Riu Palace Bavaro: Great Family Vacation

The hotel and the gardens were beautiful, well kept, and clean. We were satisfied with the size of our room as well as the view from the balcony. The best part of our stay is the service we got from everyone working there. They were friendly, courteous, and always willing to please. However there was one thing that was most annoying during the week and that was the fact that the elevators were out of commission most of the time. We were also disappointed that although we booked as a group we were all in different sections on different floors. We travelled with our children and grandchildren. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Riu Palace Bávaro and wouldn’t hesitate to return for another vacation.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Great resort

Great resort. Very nice beach. A lot of private pools for the swim up. Not stroller friendly. No reservation in restaurant so you have too wait to have a place (sometimes 1hour). Overall very nice place! Be careful because if you miss the information meeting on the second morning, the rep of transat will NOT give you the time of the shuttle to go back to the airport. (Will do a complaint about it).

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Royalton Bavaro - the good and the bad

We travelled here in January 2024 with our 8 month old son, 6 yr old daughter and MIL. Overall impression is we would stay here again. Lets start with the good: PREMISES - clean and well maintained grounds. Pools were regularly cleaned of floating debris though opening hours were a little funny. Sign by the splash pad stated open at 9am but water features were inoperable until 10ish most days. ROOM - spacious and comfortable for our family of 4, though we were not able to get adjoining [... read more] rooms for MIL, we were in the same building on a different floor. Bonus points for set up on arrival - double queen room was also equipped with a crib for our infant and pull out couch was made into a bed for our daughter. Did not use the crib, but thoughtful none the less. POOLS - good varierty and layout. Splash pad kept both kids entertained - our son had fun standing up in his floatie and our daughter loved the slides and water features. Its also equipped with an awning to keep part of the pool shady. Childrens pool between infinity pool and diamond club pool was a great place to escape the hot afternoon sun, as it is fully covered by an awning. The lazy river was a hit for the whole family - the 2 slides were well loved and a nice surprise is that it's only 1m deep, with some sunny and some shady portions. STAFF - majority of the staff were warm and friendly, with a few at the buffet, bars and housekeeping going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. BEACH - having taken a walk 2km in each direction, it looks like this resort has one of the widest portions of beach. We found that, like many other reviewers wrote, you had to put a towel down in the morning if you wanted a lounger. The water was clear and beautiful, made for great photos in the late afternoon. Its was pleasant to walk into, but unfortunately too wavy for paddle boarding/ kayaking. We brought a life jacket for our daughter and she had a blast. BUFFET - as far as buffets go, good presentation and variety at breakfast and dinner - only place we could dine with small children in a timely manner IMO - see restaurant reviews. Now, for the could use improvement: RESTAURANTS - not an option at dinner time (during our stay, at least) unless you were diamond club OR wanted to be seated at 730pm. One evening after standing in line for 30 minutes before open, we were able to secure a table at Grazie for 730pm. Food was not worth the wait - average at best and service was terrible from start to finish. After this experience we spent the rest of our dinners at the buffet, but saw a massive line up for tables on a daily basis. CHECK IN/ CHECK OUT - service was slow, and staff was uninformative. Too much of a language barrier to be able to get answers to questions about amenities. This could really use improvement. AIRPORT TRANSFER - though not a reflection of the hotel, worth a mention as it is part of the package. The staff at the nexus desk were completely disinterested in providing us with info about pick up times, providing vague and incorrect information to the point where we missed our transfer and took a taxi to the airport out of pocket. Overall these were annoying, but not significant, inconveniences. The resort was largely as advertised, and all staff were pleasant - some going above and beyond. Based on this experience i would return to a Royalton resort.

Temptation Miches Resort 21 Plus: Disappointment

Arrived Jan 3-10 temptations miches punta Cana. No reply from sunwing or trip central that the resort changed ownership and was closing Jan 15. Resort was literally empty after 3nights and supply on the resort was cut back due to closing. Will rethink booking sunwing and trip central next trip. Glenn Winnipeg.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Beautiful Grounds

We were repeat customers to this resort and have always loved it but found this time customer service was lacking. The younger staff if they did not understand what you were asking for, would just shake their head yes and never come back! Self-service has a whole new meaning for us! The grounds are beautiful and everything very well maintained.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Fantastic Family Vacation

Family of 3 (mom, 8 yo, and 4 yo) had a fantastic week in the sun. The kids loved all the water slides and the beach. We spent our entire days outside swimming and exploring. The Kids Club (child minding) was a wonderful break for parents and fun social activities for the kids. The food was bland but we always found something for everyone to enjoy (including lots of ice cream!). This was a repeat visit for us (we went 5 years ago). Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Stay away!

