Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Good resort

The hotel, Beach and pools fantastic. Weather was great. 7 days of sun. The service needs drastic improvements. You order a drink and it is takes 1/2 hour to get it. If you decide to go to the bar to order it yourself you wait again because they serve the waiters first then the client waiting. Towels were another problem. You went days without Fred’s beach towels.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: An OK Resort

I have been to Cuba 17 times and this resort falls into the okay resort. Pay for what you get! First day was a little mixed up.never met our butler nor did we get water nor the fridge restocked. Biggest issue when we got there was that they had no Cristal beer, tonic, soda water for days and our air condition did not work for 2 days. Once we got ahold of our person that fills the fridge he gave us 10 beer in our fridge for 10 pesos. The only way to insure we had beer. Wine was also hard to get. [... read more] We had to buy our own and bring to the buffet. There was plenty of food and it was good. There was very little service and you had to get your own drinks unless you tipped well.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: probably the best in Cayo Santa Maria but!!!!!!

Beautiful resort, beach, mature plants and trees and a very friendly helpful staff. The entire infrastructure is excellent but from what we heard from staff and repeat customers and seen ourselves is that everything is going downhill. The a/c stopped working in our building and other buildings including the dining room. It took a couple of sleepless nights because of the heat and humidity before ours was fixed but the dining room buffet area still wasn't fixed. Light bulbs burned out that never  [... read more]got replaced, general maintenance items need to be done. The buffet food is of good quality but the same food almost every meal every day and never any lobster or steak like it says in the ads. Cheap quality drinks at the bars. Example: menu says Baileys but its a cheap substandard Cuban brand. Even the beer, Kristal beer is Cuban and an excellent beer but they try hard to always give you Buccanaro beer. The staff will even tell you that they are concerned about the cutbacks and quality down-slide in the last three years, especially in the last 6 months. It's a shame that this is happening because the place is beautiful and it wouldn't take too much to make it a great resort. On the positive side the problems at this resort are small compared to the issues that guests experienced at other resorts in Cayo Santa Maria from the stories that we heard at the airport on our way home. Over the years we hear things like this is Cuba, this is good for Cuba etc. Those are lame excuses and I would hope that the owners/managers of these resorts would realize that travelers have many other excellent options to go to on vacation other than Cuba.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful Resort

The staff at this resort were absolutely lovely, the grounds beautiful and well maintained, the beach area large and clean, as were the pool areas. The lines for the buffets were often long and crowded but the food was not bad. The bathrooms were often not well stocked so it’s wise to bring hand sanitizer and tp along with you. Staff always went out of their way to help you or to ask how they can make your vacation more enjoyable. Would recommend.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Spectacular Beach!

The hotels lobby was clean and inviting. It was open, spacious and had a lovely view of the crystal blue water. The grounds were clean and manicured. The hotel room was spacious & clean but a bit out dated. But the shower was large, water pressure great and lots of hot water! The buffet (food barn) was plentiful and fresh- but we all know you don’t go to Cuba for the food lol

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Absolutely beautiful resort .

We traveled from Feb 22 to March 1st .Check in was quick and was very welcomed with beautiful smiles from 2 lovely ladies .Resort was stunning and beautiful we will be back .We had an Ocean view room was very beautiful especially at the end of the day when we wanted to unwind from the day .I can not say enough Thanks to all the staff at Dhawa you truly made our stay absolutely beautiful.The gardeners who I took the time each morning to say good morning to and give them a little something were m [... read more]ore then thankful .I met so many wonderful people I wish I could remember all their names .Gustava ,Ariel,you guys made our week truly amazing .Keep smiling Gustava you truly are a blessed soul .The beach here is amazing .The food was great .Dayana at the lobby bar is truly a sweetheart if you see her give her a big hug she is beautiful young lady,Always has a big smile .Overall an amazing resort and we are already planning for next year. .

