Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Staff and food are amazing!
The grounds are meticulously maintained but the buildings and rooms themselves are very tired and in need of some updating. The staff are amazing and so was the food! Plenty of space to spread out on the beach and lots of chairs available as well!

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Royalton (not so) Chic
We are a group of men who have been enjoying an annual guys' trip for the past 25 years. Over the years, we've visited Punta Cana multiple times, but this was our first stay at Royalton Chic. Typically, we take online reviews with a grain of salt, dismissing minor complaints. However, after our experience at your resort, we felt compelled to share our thoughts in the hopes that constructive feedback will help improve future guests' stays.
Areas for Improvement:
Sanitation Concerns: Many pu[... read more]blic bathrooms lacked hand soap, which is a significant hygiene issue, especially since guests handle food at the buffet.
Also, we also observed bar staff quickly rinsing dirty drinkware without soap.
Limited Amenities: There were not enough chairs or umbrellas around the pools and the beach, and the absence of towel cards allowed guests to hoard chairs unnecessarily.
Infrastructure: Broken and missing tiles, crumbling areas, and dated furniture detracted from the resort's overall appearance. In our room, the closet doors had to be removed to access the closet.
Basic Room Essentials: Bathroom tissues were scarce, bottled water and beer replenishment in the room took four days and 15 requests, and it took an entire week to get batteries for the TV remote.
Activities and Entertainment: The lack of water sports, minimal nightlife, and limited activities left us with little to do on-site. Guests even had to clean up the volleyball court themselves to play safely.
Dining: While the à la carte restaurants were enjoyable, the buffet was repetitive and lacked variety.
What We Enjoyed:
Friendly Staff: Your staff’s hospitality was exceptional, and we’d like to give special recognition to Maribi in the coffee bar, Alexandra at the buffet, and Pedro at the bar near the Indian restaurant. They were consistently friendly and attentive, which greatly enhanced our experience.
À la Carte Dining: The food in the specialty restaurants was delicious and well-prepared.
We strongly encourage the management to conduct regular walk-throughs of the property to identify and address these issues. While we appreciated the friendliness of your staff and some aspects of the dining experience, the resort's shortcomings overshadowed these positives.
We hope you take this feedback to heart and make the necessary improvements so that future guests can fully enjoy their stay. Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Don’t waist your money!
When I had booked there was good reviews but about a week before we left for the trip I started seeing horrible reviews warning us about food poisoning, miserable staff, horrible rooms and food. I tried to stay positive knowing some people are over dramatic. When we got there we tried to have an open mind. We were very disappointed when we arrived the first night into our room. The pictures make it look like it’s newly renovated but it’s just a cheep “lipstick on a pig” makeover, very poorly cov[... read more]ering a dated room and not clean at all. The toilet barely flushed and you weren’t aloud to put toilet paper in the toilet, we were told to throw it in the garbage after you wipe. Disgusting. But again we tried to get past it. The bedding was clean at least. The next morning we woke around 8am, excited to hit the buffet for breakfast. It was horrible. The pancakes and French toast were hard as a rock from sitting there or being reheated, the eggs were gross. Both me and my partner felt sick leaving, really disappointed again. We then went to the pool to try and enjoy the rest of the day to find that there was not one pool chair available. So we could sit around the pool as there was not enough chairs for the amount of people at the resort. We got chatting with others at the resort who told us you had to be up by 7am with some people waking up at 5:30am to come down and put a towel on the chair to claim them before others did. So our vacation we had to wake crazy early every morning to run down and try to get a chair, which we did. We then went to the pool bar. The staff there were great and friendly (they were about the only ones), the drinks were good. The pool was gross and had hair and gunk floating everywhere. The weather was hot so we used a whole bottle of sunscreen by the second day and went to go buy another bottle and it was 49$US it was nutts they Jack the prices up in the gift shops to insane prices. We were hopeful the other meals would be better at the buffet and were sadly disappointed. All the food was slop. Meat was raw sometimes in the middle.all the cheapest food products they could get. We tried the restaurants (which we ended up finding out you had to book reservations for and again had to be up by 7am to try and get a reservation, and not all the restaurants were open at the same time.) So when we finally did get into the restaurants they were pretty much the same food as the buffets. The same crap, we got up and left after one bite of our meals at every restaurant. I pretty much lived off of bread the whole week as the food was just unbelievably horrible. I will say we did not get food poisoning like others stated they did but we did have extreme diarrhea most of the trip. Speaking to the other travelers at the resort we realized quickly we were not the only ones feeling this way, everyone we spoke to agreed it was horrible, the food, the wait times for towels, drinks, hard to get any information on anything. Honestly we were excited to come home and have an actual meal.
Also side note all the rooms and halls had visible water damage and mold from the ground to about a half a foot up the wall from what we are assuming a flood, and they never repaired it. We were hoping for some entertainment on this trip, it started at 8:30 pm and went on until after midnight so loud you couldn’t sleep until it was over, which wouldn’t have been as horrible if we could sleep in but to get a chair at the pool or dinner reservation that was impossible. And to top it off we went to the beach to find it was dirty tons of garbage washed up and not cleaned up and stray animals everywhere which for me I found really hard to see and made me sick to my stomach as they were mostly limping and sick, and it ruined the dream beach experience for me personally.
My only positive experience on the trip was I booked a deep tissue massage at the spa and it was great.
During my stay I got food poisoning from their restaurants due to the food not being cooked properly and poor handling of the food by it not being cleaned and washed properly. I reported this 3 times to the front desk and guest services and was never compensated nor provided any medical attention or assistance. I was only given club soda and water that’s it. They took down my information but never filed it into the system. In addition to my poor experience we, as a young coloured couple were rac[... read more]ially discriminated due to our age and skin colour by given poor seating at the back of all the restaurants, poor service that the staff were acting obnoxious and rude and not respectful unlike the Caucasian elder people who came from European countries. I require compensation for the food poisoning that I obtained during my stay that I missed out over 4 days of vacation that I spent over $3000.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice resort, great value!
I recently stayed at the resort with my family (adult sons and mother) and we had a great time. The beach and pools were really nice and they host special events through the week, like an outdoor barbecue. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants but found the breakfast buffet light on options. The staff were very nice and accommodating, they really try to help you and ensure you are happy. The entertainment staff worked very hard to get everyone involved. The rooms are a little dated but clean and[... read more] I was comfortable. I would stay at the resort again.
I was really happy working with Trip Central for the first time and my agent Susan Snider was incredible! She made everything super easy and was happy to help me and answer my questions. My sons have names that made booking complicated but Susan ensured we had everything needed to travel easily, it was amazing! Overall we had a really nice trip!

