The hotel was great, it is known as a party hotel but there were plenty of quiet areas/pools. The beach was beautiful but the ocean is quite rough there so if you prefer calmer seas, I would recommend staying on the Caribbean side. The buffets were good, the a la carte we tried, The Steakhouse, was not that great, a few of the restaurants are closed so this was the only one we ate at. The room was spacious and clean. Requests for more blankets, towels, water, etc. were handled quickly.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Nice resort !!
Grounds were well kept.
Pools clean and great entertainment staff.
Food at Buffet was always good.
Rooms very nice and spacious.
Very big resort, so a fair bit of walking especially to get to ocean.
Only issue I know of was a few people got sick out both ends.
No top shelf liquor unless you pay way more

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: It was Ok !!
If you are looking for 4.5 to 5 star facility, this is NOT the right resort although their website says its 4.5 star plus.
The service was ok.
Rooms are smaller than what it shows in picture. we had water drainage problems in washroom.
The staff at front desk may listen to your complaint if they are available which in most of the cases , NOT as they always ask you to wait for Supervisor.
Beach was clean so for us the most likable place was beach. Swimming pool is small too and there is[... read more] only one swimming pool so you will see all the crowd there. Their website says non-motor water activities are available for resort guest but there was nothing available. there is no playground for kids although it mentioned on their website.
Kids Club was nice.
Buffet food was nice.
Entertainment activities in daytime and every night was nice too.
For Dinner Restaurant - not much options available as most of items on their restaurants menu was available in buffet.
One bad experience for us was on their Beach side restaurant - One day when we went for lunch around 3 PM (That restaurant opens till 5PM), there was no Pizza available. One of our friend asked cook if he can make as there was stuff available. he said he will make it. after 15 mins we check no pizza was in oven nor at serving tray. I asked again can you make pizza , the other guy said ok. again 15 mins went by no one was making Pizza. Then I had to inform server - she went and requested the cook to make Pizza and I can see there was some arguments between them. You are in service industry - If you have raw material available and if your restaurant hours are still Open - it is your duty to serve your customer. Since we had kids with us - they wanted to eat Pizza otherwise we would have been ok with other food options.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Family Friendly Resort with lots to do
A family friendly resort that was perfect for my crew of 5. We stayed in a 2BR Family suite that was large enough to accommodate my 3 teenagers without feeling like we were on top of each other. King bed and 2 sofa beds were comfortable and 2 large bathrooms was gave each family member there own space to get ready. Beautiful clean pools that provided a great place to relax or go to the beach pool where the atmosphere was energetic. The beach is beautiful, albeit busy and narrow, we always fou[... read more]nd a place to chill out.
The a la carte restaurants were delicious (especially the Garden Grill) with the buffets having a good variety of items.
The grounds are large but very manageable to walk. The trolley system is quite efficient and comes around frequently.
A wonderful and economical vacation for a family looking to relax and enjoy the sun and friendly people.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Understaffed during peak period
Stayed over Christmas in a sunclub swimup family... Upgraded to a swimup adult. Much better room, and a bit more private swim out. Sunclub comes with some special access, but no wristbands or monitoring of any kind, so a regular room would be fine. Food at buffets were abysmal. 90% of food would be cold. Even when a fresh tray would be inserted... Cold. A la cartes were good. Chopsticks and Bluewater Grill tried. You need to book on an app for those..48 hours out to get decent time. Beach [... read more]was beautiful white sand and ocean gently sloped. No rocks/pebbles at all on ocean floor, gentle tide too. Sunclub lounge had great servers, lobby bar not so much, pizza shop awful, coffee bar good, but long lines always present. The "sports" bar was laughable. Booked as have had good experience w Sunscape, however this property is new to them, a former Be Live property I believe. Also mosquitoes were present by pools with shrubbery, so bring you own Off. $35 USD at onsite shop. Was happy for sun and beach, but was glad to head home.

Playabachata Hotel: Avoid Playabachata Puerto Plata Hotel!
Arrived late night. Receptionist was the slowest worker in the worlds. Imagine arriving late night with super tired kids and a receptionist takes 30mins per person(!) to check in. When my turn came in, receptionist said that we only have one room and not 2. After arguing for 15 mins and showing all the confirmation letters he seems to find second room. He gave us rooms in separate towers, keeping us away from our kids. We had no option but to take it. The rooms were terrible, ceiling was leaking[... read more] into the bed, electricity went off several times during the night, meaning no AC, no hot water in the room, no WiFi in the rooms, rooms were smelling so bad, overall room condition was too old and uncomfortable. Most terrifying thing was that we there was no way to communicate with our kids in case of emergency as they stayed in different building, no telephones, no internet, no electricity. All concerns were reported to hotel reception as well as Sunwing rep. IF YOU ARE READING THIS, and you think of visiting this place, keep in mind all the issues I have reported above and remember that NO ONE WILL HELP YOU TO RESOLVE YOUR ISSUES, hotel will say that they are fully booked, Sunwing will say sorry and that’s it. This hotel nowhere near 4.5 stars as advertised, it’s maximum 2 stars (which uses mechanical keys for room and safe boxes ). I had to pay more and upgrade to their other hotel which is next to it, called Senator Hotel and Resorts. I would highly recommend booking there and pay some extra, instead of ruining your vacation and staying at Playabachata!
As for me, we would most definitely not be booking with Sunwing and Tripcentral in the future and won’t be recommending it to friends and family either.