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Horrible

This Trip was my husband and my first trip by ourselves. We got to the resort the room was not ready but that was okay with us we could go to the beach or pool until ready. When we had got the room there was the Bathroom window was a floor to ceiling with a white thin shower curtain that didn’t cover the window at the sides and you could see in when going to the bathroom or showering so showering needed to be in the night with the light out. The porch and pathways had no lights to room and fea [... read more]r of tripping on the stairs. Bathings in the resort either had no toilet paper or smelled or urine. They had no pool towels for 3 days after we got there. In the mornings they had no coffee at the resort many times ran out of beer and liquor during the day (there was water luckily but even that was running low) Room keys had to always be reset in order to get in the room. The staff was great but not knowledgeable about much. The food was the same and not too good. We ended up spending days at the Melia and only sleeping at Sol. This is an all inclusive resort that did not have sail boats and snorkeling as they didn’t pay the contract. The resort needs a major update. Not a enjoyable trip also hola sun reps were never there to sign up for the excursions(waiting for 3 hours after the time they stated they would be there and no show day after day. We didn’t bring children and I’m glad we didn’t there was a nude beach right beside us and absolutely nothing for kids to do. Same Cuban music over and over. I do not recommend this resort to anyone we are not picky at rooms or resorts but this was a total waste of money. Pictures are definitely from years ago.

Everything was at superlative, room very clean,beach, people, partys, pools, bar, .... everything Please don’t forget about the food, the food was very good too, so many options to choose from For breakfast, lunch or dinner I can’t wait to be there again Thank you

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great resort!

Enjoyed Oceans Casa Del Mar February 21 - 28, 2019. This was my 3rd time traveling to Cuba, first time at this resort. Check in was smooth, no hassles. Room was clean with a nice king bed. The bed pillows were not great, could have used a couple more. Nice open concept shower, and bathroom. Buffet food was OK. I never went hungry. Somethings like fries and bacon were not there every day. The 24 hour snack bar was terrible, especially during the late night hours. Excellent entertainment in the [... read more] lobby bar every evening, however the "Showtime" nightly entertainment was sub par, there was some talent, just needed more practice. Overall I had a great vacation. Having said that I will be taking a break from Cuba and spending my vacation money elsewhere.

Beautiful beach amazing staff but food was Cuba so you make due with what they have Chicken rice and French fries and their amazing ice cream As for resort definitely not a 4 star maybe a 3 which is sad as with better Management and no embargo it could gain it's full potential

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: A great time by the sea!

The Angsana Resort was the perfect place to celebrate an important milestone in our lives. The staff were courteous and always helpful. The rooms were spacious and the bed comfortable. The beaches were clean and the service excellent. We would recommend the Angsana Resort to friends and family with no hesitation.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Fabulous Resort

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at Angsana!! Beautiful resort and the ocean views were amazing - so close to the beach. Very nice walking beach as well as for swimming and snorkeling. Rooms and grounds clean and well maintained. Nice gym for anyone interested. There are 2 beaches - one shored with their sister hotel The Dhawa with a beach bar at both resorts and the kayaks, etc are located here. We only tried the Asian restaurant but the food was good. The food in the buffet was good as well - comparing to Cuban standards and I’ve been to Cuba a few times. Our room was lovely and we had a great view of the ocean - you could hear the waves and watch the pelicans! Internet worked well too and is available in the rooms, lobby and by the pool. You do need to have your internet time topped up as you’re given an hr each day but it’s free! Overall I’d rate our stay a 4.5. Really no complaints.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great vacation at Starfish

I liked this resort very much , lobby was inviting, staff very friendly, room was big with lots of closet space. Our maid was so friendly and accommodating - she was a gem. Grounds were well groomed with friendly gardiners always smiling and saying Ola to you. We were celebrating a 50th birthday and the staff at the a la carte that evening were so accommodating.A cake was served at the end of our meal with the staff singing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl which made it extra special. The [... read more] beach was beautiful as was the pool. The Grill at the pool lacked a bit in food but the staff made up for it with their kindness. I had a wonderful time here and great memories !!!!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Don’t do it ever!!!!!!!

