Brisas Guardalavaca: Our 2nd home

We have been coming here twice a year for many years and have made many friends with the staff and even some fellow guests. Each time we arrive we see familiar faces so it feels like home. The resort is very clean and of anything that is needed it is quickly rectified with a smile. The food is delicious and plentiful and we have never gone hungry.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Simply Amazing !!

I can’t say enough about this place . You will eat,drink,dance,laugh,cry.. and meet all the people who makes the resort a JEM !! Ariel you are by far the most amazing concierge!! Cuba is Cuba ….go for the Beach!! Open your eyes look at the sky and enjoy ❤️

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: The perfect get away

This resort is the perfect get away for me. It has delicious foods, friendly customer service, clean rooms, friendly and cheerful cleaners, waiters and waitresses are very down to earth superb specially at Alegance ( I’ll give these people two thumbs up for their services), gardeners are friendly as well and greet you “Ola” all the time.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Not so good

The rooms and grounds were okay. The services were limited.....don't know if it was the time of year? The food was not the greatest in the buffet, it was the same menu everyday. The mosquitoes were sickening, also I got a reaction to some ? or food item not mosquitoes, a lot of the guests had it. I had to see a doctor and get an antidote to stop the hives and itching.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Relaxing vacation

Food was surprisingly good, beach was incredible. Some of the staff seemed a bit rude at times, mainly at the lobby bar. Overall great place for a relaxing vacation. If you are a smoker I’d highly recommend bringing enough for the trip. There’s no vaping in Cuba and the store rarely had any for sale except menthols.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Nice Resort,Good Food, Amazing beach and Ocean

They have made some improvements to the resort since covid. They are currently renovating the rooms. The pool was nice and it was clean. The beach is second to none and the ocean is so clean and clear. It helps that it is warm for people like me who do not like cold water. The food was good and plentiful. No shortages. One night during the entertainment, there was a man there who was drunk and he was pushing himself on the lady running the entertainment. He was very persistand and was getting worse as time went on. She made it clear she did not want him to bother her and at one point she was in tears. Nobody stepped in to help even though she was trying to hide from him in the cigar shop and the main lobby. My son went up to the front desk and said the man was sexually assaulting her and asked them to stop him. They told security,, but they didnot help the situation. They were laughing with him and at one point they were standing beside her and this man went up and grabbed her from behind and started grinding on her. SECURITY DID NOTHING AT ALL and they were only about 2 feet away from her. They saw the whole thing. I went to front desk and said if they did not stop him I was leaving a bad review and would not be staying there again. Still nothing happened. He even went and sat at a table right were she had to work from. The lady in charge of the entertainment dancers finally came and tried to push him and his wife away from the lobby area but they just returned and started dancing along side the show dancers. Eventually, about 45 to 60 minutes later a man in jeans and dress shirt finally came and made them leave. He looked to be a main manager of the hotel. They should have, at the very least, escorted him to his room but instead they chose to do nothing and let him be. I felt so bad for the poor lady. She is one of the hotel employees yet they did nothing to protect her from this predator. He had no intention of leaving her alone. It was quite scary to watch. I did not feel safe with him there because he and his wife were right back at it the next day. If this is how TRYP treats their employees I cant imagine what they would have done if it was a guest. I love Tryp, and have been there numerous times, but Im not confident I will be back unfortunately.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love Sol Rio de Luna Y Mares

This was our second trip to SRLM and we were concerned about the negative reviews regarding the food in Cuba. There was no concern there. The Cuban soup was delicious. The omelets were very good. The buffet was good, a little repetitive but very good food. We never went hungry, believe me. We had eggs every day and bacon almost every day. Besides, I don't eat bacon and eggs everyday at home. lol. I would advise you bring condiments like ketchup and mustard, no big deal for me. The staff were won [... read more]derful, always smiling. It was wonderful to see Dora again. Most staff speak good English, The maids were always smiling and friendly. I looked forward to hearing "HOLA" every morning. The pool was clean and the swim-up bar was great. The beach is amazing, just like I remembered it. You can snorkel right off the beach, plenty of fish too. I can't wait to go back. My only disappointment was that the Luna side was closed for renovations but that really didn't but a damper on our vacation. If you are considering booking SRLM, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Thank You to the management of SRLM for keeping this resort as wonderful as I remembered. Thank You to Carol Mack from Tripcentral, who made our booking very easy.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort!

Everything is wonderful - food, facilities, amazing beach area with sport activities available for all ages and abilities Staff is great and helpful, wonderful entertainment program and nice spacious area, gym The only thing is mosquitoes in the open area restaurants- so take OFF repellent with you

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: RELAXING WELCOMING RESORT

This resort was very nice, welcoming and relaxing! It was unusually hot the week we went thank goodness air conditioning in rooms, restaurants and bar worked well. Wasn't enough covered/shaded areas outside to cool off. Pool area was very nice however the lounge chairs collapsed. One of the employees was kind enough to get us 2 good ones. Pork seems to be the major food which was hard as we don't eat port. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great resort!

The water and beach was amazing. The food at the adults only side was actually quite decent! The rooms could use some updating and renovations but, we barely spent any time there so it was fine. The service was great! They tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible.

Selectum Family Resort Varadero: New isn't always better.

