Haven Riviera Cancun: A mixed experience

The location of this resort is very convenient-just 15 minute ride from the airport and it is south of the hotel zone. This area makes it easy to walk along way on the beach. The lobby area is lovely and the check in experience went smoothly. Our flight had been delayed so the only dining option was room service which was fine. Overall food at the resort was good. Based on several past travel experiences at 5 star resorts we would not have expected to find blood stained sheets, tile falling off the walls, previously used toiletries in our room (it was toothpaste), stained and broken chairs around the pool, broken and rotting railing and stairs heading down to the beach. I believe this resort is approximately 8 years old but it is showing a lack of ongoing maintenance. We looked past the deficiencies and enjoyed a few days in the sun.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Couldn’t ask for a better resort

The Catalonia Royal Tulum Resort in Mexico provides a fantastic vacation location. The resort offers gorgeous beach with plenty of chairs. As it’s an all inclusive waitresses come around to ask you if you want something to drink. The buffet restaurant staff are absolutely the best. The pool bar offers any type of drink you want. I’ll be going back for sure.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Extremely Disappointing

So many negatives: -5 hour transit time from plane landing to security, then luggage, then drive to hotel (only 45 mins). Hotel states to blame Air Transat, Air Transat says blame Trip Central. Even when trying to review with Trip Central they push blame advising me to call the local taxi company (a Mexican number). This entire package was suggested and supported (not) by Trip Central. -Terrible check in, 6 am flight to get to resort early and in addition to 5 hour transit time, the room w [... read more]as not ready until after 5 pm. -Impossible to book any restaurant. When a few were booked (after complaining and getting to top management), the food was poor. They wanted us to eat buffet all the time and never book a restaurant. -Many bars but line ups and only one bartender. All drinks highly watered down and poor. -Pushy for tips on every request to do anything. -Impossible to get around resort, rude drivers of shuttles on many occasions. -Can't swim in water. Poor. -9 of us went and never again with Trip Central, Air Transit or any Grand Palladium.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good service/staff

Great staff and service. Food was good. Entertainment staff were great, but shows at night were too late of a start. Beach sucked, we went end of January/first of February, the beach water was super murky and was usually red or yellow flagged. Pool water always seemed kind of murky and gross as well, I ended up with swimmers ear on our second to last day. Rooms were alright minus the beds that were rock hard and could def use some tlc. Our second night there one of the ceiling fan blades fle [... read more]w off in the middle of the night and whacked the wall above the bed my kids were sleeping in. Thankfully it didn’t hit anyone. They fixed it by cutting off the broken part and glueing it back in which made the fan unusable, the whole thing would shake if you turned it on. My kids had a puking contest through the entire night halfway through our trip, we’re assuming it was something they ate, but that could happen anywhere. Lagoon 10 mins down the beach was gorgeous!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: best resort we ever stayed at!

Very clean and well staffed. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Food at a la cartes were amazing from beginning to end, buffets and snack bars well stock with an array of great food. Staff very approachable and appear content or happy at work. Trolley ran frequently, never a long wait. It had something for every one, quiet areas and more active area. We will definitely be coming back!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Would Recommend

Can't think of anything to complain about! Loved having access to all of the resorts and the shuttle service was quick and often enough that it made frequenting each resort very convenient. The food was great, so were all of the employees.

Riu Emerald Bay: Great resort

Stayed in a superior room in the new section of the hotel. It was very spacious. Loved the little decorative touches the maid left everyday! The resort is very well laid out. Lots of pools and loungers. Found that there was lots of choices available at the Tres Isla buffet for dinner. Had breakfast everyday at the Malecon. Our favourite restaurant was the Bamboo. Enjoyed the ABBA tribute show. The guitar player and singer that played before and after were fantastic. We would definitely return to [... read more] the Riu.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort

Our whole family of 13 adults thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We loved not having to line up to reserve restaurants! The preferred lounge was wonderful. Restaurants were all good with favourites the French and Italian. Everything was spotless and of course our waiters were all phenomenal! We also had a very spacious living room with double wooden doors into our bedroom in our room. We would all return to this resort in the future.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Nice resort but too many steps to the lobby

The rooms are nice no complaints but our room was not stocked regularly with water and beer etc. We had to call and waited forever for anyone to come. This is not a 5 star hotel. Maybe 3. The food for the most part was not good. Buffet was always packed and they were running out of food. Waited in line. Food wasent hot…it was hard to book a la cartes for the time we wanted. Service was slow and quality of food was not good. I slipped in the lobby the first day we were there. Water in the f [... read more]loor that wasent mopped up. Luckily I was ok with just a skinned knee a d bruising. We will not stay here again!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Not Bad

Ocean view room was perfect...old cabinets in bathroom and taps from 1950.... Lots of cobblestone steps around but ramps as well. Food was just ok..tender beef, swiss chalet like chicken most lunch and dinner. Veggies either mushy or raw. I love rice and it was good..breakfast good..home smoked bacon. Lots of seniors limping with knee braces but gorgeous grounds, beach lovely but ocean dirty. Nice to walk to lshops and Chedraui dept store.

