Muthu Colonial Hotel: Our new favourite resort

We loved this resort as the staff was wonderful and very accommodating. We are vegan and the chef named Junior made us special potatoes that weren’t cooked in chicken broth. We liked how the resort is not overly busy. If you want to get away for a holiday or rest and relaxation, this is your place. We will be back.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Jardines del Rey

During our stay at Melia Jardines del Rey was not too bad..we enjoyed the beach,pools and the sorroundings...the food was okay not as good as we expected..the programs were good specially the night programs... The rooms are very clean except that the hot water at the shower was not constant.. All the staff were very kind and polite...the a la carte restaurants were not serving the foods that we expect too...Anyway overall we had fun and i think of going back there again someday...

Gran Muthu Imperial: New Resort

As it is new, there are still a few kinks to iron out. Overall, not too bad but can use improvement to become that 4 star resort that it’s advertised as. The people are very friendly and the service is great.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great resort, great people

Gran Caribe was a great surprise for our family. The beach is wonderful, the pools are really good and our rooms were comfortable enough. Above all, the people who works there are the nicest you can ever meet. Do not forget to taste the great dishes being served on their new restaurant on dinner time.

Melia Cayo Coco: Pleasant surprise

I was very pleased with our trip. I had only been to Cuba once before and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. In Melia Cayo Coco from the moment we arrived until the minute we left it was amazing. The hotel was very clean and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and kept clean every day. Our rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. Sometimes items weren’t available but we always found something we liked (I am very fussy about my food so was hesitant about going to Cuba). A la Carte restaurants were very good but so was the buffet and the snack bar and beach restaurant. The entertainment was amazing. Bands, singers that were as good as the original artists, violinists at the pool in the morning. I didn’t want to fill this out because I want it to remain quaint and I want it to be available when I want to go again and I will. Oh and the beach was spectacular. Warmer than the pool.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Value resort

The resort is showing a bit of age but overall I could overlook the shortcomings (food was typical Cuba , somewhat bland, but there was always something you could find in the buffet, some of the repairs done to tiles etc were not professionally done, I didn’t like having to race down to the beach area at 6:30 am in order to reserve some loungers and space on the beach and other minor issues but my priorities were : Economy(done) nice beach (awesome) a place to sleep and shower(acceptable) we [... read more]ather (was perfect) good service (very friendly) over all I was happy with the experience it met expectations and was good value for the money.

Melia Costa Rey: Average

Mmm. Ok, food is average. Italian tho was awful. Snack bar and beach bar are understaffed and frequently run out of stuff ( like beer??!!) Main dining room was messy and difficult to find a clean table. Couches in lobby looked modern and white till I got up close and saw how dirty they are. Melia Cayo Coco: Best Resort in Cayco Coco

We had an amazing stay at the Melia Cayco Coco!! Best resort we’ve stayed at in Cuba. It’s all the little extra’s they do to make your stay memorable. Don’t hesitate to stay here. They have none of the problems of the other hotels I’ve read about. You won’t regret if!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Incredible experience

Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Rooms were perfectly cared for and the staff of the whole resort never dropped the ball once. The grounds were maintained and cared for every day with an incredible group of individuals on their team. The restaurants for sit down 3 course meals and the buffets were excellent with not one complaint from myself or husband, and we both have allergies and the accommodated ya very well. As well as versed in French and many other languages. Multiple day and evening events taking place to make sure you have a wonderful experience with super energetic event coordinators. They also offered many on and off resort excursions as well to meet anyone’s needs/ wants to see the whole environment. Incredible experience through and through.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Amazing resort!!!

Excellent! Clean, friendly staff, great drinks, variety of food daily! (If you can have lemons next time that would be a plus!!! Beach a little small and a few rocks. I travel to Cuba once a year and this experience was excellent! Thanks for making our week vacation worthy!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Fantastic Place

Hotel was very clean. People are very friendly. There was plenty of food and a variety of it. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Our shower door leaked - the only issue we had. The beach was clean and the pools were sparkling. A wonderful getaway!!

Melia Cayo Coco: ok but not great

The beach and the live entertainment were excellent. However the food was sub par and the food was often not hot. Even the coffee in the dining room was poor. We went to Melia Cayo Coco as it was recommended by friends. Rather disappointing overall. Enjoyed Melia Cayo Guillermo more.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: ❤️ this resort.