Ocean El Faro: Great time Great resort
the hotel is very nice, it was our 3rd time at this resort. The 1st 2 times we had swim up rooms but we booked late and they did not have any available this time. we had a 1st floor pool view room that was okay but should have requested an upper floor with a balcony, but that is personal preference only.
They do a good job at up keeping the place, always have workers in the grounds & cleaning the place..
In the lazy river we found that this time there was not enough tubes to float around, not[... read more] sure if it was the time of year or that other people were just keeping them when not in the lazy river. Just a reminder to bring your own.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Beautiful Resort
This resort was spotlessly clean and staff were constantly maintaining the property. The staff we're exceeding friendly and very helpful. The food was very good in both the buffets and the restaurants. You hear many comments about don't drink the water in the Dominican but the water in the bars, restaurants and buffet was perfectly safe to drink. (and so was the ice which is all brought in in bags) They DO SAY do not drink the water from any taps in your rooms. We stayed away from the salads [... read more]due to warnings online about resorts in the Dominican, but many people were partaking daily and we did not hear of anyone having any issues.
The pools were beautiful and clean and so was the beach (beach swept each morning by machines to clean up any seaweed) Both the pool and the beach were short of chairs for the number of guests.
We had beautiful weather (January 7-14) and absolutely no bugs. We did hear of others being there in May and the mosquitos were very bad.
I had hoped to do some snorkelling from shore but it was very poor. There is a reef a ways in from shore and I did swim out there once and had a great time snorkelling. However, the boat traffic between the shore and the reef discouraged me from trying it again (and I was warned not to)
The only real complaint I might raise about this resort is that all of the entertainment was ridiculously LOUD !! We often let the area of entertainment due to the level of noise, which is a shame because it did seem like decent programs.
There was a shortage of things to do at the resort but they did offer excursions for a substantial fee.
Overall we were very pleased with this resort and would suggest it to friends looking for a beautiful place to rest and take in the sun.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort!
This is a beautiful resort with gorgeous grounds, amazing beach and lots to do — Lazy River is a huge bonus and so much fun!
While the rooms are a little dated, they are very clean with comfortable beds and good amenities like a hair dryer, ample closet space and a soaker tub. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Room service was reliable and always arrived within 45-minutes.
The a-la-carte restaurants are great with excellent service and good food. Our favourite was Grazie, the Italian res[... read more]taurant. Getting reservations was easy for us as we would log on to the Royalton app after midnight to reserve. We were able to get reservations for each restaurant. The buffet has lots of choice. The dishes were sometimes cold and we avoided anything (like cold cuts) that looked like they might not be kept at the right temperature.
The beach is absolutely beautiful with lots of loungers. The water is crystal clear and warm! The beach is well taken care of and is a reason all in itself to stay at this resort.
The resort activities at the Infinity pool were so much fun! Highlight was the foam party! The White Party fire show was fantastic, as was the Lion King performance at Royalton Square. The early evening musical entertainment was beautiful and really helped to create an enjoyable atmosphere.
The service was also excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is that the concierges are relentless in trying to sell you upgrades to Diamond Club (and maybe more — we never attended the pitch meeting) and we had to tell several of them “no” multiple times. It put a damper on the trip as we were worried about running into them throughout the day.
Themed “days” like Tex-Mex by the Infinity Pool served some of the best resort food we have ever had. They also brought in outside bands on these days that you can listen and dance to from the pool (or on the deck). You can tell the Royalton Bavaro team puts a lot of thought into entertaining their guests.
The excursion staff also give you a really hard sell and don’t often take your first “no” as an answer. This was just a mild annoyance as they were all very friendly.
We would 100% recommend this resort to families with children from 1 to 17. We travelled with our 17-year old and she had a blast! ☀️?

