Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: NOT GREAT

NOT enough things to do and every where you go on the site you are being harassed. FOOD tasteless ,tables not cleaned, servers not polite , never asked if you need anything like a fork or glass ALWAYS had to ask and ask and ask and most of the time when asked to bring something they never did LOL. ALWAYS sat at a dirty table that you had to go find someone to clean it . Shows at night boring . The bars the drinks were deluded a lot . Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing stay at Ocean Blue Punta Cana

The hotel and grounds were very well kept, everything was clean and fresh. Nice beach, clean water and 2 large pools! Loved that a number of a la carte restaurants didn’t require reservations and the food was excellent - the Mexican and Japanese were our favourite! We also appreciated being able to catch our football games at the sports bar. I would recommend taking a private transfer vs the provided transportation as it was a bit of a drive.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Terrible experience- Avoid this hotel!

I cannot stress enough how awful my stay at this hotel was. From the very beginning, communication was a nightmare. The staff, aside from the receptionists, spoke little to no English, making it extremely difficult to get anything done or even ask simple questions. The language barrier created constant frustration, especially when dealing with the people running activities by the pool. On the third day of our stay, we found ourselves unable to open the room safe. After calling the security team [... read more], they came to fix the problem. When they opened it, we discovered that 5500 pesos had been stolen from the safe. The situation escalated further as the head of security did not speak English, and we had to rely on a translator to communicate. Their response was unprofessional and infuriating. They promised an investigation, asking us to wait 72 hours, but after that period, we heard nothing. When we followed up, there was still no resolution, and ultimately, they took no responsibility for the theft. In the end, we lost our money, and the hotel showed no effort to rectify the situation. We were left feeling completely abandoned and disrespected. Save yourself the trouble—stay somewhere else. This place is a nightmare.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Beautiful Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine

The resort, grounds, pool and beach are beautiful and well kept. The room was disappointing. It is dated, definitely some mold and needs some improvements. We enjoyed the restaurants and the employees were wonderful!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: A good reasonably priced resort with nice beach's available

Over all we would give the hotel a good review. We have been going there about 6 years now, this year for 18 days & have found staff & services quite good. Quality & varity of food was very good except for their roast beef which was available most days. I had thought of requesting to talk with the cook to find out what there tenderizing process was as it turned the meat soft & mushy even though ccooked perfectly. El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Great resort

We really enjoyed our time here. The food was surprisingly really good. We liked the French restaurant the best - the rack of lamb was tender and tasty.The Japanese restaurant put on a good show, however it all tasted the same, like soya sauce so not a hit in our family. The tips and cues we received were amazing, especially for people in our family who were injured. The guy who led archery was super patient and a trooper with the bad shots in our family. We loved the rooms. Beds were comfy, clean, the double showers great and hot. The views were incredible and the balcony was super comfortable. The room was little a cold but we dealt with it. We loved the beach and had a great time on it. The waves were fun to play in and even though the beach wasn’t super long, we were still able to get in our 15k plus steps a day. Recommend for sure. The family areas were busier so we stayed more often in the adults only section and it was a great place to relax and if you wanted, to party as well. The only part that made us mad was the timeshare presentation. They wouldn’t let us eat lunch, or think about it (it’s a lot of money to make a quick decision) and we left with nothing after they had held us there for 3 HOURS. Not impressed. Then they got all pissy with us when we walked away. No one reached out to us the next day to see if we had made a decision. Horrible business decision by them as we would have bought something. Great resort but skip the presentation.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Great resort

Great resort with Great food. The work they have done with the beach is amazing. Been here 3 times and the beach is improved. Buffet is fantastic always Great food to eat. The entertainment personal have been replaced and in my opinion needs work, but thay are new so to be expected.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Do not pay for upgrades

The resort is very nice well laid out, the staff is great and the food at the specialty restaurants is great. The rooms were clean but no wifi. Do not pay for superior adults only or the VIP because the only thing it’s good for is the VIP lounge. Reservation are not needed at any of the restaurants The adults only has children every weekend and although they say room amenities wifi there is only wifi in common areas and the VIP lounge. On the weekends the locals take over and the management [... read more] does nothing to help the staff in controlling their activities.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Fabulous stay

We stayed with family for a week and totally enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was amazing. We had no complaints. There was so much variety. We all absolutely loved the Fusion a la carte and would have eaten there every night if we could have. Only thing my husband was not a fan of was plastic glasses from the bar in the evening and some inconsistent drink mixes. The beach was stunning and you could always find chairs and loungers. Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very Chill Boutique Resort

Smaller boutique resort. Food was excellent, rooms were great, and the entertainment team was very good. Very pretty grounds and beach but the waves can get quite big. Loungers are easy to get even mid day. All of the staff were great.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: 3rd visit!!