Royal Solaris Cancun: Medicore Resort

Overall, I would rate Royal Solaris as a 6/10. Although the staff were extremely kind and accommodating, the food was mediocre and the beach was not good for swimming. There were a lot of rocks located at the beach line and with the combination of wind and waves, swimming in the beach was rough and dangerous - definitely not suitable for children and most adults. The resort is a lot smaller than other resorts I’ve been to, but it seems that the experience was less than desirable as well. The lob [... read more]by bathroom was missing 2 out of 3 of its toilet seats and 2 out of 3 of the doors do not lock. The lobby bathroom felt more like a public bathroom than a resort bathroom and was very poorly kept. The pools were decent in terms of size and layout, however, the pool chairs are all crammed beside each other with absolutely no space to walk between them or around them. The setup of the pool chairs was actually the worst I have ever seen at a resort. There were no actual walkways, you just had to walk in front and behind people’s chairs which again, were all crammed together and extremely close to the pool so you had to be very careful not to misstep. We had to crawl to get onto some of the loungers as well due to the lack of walking space around the pools. The resort itself is very quiet with very little entertainment. The night ends early with the last bar taking drink orders by 11:45pm. There is no entertainment after this at all and nothing is open. The staff were kind and serviced our requests well, they all had great attitudes and a willingness to help. The food selection was very minimal and with no consistency in taste. The food was mediocre at best. The rooms were clean and the oceanview rooms (with balcony) are well worth the view of the stunning ocean. This is not a resort for young adults/individuals who want to dance the night away and enjoy the late night food/fun. The resort is child friendly and seems to cater more towards families. The restaurants on site were good, much better than the regular buffet food.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Great time

We stayed at Grand Park Resort first week in Feb We found the Resort lovely the grounds were beautiful and very clean,rooms clean and staff wonderful We never had a problem finding a chair near the pool or beach, snorkeling was awesome The only issue was I found the food not hot at all ,luke warm at best Other than that we had a wonderful stay and would recommend

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Mostly great experience!

This is our second visit to Barcelo Maya. We loved the resort last year and decided to come back again this year. We had a nice stay but there were few issues as well. To start with the positives, the resort is very big and the grounds are beautiful. There are so many places to walk and yo get a feeling that you are in a small village rather than just a hotel. We love that it had so any amenities and there is always something to do. The rooms are spacious and kept clean. The food is pretty good  [... read more]and there are number of a la carte restaurants which are quite good. The beach is amazing. Probably one of the nicest beaches on the Mayan Riviera. In regards to what could be better, there was a lack of beach loungers and we had to wake up early in order to reserve a lounger. People, including ourselves, ended up dragging loungers from the pool area to the beach. Second, there is a lack of small spoons. We had to ask for one almost every meal. Easily remedied by buying more. And lastly, Barcelo Maya caters to families and elderly and this is one of the reason we enjoyed the resort and feel safe. However, this year there was a very large group (over 100) university students from Spain that arrived near the end of our stay. They were very loud all through the night and we didn't get any sleep that last 2 days. We called the reception to address the issue but nothing was done.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Friendly, family-style resort.

The three-story complex has charming Mexican architecture and a low-key vibe. The rooms are older and modest but have comfortable beds and good showers with a small garden patio. The staff are friendly especially restuarant and bar staff. This is a quiet resort with low key music that ends at 10pm. A few younger families but mostly older retired folks are guests so this is not a party place.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: First time at a Wyndham Alltra Resort!

I can safely say I enjoyed the week here at this resort. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic and the value for dollars was about right! The location was perfect and felt safe even off the resort. Puerto Vallarta was a mere 455 pesos by taxi away where we spent a day exploring. The beach was long, walkable, soft sand, ocean was swimmable, whales providing a show as did a small delegation of baby turtles trying to get to the ocean after hatching! A very cool experience!

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Noisy & Disappointing!

First the pluses: Very clean, well maintained and friendly staff. Knowing that this was a family resort, we expected lots of kids and their noise. However this was not the issue. The way the hotel was constructed, all the floors on the sides of the hotel were open all the way down to the lobby, with the noise carrying to every floor. The lobby was open and very breezy, with limited seating. The Diamond Club appeared to be flaunted, with their amenities & private pools, while there was only one p [... read more]ool for the rest of us. None Diamond Club people had balconies with no privacy & cheap uncomfortable chairs. At each end of the pool (not including the kids area) and the middle, there was music playing constantly. In the afternoon, a huge speaker was brought out and we were subjected to even louder music (which would have been pleasant had it not been booming). Acoustics were very poor throughout - the lobby, the theatre and even Rio Restaurant which had excellent food and service but was noisy with only 3 tables of people. The food in general was disappointing. No fresh pasta or stir fry at the buffet. The food at Grazi, the Italian restaurant was particularly bad. None of the four of us, who each ordered different meals, could eat much of it. Guest Services left my bag unattended & visible when they promised someone would be there to look after it. There is no door on the bathroom! Separate shower and toilet but no privacy to dress etc. plus it was cold stepping out of the shower. Signage on the resort indicated that it was 100% non smoking, yet there were several smoking sections we had to pass through.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good time!

