Valentin Perla Blanca: Best resort in Cuba!

This resort is awesome! We've been to Cuba 4 times now and this place is the best by far! The ground, lobby and rooms are top notch!! The main lobby is super fancy and had live music every night. Probably the most fun we've had in a lobby at a resort. We go to Mexico a lot and love the high end resorts there... There were many times we felt we were in Mexico because this resort has that feel to it. The food was awesome! Witch we've never experienced in Cuba.. The showers worked perfect (hot water and drained well) The beach at this resort is probably the nicest We've ever seen!!!! The pools were super clean and the water was warm! The 24 hour snack bar was really good as well. They had these awesome chicken fingers that pretty much tasted like (Jack assters) I really can't say anything bad about this place. The only thing they could invest in is more chairs at the beach area... saying that this resort has 4 beach areas so it a massive area to cover.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: 2nd Time.....No Regrets

This resort is all on its own with 2 huge beaches....you're not tripping over other people walking on the beach. Megano beach is quite something when low tide....A whole other beach appears and has to be walked to appreciate the beauty of it. Lobby entertainment was a bit boring....very little while we were there. The piano was not used once in the lobby bar. We didn't take part in any of the shows in the auditorium. You cannot match the genuine friendliness of the Cuban people to other countries! Rooms are clean and we had very good sleeps. I wouldn't hesitate to book another holiday there.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great resort, not so great food.

We thought the resort was well layed out. It wasn't very far to walk to everything. The beach was absolutely beautiful. As well as the pool area. Everyone bends over backwards to make sure you feel comfortable. The food however is very bland tasting. It's the same foods day after day. We both ended up sick before it was time to go home. If it wasn't for getting sick it would've been a grand trip but being sick just ruined it.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not one problem

The flights worked out perfectly so we had our sights set high and although it is a 2 hour bus ride to the resort from the airport it was not a problem. We got to the resort and check in was a breeze and the bellhop was super helpful, got to the room and it was beautiful and he went over and turned on the ac which blew cold the whole trip. Beach was amazing as you can expect and the swim up bar was awesome. Fresh options of food every meal at the buffet made us not even worry about a la carte. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Solid 3.5 Stars

The resort is large with modern-styled rooms. We were given a room central to the main amenity spaces however it was very loud with evening entertainment. The food was of good quality, in fact one of the best we've had in Cuba. The buffet area was frustrating with long line ups if you wanted omelettes in the morning or freshly grilled meats, pasta station and fried rice station for dinner. The buffet dining experience often felt stressful in a hurried up atmosphere. The pools were clean and they in fact posted the chlorine and ph levels, so we were happy to enjoy the swimming for a break in the afternoon. The beach and pool made this resort a good experience for us despite the other issues that we experienced. There wasn't any activities for kids and the entertainment staff didn't go out of their way to do activities that were listed - this was a short coming of this resort. If you're looking for a low key place to plant your butt in a lounger by the beach, than this may be a possible choice for you but we would not return ourselves.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Pretty nice resort!

Overall my boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were exactly like the pictures and the beach there is absolutely breath taking. Food is what you expect in Cuba resorts ( not very good ) but regardless a fun time had with plenty of mediocre drinks lol

Valentin Perla Blanca: Awful Experience

While the grounds were just ok, the continued lack of food and drink throughout the facility was just terrible. No bread today, no beef today, we have no French fries today, etc, were just examples of what we faced each day. The many bars were not stocked, none had vodka, they even ran out of beer. One bartender told us management wont buy vodka to try and save money. Terrible. And while a 24 hr bar is appreciated by some, all it does is provide extreme drunkenness into the early hours of the  [... read more]morning, causing much noise and bodies lying around that can’t handle it. Bartenders serve no matter how drunk you are. Escape to the beach to get away from it, but you got to try and eat sometime. Add to the fact there is no internet.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very nice resort

This is my second time at this resort and everything is still amazing. It has the most beautiful beach with white sand. The staff is very nice. The only downfall is the 1hr45 drive from the airport to the resort. The food was good with a good variety but the thing that really disappointed me was that they did not have the fresh orange juice which was incredible anymore because they told me that it was too expensive. I will certainly go back in the near future.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great Resort

A bit of a bus ride but this resort is great, staff was fantastic rooms were nice and you can’t beat that beach, but the food is always a hit or miss the snack bar was out of everything by my second day. But overall I’d go back !!!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort

Stayed at this resort over ten years ago. Great vacation overall! Decided to visit again. Still great resort friendly staff but was really disappointed with the food. First time I ever got sick and we travel quite a bit. Couldn’t even get a banana! Fruit loops was the only cereal there. One of the waitresses brought us bananas from her home. Friendly staff,everything else great but will not revisit!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: The staff, the beaches, the entertainment, fantastic!!

First impressions are everything. Very clean, professionally kept resort with lots of things to see and do. The grounds are tidy and constantly being maintained. Minor technical difficulties (room key card not working) were repaired quickly and efficiently. Maid service is prompt and courteous. For premium service, consider upgrading to Privilege service, but it is not necessary for great service. Some of the rooms have showers, some do not. This is not a deal breaker but somewhat of an inconven [... read more]ience if you don't like baths. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly with 80% of the tourists being Canadian. The restaurants were very clean, bright and the food was delicious. Be prepared to bring your own spices for food as the Cuban pallette is quite bland. If you want to be treated like royalty like I was, I would recommend Ocean Casa del Mar. Cheers!

