Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Honest Review

This is a solid 3.5/4 star resort in it's current condition. The grounds are lovely, the staff are friendly and hard working, and the food is above average. Great pools, the WIFI is strong throughout the resort (even the beach), and everything is very clean. The only real negative for us was the condition of the rooms ... they are dated and worn and really need to be refurbished! A couple of suggestions. The buffet was closed and we struggled to find food. The resort is massive and can be disorienting so it would be best if you can arrive in daylight. Also, while not on the beach, the beach is walkable. We stayed in villa 2 (recommend Villas 1-7) and it was a 7 minute walk to the beach and a 7 minute walk to the main complex/buffet. We stayed in PDC and Tulum earlier this year and our beach experience was ruined by the sargassum (seaweed). Thankfully, the beach here was seaweed free! If the gym is important to you, look elsewhere as the gym at Grand Coba was small and not well equipped. Finally, friends we met had a room on the 1st floor of their Villa and found noise from the room above to be a problem. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we heard nothing (noting there are no elevators).

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: The best time!!

We really enjoyed our week at this resort! The pool by the beach was our favourite, the food was great, the entertainment was good too, loved the drinks at the swing bar by the beach. We travelled with teens and recommend this resort. We stayed in building 5 and had adjoining rooms. The beach wasn’t the most amazing but it was swimable and clean. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great vacation, but the rain

Resort was great, amazing food, no need to reserve for most a la carte, staff very friendly, room very clean and new, beach area great with beach volleyball, lots of chairs free to take, bars around the facility were ok. their times were kinda not too good but we managed. the ocean water was not as clear as we wished . It rained insanely for 2 full days and that sucked! They didn't prepare our sofa bed for my son which we have asked in the booking so we had to call reception and request and wait for about 20 min before putting him to sleep that night. Didn't like they make you go to your room at arrival and wait for your bag. Bags took about 45 min to arrive in the room . Time of my vacation I could be enjoying the resort. The gym was the best of all resorts we've been!

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Happy with our stay

This was a nice place to stay, facilities were beautiful, food was okay, and the staff were friendly. Best meals were the lunch walk ups (tacos,burgers, hotdogs, nachos) because the food was cooked right infront of you, and got it fresh off the grill. Breakfast at the beach BBQ was also great. Food was very satisfying. I wasn't as impressed with all of the dining meals however, although that doesn't mean the food was bad. I would go back here. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Awesome Resort

Oceans is a fantastic resort. The rooms are well appointed, the grounds are immaculate, but it’s the people that make it so great. Samantha at Mikes Coffee is so sweet. Maria also at Mikes, Carlos at the burger stand and Buffet as well as Benny the cart driver. Always friendly and smiling. The food at the buffet and at Route 66 we found to be the best. The food at the a la carts is fine but the variety at the Buffett is fantastic. If I had to name an issue it would be the loud music [... read more] at all 3 main pools Eden, El Beso and even the Daisy. Music started in the late morning and went in all day. A little quiet time would be nice. We were at this resort in 2018 and now in 2023. Sadly half of the beach is gone. They have placed sand bags out to try and keep the beach from disappearing, but that’s not the resorts fault. There’s plenty of beach and lounge chairs.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Royalton splash riviera

I missed the Spanish culture; the “Mexico feel” Amazing restaurants and good food Service was good everywhere but never particularly noticed staff going above and beyond. Was disappointed with the extra pay activities ie jump zone bowling and laser tag… overall well kept resort and I would return

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Nice place

The hotel and grounds are lovely. Food excellent. Staff wonderful. Entertainment great! Saw a fire show on the beach and a Michael Jackson show which was outstanding. We had a "jungle" room and fed monkeys on our balcony which was 3rd floor and very private. Beach is beautiful and there was no sargassum. Pool is nice too. This resort shares beach and pool with the Tucan so there are tons of people. Had a very hard time getting a lounger on the beach which was very frustrating. The resort is a $1 [... read more]0 cab ride from Fifth Ave for shopping and there is a little mall 5 minute walk from hotel. You have to fill glass water bottles in the room for water. Super eco friendly. Also they do not have any coffee mate in the rooms. Dont know why. Also, if you are a smoker its a nuisance because its banned in Mexico. They have 2 small areas set aside which were always packed but nothing near the beach. The advisory for Mexico says bring eco friendly sun screen but no one checks. Its like paste lol so didnt use it. We were sent a link to pay a new "Vista tax" but didnt pay it and wasnt asked for proof of pymnt. On the whole its a nice place if you dont mind ton of people. Myself I prefer smaller resort.The jungle rooms were the best for nature action. Monkeys swinging in trees and feeding them bananas, apples and pears was an experience of a lifetime. Enjoy!

