Grand Palladium Vallarta: Blue skies and good food!

Great food at buffet. Good entertainment. Fantastic grounds and beach. Lots and lots of stairs. Lots of hills. Not enough beach lounge chairs. Average food at restaurants. Lovely spa. Not cheap. Greenery on grounds - beautiful.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Couples Vacation to the Bahia

We loved the Bahia Akumal, this property really has put the effort into accommodating everyones needs, vacation type and budget. This property has 4 resorts in one, if you stay at Akumal and Sian Ka'an you have access to all 4 resorts which are accessible by tram. And you have 7 a la carte dinners at any of the restaurants on the property. By using the bahia app you can book your a la carte up to 10 days before your departure. We really enjoyed that aspect of our trip was already taken care of.  [... read more] Akumal makes efforts to ensure there are adults only spaces throughout the resort; on the beach as well as an infinity pool with its own buffet, which was also adults only, offering breakfast and lunch. We really enjoyed this feature as we could go for breakfast and stay till lunch and then decide where we wanted to go for the rest of the afternoon. Sian Ka'an was the other adults only; however the age demographic was mostly 50-60's and this resort was a good distance from the beach and more of a jungle vibe; very quite and secluded. However we prefer to be near the beach where we can hear the ocean. If you are a Golfer this side of the resort has a PGA course. Some of the differences between Akumal and Tulum (the more popularly booked option and the biggest section of the complex) Tulum is more updated and is quite large, it also has the biggest beach frontage however the largest section of the beach (at least during the time of year we were there: February) didnt have enough space between the short and an incline to put loungers so the loungers for this section were behind a short fence and some greenery/vegetation. This part of the beach is also the closest to Tulum's largest pool. So a bit of a walk down the beach to get to the loungers that are directly on the beach where you can see the surf. The beaches at Akumal give you more options in terms of terrain; the adults only section of the beach has quite a lot of ocean life and a great spot to snorkel, they ensure all akumal beaches have surf breaks and therefore much calmer water to enter and exit from and makes snorkeling possible however, one of these beach options was fairly rocky so consider wearing water shoes. Tulums bigger beach doesn't have a break and during our stay the waves were too strong to make the swim enjoyable, so it was really nice to have a calmer option at akumal. Tulum has more snack bars for between the lunch and dinner service buffets then Akumal has, and we found that they kept those snack bars more stocked and therefore more options to choose from then akumal. We found the differences between the luxury option at Akumal and Tulum and Coba to be slight but worth it. They have poolside and beach drink service. They have service at every bar vs self serve at some of tulums bars. The Buffets were comparable however, the higher end option at Tulum might be something like Piaya and at Akumal a chef sliced roast or meat of some kind. Also things like Avocado/guacamole was at all of the Akumal buffets but not at Tulum when we came for a meal. So small subtle differences but you could see them throughout your stay. Some of the negative parts of our stay would be in the buffets; the food is so poorly labeled for anyone with dietary requirements aka allergy its very unclear if you are getting what is labeled at any point. For example the sushi was never labeled properly and when asked for clarification they were unable to tell us which item was which. Or when looking at the options before you, there is clearly a dish of plantains however that tag is no where on the listing for that section. There is no allergen warnings labeled either. And even in section where there was several things containing shellfish the labels were not accurate. This is likely a common occurrence down south where english is a second language however, its worth noting if you have concerns in this area. We also had a few small items go missing from our room, so that was disappointing but not large enough items to worth mentioning to staff. The location from Cancun is a bit of a trip, it was only supposed to take 1.5 hours but due to traffic and road maintenance it took 3 hours to get there. Upon speaking to other guests that arrived through Tulum airport they said it took no time at all to make it through the airport and they were at the resort in under and hour. Overall we had a great trip, we would return to this location, and we would recommend it to friends.

Dreams Natura Resort and Spa: Quaint

Cute resort for families. If you don’t love walking, this is perfect. Awesome pools, food and drinks are great. Beach was nice despite the run off. We still managed to swim a bit. Things I didn’t love; lack of chairs in lobby and pools, lack of night time entertainment past 10pm. Hotel being four years old, is looking a little rough. I would rate this a 4*, not a 5*.

Canto Del Sol: Not a fan

I would rate this resort a three star if it were in Cuba. The resort is very dated, as an example, one socket in the room for charging any devices. The buffet has limited selection. Despite the line ups for the buffet it seemed everything had been out for a considerable period. I was only able to book two a la cartes, surf and turf was good but Mexican was a disappointment. On weekends the resort was very crowded so a good time to explore town. Staff were all great and always helpful.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Lovely Resort with Great Service

Very well maintained family resort. Lots of options for all meals and great service. Lots of pools and loungers. Check out the Spa for many free activities. Good fitness facilities and classes. Noisy

Canto Del Sol: Disappointing resort

Lovely grounds, pool is good. Staff were very friendly and attentive to the guests. Rooms and food left much to be desired. Buffet had minimal options typically one starch, three or four veg one meat one fish. Food often overcooked. A La carte(s) were hard to reserve therefore dinning time not very convenient. Surf and turf a La carte was good. Furnishing in rooms very dated and in much need of renewal. Bed was reasonably comfortable.