Valentin Perla Blanca: A GOOD THREE STAR RESORT

We spent 10 days here in mid February. The best part of our stay was the weather and the friends that we made around the pool. The room was basic, but all we were expecting...clean and in good working order. We had a great location in regards to pool, lobby and bars. The check in and out were fast. Most staff were very helpful and friendly. However there were many drawbacks that will make this resort visit a one off. Some problems were irritants ,while others were more serious and concer [... read more]ned safety. Dealing with that first I would note that we arrived late ,around 10 P.M. We got into our room and found no map or information at all. There was an all night snack bar near the pool we found out from guests walking by. We headed in the direction pointed out and soon found the pool area. The problem was that the paths and especially the many steps were not lit up although there were many light fixtures. We discovered that some nights all the lights were on while other nights it was partially lit or dark. We came close to ending our vacation on a stair within the first hour of our stay. This was to me poor management. The other concerns all revolve around food. The resort has shortages. On many days they had NO bread ( 4days) NO bacon No eggs, and NO beer at he pool (1HR) This was not critical as we could always find enough to eat. The way the dining room food set up was managed was a major hassle. They had many cooking stations that had offerings such as spaghetti , beef, pork, shrimp, donuts etc. These were notoriously slow, but each would have long lines. The lines blocked the buffet trays for those who did not want to wait in line. You got use to having to wait a bars and dinner. Eating early or late was no solution. There was no orientation . We were basically dropped at the resort and left to figure it out on our own. Not recommended. Three star resort at best.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort!

Stayed at Dhawa CSM Feb 14 to 21. Loved the ocean view room and balcony. Really worth the small amount extra it cost. The room was modern, clean, and everything was in good working order. Nice size resort, everything was within a 10 minute walk. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the beach is beautiful, clean white sand, easy to walk in and out of the water. Staff on the beach to get drinks and find lounge chairs, and good snorkelling right off the beach. Would definitely go back again.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Just okay

The resort is beautiful and so is the beach. The service was awful. Check in and check out were both frustrating. The food was good if you could get to it. Not enough stations to feed a packed resort. I will not visit this resort again.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Starfish 2019 review

First time in Cuba...website was misleading...there are two resorts actually(Starfish Tropical and Starfish Colonial maybe?) All website and travel agent info specified the Colonial part of the resort but upon arrival we were put in the Tropical part.Therefore anything I read ahead of time was out the window because we weren't staying in the part we were supposed to...it wasn't even open. Also,website states I believe four or five a-la-carte restaurants but there is only one. That being said I [... read more] still thought the resort was overall 8/10. Food was hit and miss but food that was good was very good...you wouldn't go hungry. Some workers had tough time understanding us but most were good...and friendly. Room had no issues other than getting locked out of room for awhile but bathrooms around resort that were out of order seem to me like they would be an easy fix to repair but nobody ever even looked at them. We had a couple exceptional waitresses in the buffet and the pool and beach bartenders were fabulous. The pool itself and the beach was incredible. As I said....room for improvement with just some attention but overall 8/10 and very much enjoyed the vacation.

Rooms were clean. Couldn't exchange beach towels all week. garbage in pool and on beach. Food was good and coffee bar was excellent. Staff were not impressed with only a peso for tip. Overall it was our first all inclusive. Wasn't horrible but would try another resort next time.

We were really disappointment with this resort. It's a fairly new resort but maintenance not kept up. Public washrooms were disgusting. Ladies washroom at the pool had three stalls with only one working and there was a constant smell of sewage. We were provided with beach towels in our rooms when we arrived but had to complain towards the end of our stay to get them replaced. There was a towel stand at the pool but no one was ever there. The buffet offered the same food for lunch and dinne [... read more]r every day during our stay. There were always long line ups for food at the buffet. If you didn't pay to be "Privileged" your drink selection was very poor. If you wanted "Canadian rye" you were out of luck. The Canadian Mist (which is the lowest grade of rye) was on the "privileged" shelf. All they had was scotch and called it Canadian whisky. Don't think "privileged" belongs at an all inclusive. This resort is not rated properly in travel books or website.

Very nice, very clean. A bit of a distance to beach but once there absolutely stunning. Food was mediocre but always something suitable. Workers very nice. Cleaning staff did good job but were very bold in asking for things. Gardeners do incredible work. Under appreciated.

Everything was great I have no complaints, food was great a little repetitive but still fantastic. Pools were gorgeous, beach was amazing minus the sand flees but that’s only because we forgot bug spray!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Definitely NOT a good place for a quiet relaxing holiday

Despite being in a lovely location, this is not a good place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. There is NO ESCAPE from the constant blaring of loud music. At night, the main open-air Bar below the lobby plays loud (thumping) music until 2:00 a.m, which can be heard clearly inside the guest rooms. When the bar closes, the boisterous bar patrons regularly descend on the 24 hour Snack Bar, where they turn up the music carry on partying until 3:30 a.m. And there is no escape during the day. The bars on [... read more] the beach also play non-stop music from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., loudly enough to be heard all along the beach, often drowning out the sound of the waves of the ocean. And in the afternoons, the pool Bars open, and they play loud music all afternoon, punctuated by the exhortations of the the pool-side activity animators using microphones and loud-speakers. Being inside your room does not insulate you from the barrage. AFTER 4 NIGHTS OF NO SLEEP, we were prepared to cancel out trip. The hotel did eventually move us, and at least we were able to sleep through the night, and salvage some of our holiday. It is clear, however, that this hotel prefers to cater to guests who like to drink and party all the time. Those looking for a quiet restful time, should beware.