Riu Tequila: Amazing vacation experience

The Hotel is great! We went as a family with kids, they are activities at night, beach was beautiful and foods are tasty! Lots of choices! The buffet is always fresh with updates! Workers are friendly! We will be back for sure!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Lubeck Shoemaker wedding

Not happy: We did not receive confirmation regrding our trip until the day before we were to fly. this caused much anxiety. Our son was getting married so we brought 80 people including kids age 2- 15 to Mexico. We paid high price for our flight which was supposed to be a direct flight. That’s what we paid for. We ended up having to leave Edmonton at midnight and flew across Canada to toronto. Then flew from toronto to cancan and arrived in cancan got a bus to the Hotel. When we arrived [... read more] we had to wait for our hotel rooms, because the resort wasn’t ready for us.. Our room was ok, but i had requested an adjoining room with Our daughter. Instead she got an adjoining room with a sister in law. We had requested that we all be close together as we were travelling with young children. Our son ended up approximately 2 km away. Not good. Every thing that was organized for the wedding set for Nov 3 turned out to be a disaster. No one can control the rain, but there should have been a back up location for the wedding reception, we ended up getting delayed for supper due to the rain, but when supper was served the table was soaking wet, and we all ended up drenched with the water leaking off the tables. Supper was miserable, people were getting shocks from the metal spoons, when we told the workers they all acted like they couldn’t speak English, very frustrating. Everything was way too expensive, not worth what we were charged. We ended up getting stranded in Montreal on our return flight. This cancelation caused my wife to miss a very important surgery which she had been waiting for for 2.5 years. No idea when she can be rescheduled. We had to get rooms for 35 people whom were on this flight. Absolutely not acceptable. I will not be recommending this travel site or the hotel

El Dorado Seaside Palms is a great resort, great food and a great entertainment team - Luis is fantastic and such a pleasure! Tons of people we met have been repeat guests for years which speaks volume

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Lovely Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this small , easy to get around resort. We had a perfect experience with all the service staff who were pleasant and eager to make things right for us. The grounds were accessible , which was a big assets as my husband had had recent knee surgery. Our room faced onto a forested area which provided us with privacy and nature. The beds, pillows and bed coverings were extremely comfortable. The food was quite good, most of the time. The only complaint would be that the drinks were weak both on the alcohol side and the mix.. the beer was tasty, though.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: resort going down hill

Been at the Blue bay Grand Esmeralda before and each time we have found it is going down hill more and more. It needs a lot of up keep. Our room the pillows have no stuffing left in them (flat as a pancake). The sliding patio door - could hardly get it open - it was stuck - use soap to loosen it up which helped. The door handle on room was held by a screw - not the proper one and we were worried not were not going to get out one day as it would be in our hands. The knob to turn on the showe [... read more]r was put together with some kind of nail. Some days we had to go after towels, hand towel or shower mat. No face cloths at all. They supplied 2 little bar of soap, 2 little bottles of shower gel, lotion, shampoo and conditioner for 2 people for the week - lucky we brought our own. Couple of buildings had tarps on the roof. Sports equipment - gun was broke - archery - no feathers on arrows or no ends. A lot of pool loungers will have to be replace shortly as they were near ripped(webbing was frail). Not even round pool. Food selection was less than previous time - but still good. All areas were clean. Over all impression - was gear to Circle One members. We are a member, but did not go as a circle one member. The picture above is not like that. Previous year if you were a circle one member they had the 4 post, you grab a lounger to put under it. First time there it was 5 star now may be a 3+ star. At the gate to go in to resort they had blue tiles with water flowing down the ledge very nice - now no tiles and no water.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Fantastic resort!!