Food was terrible and cooks using same utensils to handle raw and cooked meat, staff at bars where rude and ungrateful even if you where tipping.resort was clean and beach was beautiful.hour and thirty minute bus ride from airport to resort with no bathroom on bus. Garden staff and maids were very nice and friendly. Not toilet papers at times and towels were well worn Don’t go to this resort!!!!!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful Beach

We had a great stay at this resort. The a la Carte dinning was very good quality. The service staff are very friendly and work hard to make your stay delightful. The resort was very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this resort, the travel from airport is long, but the area is stunning. We had an amazing stay.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Beautiful Resort

What a beautiful resort. The best service we have ever received in any of our winter trips. They sure have it down. The food was the only downfall of the trip. All overcooked and cold. We didn't go hungry, but had to really pick to get something to eat. They do have an amazing snack bar though.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Alright

Rooms were clean, food was a disappointment same thing every night no fresh food ex seafood it was hot DogsHamburgers on buffet and stir fry and pasta that was pretty much it no fries no pizza not to much for children what so ever. No waitress after 11.30 at night and switch to plastic cups. During the day from 6 till 11.00 at it usually takes 40 minuets to get a drink unless u go up to bar then it usually took only 20 minutes. Would not recommend this resort .

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Fantastic 50th birthday vacation!

Had a fantastic time at the Starfish. Beautiful grounds and loved the huge pool and swim up bar. Bar staff and entertainment crew were outstanding and made every day enjoyable! Stayed in building 26 next to beach . Oceanview and pool view was amazing, room was clean but definitely need updated. Toiletries are never replenished so make sure you have your own and take a facecloth, they don't provide them. Most staff were very pleasant except the front desk staff!!! They made me feel like I was a [... read more] nuisance when I would have to interrupt them from personal conversations for help. Not what I expected from front line workers. Food was okay but buffet was always the same. I could always find something to eat LOL. Enjoyed The Grill next to pool! Brenda is the waitress to look for as she was amazing and had special dishes made up for my birthday. There is only one restaurant for the a la carte and don't be to upset if you don't get a reservation, you aren't missing anything. Overall my trip was amazing and had a fantastic time with family and friends.

The resort is extremely pretty! But the food is the worst I have ever had in Cuba! The buffet, everything is cold unless it was the “cooked in front of you” which is also long (not big but is soooooo slow) but the food was way better at the snack bar where you didn’t have to stand in long lines and actually have a drink while waiting for your hot fresh food (when they weren’t out of everything lol) oh. And they ran out of vodka, BEER, tons of mixes lol but they always had rum! Oh, and on [... read more]e more thing! My sunglasses (proscription ones) were stolen out of my room. Lock everything up! This was my first day and they were stolen. I was hoping they would realize they were prescription and return or turn into lost and found and nothing :( that really sucked! Lesson learned. But the resort is sooooooooo fun! Always a fun time at the loud swim up bar and the lobby bar. Had a blast!!! Seriously was a very fun trip!

My boyfriend and I travelled down south for the first time and settled on this hotel for the price, adult only, and location! We went with no expectations and had an excellent time. I was skeptical because of all of the bad reviews but many of them we did not find to be true. (Date of stay Feb 15-22 2019). Our room was cleaned/bed made/towels replaced/fridge stocked every single day. The towels did have some spots on them but they smelled clean? Lots of cold pastas, cucumber, pineapple, rice. I stayed away from meat but he didn't and didn't feel great one day. We stuck to the snack bar and the a la cartes for the last half of our stay. Chicken fingers and burgers are yummy! Breakfast from there is good too. Sometimes ran out of bread in places but for the most part there was no problem! Bring snacks as well as ketchup and peanut butter. We loved the drinks and entertainment at night. The beach is stunning. The pools are great too but we hung out at the relaxation pool usually because there was more shade, quieter, and overall nicer than the party pool! Never a problem getting a chair at that pool. Staff is very nice and friendly. The only complaint I have with the staff is when we checked in it took 4 HOURS! When we came back to check in 4 hours later the staff ignored us. One woman (Heidi) was helping us and said "one moment" and left and just didn't come back....once my boyfriend got a little snippy with another guy he helped us out promptly. Overall we had a great experience and would probably return if we came back to Cuba and got a good deal again.
