Playa Costa Verde: Nice place rooms were good , asked to change rooms and got a super nice room on second floor closer to pool and food

Place was awesome , well keeped staff was amazing beautiful people food was a plenty , desserts were super nice , entertainment was great lots of fun after show in disco , amazing staff Restaurants were relaxing and fun , treated super special, flowers were fresh in bathrooms really nice

What a beautiful place to visit. We had a really good week. The place was very clean. The people were friendly. The beach was beautiful. I really didn't have any complaints about anything. The price was very fair.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good experience with some caveats

Most people are nice, great beach and view. Food is decent given the situation i still liked it. However there were some issues like the moisture in room and unclean sheets and pillows. Overall still good for the price but there are salubrity and amenities concerns.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Average trip to Cuba

Starting with the beach it was awesome!! This is the reason we travel to Cuba. Food was very repetitive at this resort, although we did not starve the a la cartes all offered the same menu options (chicken,fish or pork) that is pretty much what we ate all week for dinner. Beach snack var had hamburgers, ham and cheese, pasta, hot dogs. Coffee was hit and miss, ran out some days also beer. No shows a [... read more]t the theater at night, there was some entertainment in the lobby every evening (singer,sax player, band) The hotel seemed to be in its low season as there were not many guests the week we were there, maybe 100 total. That could be the reason for the lack of food options and entertainment. No activities at the beach or pool areas during the day. All in all it was a relaxing vacation, not sure I would return to this resort unless it was a super great deal $$ to go.

Iberostar Coral Ensenachos: Beautiful beaches , wonderful staff!

Lovely resort with beautiful spacious villas, with.private hottubs. The grounds are lovely and the pool is spotless. The beach is to die for and you can go for long walks. Please be aware that this is Cuba and the food which was decent was far from exceptional The staff was amazing and always did their best to please! I will return with no hesitation!

Marazul Hotel: Value for money

I've been to this hotel/resort on many occasions. This time I noticed,was cleaner, the food was of value, utilities were fine, room was clean and attentive. The supply of drinking water was not explained.i found the staff controlled the supply. Power outages,was a nuisance,but was manageable.on the whole. I had a pleasant ,two weeks.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice Resort for the money

Nice place, still on the newer side. Very clean and well kept, Rooms are nice and clean, comfortable beds. Ice cold AC. Great view from 7109. Great maid service. The staff overall was very friendly. The beach was fantastic. Our trip was at the beginning of the low season so the resort was not full at all. Never an issue with pool loungers or palapas at the beach. We had our own little section it almost felt like our own version the "Club". Spent all day every day at the beach. Free 30min Hobie c [... read more]at sailing (with a "captain") free paddle boats or kayaks. Nice little place to snorkel right off the beach. Lots of little and even some big fish. Great for beginners. The water was never rough and very shallow really far out. Crystal clear water. The food was not fantastic and yes there were some shortages but we always had plenty of choices and plenty to eat. I am not sure I have ever heard of anyone going to for the food. We went into knowing what to expect and everything was fine. Do bring mosquito repellent, and use lots of it. They are like commando mosquitos down there. This was a perfect fit for the price, you couldn't beat it. 7 days on that beach was perfect. Don't plan on doing any extra curricular activities though. the resort is basically in the middle of nowhere. But again we knew that going in. Would we go back, yes, for the price we paid for sure. The beach alone is worth every penny.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Swim up is wonderful

It was a beautiful resort. We saw groundskeepers every morning taking care of the property. In 7 days we went to the beach 3 days and after the beach, the swim up outside our room. I think that was our favourite part, which was why we spent all the other days at the swim up. The staff were all helpful, amazingly friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We probably could have had a dance party. The food was fine. Several guests brought condiments from home, like peanut butter, jam, ketchup as they aren’t usual items that are available in Cuba. Crazy thing….cigars were not available at the cigar bar. There were none. The gift shop was independently run and the person that ran it was never there. Sometimes the light was on, the sign said open and the door was locked. The resort has no input regarding the gift shop, so if you needed anything, you could go to the market down the road a few minutes and see if you could find what you needed there. Overall, I would absolutely go back on another trip to Cuba

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Better Than Anticipated

We did not experience any shortages. They had eggs each morning, lots of bread, pizza by Carlos was very good. A la carte was good when opened (every other night). Service was very good. Beds and pillows were unusually comfortable for Cuba. AC was terrific ?Hot water was excellent. No shortages of wine, sparkling wine, beer, gin, vodka, whiskey or rum. The beach is the absolute best! I believe Sunwing is a part owner and the should be ashamed that they don't do more to improve the property. We realize that it is challenging to acquire certain things in Cuba, however, if you go a couple of resorts down the beach to The Royalton, you find that it's still possible to maintain a hotel in Cuba. We understand that they are a more expensive property, but if the don't start looking after the Grand Memories they will pass the point of no return. Overall a good place to go if you are looking for a low cost vacation. You'll enjoy yourself if your expectations are aligned with the price you pay . We'd definitely spend the extra next time to go to a better maintained property such as The Royalton. You get what you pay for. Don't forget your bug spray, depending on the time of the year you will need it.