I like to book through trip central because they are easy to deal with. We've been to the Caribbean 20 times at least over the years and this is the first resort we've stayed at 3 times, different room classifications and levels, ocean view, ocean front jr suite and ocean front suite. Premium level twice. We go to this resort for safety, food variety and golf. Go premium if you can.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Very bad experience!

Our family went to this resort, looking to have a wonderful experience. It was a huge disappointment! The food was not good at all. Extremely salty food and poor taste. One night that we ate in the Japanese restaurant was particularly bad! The food was overloaded with salt and the atmosphere was too loud, way too much noise. The servers also tried to limit the quantity of food you could order at the à la carte restaurants. This was supposed to be all you can eat, but they wanted to limit you [... read more] to a certain amount of food. Very annoying! The language barrier was a huge problem With the staff. They didn’t understand what you were asking them and they couldn’t help you because they just couldn’t speak English for the most part. Very frustrating experience. The cleaners in charge of the room did not do a good job. The only thing they did well was make the bed, but they couldn’t even clean properly. Poor hygiene. We were over 20 family members that went there and almost half of us fell ill with vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Very bad experience, my daughter and I and several others left there sick! The Staff were not friendly, warm and helpful. Check-in took too long, there were not enough staff at the counter to attend to us. Even when you complain, nothing is done to make you feel better or compensate you. The nightly live entertainment was Totally unimpressive. Again, much of it was in Spanish so you couldn’t understand it.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Amazing Resort, NOT

I had high expectations when i was tasked with booking our holiday I chose this resort because it looks good from far nestled in a picturesque mountain the waters looked so calm in this picture the beach looks also like it continues let me stop here because I'm making it sound incredible I also watched a video from the general manager saying how it was your choice how you wanted to stay here "Bed and Breakfast", A lacarte or all Inclusive which was the more expensive option we chose all incl [... read more]usive Well all inclusive didn't even include your basic liquor. I will say that all of the staff was amazing front desk, dining room staff, bar tenders, maids, lifeguards, grounds crew Food was ok buffet was repetetive not many choices but always found something to eat It reminded me of Cuba only more expensive

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Sunscape Coco

Very well kept grounds,Staff were amazing, always making sure we were happy and had what we needed. The food was also very good, nice variety and always so hot and fresh. Animation staff had a lot of fun activities and got to know your name. The evening shows were also quite good, only wished they could start a little earlier.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Layout, very accommodating.

Our family had a great time at this resort. The location is perfect, the pool area, beach and rooms are all a short walk from each other. The public beach is incredible, white sand palm trees. Lots of shade, safe beach for walking. Great view of the Ocean. The staff were excellent, front desk were very accommodating from our arrival to departure. I would like to thank ROSA and her staff for our nice stay. Friendly experience, we will be back soon.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Not great but ok

Hotel was not in great shape. Ceiling leaked water all day every day. Outlets did not work so couldn't charge phones. No fan in bathroom. No mirror in main room. Seemed over crowded with one main pool. Staff were great however.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort: Beautiful place

So far this is our favourite resort and one we will definitely be back to. The whole resort is beautiful and very clean. The staff are always out cleaning. The a la carts were fantastic. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds were the best we have had so far. They are not hard as a rock. The beach was clean. There was never any garbage in the sand. We absolutely loved the place.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Palladium Bavaro

Entertainment was amazing! Rooms are outdated but we are aware that they are renovating! A la carte !!! Steak el dorado was re located in a buffet area .. didn’t feel like an a la carte .. our room was fine but a sibling of mine had a room that wasn’t up to par !! Open bottles etc dirty sheets in the room upon arrival … found a live cockroach !!! After numerous attempts to contact reception they did not help and would hang up !!! Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: NEVER AGAIN!

Over four decades and after visiting the Dominican Republic for at least 15 times, this particular "vacation" was the absolute worst my wife and I can remember. As elderly people with moderate habits, I was taken ill on our third day on site with severe diarrhea, had to consult the resort's resident doctor and spent -- besides US$330 -- the balance of our "vacation" taking anti-biotics, pills for fever and chills and pro-biotics. On the final night in the resort, my wife was taken ill by way o [... read more]f vomiting and diarrhea and travelled severely ill all the way back to Canada on an empty stomach since all she could consume without vomiting was water and pretzels. There is no question in our minds that the level of hygiene security in the kitchen and in the bars were lacking. NEVER AGAIN will we be staying at this or any other Bahia Principe resort. For that matter, I think we shall write off the DR as a destination.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: A lot has changed in two years

I went to this resort December 2022 and loved it. We went back last week, December 2024 and a lot has changed. Overall, it is very run down and under staffed. I got the feeling it was next to be renovated as I know some of the other resorts on this property have been renovated in the last 2 years. I would pick a different resort on the property next time. We went to Aquamarine in 2023 and liked it a lot.
