Occidental Arenas Blancas: Very bad experience

The hotel was very dirty. The room very dirty food not good at all . The restaurant was not clean and full of insects. The hotel was 90%with Cuban people and they drinked a lot and vomiting inside the elevator. Please don't send Canadians anymore there.i had to switch hotel.

Barcelo Solymar: good experiemce

myself and my girlfriend stay in barcelo solymar for a week in mid july. overall experience was great!! here are few concerns i had -almost all front desk staffs were very unfriendly in lack of terms, almost came across as rude. this is from about 10 times i had experience with them. so i avoided all i could do to avoid them. -bed is rock soild, we both could feel each springs in the mattress -pool water is somewhat dirty other than that everything else was great!!! -cleaning staffs, k [... read more]itchen staffs, bartenders are all very very friendly and approachable -food was very delicious!!! lots of flavor and spice -location is great, very close to downtown, its about 10 min walk -close to the beach and its beautiful/clean water and sand -room was clean and tidy

Occidental Caribe: Its really amazing resort

The resort was beautiful especially the the pools and the most beautiful was beach and Also the lobby was perfect but the room that given to us was not ocean view that we booked and service at the lobby bar was very slow and the pool bar was very very slow one day took the bar tender at the pool about 20 minutes to serve me a drink and also the intertement at the pool side was very bad most guests they did not participate in your hotel programs again the resort was beautiful

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great family trip - Barcelo Maya Colonial

Overall, this was a great experience for our family. It was our first trip to Mexico and loved it. Fantastic pools, good food and plenty to do! Highly recommended! Hotel facilities were really impressive - although it was a big resort, it didn't feel like it. There was lots to keep our kids occupied. A la carte restaurants were fantastic. I do recommend these over the buffet, which was good but a little repetitive.

Palma Real: Disappointed!

Every year we always go to Palma Real and this time we were there from July 6 to the 13. What a disappointment!!! We arrived there at 10:30am and our room was not ready until 5pm. We were on the 5th floor and the elevator was broken. There was no running water for 3 days out of 7 we were there. The food was alright, used to be much better!!! Since the new management took over, a lot has changed and not for good. Definately not worth my money.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Amazing resort!

The resort was absolutely beautiful, the gym, the spa, the mall, the grounds,"I can go on", was immaculate and the food was great. The only downside I saw was the beach, it wasn't the greatest but with that said, it wasn't the fault of the resort. I will definitely travel to the Barcelo Maya again in the future. We had a great time.

I've been to Cuba many times - never to Varadero though. No all inclusive is "perfect" - each has its pluses and minuses. Still a good deal through Sunwing - compared to other holiday destinations. Re this hotel - close to town - which we liked - our upgraded ocean view room was nice - big, comfortable bed, great pillows, nice balcony with view etc. One bank of elevators out of commission to get to our floor however, meaning we had a longer wait each time. Common areas - bit run down. Pool was  [... read more]out of commission for part of the week! Beach was fine. However - no place to get a drink on or immediately adjacent to the beach. Food at the hotel was horrible for the most part (there were a few exceptions here and there). Other resorts have had BBQ areas and beach front restaurants that are open all day with fairly decent food - not this place. there was a beach front restaurant - with an absolutely disgusting mystery meat "buffet" served for a couple of hours each day. There was also an "after-hours" eatery - with boiled hotdogs and hamburgers - that made us sick one evening. Other restaurants could only be booked between 2 and 4 pm daily - a weird time! Hotel sponsored entertainment - given the size of the complex - wasn't very good - seen much better at lesser star hotels! No on-site dance club. All in all we'd rate the hotel as average - except for the room. We wouldn't return to this particular hotel. No reflection on the travel agent - he was very pleasant and helpful to deal with and we'd book through him again.

Palma Real: Loved it

This is my second time at this resort . First being in feb, there have been a lot of changes since the new managers took over and it has definitely improved! A lot of fun to be had there. The entertainment is great the food well is mediocre

Barcelo Solymar: Needs improvement

The beach was beautiful but the resort just need a little more care. Not too clean, service is slow but ok. Food was edible but could be better. I’ve been to this resort 4 years ago and it had more to offer. Complete snack bar and menu was full. Here they had a full Menu with only hamburgers to choose.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful Resort 🏝

The place is very clean, they are constantly cleaning and painting. Beach is beautiful and the food is amazing, a big variety. A lot to do, you won’t be disappointed. The beach has reefs, rocks for nice pics or just nice white sand. If you do a la cartes, do Mexican Lindo and Kyoto. Food is amazing and at Kyoto you get a nice show too. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Would recommend to anyone

This was a very clean and fun place. Nice people and staff. Only issue we had was with my girlfriends vegan preferences which took a while to solve at each restaurant but they always had a resolution. There is enough stuff to do here to be busy for even two weeks and we went for one. I want to come here again and habe beem telling all my friends to book here if they plan to go away. Seaweed can be annoying but there was always a somewhat clear ocean area to swim.