Valentin Perla Blanca: You get what you pay for

I want to start off by saying the bartenders and waiters are amazing and the beaches are beautiful. Unfortunately, it feels like the resort is cutting back on costs with food and entertainment. I wish we didn’t have to ask for necessities such as towels and bedding to be changed and that amenities were open such as the gym and the theatre where performances were supposed to happen. The food was re used throughout the day and the wifi was always “down”.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful Resort

Everything was good , all staff was supportive, caring and well trained. Just little suggestioi would like to give is try to hire some employees who can understand and spreak English as well. Overall it was pleasure staying there????

Don Lino Hotel: Fantastic.

First time here and I have to say it exceed my expectations. Staff was superb. Facilities excellant. Going back for sure. Many extras included to my suprise. Food was good and the beach great. The new bar on the terrace provides a beautiful view of the ocean and country side

Our check in was good. My group was booked in the same building but mine was separate. Room: good size for a suite and complete supply of amenities. My 2nd, 3rd and 4th night was infested by bugs. Good thing I brought my bug spray. They were everywhere even behind tables and curtains. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Cozy and friendly Paradisus D'Oro

Resort was smaller than I thought but it made it a little more intimate than a sprawling mega resort teaming with tourists. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable, although the decor was getting a bit dated. They use carts to taxi you around the grounds but I found everything close by - restaurants, bars, the pool, the beach and the lobby all walkable. Everything is organic I think so it taste slight different than North American food but probably better for you. I can say that I've ate better at other resorts in Varadero but the service in the restaurants was good. Moving onto the beach, Playa Esmeralda was awesome, one of the nicest beaches in Cuba. Although the stretch in front of this resort was a bit rocky, it was good for snorkelling. Once you get beyond them or walk a little bit down the beach, it was beautiful and great swimming. Just be careful at that far end of the beach at the other resort near the seawall, my wife got stung by sea urchin on her foot and had to be treated by the resort medic. Finally, I want to give a shoutout to the very friendly, humble and helpful Cuban staff. They work hard and hesitate to smile or say Hola to you.

Sol Palmeras: Average, but beach is great!

Maximum 3 star resort, price must be no more than 1k C$ for 7 nights. May is good month to be on this resort, ocean is warm and great for adult and kids. Enough sun beds on the beach, there is a lunch restaurant close the the beach. Nothing exiting, only beach is good

Playa Pesquero: Pleasant surprise

I had been to Cuba prior to COVID and then returned in Nov 2022 In November I was shocked by the lack of Everything. I booked this because we hd a credit and I had few options- I went with minimal expectations— to my surprise—- the staff was sooo great, friendly and accommodating The A La Carte restaurants were actually really good! Sanctuary White Sands: Brand New Resort with potential

The resort is quite new and has yet to tap into its full potential. Despite being an adults-only destination, it features two shallow pools akin to children’s pools, encircled by lounge chairs. I believe this space could be repurposed more effectively. The majority of the staff seem to be in the early stages of their employment, yet their earnest efforts to excel are evident and commendable, especially considering the broader challenges of supply shortages in Cuba. Overall, my stay was enjoyable, particularly due to the oceanfront room that offered a daily spectacle of the sunrise cresting the ocean’s horizon from the comfort of my balcony.

Sanctuary White Sands: Amazing Resort

I was looking for a smaller, quieter resort with a nice pool and beach. I was thrilled with the Sanctuary White Sands. Both the pool and ocean were extremely warm. The ocean was crystal clear. Our room was more than adequate. We had a partial ocean view together with construction of the new hotel next door but the construction was never an issue. The food in Cuba was as to be expected. T Tourist ratio Cubans 70% to 30% International - They make you feel uncomfortable, they take most of the food (fill up plastic containers hidden in their beach bags). The locals want to keep this resort for themselves and they let you know it. They either ignore or intimate. I understand their hardships and they deserve to enjoy the beauty of their own country and live well but its not a good idea to mix international with local. It simply doesn't work. I would say its almost borderline dangerous for Canadians to travel to this resort. Keep it for the locals and don't expect International tourists to keep it afloat by helping their economy. I have already advised everyone I know not to travel to this resort...they have booked elsewhere. After 21 visits to this country (first time Holguin) and after this experience, I'm not sure I will return to Cuba. The new generation is different. This is not the Cuba that I thought I knew....at least not at this resort.

Blau Varadero: Highly Recommended Resort

This is my first time at the Blau Varadero. I would highly recommend the resort to others. a few shortages, but nothing to complain about. The, food for me was ok, no complaints from me. The resort is clean, the staff is amazing and friendly. The entertainment crew gets you involved and the beach bar night disco keeps your dancing all night long. But, you need to bring Mosquito bug spray and we did find ants in our room. ** something to watch for**