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Wouldn’t go back
The food was not great and it was a walk to get to anything. I didn’t appreciate them trying to sell their timeshare service. Booking restaurants through concierge is unnecessary they can only book a couple at a time. I would rather wait in line or book through an online app like other resorts. The best part was Heidy at the swim up bar. She was their best staff member. Also never any silverware or glasses at meals. Staff take forever to get you things at the Buffett.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Beautiful resort!
Positive: Nicely maintained buildings and property.
Lots of activities available
Nice beach
Good variety of food
Clean rooms and lounge areas
Park-like setting
Friendly staff everywhere
Negative: boat traffic is pretty close to shore …didn’t feel comfortable to swim out to the reef to snorkel. (There is a bouy line to define a swimming area)
We did not go on any excursions …mostly relaxed on the beach.
They could use a few more chairs at the beach and at the pool.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Disappointing Stay at Royalton Bavaro: Poor Service and Unmet Expectation
I recently stayed at the Royalton Bavaro, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected, especially considering the high price I paid.
I arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm, expecting a smooth check-in process, but instead, I was made to wait over an hour because my room wasn’t ready. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since the hotel’s check-out time is 12:00 pm, and yet they couldn’t manage to prepare the room on time.
The service throughout my stay was disappointing. I [... read more]had to call multiple times for basic requests, and even then, the response was slow and sometimes incomplete.
The room service was a major letdown. It was inconsistent, with items missing or delayed, and when they did arrive, it wasn’t up to the standard I expected from a resort of this caliber.
Even more frustrating was the state of the room itself – it wasn’t cleaned properly. The floors were dirty, towels were missing, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired.
Overall, I had high expectations given the price, but the experience fell far short of what I hoped for. Poor service, lack of cleanliness, and long waits made my stay stressful rather than enjoyable. I would not recommend the Royalton Bavaro based on my experience.

Beautiful hotel, service was great. Food was delicious. But unless you wanna be around 1 million children, this is not your place. The the people that vacation there are absolutely terrible! Very rude! not friendly at all. Was very disappointed. not to mention that I picked up a parasite there as well so I was sick the whole time. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very Nice
We just recently came back from a two week trip to Samana at the Viva V. We picked it because we were interested in checking out the town of Las Terrenas and it was the closest hotel. Unfortunately when we got there we realized that despite it only being a short 3-4km distance, to get there is a big up and down hill trip. That's okay. We took a cab to check it out.
The hotel itself is really pretty. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. That really makes it special. You can see that the gar[... read more]deners take great pride in their work.
The bay by the beach is amazing. It's so big! You can walk and walk and walk for hours and barely see anyone. There are some people surfing, but it's really quiet. The only downside is that when we were there it was a bit rough if you wanted to swim. But if you walked about 20 minutes to the left there was a really nice calm area for swimming.
The food was also really good. We loved the buffet. The a al carte restos were okay. I preferred the atmosphere and food in the buffet. There was always something tasty. We were there over New Years and the spread was incredible! They had hundreds of fresh shucked oysters and bubbly at midnight. The party was so much fun.
There was a show/entertainment every night. The animation staff are adorable and you can see that they are working hard to entertain the crowds.
Really, overall, we had a great holiday. The only small thing that is that you can't flush the toilet paper. That's not uncommon in the Caribbean but a lot of the guests weren't following the rules so the public toilets were often plugged. That was nasty. The staff were quick to fix, but it was a mess anyway. I don't know how you would fix that. It's too bad that people don't follow the rules.
Thanks for a great stay! We look forward to visiting again!

This is my second time at Dreams Onyx within the last three months. Unlimited a la carts, lots of pool loungers by pool, beach and lazy river. The staff are wonderful. Thanks to Jefry and Eliphet supplying drinks by the pool. Our favourite by far was Junior at the lobby bar. He made us amazing drinks every night, became a great friend and overall took great care of us. Looking forward to returning soon.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Mixed feelings
We had a problem with our toilet every day, it is an older resort. The food and drink were great, and the butler was a real bonus. Especially in light of the toilet situation. Very Quiet and isolated resort. Nice of you don’t want to see other people, boring if you do.