Hello Barcelo Maya Colonial, I found the resort was great. Good Food ,rooms, kids waterpark,great service for the money.Thoroughly enjoyed it. Following things needs to be considered by Management. Internet should be for all ,all the time for non premium guests as well. Internet for Non premium guests It wood be nice to introduce huts for shades on the beach. This is the first time I have heard about this. We have been to 15 to 20 resorts never had an issue. We got bookings for which we did not desire. It needs to be reviewed by Management of the resorts. If this is improved it would be a wonderful resort and vacation. Beach had a lot of weeds but they cleaned everyday. That was because of the storm the previous week. All in all a great resort. Good FUN. Please provide internet at all times to ALL GUESTS as part of the package deal

Occidental Punta Cana: The price is right

The Occidental Punta Cana is a warm and inviting resort. The staff is friendly and a number of the staff are able to speak English. The hotels cleaning staff is responsive to your requests and if you tip them they become your best friend for life, or however long your trip is :) The food is above average, they offer a number of restaurants, Seafood, Chinese, Mexican and of course the Steak house and the beach is great. The hotel is beautiful and had a great stay. The food, the rooms, the pools and the water park for kids all outstanding all the amenities were great. The alacarte dinners and the main buffet were excellent. The employees were so friendly and super customer service. The check in manager Esteban Marcial was so helpful and provided excellent customer service. The beach had lots and lots of seaweeds. We could only go in the ocean 1 day only. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Clean, good vibe and white sandy beaches.. The best trip I’ve been on.

Starlin is the bomb, everyday he gave us way above average service along with hilarious conversation.. lol.. Thanks man! The resort is huge, you’ll get that cardio in if you want it although there is a small train that rips back and forth throughout the day like every 10-15 mins. Two resorts in one, the beach and palace sides. The beach is like an adult mature kinda vibe, until people get lit.. With a 25+ feel. The palace is full of the younger side plus parents.. and the club is also on  [... read more]this side so you have about a 20-30 min walk there and back from the beach side. The excursions were ok and kind of expensive. the rooms are well taken care of with clean white colour and daily serivice, we had no issues with anything and they provide a lot of water daily. Barcelo Solymar: Amazing time in Veradero!

The hotel service was great. Once I arrived check in was seamless. The people were super courtious and very genuine. I booked a bungalow which had great space and a huge king size bed and a sweet balcony. The room was super clean and always prepared. I felt super safe on and off the resort. The food was not superb but not horrible. For what it's worth everything on the resort was great! I will say that the beaches do not provide towels, but travelers are provided 2 beach towels within your room. [... read more] Aside from that there was some visible construction going on outside of the resort. But, this was not in my bungalow view. Grear hosts and water sports as well. Both flights arrival and departure were on time and attendants were great. Cuba is amazing! Awsome deal and great price for the value of this trip. I will be going to Cuba again. Thanks to Sunwing and Tripcentral.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Resort excellent

The resort is beautiful. The hotel staff are very nice. Food was great. The resort is very clean. Absolutely no complaints. But, the Air Transat representative at the hotel, Charleston Perez, was extremely rude and not helpful. On speaking with other guests on our flight, they had the same complaint about him.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastic Getaway

From the moment we arrived, our vacation was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I have a lactose allergy and the a la carte staff were excellent in recommending safe foods for me every evening. We celebrated our 6th anniversary during our stay and appreciated the hotel acknowledging our special day! Housekeeping kept our room spotless and the bartenders and servers made sure our glasses were never empty for long. Our favorites were paella at La Fuente (Spanish), lobster at Marenostrum (seafood) and the lovely atmosphere at Brasserie (French). The evening entertainment was also very good - our favorite was the Circus show. We were repeat guests and will definitely be back again. Thanks to O'Neil for taking care of our booking and making arrangements for us to have an overnight accommodation in Toronto when our connecting flight was cancelled.

Barcelo Solymar: An okay resort

Stayed at barcelo from June 8-15 2018 with 1 friend. I stayed at this resort previously in 2012 and it has gone a bit downhill since. The good: rooms are clean, staff is amazing and super friendly, beach is beautiful as Varadero beaches are and always super clean with no weeds, proximity to the town is unbeatable. Great nightlife within a 5-10 min walk or 10 min cab ride. The bad: worst bed I have ever slept on, I literally have bruises on my thighs from the springs digging into my leg every  [... read more]night. Booked a room with 2 beds but were given a single king bed which was fine for us in the end but a little annoying nonetheless. Food is bad to the say the least other than breakfast which had good omelettes and bread selection. The arenas blancas buffet was slightly better than barcelo however neither was great. No 24 hour liquor service, only beer is available after 11:30 pm which is annoying since all inclusive should mean 24 hours. However that did mean that the lobby was fairly empty and quiet at night which is nicer for people looking for a quiet evening. Overall I would probably stay again as I'm not too picky with food and enjoyed the beach and nightlife available and staff is great.
