Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort

Great resort and value for money. Food by resort standards is above average, buffet great and Japan restaurant excellent, beach BBQ's always excellent especially Paella. Rec staff keep you going with tons of activities. Walk the beach for miles. My pool view room was excellent. Casino/Disco right next door kept a bit of my money but lots of fun.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Wonderful time.

We returned to Grand Paradise after several years of trying new places. It was nice to still see some familiar faces. It was also nice to see that they seem to be continuing to renovate and upkeep the resort. Yes it is an older resort but the rooms and the grounds are so well kept and very clean. The staff there is top notch. From the staff at the front counter, the wait staff, the bartenders (so nice to see you again Hugo), the maids and the entertainment staff.....all very professional and ver [... read more]y pleasant. My only criticism might be the nightly entertainment....the staff gave it a good try but I felt it used to be better several years ago. Also, with so many people having dietary restrictions nowadays, it would have been nice to see some allergy/gluten free/vegan labelling on the buffet. That being said, it was a wonderful relaxing vacation and it was just what we were needing.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Good value

We were returning guests - we went to this resort last Winter too and decided to go back here again this Winter. Great grounds, great food, great service. The beach is nor that good. Lots of seaweeds this year.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: No complaints here!

Each and every staff I interacted with were friendly and greeted us with a smile, whether it was house keeping, grounds staff or restaurant personnel. The food was great, never had a bad meal and clean drinking water was always readily available. The diversity of food options was incredible. Where our room was had a pool that was quiet, secluded and essentially private with soothing music in the background. The room was clean, beds comfy and cute patio. There was entertainment every night, with one night tribute to Michael Jackson! Don't miss out on the Sunday welcome party, it was pure insanity in terms of entertainment, food and fire works! Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Fabulous Vacation!

We just returned from our 7 day vacation at Cofresi Palm Beach Resort, and I can highly recommend this resort. From the moment we arrived to the day of departure, we received the highest standard of service from a remarkable team of employees at the resort. The resort, the many pools and all buildings and grounds are well kept. Beautiful flowers abound at every corner. No garbage laying about. We were always greeted with a smile and a Hola! The Cofresi is connected to The Tropical and the Lifestyle Resort, and as a guest of Cofresi, you can enjoy the amenities at these two resorts as well. Cofresi, The Tropical, and The Lifestyle Resort make this resort quite large, but there is always a bus shuttle or a friendly golf cart driver that comes by to give you a lift. Beware of "timeshare" or "membership" pitch. As with any resort, they will approach you quite quickly after you arrive with the offer of a tour of the resort only to end up with a sales pitch! The beach is lovely but we found the water a bit rough. Would be great for surfing enthusiasts! All in all, one of the best resorts I have been to! The Activation Team is remarkable. Kudos to "Skinny Boy", "Black Diamond", and many more for making our holiday the best!! We would have no hesitation in returning to this resort.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Tired resort...needs remodelling

This resort was disappointing. There were several tiles around the pools that were broken or loose creating a walking hazard. The rooms were basic, colourless and needed to be redone. There were no dressers in the rooms so we had to live out of our suitcases and that was not fun. There were stains on the bed linens which leads me to believe that they were not changed regularly. The food was not great and almost the same every day. The specialty restaurants were only open on certain days an [... read more]d it was impossible to get reservations because of this. The tour we went on was crappy and not worth the money.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Small but nice

We went at the beginning of Dec. It’s a small resort but enjoyed it. The food was good at the buffet. The 3 à la carte was just ok. The beach is very nice and lots of shade if needed. The bed are very comfortable. Rooms and place is very clean. We stayed on the upper floor:) we used their bicycles and surprised we made it back without them falling apart. We bought the extra package of 35$ US for the Wifi.This way you have all the time , but not at the beach. It’s free by the entertain [... read more]ment, but very slow, unless you go first thing in the AM. Little Mall 5 minutes walk away. Lots of venders on the beach. We got massages for 30$ US for one hour. Well I would recommend this place.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Holiday

Hotel rooms are nice, not wow but ok, Food was good, Entertainment are awsome, friendly nice and fun, The beach party was the best , so much fun, The foam party also lots of fun We took a zip line tour that i wouldnt go again, almost all day in the bus , 3 stops but very short

I found the resort to be awesome. There was a lot of positive energy. The staff were very accommodating and happy. We had requested an ocean view-to our surprise were given a suite with a beautiful view. I plan on returning in April 2019 and would definitely need to book the same room1412. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: VH Heavens