This is my 4th visit to Varadero (March 28-April 4) and I thought I would try this new resort. I loved my ocean view (Room 1432), the newness and the layout of it, as it overlooked the pools/entertainment area. I could sit and enjoy the shows from the comfort of my balcony. The entertainment staff are exceptional. Poolside, evening shows or lobby bar. I enjoyed the musicians at the lobby bar several evenings and those drinks - YUM! As a non smoker, I appreciated the designated smoking areas.  [... read more]As for the food, every day there were several types of yogurt, breads, pastries, milk for cereal and a variety of fruits and fruit juices. I don't eat eggs, but I did see several egg options. Lunch offered salads, cheeses, deli meats, fish, chicken, beef. Not as much pork as other resorts, lots of cabbage and pumpkin. The buffet is unorganized and under staffed with no visible Manager. Those workers couldn't keep up with the demand of clearing and cleaning tables, resetting and providing coffee/hot water/libations. From travelling to resorts over the past 30 years, this is the worst buffet layout and food I have experienced. That's not to negate the workers - it's a comment to management. I expected more. The workers that clean the rooms is hit and miss. My worker was friendly but towels weren't changed out, I made the bed more than the worker, floors rarely cleaned and bathroom / shower not touched. There are USB plugs on each side of the bed (I had king size), working safe, and plenty of hangers. I read many comments on the beach and all is true. The area near the pier has no rocks upon entry; otherwise, it's not a smooth entry as there are rocks. It's a bit of maneuvering, and sometimes comical, to get past the rocky entrance and then it's wonderful. It's not coral. I didn't wear shoes and not cuts to my feet, but I did see others wear them. Whatever is your comfort level. As a Sunwing patron, I took advantage of the one free dinner at the VIP restaurant. The 7th floor location offered lovely ocean/canal views, beautiful setup and good service. The Sunwing menu is preset vs the menu given to paying visitors. My meal left much to be desired. The beer was cold and the champagne was delicious! Overall, for me, I found this resort lacked personality. In speaking with repeat visitors, it has decreased in services in less than a year, which I can see from lack of upkeep in elevators, main floors - but the lobby is kepy clean! As a PSA, be mindful if you keep your suitcases locked in the complimentary storage room. I discovered items stolen from my carry on bag once I reached the airport. The only time my carry on was out of my sight was when in storage. I took advantage of this service due to the several hours lag time before the airport transfer. I was sad from this as in all of my Cuban visits, I have never had this happen. For the reasons above, I would not return to to this resort.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Resort

Royalton great resort, service is impeccable .this resort has wonderful staff and they all speak a perfect English. I would like to thank OMAR our room butler and JASMIN from housekeeping for their devoted service. The beach with the white sand and the ocean with the clear and amazing water was out of this world. Food and beverages were very good .This is definitely a 5 star resort. Bus ride from the airport is long but once you arrive at the resort it is worth it. Sanctuary White Sands: Relaxing paradise

This resort is a hidden gem! I loved my time here, I did not have any issues like others have mentioned other than the food at the buffet was repetitive but when that happened I was able to go to the grill bar by the pool or go to the pizza making one located on 8 Block and the pool definitely needs more shade. Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort!

Very clean in all big and small places. great stuff- helpful and friendly, very good food with plenty of choices. Beach and ocean are second to none. Convenient short travel time from airport to the resort. Even though the resort is old, rooms are pleasant to stay and enjoy your vacation in. AC ie working the way it should to allow nice breaks from the heat, when you need it, as well a pleasant sleep time

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great resort

The beach here is absolutely beautiful and there is great snorkeling. The staff here are very friendly. It is a small resort but it is great to have everything close. The resort is clean beds are comfy. The entertainment was great. Loved the coffee bar

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great resort

The resort was clean. i’ve been to many different countries Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Vadero has the best beach They were doing some update repairs, you need to remember you’re going to Cuba. The food is the food and yes, there is shortages of drinks, food etc. but we go for the beach, to disconnect and relax so it suits our purpose 100% and we will return. If you are going to Cuba for the food and drinks party, etc. This is not the country for you.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: The Best in Cuba

The best for size, service, and relaxation. All amenities are easily accessible (very little walking) and well kept compared to other Cuban resorts. Also, even when the resort is basically full (60 rooms) there is plenty of space and no fighting for or need for reserving spots at the pool or the beach. Pool bar shuts down early for peaceful and relaxing nights.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beach Lovers

If you love the beach this is a great place. Price is very affordable but you get what you pay for. Hotel is run down. Travels in May and a lot of resort was closed. Diamond club offered pretty much nothing. Food was not kept hot on buffet and only one a la carte open and taking only 10 reservations per night. Saying all of this, we did have a great time. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Better than we imagined!

Our visit April 2024 was amazing. We went prepared for the worst and got above and beyond service from the resort. Yes the resort is in a process of repairs. To be expected after a lengthy time closed to tourist due to Covid with the added many tropical storms on a already weakened economy. Anyone would be hard pressed to be perfect. But we never went hungry we tried new things. We even tried food off resort and at local restaurants. The only issue we had in our room was TV was out when we arrived. We didn't go to watch TV though. My hubby likes the noise when I get ready to go out. Also our safe didn't work. Not a deal breaker I was prepared for everything. I've read other post with people complainants about bugs and stuff. Every tropical place we have been to had had some form of bugs. In the room or lizard. What do you expect the place is built in tropics and on sand? On that note never even seen an ant in our room. Our room was clean the bed was brand new and more comfortable than my bed at home. The AC was in top notch working order as well. I love the fact of how close the resort is to all the shops along the main drag. How convenient it is to get taxi and other forms of transportation. There are shortages but always had drinks and fun to be had. We will be back again. Can't wait to see what all changes with the repairs. The rep for Air Transit could be more friendly and actually pretend to get your request looked after for excursions and Airport VIP room. We will come back again. She kinda reminded me of how it felt in Mexico that your an annoyance to their day. As for the reps poor service I do not hold it against Air Tansit their planes and overall I have found to be way better than others like Sunwing.

Melia Internacional: Beach is good. That's all

The beach is AMAZING. White sand, clear blue water. The people at the lobby are not friendly. The red haired woman is a very RUDE person and very CONDESCENDING person. The towels in the room and the bed linens are VERY DIRTY.