Riu Bambu: So so
Our 6th time in Dominican Republic, and probably the worst resort we've been to. Lots of things not working, in rooms, showers by the pool and the beach, coffee machines and nobody bothers to fix anything. The swim up bar and pool bar disgusting, dirt and mold everywhere. Food variety it's the worst for the money you pay to stay at this resort. We've been to lower star resorts with much better variety, especially fruits.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Incredible adult only resort
This resort is a must go to. The various spaces (pools, lounge area, lobby, shops restaurants, Spa etc.) are very clean so are the rooms. The food is good. The schedule of activities is posted and there is something for everyone. The entertainment is above average and very well organized. Easy access to the beach. The staff is professional and very pleasant. Without hesitation, a must do.

Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only: Excellent
West Jet and the hotel put extra efforts to accommodate disability needs. The room was perfect and second bed was brought in and placed immediately.
The Level section is perfect with all necessities and the beach very close. The own restaurant, bar and barbecue on the beach make food easily accessible and enjoyable.
The two concierges Maxuell and Jeorge respond to any need immediately, are highly appreciated and there are available from 7am to 11pm.
The ocean mostly with small waves. The lev[... read more]el section has it's own part of the beach with plenty of good beds and shade.
Evening entertainment is in the main lobby of the hotel quite far the Level. The golf carts run between the sections. The high floor of the cart is not suitable for an old or disabled. Some drivers have step stool to help, but most don't have it even after complaints.
The Level section is amazing.

TRS Turquesa: Great resort.
Arrived at the hotel after a long travel day and reception was average. Checked in, room not ready so directed us to where we could have some lunch which was at Helios. Yes they wanted us to talk to the people in green, but we said not interested, thank you and went to lunch. Yes they try to approach you as you walk through the lobby throughout our stay, but we just said no thank you.
Helios lunch was ok, not much left as it was at the end of the open time.
Got into our room just after lu[... read more]nch. Met our butler MIguel (and informed us there would be Cesar, Chris and Oscar that would also be around). Miguel booked our first two ala cartes then Cesar booked the rest. We were in building 52, top floor with a view of the pool and ocean from afar. The room was a good size, and very clean. Robe and slippers and well stocked fridge, as well as large bottle of water every day. Room was cleaned every day (turned down night time service as we did not need it even though it was available.)
We had breakfast and lunch at Helios and Capricho. Great variety and selection of food.
Overall, the restaurants provided a nice atmosphere and variety of menu options. We at at Helios (best steak and chicken) as well as dinner at Tentazione (italian - good), Kusko (definitley different food), La Adelita (mexican - really good). Cesar had booked our other ala cartes but unfortunately my husband caught a bit of a bug and we were unable to go so we hit Las Torres (the buffet restaurant - opened at 6:30) The selection of food was excellent.
My husband and I had no complaints about the food at all.
Bars were good however if you ask for your premium liquor they will give it to you, otherwise you get lower level liquour. When you got the good liquor, drinks were amazing. Faierny (sorry for spelling) at main bar was super nice and made our drinks to perfection.
Spent time at the big pool as well as the smaller pool by the swim up rooms.
All staff were friendly and accomodated when we needed something.
Never had any issue with beach towels.
We would put our towels on our chair by 7, go for our walk, have breakfast then sit by pool.
Never spent time on beach, but it was crowded with lots of chairs.
Did alot of walking on the beach. Alot of little shops and were hounded every day but we just ignored them and they left us alone.
Played pickle ball a couple of mornings. Nice courts, just very hot.
TRS is attached to the other Palladium hotels, which give you alot of options of restaurants, bars etc.
We never had any issues getting a shuttle over or back. We were able to walk to most locations.
The shops were nice over at the grand palladium.
On our second last day, as I was not feeling well, Oscar was able to secure a cab for our ride to the airport the next day (as I did not want to wait for the Air Canada shuttle). He was super nice and made sure he was there in the lobby waiting to load us. It was greatly appreciated.
The few issues we had related to water. Low water pressure one day for a few hours, no water for a couple of minutes the next day, and no toilet water for a few hours on another day (considering not feeling well, a bit of a problem). Went to front desk about toilet issue and all they said they've been having issues. No apologies, no we are working on it so that was disappointing.
Our last night, had a huge rainstorm and found a leak in our room right next to our bed, mentioned to them the next morning on check out, again no apology.
Last problem was our outside hall faced a strip of stores, and on the Sunday, music blared until 2 in the morning.
Overall, considering the few issues we had, we would have no problem in returning to the resort

Coral Costa Caribe: 2nd time visiting! Great resort
We love this resort!~ We were there 8 years ago and decided to go again due to its small size and the peacefulness you feel as you enter. The excellent and friendly staff will work hard to provide you with all you need. Service is exceptional, as is the cleanliness of the entire resort.
This is not a luxury resort, however, there is always lots of great food for every palette, and management and staff worked hard to make Christmas Eve wonderful! Vista Sol Punta Cana: Nice resort poor service
The resort is beautiful. Lots of pool chairs. Good food. Staff seem very disengaged and not interested in providing goos service. Tip or no tip makes no difference in how you are treated. Many staff do not speak or understand English but that should not be expected for every staff