I was impressed the moment we entered the lobby. Very clean and updated. The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of and the rooms were some of the nicest ones we’ve stayed in also. The food was amazing as well. My only complaint is that the bars usually only had one server and the line ups got very long, otherwise everything was perfect. Would 💯 recommend this resort.

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Very good resort

The service is 5 out of 5. My room needed a slight fix of the safe deposit box. The technician came in 5 min and fixed it. The stuff was polite and efficient. For the people who decide to go to this resort - bring water shoes with you. Long areas of the beach have rocks and in windy day, when water is murky, it will save your feet. When water is back to clear, you will see where to go, but in windy day you'd better have it. If you prefer pools - pools are very clean and well-maintained.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful place

Great place for families, pools very clean. The grounds well Maintained. Staff was very helpful. In the dining room we got to know David , always had our favourite table waiting for us , and our morning beverage order ready

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Excellent Family Resort

Our recent stay at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum was amazing! The newly renovated Premium Superior room was well appointed, clean, spacious & had adequate storage for our clothing, suitcases, pool floats, etc. The grounds and facilities are well maintained. The pools were clean, the restaurants were spotless, the staff went above & beyond to ensure guests were satisfied & happy. The resort offers many activities during the day & evening. The entertainment staff make sure everyone is having a gr [... read more]eat time! The fantastic kids club is great and has various activities for children ages 4-12. There’s also a teen club. Food was great whether it was from one of the many a la carte restaurants or the buffet. The food truck was handy being near the kids pool & water park. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, family trip to the Riviera Maya area.

- Common area is big, airy, and lots of space: very good - Entertainment=0:not good at all. Besides that,the show begins too late at 9:15PM, others place at 8:00 or 8:15PM - Mini-bar is not filled at all, have to ask at bar in downstair for water. - No salt & pepper on table, no spoon at soup, yaourt or ice cream place in buffet, have to ask for every meal. - No paper napkins available for coffee, ice cream, donuts, or cake,... at all places in the hotel, even in the reception office. - Foo [... read more]d is good in some restaurants in resort, but in the buffet place, food is not varied enough, almost the same every meals.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Family Friendly

The resort is beautiful and the pools were amazing. It is only steps from the ocean so you have the best of both world. It is very family friendly with lots of activities and fun things for the kids to do. The food was OK - not great and mostly because it is not very hot - they serve it in warmers, but most times it was almost cold by the time you get to your table. We had 3 ala carte restaurants included in our package, but we didn't reserve prior to arriving, and there was zero availabil [... read more]ity at any of the resorts included in our package. This left us only the buffet to eat at for meals and after a few days it got kind of monotonous. The music at the main pool at points got very loud (but that might be because I'm old) lol I do have to say, we were there for Halloween and Day of the Dead Celebrations and they were phenomenal! We really enjoyed the decorations, the dancing and the costumes! The main criticism I have for this resort is on their events. We were there for my daughter's wedding and it Rained - they have NO event tents to set up and as a result, the décor my daughter spent weeks and weeks creating, got ruined, the guests had to sit at tables that had soaking wet table clothes - we managed to get the meal almost eaten before it started to rain again and they made us walk in the rain to the nearby restaurant verandah where they changed the reception to. If they had simply set up an event tent (they knew there was a 30% chance of rain) we would have been able to enjoy the evening without everyone getting soaking wet. Most of the staff were great and very accommodating (especially the cart transfer guys at concierge) but I did experience some very negative staff when calling the front desk. Overall it was an excellent trip with family and friends.

This is a resort that lives up to it's 5 star rating. The Grounds, Rooms, Pools and Beach were all first class. The Food was the best I have ever had at an All Inclusive Resort. The 3 Specialty restaurants had great food and service. The Buffet for breakfast and Lunch, usually gets old fast. Not this one, such a huge selection and both my wife and I remarked that we had enough choices to change it up everyday. For those who have food allergies the resort prepared a letter that I carried to ea [... read more]ch restaurant and I had no issues with cross contamination, I struggle with this at Canadian restaurants all the time. Thanks to Jessica B in guest services who explained it to me and provided the letter. Huge resort great for walking and felt completely safe.