The resort was great. The activities group were amazing. The food was good too. Loved the a la carte and no reservations The rooms were spacious and clean. Only downside would be the fact that no rooms have beach view or really much of any view Keep in mind it is a small resort. My type but not everyone’s. Also the resort is back from the beach. We landed at 1115 and as we had no checked baggage we opted for the 35 Usd cab ride and were in our room by noon. Also keep in mind it wasn’t prime time. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: A little tired...but clean

the grounds are kept lovely, and the resort is clean, but it is in dire need of an overhaul/reno. A fresh coat of paint and roofing replaced would go a long way to achieving this. The palms on the beach are lovely, and provide ample shade for when you've had enough sun. The breakwater lumps in the water, while effective at reducing the surf and resulting dangerous undertow, are unsightly and spoil the beauty. Since they turn a light green color with the algae, maybe instead of black, a light gr [... read more]een color or an aqua color might've helped them 'blend' into the scenery a little better. Service was overall very good, and the food was, well....the food. Not any better or any worse than most other resorts in the Caribbean, but certainly nothing to rave about. The Dolce Vito and the Takana ala cartes were decent, but the Orquidea ala carte was above average. Since we travelled with Air Canada, we were allowed 4 ala cartes, so we chose to go to Orquidea twice. Insect bites. Now here's a real minus. After a couple of days we noticed we were both getting small red welts all over, and were they itchy! At first, my wife thought they might be bed bugs, but after close inspection we determined this was not the case. We didn't feel anything biting us, and didn't see anything either. We were puzzled for a day or two, but we noticed others with the same red welts on their legs and arms. Then we saw them. Right around 5pm, when the sun was getting lower in the sky, tiny, almost microscopic winged bugs. Sandfleas we suspect. We coated ourselves with bug repellent as well as sunscreen for the remainder of the week, but the itching sort of spoiled the vacation. We have been to other resorts in the past where they fog the beach and pool areas with insecticides at dusk when everyone is away from those areas. The nightly entertainment was ghastly, although the Michael Jackson show and the circus show were quite good. All in all a good time, but a few things need addressing at this resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort with great employees

This resort is compact and easy to navigate, even with mobility issues. It is kept very clean, in the rooms and open areas. The public washrooms are well maintained. The grounds keepers are always busy and have everything well manicured. The food is an individual taste and for us it was fine. Juan, the smooth, smoothie maker was fantastic. Elvin at the beach bar was great, and I always had a delicious drink, even when I wanted just lemonade. Our room was kept clean and the fridge full. I rally h [... read more]ave no complaints about anything. The staff is as helpful, cheerful, and welcoming as you continually read in reviews of this property. Oh, the pillows were a bit firm for my liking, and it would have been nice to have stairs with railings to enter the pool - not just the ladders. Hope to return soon.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Tired Resort

This hotel is in need of many upgrades in the rooms as well as around the pools. The VIP recruiters got to be a little annoying. The food was only mediocre. The all inclusive was not really what I expected. The mini bars in the rooms were only stocked for the first day according to the front desk staff. You had to pay to have daily refills for your room. Very disappointing! On a positive note....the weather was amazing!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Fantastic Resort!

Great resort. Our suite by the Ocean was the size of an apartment. All of the staff and entertainment people were very nice and always helpful. The beach was beautiful. Had lots of fun playing in the waves on our inner tubes. The food was top notch in both the buffet restaurant and the Italian restaurant. Did not visit any other restaurant. There is a shopping plaza on the same compound as the resort with a movie theatre and lots of different shops.

We spent a week at Iberostar and went on 2 trips. We enjoyed the nature, the resort, especially the lobby. Some of the concerts were spectacular. The food was OK, lots of variety, but I wish there was more seafood. Drinks were OK, but limited. No specialty coffees, things like that. Just coffee. Pina colada was not real. Only at Ocean World we drank real pina colada. Wine and beer were good. Restaurants were nice, the food was plenty and good. The beach was not like in Cuba. Sea weeds and not cl [... read more]ear water. The water was warm and the beach itself was big and nice, but no activities on the beach. No water sports. The kids club was always closed. The pools were lit up at night, and that was beautiful. Lots of cats, no animal control. Even though the cats were lovely, they are not immunized or maintained. They were roaming around garbage bins. Overall, we had good experience. The mountains and the nature are amazing.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Had a Great Week at Viva Wyndham!

We really enjoyed our stay at Viva Wyndham. Our suite and the hotel grounds were clean and well maintained (although the beds are very hard), restaurants, bars and buffet were delicious and well stocked and we had no significant issues to contend with. Staff are not as friendly/smiling as other places we have been to but very attentive and polite. LOTS of great activities everyday at the resort and the Animation team are amazing - so happy, energetic and friendly. They really helped to make [... read more] our trip (we especially made connections with Miss Africa and Blondie/Pineapple Head - our favourites! You guys were awesome!!). We did a bike ride, yoga, aqua-sizes in the pool, beach volleyball, fun group activities and went to the shows at night. Beach and pool were clean and have lots of chairs available plus access to food/drinks. Was quite windy with strong waves the whole week so we didn't utilize the kayaks/paddle boards. Only complaint would be the constant hawkers trying to sell you things every 5 mins...we understand it was low season and it would be nice if there was a section they couldn't come into on the beach! Front desk was a bit disorganized and we weren't sure why we couldn't confirm our late checkout until the day we were leaving (they should know who is coming to the resort days in advance right?) but finally Jose was able to take care of us so we had a great last day! Nearby Mall (5 min walk) is great and very convenient. Prices were very fair and negotiable and we bought our souvenirs there.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Awesome week!

Checked in right away. Upgraded to a suite which was three feet away from beach. Only 1 bed though. Grounds were beautiful and nicely kept. Hotel staff very friendly. Rooms could use brighter lights especially in bathroom . Also full curtains in living room. Food was good, but salad bar needs to have more salads! All in all a great week. Would definitely go back. 30 degrees is much better than snow.