Riu Latino: Riu Latino Mexico the perfect ADULT Resort

The Riu property is just ideal. It is not too big, easy to find your way around, the grounds an immaculate (Bravo grounds keepers, that were always working - in the heat!). The Buffet and restaurants were superb. The beach was perfect - a great walking beach that went on for miles. Lots of swimming pools for those who prefer. Entertainment was good. The main thing, however, was how pleasant the staff was. They were always smiling and willing to help. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort

Found the pictures of the pool very misleading! Instead of one large long pool as we had expected, it was broken up into several separate pools!! The buffet was passable but not great for every meal. The ala carte restaurants were excellent and dispite comments to the contrary we had NO PROBLEM making reservations for them at the customer service desk once we arrived.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Best beach ever

Yes best beach ever. Lots of chairs and all of them have covers and/or umbrellas. Food was great but making dinner reservations was chaos and terribly unorganized. Concierges were totally useless but wait staff and bartenders were excellent. Rooms were large and well maintained.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: very nice resort

Hotel was great the staff was spot on.. Didn't know about the condo owners there until we got there.. there were rules as to not upset the owners. Security by the pools was a bit un-nerving,, looking restless ,, also bored so bothering guests for anything,, not allowed to play your own music ,, must keep low voices and shows are quite low keyed,, Ala cartes were in my taste very disappointing,, we tried the Italian one night and no pizza that one time as I heard it was to best part there an [... read more]d fettuccini noodles were very hard,, and we tried the Grill on Valentines day thinking that we could buy a steak on the side separately from a different menu as we read this before going,, but no such thing.. food was so so ,, buffet was good every day no complaints there.. Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Wonderful resort

This resort was wonderful. We purchased the altitude upgrade and would purchase again. The resort was beautiful, great food, great staff and great location. The drinks were not watered down. We will go again.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: You don’t even have to leave

This hotel had everything you can ask for. Mayan ruins, water slides, great entertainment, food was delicious and if they ran out, it was replenished immediately. All the staff was there to help and with a smile. Please don’t listen to any negative feedback, I don’t know what they were expecting other than a rolled out red carpet. The only issue I had was the cleaning staff, they could have kicked it up a notch.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Not all it’s cracked up to be

We did enjoy our stay but it was not the same as it was 2 yrs ago The food in the buffet was recycled every single day from dinner to breakfast from breakfast to lunch and lunch to dinner Same crap every day . Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing Resort

Absolutely amazing resort . The service was amazing. The la carts were easy to booked . Some of areas were rocky recommend water shoes . The chairs on beach and pool side are hard to find. Only complaint I have.

Grand Oasis Cancun: The worst hotel ever!

Hotel is very old and ugly. Rooms are small and not sound proof. Beach is not swimmable, big waves and red flag all 10 days. Guests are very loud day and night so it was impossible to sleep. Food at the basic restaurants was not edible so we had to pay 1000CAD for two of us for the upgrade and that was the only good thing about this hotel. Nobody cleans the lounge beds on the beach or around the pool. I would rate this hotel as 3* max.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Very relaxing holiday!

My longtime friend and I really enjoyed our 9 night stay at Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo in February 2025. Our garden view room was generally comfortable, though the air conditioning did not seem to cool the room sufficiently during the nights. The buildings, grounds and pools were lovely and well maintained. There was a wide variety of architectural styles, making exploring the resort a real design pleasure. The French and fine dining restaurants were excellent; however our steak house experience was disappointing. Sorry to say that we were not able to enjoy swimming in the ocean due to rough seas and winds.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Las Palmas by the sea

This is an older hotel but kept in great shape with constant cleaning and maintenance. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are more than adequate. The food at the buffet is quite varied, creative and appealing. Serving hours are generous...dinner served until 10 pm! The staff are fabulous. Friendly and interactive. Note that this hotel is very popular with the local population...great immersive experience! The entertainment is definitely geared to them, but enjoyable all the same. Th [... read more]e front desk is extremely accommodating and the chef was great - my husband went fishing twice and both nights, the chef cooked the fish up for us. I didn't have any negative interactions with the staff at all. Most have at least a workable level of english for those who have no spanish...but try anyway! Family pool and adults only pool, towel service, chairs on the beach and around the pool, couple of a la carts, parrots and peacock in the lobby. Did I say clean? Walking distance to local shopping and restaurants. Taxis just up the road and concierge or security will call you a cab.

Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: So So Stay at Secrets

This hotel was not as expected from a service or grounds expectation. But the Mexican sun was still enjoyable. The good: - excellent service and higher end drinks at Preferred Club Lounge - pool chairs are very comfortable & towels were great - food at some of the restaurants was excellent (Italian, French, dinner at Rosewater). The Not As Expected: - beach was very short, chair cushions had seen better days, limited shade, lots of sea weed - getting a chair around the pool was nex [... read more]t to impossible unless you wanted to get up at 6am (do not believe otherwise) -service from the start was very uneven, good sometimes, non existent the next (and yes we tipped!) - rooms were showing some wear & daily cleaning was again very uneven (one day they took the tip and walked back out, leaving dirty towels and dishes) - cannot make reservations for dinner, so you could wait up to 1.5 hrs for a table despite being a preferred guest - service in restaurants was again uneven - sometimes you got water, sometimes not, same with timely service and even cutlery - all hit or miss - no main longe area where guests can gather to chat at night on either Secrets or Breathless side It wasn’t a terrible experience, we always found something to eat, and some staff were excellent but overall not the Secrets experience I have had several times in the past.

Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlan : Dreams Mazatlán

Great Beach, cooler Ocean but safe, Golf course was in good shape and GC service was excellent. Our Stay at the resort was excellent. No concerns with food selection and service of all staff was very good. ??