Hotel was safe enjoyable clean well staffed. Travelled on my own and felt comfortable. The gym is great. Food was super tasty and lots of variety. Staff are welcoming helpful and many staff makes for great service. The beach is nice. Wish could use the space with Akumal but did find a lounge chair every day. Space to have quiet beach time and there’s space where children were playing. Beach was clean and bar staff prompt service. The shuttle to the beach was easy to catch. The pool without the c [... read more]hildren’s water park was peaceful. Wish they had live music every night that would help make the evenings/night time more fun.

Riu Palace Mexico: Our RIU Palace Mexico review

To start, we always stay at RIU's, in different countries. This stay at RIU Palace Mexico we booked the Superior Junior Suites and was worth the bit of extra money for the great view. The room was so clean and spacious. These rooms are like an open concept where you can view the bathroom from the bed which isn't ideal for privacy but our particular room had a curtain divider (which you can tell had been later added). That was nice. Time from airport to resort: From the time the plane land [... read more]ed, collected luggage/customs, waited for the bus/van and arrived at the resort was 2.5 hours. The drive from the airport to the resort is a little over an hour. tip: Make sure you take a washroom break at the airport before you go outside to wait for the bus/van. Things we liked: bottled/can beer and pop in all the restaurants and bars. The grounds were spotless, staff friendly, our room was very clean, bed comfortable, balcony was a great place to relax and with a nice view. Food was plentiful and many choices even for a non-meat eater like myself. We were up and out by 6:30am to get beach chairs saved if we wanted a particular spot. The staff everywhere at this resort were wonderful! The beach was clean other than the seaweed days. The red flag was up the whole week so very large waves. We walked to a wee small market outside one day which is 5 minutes from the resort, the normal souviner stuff. Things that we were not so happy about. The nighttime entertainment was just "ok", nothing great but it passed the time. There was a piano player in the lobby most nights but he was way too loud and same old music each night. The resort bathrooms were awful, not always clean and well they stunk as it's quite humid maybe leaving the doors opened would help. There is only one bathroom for all people at the beach and the pools so there is always a lineup. The pools were just ok so spent our time at the beach instead. We attended the Neon party one night at the RIU Tequila (across the street) but there were so many people there we couldn't get into the theatre. Would we return to the RIU Palace Mexico again? Probably not, but nothing against the resort we just like trying different RIU's in different countries.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good resort, but....

Overall we had a good time in the resort. We enjoyed the beach, room, pool area and grounds. Food and drinks were decent. Entertainment and service were okey. It would not take much to take this place from okey to very good, but it seems like the resort is focused more on Members Club- Circle One clients than regular clients, which probably make 90-95% of the profits for this resort. It was very disappointing to hear that lack of beach and pool chairs was a selling point to attract more people t [... read more]o join the privileged club. "If you join the club you don't have to worry about not having a lounge chair on the beach, regular people have to get up early to be able to have a chair, for you its always available." This is not right, every paying client should have access to a comfortable lounger to enjoy the beach or pool. Yes, we had to wake up early to reserve chairs and could not relax and sleep in. So many people had to lay on the sand , or they just walked away from the beach upset, because there was not enough chairs. Management needs to look after all customers, not only privileged club members. For that reason I will not recommend this resort to family or friends.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Pleasant Resort

On the whole this resort is fine, given the price we paid. Having said that, there is room for some improvements. There were not enough loungers on the beach. In order to secure a spot, you need to be saving your place by 7:30. There was one day during the week where a section of our beach area was roped off as people from a cruise ship were using that space. This was frustrating as it meant even fewer beach umbrellas, loungers and space. When we inquired as to this inconvenience, the response [... read more] was, "it's only for the day". The room was fine. We encountered an issue with the towels being taken and not replaced, it was necessary to contact housekeeping to bring us fresh towels. Upon arrival, there was not a safe in the room. Both of these concerns were addressed quickly. The first night, there was no hot water. This, again was fixed in a timely manner. The food in the buffet was good. There were times when certain items would run out and should have been replaced sooner. Italian night saw one person preparing individual dishes, as a result the line was long and it took some time to get served. Perhaps having more than one person/station would have made for faster service. We enjoyed our stay, if someone asked for a recommendation, I would say, keep your expectations in line with the cost of this vacation. As for us, we would not return to this resort.