Another fabulous stay at Memories Flamenco Beach! Resort grounds are beautifully maintained. Beach is incredible. Staff are amazing! Food is great. This resort is beginning to show its age though. Beds are not very comfortable. Plumbing is a major issue. Public bathrooms at the grill closed the entire time which left pool bathrooms only! It was disgusting! Path lighting from the unit 4 and beyond non existent Time for an uplift for sure!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Excellent Cuba resort

Our family of four were very surprised at how clean, professional, and accommodating this resort was. We traveled with our 8 month old and 2.5 year old and had a blast. The pools are clean (and there are three!), the food is actually excellent (fresh fish and salads every day), and the staff are very kind and were so great with the kids. The beach is okay. Lots of seaweed and it’s not very long or wide. We always got an umbrella but it’s very loud and packed. There is always a huge speaker blasting reggaeton all day and a Cuban staff member dancing. It’s fun but sometimes you do want some quiet and you can’t find that on this beach. The water is so incredible and the sand is white and you can walk out for a while with it being shallow so it’s really great for the kids. So, overall a clean and beautiful beach but also loud and packed and not a place to relax (and I go to the beach to relax!). Recommendations for improvement: pool toys for the kids would be helpful (there are none). More importantly, easier access to clean water (you have to tip certain staff for extra bottles) would have been ideal. It’s not easy traveling with a baby let alone having a hard time getting bottled water or hot water for baby’s food. The staff constantly looked confused when we asked for hot water water from the bar even though we speak some Spanish and told them it’s for baby’s food. Getting more bottled water or treated water from the bar was also tough. The hotel room only gives one roll of toilet paper a day so if you use more you’re out of luck until the next day. That happened a few times to us. The washrooms on the resort also don’t have toilet paper so bring wipes with you. Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort to families. I’d even go back. It was a truly wonderful week and you have to understand Cuba to be able to accept the good and the bad. This resort is trying very hard to make its customers happy and it’s showing. We had a wonderful time.

Very clean resort every building has ocean view rooms, buffet and restaurants are great, staff was awesome, only thing was they only gave us 1 towel for rhe beach and everyday they said they would nding one but never did other than that it is a great resort beautiful beach and tons of excursions available

Melia Costa Rey: Pullman Cayo Coco review

The grounds were all dried up and sparse. Enjoyed the Cuban restaurant and the Japenese restaurant. Buffet food became a vicious repeat every day, very few foods were different on a daily basis and my eggs were always undercooked (but I ate them anyway in the essence of time). Cappucino machine in the buffet has been broken for 2 months, therefore you either went to the outdoor bar for a cappucino or the coffee bar in the lobby. Rooms were very clean, view from the room was fantastic, most staff were very friendly (exception was the coffee bar staff, who were run off their feet). Lack of water in the bathroom, water pressure was not always great, and ran out of hot water frequently (if there was any at all). Pools weren't heated, so got very little enjoyment out of them, spent most of my time on the beautiful beach. Beach was great, no complaints. Loved the churros kiosk by the pool everyday. No issues with exchanging beach towels except for 1 day out of 7 when they ran out of clean towels. In my opinion, the beach made up for most shortcomings of the resort.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Picturesque Resort

This is a small, picturesque resort with a good view from almost all the rooms. The beach since it was widened is excellent with a gentle slope in the clear water. After a storm in Jan 2020 the staff cleaned up the seaweed as quickly as possible and area is well maintained. The resort is older and the maintenance personnel work hard as do all the good people at this resort. Tryp Cayo Coco: Almost the same as it was 20 years sgo

I was told that this hotel was renovated after the hurricane. Perhaps we were given a room that wasn’t renovated because i felt like I went back in time. I’ve been to this resort about 20 years ago when it was one giant hotel and I remember it to be almost the same. Bidet next to the toilet, weak water pressure, shower heads that barely worked. I’ve been to Cuba at least 15 times to various resorts and I was disappointed with the rooms. The beach was as stunning as I remembered 20 years ago. For some reason a flock of pelicans and seagulls frequented the beach and used this as a feeding grounds. I have seen pelicans at other resorts, maybe two or three, but at this resort there were about 20 hanging out and feasting on the fish. Interesting to watch but terrifying for those who are afraid of birds. The pool was also very clean and exceeded my expectations. The representative with air transat, Jorge , was also disappointing. Appearing to be friendly and helpful at first, with his only goal to sell excursions, he was non existent afterwards and didn’t inform us of all information. For instance special dinner for repeat guests. The fact that the buffet restaurant completely shut down one evening forcing many guests to beg to go to a specialty restaurant without a reservation. The staff was accommodating and understood but the hotel and the air transat rep did a bad job of communicating this. Don’t buy cigars at this resort. The staff at the restaurants refused to give receipts for purchases. We couldn’t understand why. They only agreed to give receipts with a passport and if we purchased greater than the maximum limit allowed. The prices were much cheaper at the airport. 25 cuc compared to 34 cuc for the same box of guantanemerra cigars. Same goes for the brand name cigars. Montecristo, Romeo y Juliet etc... the hotel did not have cohibas. Wait till you get to the Jardines del ray airport. Much better selection and much lower prices. Overall I would not recommend this hotel at the price I paid. ($1,000 per person). If I got a deal for $600. -$700 I may recommend but for the same price I would rather go to cayo Santa Maria.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Booking problem

When I arrived at the hotel I was told I had booked super saver double occupancy. I went through the options carefully as I needed two rooms. There is a drop down menu to select 1 or 2 rooms I specifically chose 2. I never was advised that the selection was not valid. The room was nothing like the photos. Really the hotel is quite run down. No hot water and the salt water pool was closed that was a main feature in booking this hotel. People were very nice.
