18th stay at this resort. Our expectations are in balance with the standards of resorts in Cuba. The staff at Los Cactus are very diligent with cleaning in response to Covid. We experienced no concerns with the sanitary conditions. The economy in Cuba and the small number of guests caused some reduction in serving staff, entertainment and selection at the buffet. The staff are courteous and helpful beyond any other resort we have visited. This is what keeps us coming back to th [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: Beautiful little resort
We have been to this property for many years. We love the size, location, and most of all the beaches. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. Like every other country they have suffered very much because of CoVid. Supplies are limited and sometimes non-existing, they work hard with what they have. CoVid has set them back 10 to 15 years. But still great to visit. With the change of money their government has made it extremely hard for them to buy groceries and supplies for their househ [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful resort
The resort itself was beautiful, the gardens and trees was amazing. All the staff were fantastic people, got to know a few of them in the short time I was there. The rooms were good, except ran out of toilet paper one day when it was needed. So now for the bad part, cockroaches in our food. They were everywhere in the buffet restaurant. I was eating rice, took one mouth full and was about to have another one when I noticed a dead cooked cockroach in my rice. Disgusted. After that was hearing a [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Meh
I can’t say I’d recommend this resort to anyone. I was travelling alone this time so my standards aren’t what they would be if I was with someone important. Food was substandard, I expected this from the country however, this particular resorts selection was less than limited. A la cart was always followed by a trip to the buffet to top up or to forget what you did eat at the restaurants. Rusted fixtures in the bathrooms and water was hit and miss for washing. Sometimes it worked sometime [... read more]
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Awsone resort
Everything and everyone was very nice accomidatng. I have zero complaints. Will return agai everything was clean.. staff were wonderful.. Food was good. If your expecting gourmet food you won't get it.. it's cuba and there food is bought in... So if your going for the food don't. Lol I didn't starve the was lots to eat...
Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Relaxing resort
The grounds, pools and rooms were very nicely kept. The service was excellent. The food was terrible but that is out of your control. There wasn't enough activity to keep it lively so very boring especially after sundown. The beach was sensational.
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Exceptional
Great time at Royalton Hicacos. Friendly staff, lots to do, fantastic beach facilities. Loved the jazz bar and variety of shows they brought every night - especially opera night. Had so much fun. Will go again ASAP.