Terrible (slow) service, run down and unsafe. Took 3 hours to check in and buffets were dirty and had bugs. They ran out of alcohol (tequila and rum) mid stay. We will not be returning and felt as though we paid for a 5 star but went to a 2 star max

Occidental Caribe: Acceptable for the price

Hotel installations were quite dated, a lot of maintenance is required around the hotel. Bathrooms in the rooms need to be improved. Staff is very friendly though. Beach and location are both amazing. No service on the beach, nor pool area. Enough food diversity, options to please anyone. Difficult to get cutlery and coffee and beverages during peek buffet hours… Restaurants a la carte aren’t amazing, difficult to reserve too. If you can get a good deal and are not too pi [... read more]cky I’d recommend. The hotel to me is more like a 3.5 star and not a 4 star hotel. We still enjoyed ourselves, but this review is a heads up for people that are picky for the elements mentioned above.

Checking in late after a long flight on New year's eve was disappointing though, as we were tired and just wanted to get to our room to rest. Amazing resort, beautiful beaches and friendly staff. Stayed in the adult only section and it was great . Would recommend this resort to friends and family. Lots of entertainment and food 24hrs a day

Serenade Punta Cana Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful Resort

The hotel is very nice and the pools are well maintained and crystal clear the rooms are large and so is the decks What I didn’t like was the resort is in total darkness at night so if you need to leave your room it is quite scary

Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: Beautiful Resort

The grounds and the resort was beautiful as it is brand new. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable beds and are well lit. We had a ground floor room that had our own swim out pool which was very nice to have and I would book that again. There are 2 sides to this resort a family side and then the adult only side. We just returned a couple days ago from the adult only side and I will say that it is an extremely quiet resort if you are looking for rest and relaxation. I was however disappointed that [... read more] the sports bar and all the daily & nightly entertainment all took place on the family side though as it would have been nice to have some entertainment throughout the day. The resort was like a ghost town come 9pm at night with a few people sitting on their balconies and that's it, super quiet at night. If you are a sun lounger and love to be up early and have a few day drinks, lay by the pool or beach and read a book and then go to bed early then this is a perfect resort for that cause nothing goes on at night. Beach was beautiful, nice turquoise clear water and you could walk out forever and only be up to the chest. Very little seaweed and no rocks. Food was good, but again not a lot of choices on the adult only side. The Mediterranean & Italian were both on the Family side so the only choice for special dining was the Steak House and the Asian and you could choose between an a la carte menu or the Hibachi dining at the Asian and the Breseria at the SteakHouse which was amazing and the best meal ever!! They bring around a selection of meats and seafood that they cut off of a large skewer onto your plate so you get a variety to try (beef, chicken, shrimp, sausage, bacon wrapped chicken, pork loin, whole roasted pineapples) and it's all timed nicely so it ends up being a nice relaxing dinner not rushed. They also serve a bunch of different sides to the table for sharing as well (French fries, baked potato, vegetables, mushrooms, and different meat sauces) Amazing variety!! The Buffet was always different though and offered a nice variety so you aren't eating the same foods daily. I would still go back to this resort again as I loved the relaxation and quiet but it would be nice to see a few more activities and entertainment happening on the adult side too!!

Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana: Great resort!

Clean, well kept but too many cats roaming around. Need more chairs at the beach. Can't walk the beach but waves are awesome. Butler was overrated, he didn't do much for us. Food was great. Felt safe. We would definitely go back.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Jewel Punta Cana

The grounds were very well kept and very clean. There was always someone cleaning up leaves. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very clean but in need up an update. I did hear that the resort is closing at the end of the month for the update. The buffet always had lots of variety and the servers were very friendly. Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: Very very happy with this resort.

Amazing resort! The food was great. Loved the pools and beach. With a new resort there are always a few bugs to work out but I think they are in the process of doing that. Was fun to to visit the family side for the entertainment.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Amazing food!

Loved this hotel! Clean, easy to access everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Gym is huge and well equipped and the food at the buffet was like nothing I have ever seen. Great place for families.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Great for families!

The property is beautiful and very well kept. Our rooms were large. Housekeeping was good but not always consistent when it came to renewing coffee accessories. Excellent, friendly staff but disappointed with Concierge who wasn't much help., possibly because she had too many people to handle. Disappointed in entertainment, especially the lack of anything special on New Year's Eve, just a singer and not the party advertised. The property is not really accessible for the disabled. I had a w [... read more]alker with me and would not have been able to mount stairs to buffets without help as there were no handrails. Good variety of food. Great for families but a bit overcrowded. Difficult to get chairs by pools and beach as other residents had claimed them by leaving their towels on them really early in the morning and then left them empty while they went off somewhere else leaving other residents searching for somewhere to sit. Overall, a good experience. Weather was certainly lovely!

Ocean El Faro: Frequent washroom runs

The grounds were great, the beach rocky and secluded and the entertainment ok. However the biggest issue we had was diarrhea. We had constant runs to the bathroom. We witnessed staff cleaning cups with water alone, no soap. Would not recommend it to others.
